I think there are far too many superhero movies that don't add anything to the genre, but this wasn't one of them. For a superhero film it was AWESOME, it actually had a plot that was compelling and interesting, the special effects wereI think there are far too many superhero movies that don't add anything to the genre, but this wasn't one of them. Fantastic movie by any means - only better because of it being an MCU movie. For me, this is a strong contender for the best Marvel movie yet. I rate it only behind Avengers and Thor 2 because I prefer the sci fi genre to political thrillers,Fantastic movie by any means - only better because of it being an MCU movie. Caught Captain America: The Winter Soldier yesterday and it really is a great movie. And it would help if you watched the first Captain America I don't think it's absolutely necessary but some parts will go by you. This is hands down, in the top three of all of the Marvel movies. Absolutely up there with Ironman 1 and Avengers. The reviewers are seriously pretentious idiots for thinking this does not rank better.

Winter Soldier is the best movie about Captain America at this moment. Story is interesting spy action with nice special effects and few unexpected moments. Those people who liked movies about comics or good action movies, I'm certainly recommend.

Easily the best film in the Marvel franchise to date. Fast paced, exciting ,with devastatingly effective fight scenes and a good sense of drama with a hint on intrigue. Don't go into this expecting a Captain American movie. This is a S.H.I.E.L.D movie. The political and moral ideals explored here kept me extremely interested throughout. The themes explored here make you think about whose side you really want to take, and while Marvel pushes Captain America's right wing "uncompromised freedom" angle, the Hydra's "freedom in order" was very interesting. I hated the first Captain America movie, but the way this one was put together made this possibly the best super hero movie I've ever seen other than The Dark Knight Rises. The combination of the themes I mentioned above and the excellent action sequences made it a movie that included everything I love about movies. Robert Redford and Samuel L. Jackson deliver the standout performances here and some of their exchanges are just some of the best acting I've ever seen. I was also surprised by Chris Evans who I felt was the weakest link in the first movie. He plays this character, that I'm not exactly fond of, really well. The film also has one of the greatest villains in an action movie. The Winter Soldier is smart. He is an equal to the films protagonist and that's what made him so excellent. See this movie. If you have any interest in film, Marvel, politics, morality, or Captain America, this is a must see film.… Expand

The first Captain America movie was great but this was even better. As great as a mainline Avengers movie, features a lot of the cast, cameos are mentioned per MCU storyline and tons of action scenes. Also great OST.

