Absolutely farcical.
First remove Depp and replace with, quite frankly, a worse actor for the role.
Then you go and mess with dumbledore. WB have taken the franchise and just thrown it at the wall and thrown out the remains to the audience.

The film was slow and underwhelming with next to no magic....... you know the thing people watch a HP movie for. All in all I hope that there's been a mass boycott after WB took decisions based on poor decisions and they will look at redoing it with more energy and the right actors

Although Johnny Depp is very missed as he did a wonderful job, Mads does a fantastic job doing justice to the character of grindelwald! Eddie Redmaynes portrayal of Newt is my favourite character in the Harry Potter universe and Jude Law portrays perfectly a young dumbeldore! I sincerely hope they continue make a fourth instalment as the team does a wonderful job! Expand

The movie is about nothing. Loss of money and two hours of life. Instead of development of the characters and answering the audience's questions - this movie is a spit in the face of the audience.

Don't listen to the critics this 3rd movie is so much better than the other 2. If you find the first 2 boring, you won't be disappointed as The Secrets Of Dumbledore has man y more interesting scenes with quite a lot of action. Also, the politics of the is movie and its overall story is very interesting and feels a lot more similar to a classic Harry Potter movie than the first 2. Mads also plays Grindewald brilliantly despite the disgraceful sacking of Depp. The characters are very engaging and a lot of them have strange motives or are just very funny. Overall, I think that this movie is very underrated and definitely worth watching. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Fantastic Beast: The Secrets of Dumbledore was such a good movie. As much as I love Johnny Depp and totally support him, I feel like this role just wasn’t for him. When Johnny depp was playing the character it just didn’t feel real, he just looked to insane for it to look like Dumbledore actually fell for him. (If that makes sense). Mads Mikkelsen did a great job in portraying his character. Mads already had the kind of charm and look that the character needed, he didn’t have to change his whole appearance to look like the character aged up. I get that the character is supposed to have white hair but it makes more sense for the character to look older and not exactly how he is supposed to look. Anyways, I watched this movie with some of my friends and we totally enjoyed it. It had such a good plot and you would never get bored. The movie had a bit of everything romance, adventure, thrill, ect. I 100% recommend it and I’m sure you’ll have a great time! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Newt and his animals really need to stay out of the Dumbledore vs Grindelwald conflict, it really muddies the tone of the movie from the dark gritty civil war to cute fun animal scenes. Unlike the previous movie, this movie at least makes fantastic beasts an integral plot to the movie, that being the magic deer to determine elections. Doing so makes the movie stupid though, like if everyone watching the twitch live stream at the end of the movie knows Grindelwald is lying about the deer bowing to him then how is he going to have any followers for the next two movies? Jacob, Newt, and Newt's assistant are constantly being shoehorned into these movies for no reason. Why put a muggle in major danger doing wizard quests against the most dangerous wizards? It seems Dumbledore is very irresponsible and not thinking straight. Let's get a muggle to do a wizard cop's job and hope he doesn't die like Jacob should've stopped being relevant after the first movie. Let the man bake and keep him out of wizarding problems for once. Hell, why not get Tina to replace Jacob? She's a wizard and a wizard cop she's an instant upgrade. I'm glad they got rid of Nagini, she really has no reason to be in any of these movies besides an "Oh look it's a character from Harry Potter" moment. I have no hate towards Eddie, Depp, or Mads, but I just want Newt to have his own separate TV show/movie not connected to the wizard war. Mads does a way better job at being Grindelwald than Depp. Important aspects like the blood pact, Queenie's redemption, and Credence's arc, were all rushed in this movie and concluded too soon. Overall, a decent movie if you turn your brain off, but if you start to think about the plot it all starts crumbling like Voldemort at the end of Deathly Hallows. Expand

For me the Credence stuff felt underwhelming. Although the conclusion is fine be me, the way we get there is kind of trivial. A very weak part of the story. The first two movie focused so much on Credence, now it felt like disconnected and like a third plot lines that tries hard to exit that character (because of Miller's problems?). The acting was very good. The CGI were precise but there is a long period with no action. I would say the film has a definitive political side to it. The music is interesting. The sounds effects are fine too. I give it 72%. It's a fine movie but it has it's downside in terms of story intensity. And what was going on with Yusuf ? Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I thought this film was the best of the Fantastic Beasts series. While the movie wasn’t a fast paced action film, that’s good! Not all film needs to be as flashy as Fast and Furious. I was in a packed theater and everybody loved it! I think there are a lot of people going into this film wanting it to be bad. I’ll admit, I had low expectations as I didn’t like the last one and I was shocked that this one is now one of my favorite films! I cried, laughed, gasped, and felt every emotion one should during a film. It was a nice change with Mads…I’m hoping they do CGI and put him in place of Depp, because he was perfect for the role.

