100% over the top craziness. Love it. Cut back on the boring human part, focused on the monsters, just the way it should be.

+Delivers screen filling epic battle moments that were promised
+Interesting 'anime style screenplay'
+Great cheesy moments
-Some pretty awful dialogue
-While monster fights are interesting and epic in scale, the choreography feels a little too faithful to the original movies and uninspired (opportunity missed??)

My expectations were quite high going into watching as I had heard a lot of hyped up reviews for how great and faithful GKOTM was to the series originals... While I can safely praise the cheesy screenplay for feeling just fun enough to plod through, the action set pieces and titan choreography seemed to feel uninspired in my eyes... To me though the bar for giant monster battling was set high in 2013's pacific rim (I just love the sensation of weight visible (and audiable) when the kaiju and yaegers simply move let alone brawl....). Still if your in the mood or just a fan then I am certain you will find something here to enjoy.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. For the most part the action sequences are lost in shaky cameras and jittery editing, constantly hidden by storm and night; King of the Monsters completely fails to conjure any sense of awe about its creatures, except the three-headed dragon (Ghidorah). The roars of creatures are more convinced than the plot, The movie is built around something called the Orca, a bio-sonar machine that can talk to the animals, the specialist Vera Farmiga, who developed Orca and used it, she had a lot of turns in her character in the film, which was so silly, also her daughter (still underage) who surprised all the audience by using Orca at some moments of the film, anyone can tell me how she knew how to use this high-tech machine?!! It's never made sense.

The final fight between Godzilla & Ghidorah is same as the final fight in the previous part of Godzilla in 2014, it looks like repetitive scene, besides the other creatures that pop up less than a minute without any information about what they're capable to do.

"Godzilla: King of the Monsters" is unsatisfying, you can find some exciting moments, but mostly is disappointing, the previous part "Godzilla" in 2014 is completely better than this one, especially with the legend of acting Bryan Cranston.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The movie touches on the cliché subject that humans are the "disease" of our world. This idea is the whole driving force behind a woman/mom, that lost her son a few years ago, to simply murder billions of people and animals. This idea itself is ofcourse not totally undoable, for example "avengers infinity war" was able to pull it off perfectly. The problem lies within the character development of that woman. You could compare it with Albert Einstein trying to prove the earth is flat, it would just NEVER happen.

This made the movie totally unrealistic and that fact alone was enough to pull me completely out of the movie without ever getting back into it. All I could do was wonder who came up with such a sloppy excuse.

Yes the human scenes may not of been the next Citizen Kane though if you went in looking for great human drama then you do not understand what it is to watch as Godzilla movie. Never in the history has Godzilla been about the humans in reality. Godzilla has always been about the clash between mega sized Kaiju. A lot of people have bashed it seeming to not have the right expectations for a Godzilla movie. Though honestly the writing in this movie is still better then a lot of the other Godzilla movies. Honestly just go in hoping for lots of great Kaiju on Kaiju action. Expand

This is the worst movie and the worst Godzilla I have seen in a long time.
Cant remember what is worse than this cringefest. Worst dialogs like it was written for 6 year olds, plot is utterly garbage and nothing in this movie makes any sense. No action of any character is believable or understandable. It's really like a 6 year old wrote the script just to glue together the special effects they wanted! You dont care about the action cause it's emotionless. Godzilla doesnt evolve or endure like he is in animes or other movies. You never feel with him cause he is just there and smashes stuff. There is no emotional connection to his doings or his story ever. Special Effects are meh.
We endured GoT Season 8, Aquaman, Ghostbuster 2016 and others but this movie goes straight to the top place of worst movie.
The beginning is also so unprofessional and I dont know how anyone whit a little bit of knowledge in cinematography could go with that.
Again dialogs in this movie have no substance and you never care what someone says cause it doesnt suit to any situation or support anything to make you believe anything!
Stay away from this movie and save your money.