The success of 'The Avengers' back in 2012 was undoubtedly going to usher in another phase of films from the ever expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe. Robert Downey Jr. was the first to suit up for the third Iron Man outing and his fourth forThe success of 'The Avengers' back in 2012 was undoubtedly going to usher in another phase of films from the ever expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe. Robert Downey Jr. was the first to suit up for the third Iron Man outing and his fourth for the franchise overall. The third entry in the Iron Man franchise proved to be riding the wave of the massively successful Avengers, taking a huge haul at the box office. Next up was Chris Hemsworth as the muscle bound god of thunder Thor.
Both proved to be successes, the former continuing to impress while the latter was better than the first outing but still left plenty of room for improvement. But the first avenger to start it all was Steve Rogers as Captain America, his first film was good but not great, it had a wonderful retro feel to its first half until it took an explosive and predictable path for its final hour, each event leading into The Avengers. Cap was always difficult to put in front of an audience that nowadays demands darkness and gritty realism over charm and light-hearted antics. He stands for goodness and doing what's right, something that isn't very sought after in modern day heroics.
But in this sequel to the 2011 film, it's a different time and a much different film. Not only does it improve upon the last solo outing, but it could very well be the best film to come out of the Marvel franchise so far. The man who was frozen in time returns with Chris Evans again putting the famous shield on his arm, he now works for S.H.I.E.L.D. who continue to be a very secretive organisation which Cap is determined to get to the bottom of. He works closely alongside fellow operative Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson). The witty chemistry between these two is easily one of the highlights of the film, even in the stickiest of situations, the writers manage to infuse some comic relief that works every time. But the threat this time in the film is much closer to home as S.H.I.E.L.D. itself is the centre of attention for all the wrong reasons. Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) is given a much larger and more pivotal role in the Winter Soldier, the more Sam Jackson the better if you ask me! The story plays out in thrilling fashion as a mole within headquarters has each of our good guys on their hit list. The great alliance is now in tatters and someone that Cap has never dealt with is hunting himself and his friends down. Who better to send after them than the mythical Winter Soldier, he may just seem like a master assassin with a metal arm and anger issues, but there is much more of a story going on behind the mask that plays a part in a film that finds balance between emotional repercussions while also entertaining the fans with explosive set pieces, thrilling fist fights and a fantastic car chase involving director Fury, it all packs a heavy punch while infusing the film with superior wit and charm, especially from supporting cast member Anthony Mackie who dons a familiar pair of wings as the plot unfolds. The story delves very deep into the history of the S.H.I.E.L.D organisation while also outlining the problems that face a company who is trying to do everything right by preventing crime before it happens, "What about freedom?" the Cap asks, always there to detail the line between right and wrong. Chris Evans himself is on fine form and he acts out a very emotional script that paints Steve Rodgers as a man who is unsure about what to do with his life after the secrets of the people he works for start to unravel. It pays homage to the first film while also solidifying itself as possibly the best Marvel film so far, it has everything that could possibly be imagined and just when you think that it can't get any better, Robert Redford shows his face along with several other strong characters, there are surprises at every turn but enough of the same characters we've come to know from previous films to add up an adventurous, pulsating and epic adventure that could be the best film of the year. Stay for not one but two credit scenes, one in the middle and one at the end, mind blowing!… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Captain America is overall a cool superhero. His powers of super strength are just epic. So that is why I felt the first film was kind of boring. I mean we had a guy who he hated and was a Nazi and so he can easily kill him if he wanted to. While that proved to be difficult and he may have not killed him he still sure showed him who's boss. However, in this film the Cap must face his best friend Bucky aka The Winter Solider. This is hard for him and we see that in the end when he says he will not fight Bucky. So we get to see an emotional side of the film. Then of course the action and special effects are great and Scarlet Johannson is very good as Black Widow. In the end this movie is amazing filled with great acting and of course the emotional side of the film concerning Bucky and all the sadness that fills Cap when he sees Buck die in the first film and then finds out he is still alive but is bad.… Expand

Easily my new favorite Disney Marvel film due to the fact that the films plot is just so beautifully presented and how everything flows so smoothly and gracefully through all the gritty dark themes that are starting to became a lot more present in the Disney Marvel universe and the fact that the Character Captain America finally feels as if he has found is place within the universe and 2 me is one of the new best characters within this expanding universe. I could go on and on about how astonishing the film is but 2 sum it up, GO WATCH THE FILM, u will be entertained and taking away by the amazing acting, plot, characters and jaw dropping action scenes.

Without a doubt the best Marvel movie. Not only is it insanely engaging (the fight choreographies give Bourne a run for its money), it has a very thought provoking and clever story about the importance of trust and ideals. Chris Evans proves once again why he was a perfect pick for the lead (the speech near the climax has him at his finest moment), and the suppprting cast plays with him very well.

okay, we're getting a pretty great build-up to "The Avengers 2" next year. we had Thor and Iron Man, and now we've come to America! yeah, that's right. it's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier". the sequel to "Captain America: The Firstokay, we're getting a pretty great build-up to "The Avengers 2" next year. we had Thor and Iron Man, and now we've come to America! yeah, that's right. it's "Captain America: The Winter Soldier". the sequel to "Captain America: The First Avenger" from 2011, and it's probably Cap's first modern movie where he's on his own. and i was excited to see that. well, he's still working for the S.H.I.E.L.D and they send him to deal with everything and **** goes down! so, this is the first action/thriller movie directed by the Russo brothers and i gotta say: as their first try, they did a great job in this movie! what i loved about this movie is that, instead of just being a great superhero movie, it's also a really good political thriller too. it was really well, like i loved the theories that's going on like "don't trust anybody", and Cap's in the middle cause he trusts everybody. but now, he starts to look around and when you look at the world that he's in against the one he came from, you can totally see that he doesn't really know where he belongs anymore. i thought the Russos did a fantastic job in showing that and you definitely feel about Cap's characters a lot more. and what's so great about Marvel is that, when your least character gets to be one of the best, that's what Marvel does right and it's great. like Captain America's a lot more interesting here, cause we get to see him dealing with this world and dealing with S.H.I.E.L.D and the easter eggs in this movie are top notch. the acting was really good too. Chris Evans was great as Captain America, Scarlett Johansson owned the role of Black Widow and their relationship was great. i loved seeing how they have a conversation while kicking some serious ass, that was awesome! the action was amazing, it was awesome and intense and it felt so real! the pacing was great, the cinematography was great, the script was well-written and this movie was just so much fun to watch. i'm telling ya right now: whether you're a Marvel fan, a comic book fan or a action movie fan in general, then you're gonna love this movie. "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" was a fantastic sequel to "Captain American: The First Avenger" and honestly, i can't wait for the third one.