My only complaints were that they rushed Queenie’s storyline a bit, I felt like she needed to be given more time both on the dark side and more time for her unraveling from the dark side.

Honestly leaving Tina out helped the story immensely as her character is awkward and flat, so seeing her in the end was the perfect amount for me.

I loved the new characters and the development of Jacob within the series. I loved Lolly! She was a great addition—and a nice touch that she was teased in the previous film. It was nice to see the brothers have more time on screen together even if their seen was a tad but silly. I wish the end weren’t as rushed, but I loved the fight between Albus and Grindelwald. I wish that credence had a bit more time in that ending as I think it’s plausible he won’t return in the next film, but I’m so thankful they made the twist to his place in the Dumbledore family.

But most of all, the magic felt fun and exciting, and brought back that OG HP spirit. Between the scoring and the use of subtle Easter eggs this was a great film.

I’m glad they brought on a second writer. JK is a novelist and it shows in her first two screenplays of the series. I feel like they were able to wonderfully adapt her work to a film friendly environment in this iteration. 10/10!

It turned out to be the happy medium between the first and second movie like I expected it would, but it still kinda fell flat. I honestly don’t have too much to say about the movie (or the “Fantastic Beasts” series). It was a “political spy movie” with wizard stuff sprinkled in.

I am to understand that this is supposed to be a series of five movies. I can’t imagine them being able to squeeze 2 more movies out of this story. Everything was sort of wrapped up in “The Secrets of Dumbledore,” and two more movies would feel like a HUGE stretch. Maybe end it on the fourth film.

In The Crimes of Grindelwald I waited the whole film to see those crimes and they never appeared.
This time in The Secrets of Dumbledore I kept waiting for those secrets, but they didn't show up either.
I mean, there's a confirmation about a certain character in that family but that's it.

As with its predecessor, it's become very clear that J.K. Rowling doesn't have enough material for this prequel saga and she's basically filling in the gaps with what she can.

With this third instalment, the total absence of direction is the constant feature of what we are seeing on screen.

With the exception of a more action-focused tone, a distinctly fascist flavor clearly inspired by our present day that is infused into the character of Gellert Grindelwald, and that Mads Mikkelsen playing him is a monumental improvement over Johnny Depp; Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is an improvement over its predecessor, but it's also another disappointing addition to the franchise of the Wizarding World that fails to capture the magic and grace that made the Harry Potter films so famous.

More than that, it's obvious. JK Rowling's classic plot twists don't excite, although the fan services work more in this one than in the previous one.

Mads Mikkelsen is a welcome addition to the cast and manages to intimidate just by looking.

Maybe JK should focus more on writing her stories than wasting time on Twitter. By the way, the film explores Dumbledore and Grindelwald's passion well.

The film pays tribute to Brazilian fans, but fails to save one of the greatest franchises of all time.

Technically it's beautiful, but I couldn't help but notice Newt Scamander's hand holding 'nothing' in the opening sequence.

The success of the 20th anniversary special of “The Philosopher's Stone” only proves one thing. It's time to stop telling a story from the past and put Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint back on the big screen, even if we don't like The Cursed Child very much.

Although the Fantastic Beasts films do have issues, none of them is the story, which has been enthralling from the start. The performances are once again top-notch, with Jude Law delivering his second perfect outing as Albus Dumbledore and Mads Mikkelsen showing what Gellert Grindelwald should be (and I spent three years thinking Johnny Depp was perfect).