Godzilla KOTM delivers on all fronts (IMO). It's a great summer action blowout, a fantastic monster movie, and a stellar sequel to the 2014 film that launched the MonsterVerse. This time, more attention is put on the monsters, giving us some spectacular monster fights. And just when you thought King Ghidorah couldn't be more of a bad-@$$ in the Toho films...surprise! Don't get me wrong, the film is far from flawless (the ending alone had me facepalming). And with some of the characters, it was like they forgot there's still a 3rd film coming. But for all that it's worth, KOTM is a perfect addition to 2019's summer blockbuster movies. I most certainly recommend seeing this film. Expand

I was so looking forward to this. Well I'll start with whats good. The monsters look good, They look more modern but still have their old feel. Godzilla looks like Godzilla, Mothra like Mothra , King Ghedora like he is suppose to look. So I was happy with that. What very little monster fighting this movie had was ok. Every thing else sucks. The 2014 Godzilla movie was ok mainly due to Bryan Cranston who is a great actor and gave you some one to care about unfortunitly they killed him half through that movie and man was that a mistake. This movie really could have used him. I didn't care one bit for one person in this movie. Infact I hated them all outside of the one Japanese guy who was in the 2014 Godzilla movie who barely did any thing in this one. I was just so damn bored with this movie. the Human element was so god awful that I wanted to just get up and walk out of this pile of trash. The action was minimal. It did the same stupid thing Godzilla 2014 did. show you 10-20 seconds of action then go back to the boring human characters. I pay to see a Godzilla movie to see a bunch of giant monsters go at each other and I got less then the bare minimum. This was my number one want to see movie this year and I feel so let down. They got it so right with Kong Skull island. I felt so satisfied with that movie or some thing like the first Pacific Rim gave you plenty of Robot vs Monster action and if you were expecting any thing close to that ,you will be massively let down. Before this movie I couldn't wait for Godzilla vs King Kong but now I'm really doubtful on it. Expand

The script for this film is absolute garbage. The dialogue is so forced and unnatural that it makes you roll your eyes everytime someone talks which obviously is a large portion of the film. The characters are also a huge detriment to the film. They don’t have any personality and are defined by their “one character trait” which is a running problem in Warner Brothers Monsterverse. Unfortunately, this one character trait robs the audience for feeling an emotion towards character deaths in the film. Some of the action scenes aren’t amazing also. For some of the action scenes, I can’t tell what is going on or who is who because the camera is shaking around a lot. One final thing is that I feel Millie Bobby Brown wasn’t great in this film. I like her in Stranger Things but I felt like she just wasn’t trying. Here are the positives of the film. One major thing is that the sound design, sound editing, and musical score are phenomenal. The film sounds amazing. I believe that this film could be an early contender for Best Sound Editing and Best Sound Mixing at the Oscars. The musical score is just outstanding to listen to. Most of the actors do a pretty good job even though they were given a terrible script. Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, and Ken Watanabe were standouts from the film. The other half of the action scenes are pretty good and it’s awesome to see huge monsters fighting each other. Most of the visual effects are really good especially the character designs. Godzilla, Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rhodan look incredibly lifelike. The cinematography is good but it’s nothing special. The tone throughout the film remains consistent and the film is paced pretty well. It starts fast and moves from each scene quickly. Overall, Godzilla: King of the Monsters has some amazing sound editing, editing, and score with great visual effects but lacks a good script or compelling characters. I give Godzilla: King of the Monsters a 6/10. Expand

Barely any of the monsters were actually shown and the story was practically non-existent. The former movie (Godzilla 2014) did a far more fantastic job of what this movie failed at. There was barely any action in the entire movie as a whole and the dialogue was cheesy and boring. A couple of vibrant characters made the movie good (props to Bradley Whitford), but overall the movie was bland and boring with actors who looked like they'd never been on a movie before. Sad moments felt funny and comedic moments were just cringe-worthy. For a movie with such high production value, it was certainly lackluster. The CGI, even, was laughably bad; even compared to the 2014 Godzilla. I'm hoping for a more exciting take on Godzilla with the next movie. Still very unfortunate how this one turned out, but the movie leaves me with just enough hope that it hasn't been entirely ruined. Expand

I really don't know who to believe anymore when there is disparity in scores between fans and critics. This time the critics were right.

