Its a total disappointment, I think Disney has been lowering expectations so much in the hope that better than a disaster is seen as a good film. Its not. Its a movie no-one asked for and the results are predictable, safe, dull and full of unnecessary toxic political correctness. This film is a shameful cash grab, it belongs in the trash compactor. An utterly charming entry into the SW canon, Solo has real heart. Totally respectful of the lore and the low stakes really work in it's favour. 2 hours of fun.

What a pleasant surprise! I'm far from claiming that it was the best movie in the franchise, it wasn't, but it definitely was a great fun, western-in-space style, with some typical 'gangster-movie' tropes and just a right amount of humor. What a pleasant surprise! I'm far from claiming that it was the best movie in the franchise, it wasn't, but it definitely was a great fun, western-in-space style, with some typical 'gangster-movie' tropes and just a right amount of humor. Some characters have been underused (Val, Rio, Vos was just... there and that's all), but other covered up for that (Lando, Beckett, Han (Alden definitely exceeded my expectations), Chewie). Overall, I went to the cinema expecting something average at most and left the building baffled. Plus, adding a lot of smaller and bigger easter eggs and one, very special cameo. I'm shocked by this myself, but... I would like to see a sequel very much. Really. Expand

Solo: A Star Wars Story

The reminiscent natured script never works on a prequel or a spin-off for the writers winds up spending their half of the time on creating a propaganda to end it up on a circle or form a loop with a hope that it will justify the actions or occurring events. Such origin features demands proper work on each aspects that focuses on keeping the audience electrified and engaged throughout the course of it and not charm their way out of it (something which can only be created after a connection is established). Jonathan and Lawrence Kasdan; the writers, shares their fan-boy moments with a delight in the script but as far as the structure is concerned, it walks completely on the similar route as this world has previously managed to do so. Ron Howard; the director, offered a lot of expectations and doesn't fail on flaunting its brilliant execution skills but even a Star Wars genre with his eyes, is no different from any other feature of his. Ron spends his first act setting the plots and the characters in an unnerving way for the audience like a slow pill that isn't about to kick until the second half arrives. As always a Star Wars feature doesn't disappoint on technical aspects like stunning production and costume designs, breathtaking visuals and amazing vfx, although the background score isn't upto the mark by John Powell. The action sequences are shot nicely but the air-based sequence is the highlight of it as it is one of the wittiest and nail-biting chase sequence of Star Wars. It certainly is a lot of pressure to pull off an iconic character like Han Solo and Alden Ehrenreich's hard work is clearly visible here but isn't as convincing and addition to that Emilia Clarke and Paul Bettany aren't at their best despite of being supported well by Woody Harrelson and Donald Grover. The performance is also one of the main reasons why the emotions depicted in here comes out a bit shallow and why the audience feels disconnected with the characters. Solo: A Star Wars Story is somewhat inedible as it fumbles its way down the road where the audience is neither in awe of it nor exhausted by it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Overall very boring and unnecessary story. The new droid is hilariously bad in the same vein as Rose from TLJ. Darth Maul shoe horned in for no good reason. Kessel Run left meaningless due to a "Shortcut". Unfortunately more of the same "new age" Star Wars. Not much to see here for the original fans. Expand

I won't spoil the whole movie here guys, I will describe it fast... no music, feels flat, was boring, people in the cinema were tired and had a tired face at the end, L3-37 was annoying as hell, the 12 parsecs kessel run was destroyed, the characters were underdeveloped, boring, bad acting, the characters did not followed their traits, Solo was ok, Lando became Gayer by the minute, the rest of the characters blended in the background, Woody was incredible Flat and Sad...what a waste of character, the movie doesn't feel like star wars, was a heist movie without any action nor stakes .... I strongly don't recommend the movie guys....wait for it to come out on Netflix and watch it on a rainy, sad, lonely day were there is absolutely nothing to watch. Expand

Yes, this movie has a slow, awkward start, but it get so much better, and, in my opinion, it's the best of the latest 4 Star Wars flicks. And it all rests on the shoulders of the primary cast: Han, Lando, Chewie, Lando's robot, Emilia Clark, and Woody are all fantastic. There's a level of humanity and fun in this movie that is totally devoid from Last Jedi, Force Awakens, etc. This one's an easy recommendation. Expand