I don't give 10's out lightly. There is nothing wrong with this action film. Great story. Great action and cgi. Funny. Great characters. The only thing I would have added would have been a last second cameo of Iron Man. Marvel does aI don't give 10's out lightly. There is nothing wrong with this action film. Great story. Marvel does a bad job when it comes to forgetting about other characters that still exist in this world. If you don't want them in the movie, you better come up at least a mention as to why they are not here. Remember when they kept referring to the Thor hammer in the desert in a few other Marvel movies?

BUT CAPTAIN AMERICA THE WINTER SOLDIER,can stand on proudly on it's own ,just like the first iron man could,the dialogue is terrfic and i loved the interaction between Natasha Romanoff and Steve Rogers,Scarlett Johanson's character has a bigger role and much better portrayal than in any previous films,the winter soldier is extremely badass and brutal at times,like kicking a guy into a jet engine or throwing cap's own shield at him after he caught it ,which is impossible.Another aspect that stands out is how much heart it has ,how it focuses on trust and relationships .Samuel L. Jackson back again as Nick Fury provides a meaningful change to captain america that the world he once knew has changed and he has to learn where he fits in now.Anthony Mackie is funny as an actor and a character too he plays Sam Wilson in the movie who goes by the name of Falcon,for his ability to fly ,it's also worth mentioning that he has some of the best action scenes in the movie.

And boy are the action scenes freakin awesome,hand-to-hand combat is really good almost on the raid movies level,it has some very realistic and grounded ation ,as well as the usual CGI action ,but even that is more satisfying than ever before.It's strange how marvel manages to find the directors ,that never shot action before ,but when they do they make it seem it's not their first rodeo.Anthony Russo and Joe Russo have said that they have been inspired by the movies like HEAT and several other spy films of the 70s and they have done a fantastic job at it.

For me winter soldier combines all the best elements of a superhero genre movie.... great titular character, complex and engaging plot, incredible action scenes (The boat, the lift, furys car escape!! - the ending helicarrier sequence!!) superb music and above all a heart that beats for the sense of justice for good vs evil I used to feel when I wore a superman outfit as a 4 year old! This is marvel studios at the top of their game. Seminal stuff here.… Expand

I absolutely LOVE this movie. I was gripped by what was happening throughout almost the entire movie! There was one bad actor, but I do not think that just because of him this movie's score should be brought down.

Marvel is not afraid of taking big risks when it comes to it's cinematic universe and you have to admire them for it because the we get films like The Winter Soldier! Starting the film off with the "on your left" (if you've seen it then youMarvel is not afraid of taking big risks when it comes to it's cinematic universe and you have to admire them for it because the we get films like The Winter Soldier! Starting the film off with the "on your left" (if you've seen it then you know) scene reminds of us the great one liners and humor that we enjoy and can always expect from these films. It knows how and when not to take itself too serious. That said, it is far from a campy comedy like we've witnessed in poorly executed movies like the Fantastic 4. No, this one is a darker and much grittier film. A political thriller where no one can be trusted, wherever you turn, someone is trying to get you and big brother is always watching. The film is so well written and directed that you forget you're watching a super hero film and start to think it's a Bourne movie, which is a compliment. It just proves that Captain America has the ability to stand alone in the franchise, as Iron Man has done in his outings. It's packed with fine storytelling and Characters that are very well developed and come into their own as the film progresses. The screen time each of the heroes gets here is well balanced and never feels like too much or too little. Especially with a cast like this one. Redford brings the gravitas that he known for and Samuel L. Jackson finally shows us why he is the General. Filled with enough martial arts, humor, one of the best car chases I've seen, and the occasional CGI spectacle, This one is NOT to be missed!… Expand

