Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and his suitcase full of magical creatures are back showing up in the most inconvenient times and locations during Grindelwald’s (Mads Mikkelsen) attempt to seize power and begin war with the muggles. Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) must now assemble a team of unlikely heroes to stop his nemesis.

The Fantastic Beasts franchise has continued to suffer from the same mistakes of the previous two movies. Very much the way The Hobbit movies were stretched out into an unnecessary trilogy, The Secrets of Dumbledore has fallen into the same trap, which makes you question why this whole franchise exists in the first place. Fantastic Beasts is a few ideas dragged out into five feature length movies in which we’re only just past the half way mark, continually building you to the epic showdown between two of the world’s most powerful wizards, Dumbledore and Grindelwald, but Eddie and his suitcase are there too for some reason.

Yes Eddie is still the main character but I’d argue that the far more interesting story lies between Jude Law and Mads Mikkelsen. There are however plenty of adorable CGI creatures to look at in between all the drama. In case you’re wondering, yes the visuals are stunning but I’d expect nothing less at this stage. Sadly a few cute CGI creatures and the onscreen presence of Mads Mikkelsen isn’t enough to save the film.

I’d happily re-watch the Harry Potter movies on a loop until I die whereas with Fantastic Beasts I don’t have anywhere near the desire to ever see them again. Perhaps in the hands of a different director these could have been better movies as all the right ingredients are there, unfortunately it just doesn’t come together as well as it should. Also that’s difficult when it’s trapped in the massive shadow of Harry Potter and the sense of awe and wonder that created. Sure the magical world has been expanded yet again and it’s impressive to see the magical universe and all that comes with that but it’s still lacking.

This is a franchise that desperately tries to fill the void left when Harry Potter ended and honestly at this rate if they decided not to bother with the sequels I don’t think too many people would be upset about it. Recommended for the fans of the other Fantastic Beasts movies, just don’t expect it to be anywhere near the standard of Harry Potter.… Expand

This movie got so boring so quickly I had to clench my teeth to finish watching it. It isn't worth watching at all, let alone paying to watch it. It's slow, convoluted, slow, incomprehensible, and boring (did I mention slow?). Don't waste your time.

Very slow and boring missing the magic you used to get with Harry Potter. Weird woke parts within 5mins to please a certain group so annoying. Mads was amazing but no reason to replace Johnny. Overall I hope this is the last of these!

Its not great, or even average. The movie is bland, horrifying acting and scripts which are just plain bad and lazy. The plot is interesting and there a very few moments of emotion and joy. The movies just get worse and worse for this franchise.

In summary, this is one wizarding movie that should've been (made and) left as a novel instead. What a borefest it must be to those who saw it in the theaters!
The cast probably did their best, but the plot really couldn't be helped.

We attended the movie on a Saturday afternoon 8 days after the movie's release date and there were only 8 other people in the theatre! The movie has plot issues and continues with the main problems of the fantastic beasts franchise. Mads Mikklesen is good as Grindelwald, and Jude Law is good as dumbledore but they can’t carry this movie on their own.

If you are going into this as a long time fan of the Harry Potter series you will undoubtedly come out of it disappointed. One of the most spineless attempts at storytelling I've ever had the displeasure to watch. I mainly wanted to write this review to coin the term "Vote Goat" in reference to the little creature who decides the electoral process based on who it deems pure of heart. Dear god help us if a character written by J.K. Rowling is the one judging people's characters. The refusal to bring back Johnny Depp after the hell he's been through is very telling of the absolute horror show that is J.K.'s empty shell of a heart.

Also, the Dumbledore/ Grindelvold dynamic is literally just Professor X and Magneto. I know that old crone watched those movies and then had an unrelated dream in which she invented it, but it's not subtle, nor is it remotely even as well fleshed out.

Also also, they added the Mirror Dimension from Doctor Strange, and I know that's where the idea came from, because they cast the bad guy from Doctor Strange in the movie.

Also also also, the previous movie ended on a cliffhanger where the bad guy wants to, in a roundabout way, prevent the holocaust. So, the entire subtext of this film includes our wacky heroes actively trying to stop the bad guy from preventing the holocaust. Just a fun note that is also very telling of how much of a garbage human being Ms. Rowling is. If you need a reminder, she's the same lady who wrote a slave race into her children's books and said it was okay to leave them enslaved because they "liked it."

Completely wasted the whole potential of a series about beasts, if they wanted a dumbledore prologue that should have been the series. Not cramming it in here. Each film has got progressively worse, god help the final two films.

Went on and on and on. I felt like I walked into the middle of a series, and I guess I did. Everyone else knew but me. A silly movie where no children attended, and the adults walked in and out – more than we usually see.

Absolutely farcical.
First remove Depp and replace with, quite frankly, a worse actor for the role.
Then you go and mess with dumbledore. WB have taken the franchise and just thrown it at the wall and thrown out the remains to the audience.Absolutely farcical.

This film is simply a sequences of casual stuff, there isn't a moovie trama.

the only actor good in his character is Albus Dumbledore-Jude Law (with a personality more similar with te book than the last 5 Harry Potter's film, so better than Michael John Gambon)
