Still better than any Marvel content released since Spiderman: No Way Home up until now, Sept 2023

The movie, for sure, has it's flaws, ranking it for me, slightly lower than the other Volumes, but ultimately a good conclusion for characters I love. Everything else I want to say has been said by every professional reviewer.

Now with James Gunn leaving Guardians, Disney, who thinks good writing is just inserting 2023 progressive politics into every movie, will be left alone to bury themselves and what remains of the broken Marvel Post Phase 3 franchise. Even people who agree with these politics are sick of seeing them in their Marvel movie, especially when done so tactless and sloppily like Disney. Well Disney, you reap what you sow.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Bad opening but gets better from there.

Random bad guy (Adam Warlock) attacks Rocket just so he can have a character building sympathy arc, and the GOATG can go on a journey to save him.

The cameo of Howard the duck was great though.

It is a bit sad that it appears to be the end of this version of the Guardians, but the future Rocket-led Guardians & Gamora's Ravagers have a lot of potential.

Just there really doesn't seem to be a big threatening baddy after Thanos, and MCU is just going through the motions.

Now he is recycling all his ideas, reworking them, and trying to make them hit hard. Instead, the movie hits very soft and feels way too long. Cut out some of the melodrama, don't overstuff it with so many broad character motivations, and focus a bit more on developing the antagonist maybe. Basically, if this movie was tightened up A LOT, it would have been an 8/10. As it is, it feels like a jokey/emotional Marvel soap opera series, smashed and squeezed into an overflowing mess of a movie. Expand

This movieThe first Guardians movie is one of my favourite marvel movies of all time, great pacing , fun story, fantastic soundtrack, nice action scenes and even though they were just being introduced each character had a moment to shine. This movie has managed to take all those elements and somehow dilute then into something way less compelling. The pacing is pretty weird, the story is all over the place, albeit not as much as the soundtrack. Where the songs complemented and enhanced the scenes of the first movie in the third you can tell they’re there solely to try to reproduce “cool” moments with little to no success. In very random moments the music starts as the guardians walk in slowmo from here to there trying to look hella cool but it literally has no connection with the story and mood of the previous scene. The character development is also pretty underwhelming, Peter is barely a character, Draxx and Mantis have some fun back and forth but don’t go much further than that, Gamorra was insufferable , Adam Warlock was there. The difference is staggering, in the first movie for example, there’s a scene where Peter sees Rocket undress and notices his scars and implants, that one moment literally told us everything we needed to know without any words, in the third the same concept is explored in greater detail only to then have rocket not have any particularly relevant payoff… It’s so sad to see how mediocre these movies are becoming, there is a wealth of material to draw from but we end up getting these poorly written messes. Like how often can you see a character seemingly die, everyone screaming in panic and crying, only for that character to get up an walk it off in the next scene? Lazy writing Expand

You'll most likely find yourself getting whiplashed from all of the varying degrees of an emotionally heightened anxieties, you'll go from laughing to crying, to being thrilled, back to crying, and then laughing again. The whole movie is that way. It doesn't let up throughout its 2 and half hour runtime. A runtime that feels like at moments it's overstaying it's welcome in the final act, as it's one that has a lot of starting and stopping, moments that feel like finales but are not. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is a triumphant conclusion to the Guardians trilogy. A hilarious, action-packed, and emotionally resonant film that is sure to please fans of the franchise.

The cast is once again excellent, with Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, and Karen Gillan all giving standout performances. Will Poulter is also a welcome addition to the cast, bringing a new level of intensity to the role of Adam Warlock. But the standout performance of the film is that of Chukwudi Iwuji, his performance was amazing as the villain. The film's humor is top-notch, with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments. The action sequences are also some of the best in the MCU, with plenty of eye-catching visuals and memorable set pieces. And, of course, the music was awesome and well timed.

But what really sets Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 apart is its emotional depth. The film tackles some heavy themes, such as loss, grief, and redemption. But it does so in a way that is both honest and heartwarming. I highly recommend it.