Best Marvel movie to date. Chris Evans Takes his performance of Capt. America to a whole new level. He is the reason Cap is 4th on my list of favorite superheros. I've got huge amount of pleasure watching this sequel. If first movie made impression of naive action with some amount of fun, the sequel has blown my mind in all the aspects. It grew much more serious, its filming, visuals, scenario,I've got huge amount of pleasure watching this sequel. Captain America: The Winter Soldier manages to have the perfect balance of seriousness, humour and a complex plot that not only raises the stakes for the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe but also manages to keep intact who Captain America is and how the world should be more like him not the other way around.
The action is the best action in a Marvel movie and the soundtrack keeps you on the edge of your seat as the plot evolves. Acting wise everyone fits their role perfectly and special mention to newcomers Anthony Mackie who gets most of the more funny scenes as Falcon and Robert Redford who turned what could have been a boring character in Alexander Pierce into a truly well rounded character.
On par with The Avengers as the best Marvel film.… Expand

Captain America is back and this he's better than ever. The first one was enjoyable but the sequel definitely takes the cake. One of the best Super hero movies I've ever seen and a great follow up to The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

I was pleasantly surprised when HYDRA got into it, and the fact that it was like a political thriller was awesome. I don't think it's as good as The Avengers, but, seriously, what can beat that? This movie also had terrific action, and most of it was real and not CGI which I really liked considering that literally every other superhero uses CGI eccentrically. Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is the latest installment in the MCU and it is technically a sequel to both “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “The Avengers” and it follows Captain America (Chris Evans) who now works for S.H.I.E.L.D in modern time. When he discovers a conspiracy in the organisation his loyalties are trusted and old friends turns enemies. In his doubts he also encounters a new foe called the Winter Soldier (I will not say who plays him since that may spoil something for you) and secrets from the past and the present are revealed…

The cast in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is star studded and fantastic! Chris Evans is reprising his role as Cap and he has really grown into the part. Scarlett Johanson, Samuel L. Jackson and Cobie Smulders are also back in their roles from previous MCU-movies and they are better than ever! Newcomers to the MCU includes Anthony Mackie and Robert Redford(!). All the actors are fantastic in their roles. The chemistry between, well, everyone is great. Evans and Johansson share intriguing scenes where their characters morals clash. Anthony Mackie’s character is the comic relief but his acting makes the character more than that. It is great to see Samuel L. Jackson’s, Nick Fury get some real action in this film and Robert Redford is very fun to watch.

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier”‘s strongest suit is probably the script, which is weird to say since this is a comic-book movie and this particular genre is not known for strong writing. Every single character is written perfectly with new characters getting enough development and already established ones are explored further. Captain America as a person was not very interesting in the previous two movies he appeared. He is however a very well written (and acted) character in this movie. One thing that was done brilliantly in the script was that the story isn’t just a “fish out of water” arc. Cap does react to his new surroundings in a very fun and cool way but the emphasis is on the S.H.I.E.L.D-and-everyone-who-works-there and Captain America relationships. The Winter Soldier is a perfect character with much depth and, well, he’s a major bad-ass! Not only the characters are written well but the plot is also great. It has, much like the characters, a lot of depth and twists and turns. It plays out very much like a political thriller in present day with the classic, but oh so fitting, “don’t trust anyone” theme.

The action in “Captain America. The Winter Soldier” is nothing short of amazing! I was literally chewing down my nails, panting and I if I wasn’t so tense I would’ve jumped out of my seat because of all the suspense. The movie was rather violent for being a Marvel-studios production and I appreciated that. It gave the movie a sense of realism and it was intense to the limit. When Cap is being punched around you really feel his pain. There are so many great action pieces and scenes with spectacular fight-choreography and jaw-dropping, in lack of a better word, action!

Directors of the movie are Anthony and Joe Russo from “Community” fame. One would not think that a director-duo mostly known for comedy would be suited for a 170 million dollar blockbuster. One would however be wrong! The Russo’s are handling the directing brilliantly. The comedy is definitely not out of hand. As of matter of fact, nothing is out of hand. Everything is balanced well, the tone is perfect for the kind of story that is being told and all the action is shot amazingly! Kudos!