Depp was brilliant and what happened to him unjustifiable, but Mikkelsen is perfect as Grindelwald and whom David Yates, the director of every Wizarding World film since Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, originally wanted for Grindelwald. He provides the charm and charisma, and cunning, presence, and malice that encapsulates Grindelwald, without the cartooniness of Depp's look and, sometimes, acting. He's a dialled-down Grindelwald in many respects, but to his benefit not detriment - he's grounded in reality, a trait that the Wizarding World has always strived for and encompassed, which makes him so much more visceral, and real, and makes him feel like a huge threat.

Seven is the most magically powerful number, and David Yates' seventh Wizarding World film lives up to the standards set by its eight Harry Potter and two Fantastic Beasts forebears, delivering a nuanced, intricate, and powerful story that is also alight with spectacle and photo-realistic CGI, including old and new beasts that aren't token inclusions but fundamental to the story and great to learn about, and gorgeous outdoor environments and indoor sets.

Although hardcore fans like myself love the plot and pacing of Secrets of Dumbledore's middlingly received predecessor, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Secrets of Dumbledore shows its creators learnt from their mistakes and listened to the justified criticisms of the previous instalment. Steve Kloves, the screenwriter of every Harry Potter film bar Order of the Phoenix and producer of the Fantastic Beasts films, has aided in writing a wonderful script for Secrets of Dumbledore that is packed with emotion, depth, action, and humour.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore has proven itself worthy of the four year wait. It is a brilliant third chapter in the Fantastic Beasts series and sets up its latter half to have a thrilling journey and conclusion.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is absolutely phenomenal. Absolutely phenomenal. It has a beautiful story (as did Where to Find Them and Crimes of Grindelwald) and was beautifully shot. The beasts looked photo-realistic and were absolutely amazing to see and learn about, and Mads Mikkelsen is the perfect Grindelwald. I cried so much, and will be seeing it every week until it leaves theatres.

Senza Johnny Deep, il film non merita di essere visto data l'insensatezza della sua esclusione dalla pellicola

Fantastic Beasts & the Secret Crimes of Grindelwald & Dumbledore is back with another instalment that isn’t quite great but it’s not awful either, it’s a painfully average film that I’d only really recommend to fans of the series right now,Fantastic Beasts & the Secret Crimes of Grindelwald & Dumbledore is back with another instalment that isn’t quite great but it’s not awful either, it’s a painfully average film that I’d only really recommend to fans of the series right now, that is if there are any left.

Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and his suitcase full of magical creatures are back showing up in the most inconvenient times and locations during Grindelwald’s (Mads Mikkelsen) attempt to seize power and begin war with the muggles. Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) must now assemble a team of unlikely heroes to stop his nemesis.

The Fantastic Beasts franchise has continued to suffer from the same mistakes of the previous two movies. Very much the way The Hobbit movies were stretched out into an unnecessary trilogy, The Secrets of Dumbledore has fallen into the same trap, which makes you question why this whole franchise exists in the first place. Fantastic Beasts is a few ideas dragged out into five feature length movies in which we’re only just past the half way mark, continually building you to the epic showdown between two of the world’s most powerful wizards, Dumbledore and Grindelwald, but Eddie and his suitcase are there too for some reason.

Yes Eddie is still the main character but I’d argue that the far more interesting story lies between Jude Law and Mads Mikkelsen. There are however plenty of adorable CGI creatures to look at in between all the drama. In case you’re wondering, yes the visuals are stunning but I’d expect nothing less at this stage. Sadly a few cute CGI creatures and the onscreen presence of Mads Mikkelsen isn’t enough to save the film.

I’d happily re-watch the Harry Potter movies on a loop until I die whereas with Fantastic Beasts I don’t have anywhere near the desire to ever see them again. Perhaps in the hands of a different director these could have been better movies as all the right ingredients are there, unfortunately it just doesn’t come together as well as it should. Also that’s difficult when it’s trapped in the massive shadow of Harry Potter and the sense of awe and wonder that created. Sure the magical world has been expanded yet again and it’s impressive to see the magical universe and all that comes with that but it’s still lacking.

This is a franchise that desperately tries to fill the void left when Harry Potter ended and honestly at this rate if they decided not to bother with the sequels I don’t think too many people would be upset about it. Recommended for the fans of the other Fantastic Beasts movies, just don’t expect it to be anywhere near the standard of Harry Potter.