It was the first Marvel movie that added a sense of humor and some color and it was fun af. The music was also a huge draw as it was well-used in every instance. No fat on that movie at all, no down time. It was enjoyable for every second. Guardians 2 was not as good, but still maintained that energy we loved. Guardians 3 was...okay. Obviously the humor toned down a bit for me as Peter Quill was going through some **** And of course the whole Rocket backstory. Besides that, though, everything was a little off. The music selection was great, but it was all over the place and didn't really resonate with the story. It was just there "hey, member this song??" The villain was kinda goofy and I didn't get why he was doing what he was doing. The plot, along with the soundtrack, was just all over the place again. Still the same vibe, but somehow diluted. Overall, it was a rather disappointing Marvel movie and there hasn't been a really good one since Infinity War for me (Endgame didn't do it for me). Expand

Humor is inappropriately delivered most if not all of the time. The overuse and frankly inappropriate use of of 80s/90s music is annoying at best. How can one enjoy portraying the killing of massive numbers of mutilated animals when they have no agency? Some of these creations are just grotesque and the CGI pushed the limit more than once to display gross and grotesque creations. Expand

This is a spectacular film with a great story, entertaining scenes and importantly it feels like a comic book movie as if it was a chapter to a more extraordinary story.

Let me grill into this now the things I dislike are, Perhaps too much music and slow-mo used, The Flashbacks that occur a lot through the film, and well Adam Warlock.

These problems dampen the film's effectiveness, during action scenes you want it to be tense fast and fluid.
The music is a bit much and adding slower music to scenes especially scenes with action is a big no unless you use it effectively like Deadpool for example.
The flashbacks aren't a major problem once they are sought through but they happen a bit too frequently at least for my taste least.
And Finally Adam Warlock...He is a simple idiot with hardly any lines but he did my boi StarLord a favour so it's forgiven, for now.

Rating time:
VFX: 9/10, Really nice, again there are very quick scenes where you see some CG trick used but other than that it looks quite good, you can tell by just looking at Rocket.

Dialogue: 7/10, well tolerable and most of the time funny.

Characters: 8/10, the characters are well fleshed out, well most of them.

Story & Plot: 8/10, I think it's a well-put-together story, that is affected by a few pacing issues and a little disrespectful to the time that it uses.

Magus: 0/10, Uh what's this? This is a Special Rating just because Adam Warlock was in it.

So, it's an 8/10, this is definitely in recent years a good MCU movie.
Now there is something I want to recommend, The Guardians of the Galaxy Game, I think the Story in there is either on Par or better than this film, And I highly recommend it(If you haven't got to it already), It is a Hidden Gem that not many people that like TGOTG would think of playing.

Now, James Gunn, I know that when you direct and write a film, you get wrapped up in ideas and start sticking to a formula for that film franchise. Just remember to make the film your own, formulas are only good for templating Ideas and not the final product.

The audience always wants something fresh, nostalgic, and new. This is something hard to do but it is possible, you did it with TGOTG 1, now do it again for Vol 4(whenever that will be).

Anyway, that's it, I think for now this is a good stopping point for the original Guardians Team, let the actors rest a little, and will see what's next in 5+ years. Can we get some Magus up in here? How about a Thanos v Warlock Fight? Galactis?
I don't know, figure it out until then we will be waiting for the next Volume.

It is the best MCU trilogy so far. They really entertained us from the beginning to the last scene. Have good humor, action, we feel connected with the characters, a truly carousel of feelings. it was an amazing way to close out the trilogy.

The times it went from one emotion and tone to another really fast without feeling jarring was kind of impressive. And the villain was solid. Just a good diabolical villain with no redeeming qualities. And he was truly a monster in the worst way, which was nice to see in a marvel film. Usually the pure evil types are really cringeworthy in marvel films, but not this guy.

I’d say this is James Gunn’s best film.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

En términos de acción y efectos visuales, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 no decepciona.