I don't have a very high bar for action movies like this, so it's not like I'm cork sniffing over here. Armageddon was a better movie than this pile of patchwork narrative and inconsistency of thought. I felt like I was watching a fever dream of a movie because of how janky and disconnected the narrative was. Trying to understand what this movie is trying to do is like trying to stick your hand into water without getting wet.

There is nothing in the characters in this movie that makes me like or give a single **** about any of them. The destruction is so vast and unearned that I don't care if the whole planet burns. There is no interesting dynamic in how the monsters work. There is no one scene that I can think of that is so well defined either in recognizable scale or earned tension that I can even remember. It's like trying to attempt recollection of an extremely weird dream 3 hours after you had it. Time, distance, and size mean absolutely nothing in this movie. The monsters are big, but you get a feeling that their size is so variable that it it can be whatever they want it to be from one scene to the next that I'm surprised 12" Godzilla doesn't pop out of a toilet bowl and burn someone's ****

The destruction is so vast that entire cities are laid to waste, yet main characters are implausibly spared even though they're right in the middle of the mess. I'm not even sure what Mothra's role in this movie was. This was the most expensive Mad-Libs movie I've ever seen because the only good thing about it was the CGI.

Independence Day is a good bad movie. I actually felt something when Randy Quaid sacrificed himself and flew up into the butthole of the spaceship. This was a hot mess of nonsense that had no pacing or coherence. You know when you try to wing it when you cook meal out of whatever's in the fridge and nothing complements anything else and comes out nothing like the way you expected it? That's what this movie felt like. If people liked this horrible crap and hated Batman vs Superman, I put their honesty of movie appreciation squarely in question. I can forgive that crap before I forgive this steaming pile of radioactive rambling nonsense. That was a terrible movie, but at least I didn't feel like I knew where it was going.

Seriously, to the reviewer who wrote "This isn't a Shakespeare play. This isn't Driving Miss Daisy. It's GODZILLA." and then gave it a f&*king 10... A TEN... I hate you and you need to stop sharing your opinions on movies. Some people are contrarians for the sake of being contrarians and I could accept that point of view if they gave it a 7 or 8, but to give this movie a 10, you are kind of a terrible person and screaming out loud for your opinion to never be trusted again. It's such an absurd disconnect between quality _on any level_ and reality that I just can't find any way to understand what kind of brain parasite must be controlling those people, let alone believe that's an honest opinion, outside of maybe doubling down on their decision to see this movie as a validation of their taste.

This is NOT for fans of drama and character development. This IS for people who want to have a good time and watch Godzilla smash a three headed dragon into a skyscraper. It’s well made and very entertaining, and much, much better than the critics say it to be but not by much. I loved the lighting, the stage like locations and, although it got a bit hard to watch at points, the shaking edits. The colour grading in this film is spectacular. The limited blue and red colour scheme gives it an ancient, colossal feel to it.
The monsters we’re alright. I found monster zero to be dull, to say the least, Godzilla was okay, in my opinion Mothra was the best of them. But the monsters aren’t everything. The actors do their best to ask with a poorly written script and try to pull off characters that really in the end don’t have a character. Millie Bobby Brown pulls it off well. I definitely don’t agree with this point as much is the critics, The characters are simply meant to push the plot along and they succeed in this.
It succeed on the title at least, it very much is Godzilla: King of the Monsters! But in the end it results a spectacle of colours, lights and Godzilla breathing blue fire out of a dragon head, so if you are into that, go see it (definitely in IMAX)!

Godzzzzilla: King of the Monsters (ya, right!)

Well.. I didn't expect this from the MonsterVerse. They made two good movies - The 2014 Godzilla movie featuring a new and refurbished Godzilla and the 2017 rendition of King Kong set in the past on Skull Island. Both had an amazing star cast headlined by an even more amazing Titan.