Yes, it had elements of what made us all love the first two and had lots that it also lacked. Yes it had the same actors and director, but it was a completely different direction. Guardians Vol. 3 took a darker turn with it's themes, lingered on certain situations that made many uncomfortable to look or listen to and was kind of unsure what it wanted to do. Many would feel differently about this movie if it didn't have their favorite characters attached to it from two sequels that revolved around being a team without taking itself too seriously, but this one does. There are certain things that I pondered on with the movie that it took my attention away as I tried to figure out, "Why did(n't) they do that?" If I am going to commend this movie for is the conclusion. It was all wrapped up in a nice little bow to send off the Guardians and it's fans onto the next chapter of whatever is awaiting for them in the future. It's a great movie, but not the best of the three Guardians of the Galaxy. Expand

It hurts sometimes, because the pain of the characters are really deep and I felt connected to them. This is a good work of cinematography, they really brought that empathy up! Great writing and acting, although I though Adam Warlock's treatment too goofy (not a GofG goofy, but an out of place kind of goofy).

Not a perfect Marvel movie but SO much better than the crap that Ant Man 3 is. For starters, the jokes were much better in Guardians 3, despite the dog jokes being the weakest, as well as some lame Nebula jokes.

BUT, a lot of Drax's jokes were good and the rest were good as well. I waited until the week day to see this and the minimal amount of people there still laughed, and so did I. In fact, I don't even remember the last time I laughed during a Marvel movie. Thor 4 certainly wasn't it, nor was Ant man 3. Guardians of the Galaxy was it. Humor, sadness, humor, action, humor, action, sadness, etc. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 has it all and I am happy to say it is the best Marvel movie I've seen since Spiderman No Way Home. I also enjoyed Wakanda Forever, but Guardians is better. Marvel hasn't given a lot for people to be happy about lately. so give this a shot. I will definitely see this again. Ant Man 3 was so **** terrible I actually NEED to see Guardians 3 again.

The first way on how it's an emotional ride is with how the story reveals a character's history and learns to resolve it by coming to terms with it all and learning to come face to face with it. This story definitely wouldn't have worked without strong characters to enhance it and thankfully, due to how these characters were established and developed throughout 2 movies, are so much fun to see how they have fun and fight for justice together and it will always be fun to see them work together. The soundtrack here is phenomenal with a mix of old school classic music to sweeten your nostalgia and high octane action music to get you hyped during the action sequences. Speaking of action, the choreography and cinematography that was put into the film are top-notch and were put in with 200% effort to the point it sells you that this film was made with genuine love and passion. The new characters introduced are fleshed out so well and have excellent lore attacked to them so that when bad things happen to them, it feels so horrible and unfair with what happened to one of the characters and it feels so satisfying when he gets his justice in the end. Finally, the ending is simply excellent with how the Guardians is resting temporarily and it feels so appropriate and deserved that this was built up over the years. Overall, I simply have no other words to say about this movie because you can just see the movie for yourself to see why it's more than just good. Expand

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is everything a Marvel movie should be and more. James Gunn is able to make you empathize and care for a group of small animals more than some of the great comic book icons as of lately. Gunn’s ability to find humanity in even the most harrowing and heartbreaking moments is why this movie works. As always, movies are better when they find a balance and James Gunn achieves that in gold with just the right amount of drama and humor. "Guardians of the Galaxy 3: A Galactic Misfire & Disaster. Don't waste your money (June 4, 2023 -- A critical review by actual verified independent viewer, Phoenix Thottam)

In a galaxy far, far away, there was a franchise that captured the hearts of audiences with its irreverent humor and eclectic cast of misfits. However, the third installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy series, sadly, fails to live up to its predecessors. Director James Gunn's attempt to recapture the magic falls short, resulting in a lackluster and disappointing cinematic experience. Such an incredible formulaic disappointment. Did an AI write this script? Ridiculous plot and just a string of special effects. Don't believe the hype. Very disappointed in GofG #3. Don't waste your money.