King of the Monsters promised a plethora of well known monsters from the world of Godzilla. And it does give us that. King Ghidorah, Mothra, Rodan and another 12 to 14 more. The graphics are amazing especially on the big screen. Though Kong is mentioned, he does not make an appearance but they do setup up the Godzilla v Kong sequel quite cryptically. Where does the movie falter? Well, at everything else apart from the graphics. The worst part is the dialogues. Who wrote them? A 10 year old could have written something better. Better yet, you could have just cut the dialogues and given us only the monsters fighting for 2 whole hours. That would have been far more bearable despite being cliched to the core. Kyle Chandler has never been so cringe worthy. And to think he was part of Manchester By The Sea.

There is a point where the every actor on screen becomes unbearable. Vera Farmiga's (who is the go to person for any Warner Bros. Movie) intentions seem irritating, Millie Bobby Brown is better off in Stranger Things, Charles Dance was not required here, Thomas Middleditch is again another cringe-worthy addition and Ken Watanabe does what any honourable man would do when they are cast in such monstrosities. I actually feel sad for Godzilla. Poor guy has to save the human race from the mistakes they intentionally make (this includes the movie).

Unlike the original (2014), there is a lot more of the Titan screentime . Zilla gets considerable screen time. But it does not carry the impact of Gareth Edwards's 2014 version. There is a lot of history (pre-historic) regarding these Titans to be discovered. And I guess a movie on that would not hurt. King of the Monsters is like a B-movie with good visual effects.

If you loved Toho's Showa era kaiju movies, I really don't see why you wouldn't at least enjoy this sequel/love letter. It's a genuine blast! The many beautiful nods to the franchise (the good kind of fan service) will surely warm your heart and the wonderful score might even cause a nuclear meltdown in there. While the pure sensory overload of the last 20 minutes could border on assault to some and be considered too much, I don't really get the haaarsh criticism. I might be as bold to call the critics out and ask:
Do you even like these kinds of movies? This franchise? What exactly were you expecting?

Edwards' 2014 Godzilla - a very well made disaster film - cracked open the rusty gates of Hollywood's monster madness. Then Vogt-Roberts got to put his foot in with his stylish take on Kong, and now Dougherty finally kicked them down with King of the Monsters. Hopefully Wingard will be pushing at open doors with Godzilla vs. Kong come next year.
Fingers crossed...

Very loud, very dumb, and very entertaining

The third film in the "MonsterVerse" franchise, King of the Monsters is a direct sequel to Gareth Edwards's 2014 Godzilla (sadly, he didn't return as director), and sets up Godzilla vs. Kong, which is scheduled for release next summer. However, whereas Edwards held Godzilla back and made the action feel smaller by focalising it through the human characters, new director Michael Dougherty inverts that formula, putting Godzilla front and centre and shooting the action in such a way as to make it seem as grandiose as possible. He isn't half the director Edwards is, but King of the Monsters works well in a braindead summer action movie kind of way. Sure, there are significant problems (all the best shots are in the trailer, the plot is laughable, the characters are so thinly sketched as to make those in the first film feel Shakespearean), but all things considered, I enjoyed it.

Five years since Godzilla defeated the MUTOs, many more creatures (now dubbed Titans) have been found in various forms of hibernation. In charge of studying and protecting them is Monarch Sciences (introduced in a fledgling state in Kong: Skull Island, which took place in 1973). However, when an eco-terrorist, Jonah Alan (Charles Dance) steals a bioacoustics device designed to communicate with the Titans, he uses it to awaken the only non-terrestrial Titan, a fearsome three-headed dragon known as King Ghidorah. Arguing that humanity has brought the planet to the point of destruction, Jonah believes that a global Titan conflict would wipe out most of human civilisation, allowing the planet the time it needs to heal. And so, as Ghidorah awakens the various Titans, Godzilla emerges to stand against him.

Godzilla was originally conceived as a metaphor for the destructive power of nuclear weaponry, and King of the Monsters has one eye on its themes too (eco disaster, biodiversity, co-existence with other species, military impulsiveness). But really, the sermonising script by Dougherty and Zach Shields is so badly put together that any thematic concerns dissipate into nothing. And yes, it does address the fact that through inattention and greed, humanity is on the brink of ensuring its own extinction. The problem is that the eco themes are so preachy, they come across as background irrelevancies at best, and distracting moralising at worst.

And there are other problems with the script. For example, not one, not two, but three characters sacrifice themselves for the greater good, resulting in none of the sacrifices really meaning anything. Another scene that doesn't work is the death of a major character, which happens so suddenly, amidst so much chaos, with the camera on even focused on them, that in the very next scene, the film has to show us their face on a monitor with the word "Deceased" written underneath. There are also far too many scenes of characters standing on the bridge of the Monarch flagship, the ARGO, spouting exposition at one another.

There are also some spatial hijinks going on. I get that the ARGO is supposed to be super-advanced, but it seems capable of flying from one side of the planet to the other in about ten minutes. Another issue is that Zhang Ziyi plays twins. Except I didn't even realise there were two of them until I read a few reviews. Sure, I noticed what I thought was a singular character appear to be in two places at once, but because the ARGO had already been globe-hopping, I just put it down to the film's lack of geographic realism. The fact that it's so easy to miss that there are twins is spectacularly bad writing.

But for all that, I thoroughly enjoyed King of the Monsters. Although the trailer did promise what the film can't deliver on (Claude Debussy and pensive apocalypticism), aesthetically, there's a lot to admire. The sound design is suitably deafening, and Lawrence Sher's cinematography has a well-judged sense of scale, especially in the 2.39:1 3D IMAX format. The film also does some interesting things with colour, coding the Titans in binary elemental shades. There are also some extraordinary individual shots (most of which have been spoiled by the trailer); Mothra spreading her wings, Ghidorah perched atop a volcano with a crucifix in the foreground, the reveal of Godzilla's lair. And the final shot is a goosebumps moment with which no Kaiju fan could possibly be dissatisfied. Purely at the level of craft, this is a hugely impressive film.

Citizen Kane it most certainly isn't, but who expected (or wanted) it to be. The key to really parsing it is to consider the context, looking at what it was trying to be. And in this sense, it's a success. Sure, the script is hideous, and Dougherty struggles to accomplish what Edwards did with ease; bring his own personality to the spectacle. However, if you approach it for what it is, a dumb summer blockbuster about large monsters punching each other, you'll like it just fine.

Plot was poorly constructed and the acting, save the performance by a few individuals such as Ken Watanabe, left little to be desired. CGI was good, though dark; much of the film was filmed at night or in dark places, so it appears bleak in many parts. This did allow for effects like lightning and energy to appear more vibrant, though the monsters often blended into the scenery. In a film about monsters larger than life, no fight scene focused on the monsters for more than a few seconds. Fights would last a minute or so, but only centered on the actual monsters for the beginning and conclusion to the fight. Similar to Pacific Rim 2 in that the best fight was saved for the end, but different in that each fight cut away to humans running away consistently enough to pull you out of the film. Truly disappointing and would not recommend this film. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A fantastic Godzilla movie, way better than its 2014 predecessor, with much more Godzilla, loads of kaiju action, and an actual cast of likable and interesting human characters. Bringing back the big four classic monsters from Toho, this movie brings Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan and the evil Ghidorah to their full potential while staying true to their classic lore. The only downside is that you don't see as much Mothra and Rodan as you the other two monsters fighting for the fate of the world and there is one ugh scene where Godzilla and Ghidorah charge at each other, only to cut away to the monarch ship watching them fight from a distance. Aside from that, with a tremendous music score, I highly recommend anyone who loves the Godzilla movies or have an interest in the franchise to check this one out. Expand

What a boring train wreck of a film, why do they continue to make these CGI films?
There is no substance to this film, it is so predictable and the plot is forced contrived nonsense.