*Plot and Pacing*: Guardians of the Galaxy 3 suffers from a convoluted and disjointed narrative. The plot meanders aimlessly, attempting to juggle numerous subplots and character arcs, but ultimately fails to deliver a cohesive story. The pacing is haphazard, with sudden shifts from intense action to sluggish exposition, leaving viewers confused and unengaged. It's as if the film lost its way amidst a cosmic abyss, desperately grasping for coherence but failing at every turn. *Character Development*: One of the strengths of the previous films was the depth and growth of the Guardians themselves. However, in this installment, the characters feel like mere caricatures of their former selves. They lack the emotional depth and chemistry that made them so endearing in the first place. Their interactions are forced, and the humor often falls flat, betraying the genuine charm that once made this franchise stand out. It's disheartening to witness the Guardians reduced to one-dimensional shells of their former glory. *Villain and Conflict*: The antagonist in Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is an unimaginative and forgettable presence. The conflict lacks the stakes and tension that characterized the previous films. The once-dreaded Guardians find themselves facing a tepid and uninspiring foe who fails to evoke any sense of danger or urgency. This lack of a compelling villain leaves the film devoid of the necessary dramatic tension, resulting in a lackluster climax that leaves viewers underwhelmed. *Visual Effects and Cinematography*: While the Guardians of the Galaxy series has always been visually stunning, this third installment disappoints on that front as well. The CGI is inconsistent, ranging from breathtakingly beautiful to distractingly artificial. The action sequences lack the visual finesse and creative choreography that made the previous films so memorable. The cinematography feels lackluster, failing to capture the grandeur and cosmic wonder that this franchise once exuded. *Conclusion*: Wasted money and time seeing this. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is a total and complete disappointment on multiple fronts. It squanders the potential of its beloved characters, fails to deliver a cohesive and engaging narrative, and lacks the visual prowess that defined its predecessors. The charm and wit that once made this franchise shine have been replaced by a sense of fatigue and creative bankruptcy. This third installment feels like a mere cash grab, tarnishing the legacy of the Guardians of the Galaxy. It's a cosmic misfire that leaves fans yearning for the glory days of this once-promising franchise.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pros- The characters have character arcs that finish off their stories perfectly. For example,Peter Quill started off the 1st movie leaving earth, and returned home at the end of the trilogy. Rocket Raccoon started off being a surly,grumpy,mean-spirited and short-tempered raccoon who was insecure about his identity and had a very grey morality borderlining on black, but now has a much more stable moral compass and is now not insecure about his purpose in life, leading the guardians and being more compassionate and heroic as a bonus. Drax became a dad in the end after losing his family, Nebula helps the children who suffered like her in the end and Mantis learned to go out there and fnd out what she wants to do in life, being more independent. They also had a villain who was pure evil, High Evouloutionary, who got what he deserved. The music at the end is a reference to the song 'come and get your love' played at the beginning of the 1st movie,a really nice callback. The music for each scene fit nicely. Lylla,Teefs and Floor are wholesome and innocent characters who didn't deserve the horrible treatment they got.
Gamora, while violent and aggresive, still has a heart of gold. Adam Warlock also shows his softer side wgen it comes to his mother Ayesha and his pet Blurp. Cons-I have some problems with the emotional scenes, because everytine there is one,it makes me tear up,but it is ruined by sudden bursts of action. I know this is an action movie, but they don't let it play out long enough to take full effect. Take a look at Puss in boots:the last wish. They allow us to enjoy emotional moments for a while and take it slow, allowing the emotional effect desired to take effect. Another thing is Guardians of the galaxy vol 3's plot is very goal-focused. While it can work, some of the characters are out of focus and don't give enough spotlight to certain characters, like Kraglin or Nebula, allowing some arcs to feel too rushed.

Best Marvel film since Avengers: Endgame.
It has a great cast, visual effects, and of course touching scenes about main characters

Tear-jerking, funny, and above all, glorious, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" is the rare trilogy capper that really works.