I would say that the acting was terrible except that the actors really did not have a script, it feels like they made the big CGI action sequences first then tried to stitch them together with an improvised, clichéd, plot hole filled, nonsensical, incomprehensible plot.

The actors are all stereo types that we have seen so many times before, lazy writing from a lazy production team who have no imagination or care for the craft of film making.

I advise you to wait till this nonsense comes out on video and fast forward to the monster fights, seriously there is no point watching anything that happens between the fight scenes, indeed, the crap acting and contrived dialogue will make you sick.

Something else that is abundantly clear, they have seriously gone overboard with the fake reviews, I do not think I have seen so many fake bot / studio reviews.
It is shameful that they do this, it is a real pity they did not put as much work into creating a decent script the good - monster fights the bad – EVERYTHING ELSE!

I thought the humans were relatively good even though there wasn't as much character depth to most of the side characters. So it shocks me to see this movie being reviewed so poorly even by those who say they are fans of the monster, and I think the reason for that is because of the bar the MCU has set for cinematic universes. Marvel mastered character and character development having us fall in love with (almost) every character for a different reason. This has made people expect the same from any other universe that comes out nowadays and its a double edged sword. It has made film makers realize that we expect higher quality in our movies but it also leads to good movies (like this one) being chastised for not living up to the legacy that marvel has left behind when they do not need to. The characters and plot in this movie may not be much to write home about but there is at least some level of emotional depth with the human characters and the monsters alike. And as stated before it builds great lore for these gigantic creatures and even gives them distinct personalities. Yet still the critics that went into the movie wanting deep characters and story will often say its nonsensical or just say it didn't exist in the film at all. It is the complete opposite though and if your not one to harp over deep story lines and character development you will find this film to be amazing. And f you are a long time Godzilla fan you may just tear up from the film. Overall the movie was a joyride from the start to the end and i wasn't let down in the slightest. Don't let the the critic's words sway you into not seeing this movie if you we're looking forward to it. A movie doesn't always need deep characters and a philosophical plot to be fun. Sometimes it just needs to be fun. 8/10 from me no question. Expand

Godzilla 2: King of Monsters surrenders with the primacy of the audio visual show that promises and succeeds in getting and exhaling a few sighs from fans of the character who should be extremely satisfied with what they saw, is a great fun uncompromised, has a scene post credits in the end that is a very nice hook / reference.

There's barely any 'Titan' on scene. The movie is also poorly edited. It jump from one camera view to another every 0.2 seconds like it's a Jason Borne movie. Also whose idea is to always shoot the film at night? Fire that person and exile him from Earth now. I can barely see anything and half of the time I wonder if there's some error to the projector. It's like paying to see black screen.

The director lied "Godzilla got double time on scene compare to the 2014 one" and should be hold accountable. Well you can argue he didn't lie, but imagine this. There's Titan fight scene that last 60 seconds. The 1st 5 seconds is overview shot that show who will fight who and one of them throw the first punch. Then the next 45 seconds the camera switch to some dudes running around the fight, with occasionally glimpse of either titans' foot or tail that randomly enter the camera at the background. Then for the last 10 seconds the camera zoom out and show the winner and the other run away or die. Yeah in previous movie it's 30 seconds of full fight and other 30 seconds of characters doing other thing. But this time it's 60 seconds of fight that we barely see anything because the camera is from character POW and we mostly see buildings or cloud or what with a glimpse of the fight behind them. The 45 seconds that focus on character didn't even move the plot forward like the (2014) one.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. A surprising opening for fans who have wanted to see the clash of the titans. We are established immediately in the narrative we have waited to see. A powerful actor effected by Godzilla. He comes crashing into frame in the beginning of the movie and it looks it is competent enough to shock you. If you almost had a heart attack at that encounter just wait till you get to the underwater oil tanker base of Monarch Before that we must adjust this films story with the correct characters in the wrong role with Emma Russell clearly a woman who is about to snap because her perfect daughter who is just like her needs to have been the one killed by Godzilla. A brother to Madison son of Emma and friend to Mark Russell that is part of the family and is there in the background. Mark Russell is portrayed as a grieving father who has enough back story to carry the entire film. Vera Farmigas lines we parody "..she was my world .. she was my everything "She was so important to me from this speech which the movie in whole hinges upon the movie can draw itself to the amazing art FILM narrative and achievement We can get to what I have been waiting for my whole life the monster duels the battles the duels and the incredible engagements of monsters I grew up watching on black and white television for so many years. The filmmakers clearly thought about this when scaling planning making and choreographing the fights. We go into the part of the film where doctor Monarch doctor Vivienne Graham doesn't get killed off by a monster because shes too interesting a character When Godzilla comes close to Monarchs oil tank underwater zone and base Rick Stantons line what are you DOING DUDE is cut to go into experiencing Godzilla in his full We run ahead to when Emma realizes Gojira has taken control from her and she is the person who chooses Madison russell's decisions and owns her plan and her choices and her scheme. Mark Russell and the crew are played exactly the same until the end of the movie when Emma who has refused to use her invention to save people and help the earth instead using the orca to strengthen gojira the Godzilla gojira battle goes to plan and remains as awesome Emma Russell and Mark have to work to save the world set aside their pain love their son and drop their differences to save the earth Getting to the crucial point Mark arch's fully by grabbing the orca sending his wife his Son and the monarch leaders into the air He is engulfed he is confronted by the rage he has for Godzilla for his lack of options & by his acceptance of the path GODZILLA and this solution He is really and metaphorically covered engulfed and surrounded by his grief and grabs the orca surrounded by red sox stadium surrounded by Godzilla and surrounded by yellow lightning exclaims in recovering from his grief and while acting drunk "HAIL TO THE KING" Godzilla acts in the film the nuclear bomb explodes saving the world from the alpha titan GOJIRA We of course later see on monarchs plain emma russell along with all the great monarch and powerful female and Women pose Emma posing ANTAGONIST And we have a reminder and of course a memorial for doctor Serizawa The scene we remember the movie we cut back to is the yellow lightning of GOJIRA screaming in MASSACHUSETTS Yellow lightning of Gojira screeching across FENWAY and our past patriots making world history SURROUNDED BY CLOUDS High Five watching the yellow lighting Patriots high five IN THE clouds This film has everything you dreamed of seeing Godzilla vs GOJIRA the alpha GOJIRA titan landing upon Corcovado Christ the Redeemer and the brilliant MARK RUSSELL line to see Godzilla defeat the Alpha titan GOJIRA and save all humanity and the earth. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Let's be honest, the human characters in this film aren't very likable. But the kaiju fights play a true homage to what these films are all about: monsters!

The CGI team did an excellent job with making scenes that looked raw and destructive.

I guess I could see how you’d think it would be bad if you know NOTHING or seen anything about Godzilla, but even that. This movie had amazing acting, and Godzilla was at his finest. Long live the King.

There were so many plot holes that could have been fixed with only 1 extra day of critical thought. The CG was awesomely intense and the sound design even better - so it's great if you don't care about stupidity of the whole thing. I just wish I didn't have the same expectations as the first film. I couldn't care less about the one-dimensional human characters. They should have had more character development and less one-liners. Its a shame because this film had a lot of potential. Expand

And they made that into a big-budget movie, word for word, with effects that look exactly like 1997 video-game graphics. That's Godzilla. It's just the most idiotic infantile thing you ever saw. Every lame, tired cliche from previous disaster movies is included like a recipe:

* Great big video-game monstas that move real slow and walk real loud;
* Constant "SHOOM... SHOOOM... SHOOOOOM!" sound effects;
* The gay-glasses-guy who wisecracks annoyingly but un-funnily all through the film;
* The child who gets separated from parents and is constant danger;
* Lame, blue-toned video-game CGI;
* Separated family members screaming "NOOOO!" as they get separated;
* The music and monsta-fight-noise stop politely when characters need to have an emotional talk during the crisis;
* Explosions and massive flying objects moving WAY too fast, but somehow missing everybody;
* Blubbering family reunion at the end.

Since it seems to have been written by a 7th grader, it really doesn't quite make sense and after a while, it's impossible to follow the narrative (if any), with all the scene and character changes -- like how they all suddenly end up in Boston when they were just in Mexico or the Gulf of Mexico?

Anyhow, if you're a very immature 7th grader, you might like this, but otherwise, for Godzilla's sake stay away!

When I first saw the first one 5 years ago the hype of that film was worth it and I can say I feel the same to this latest Godzilla film in the new monsterverse and I have to say this is by far one of the best Godzilla film I have seen in a long time. The story was great, it had interesting ideas and character development and best of all and this is the first they gave Godzilla his original roar and even the 1954 roar in one scene which was the best thing I had seen and my reaction on it was shocking and I was happy.

King Ghidorah was also an amazing but terrorizing monster in the film and at one scene made my mouth drop was him eating one of the main cast which I love how the middle head is like not liking this at all, and when he does get his comeuppance by Godzilla it was by far my favorite scene in the movie.

If there is one thing I do have to complain about is the critic and bad reviews on this film docent make any sense.

Perfect Example, some say that there too much monster fights and not many human scenes? Kinda weird since its the opposite of what critics and fans me me included not a lot of monster fight and lots of human scenes?

When I went to see this film on June 2nd I didn’t notice this at all since it was 50% human and monster scenes. And I can say this was more lighter then Godzilla 2014 as I will agree that one was kinda hard to see as it was shot or put in night time.

In the end, this is still a great film way more better than the Netflix anime film, And I am happy that the wait is finally over and I’m looking for to Godzilla vs Kong next year. This film is a 9.5/10.

It's not the best Godzilla movie, but dang is it up there. The humans could be a lil better written but the ratio of humans to monsters was great. It really feels like the director loved Godzilla and wanted to do him justice.
Also much love

I only give it a 9 because of human characters. Not everyone is Millie Bob Brown or Ken Watanabe. The Kaiju are amazing, King Ghidorah is majestic and the movie oozes love and respect to its source material.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie appeals to the Hardcore Godzilla fanbase that has existed since the first movie in 1954. Yes, there are minor flaws like the movie cutting away during major fight scenes, but it makes up in amazing visuals through the introduction of the 4 main monsters.Yes there are more than 4 monsters.This movie never slows down, because it always leaves you on the edge of your seat. The monster fights that are in this movie never seem to disappoint and any Godzilla or monster fan will enjoy this movie no problem.Thd best part of this movie is the ending fight between Godzilla and King Ghidorah. Would rate it higher but my phone can't scroll over to anything past 8. Great monster stuff, visuals, music, and fan service. Clunky writing, but that's not the reason to go see this. Longer than the first movie but feels shorter.

The story and human character make no sense or just plain dumb At some point you begin to wonder if the Godzilla monster smack-down you paid to watch happen on screen for the brief time that it does is worth all the garbage you have to go through with the human characters. If you like big dumb action movies where you don't have to think and where the best bits are just a smear of colors and CGI then you'll like this movie. Bottom line, wait until this is out on redbox so you can fastforward through the crap with the humans. Or better yet just wait until the 4K scenes are eventually uploaded to Youtube. Expand

>fights where you can barely see anything - always night and rain,cut to planes or humans running
>they are trying to be serious but don't have a consitent tone
>unlikeable charaters - the mom is a psycho, child a brat
>there are like 30 more characters and none of them matters
>everyone acts stupid and unreasonable - there is a threehundred feet monster let's touch it
>dumbed-down - Let two more characters explain the same thing again.
>Remember Mutos? We call them Titans now because the audience will be confused with new words >the lamest Hollywood tropes - and now for drama reasons someone has to sacrifice himself
>something, something monsters balance nature eco bullsh*t.

I can't remember the last time I was so mad at a movie. The movies is to dumb for adults and too serious for children.