This film is packed with action, has stellar performances a thick plot and solid directing. Giving great nods to comic-book fans and movie fans alike “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” isn’t only a fantastic comic-book movie, it is a fantastic movie in general! Cap is back and he is cooler than ever!… Expand

There's a lot of moments in that movie including the ending with all the suits that I thought were just stupid and all those moments with the cliche ''US president being kidnapped'', is so over used. With The Winter Soldier it is an edge of your seat Thriller with some spectacular action sequences including Nick Fury's car chase which is a change of pace for him as he is usually stuck behind his desk but really shows his true self in this one. This is the Marvel movie that isn't full of the usual cheesy moments and only has humour at the right moments and isn't over used.
The Winter Soldier is a proper bad ass who really stands up against Captain America but the big reveal of his identity was already known for months so that moment was that great but Rogers' reaction is still pretty interesting. Scarlett Johansson is flawless in this movie and is taken way more seriously this time and shows every one that she should get her own movie and I really hope she does because of this
one. It may even happen after The Avengers Age of Ultron if we're lucky. There just isn't a dull moment and I can't wait for Age of Ultron when we will see the full effect of Winter Soldier's Story. We have already
seen the effects of Winter Soldier in Agents of SHIELD so it should be interesting to see what happens next. We will just have to wait and see… Expand

Fantastic movie and by far the best of the MCU movies so far in my opinion. This is not just a superhero movie but is also equal parts action and thriller and has a well written story, action and fight scenes and some interesting new characters.

Fantastic movie by any means - only better because of it being an MCU movie. For me, this is a strong contender for the best Marvel movie yet. This is probably the best superhero movie I've seen come out of the phase 2 plan for the Marvel movies so far. It is so good I can actually recommend it outside of fans of superheroThis is not only an awesome superhero movie as it is also a really good political thriller and one of the best examples of the security vs freedom dilemma in movies. It is so good I can actually recommend it outside of fans of superhero films. With a few tweaks it can even be done as normal movie and would still work well. Story: It is set after the events of the first Avengers movie which has changed the world. Steve Rogers while working for S.H.I.E.L.D has partly adapted to the modern times but still struggles with the changes as modern times a hard to grasp. During his daily running training he meets Sam Wilson a former soldier who is now a consultant for traumatized war veterans who wants to help him too. Meanwhile S.H.I.E.L.D is planing something big that can change the world to a better state. However Steve who does not like the project, Natasha (Black Widow) and Nick Fury find some inconsistencies in the project. With this the story starts. It is an impressive story line. Like I already said the security vs freedom element and dilemma alone is praiseworthy. This is not all as the twist are magnificent and the characters and story enhance each other. Like the prequel it has strong characters, a lot of character development and the interactions are enjoyable and entertaining. Also it has impacts the follow up movies will continue. It is my favorite non team movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and best Captain America movie. For clarification: I see Civil War more as Avengers movie or Iron Man and Captain America movie. In total it has an immersive story with real life connection, enjoyable moments and clever writing. Lets continue with the characters. Chris Evans already won me over in the first movie and is the definitive Captain America and Steve Rogers. He is a paragon and role model but also a human who struggles and has doubts and insecurities. This makes him relatable as we can see us in him and what we wish we could be at the same time. Then we have Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow aka Natasha Romanoff. This was the closest she got to a solo movie. She has a lot of screen time and delivers an awesome performance. Of cause we have the titular Winter Soldier where I cant spoil the actor. He fully delivers and you can feel all his emotions and impact. If you have seen the later movies or are familiar with the comics this will not be a surprise but remember some have not seen them or read the comics. With Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson we got a really good addition to the cast. He is and will be a staple. Again Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury rocks all his scenes and is a badass. Robert Redfort as Alexander Pierce surprised me. I did not think that he will be in a superhero movie. An awesome performance and truly enjoyable. The rest of the cast also deliveries and we got a really remarkable performance by genre standards. Presentation: Again all MCU movies have great special effects. This movie makes no differences and those are never doubted. The immersion is excellent. Then there are the well choreographed fights. Everything is a step up and works amazing. The elevator scene alone is a highlight. The soundtrack is again really good and enhances the atmosphere. I think I should also praise the Russo brothers for this great movie. Luckily this was no luck as all other movies since then were awesome too. Special praise for Captain America speech. Overall this became my favorite and I re-watched it a lot. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is first and foremost a political thriller with the essence of a superhero movie. Returning to the role of Steve Rodgers, I can safely and assuredly say that Chris Evans is Captain America. One of the best parts of this sequel was the chemistry between the actors, especially between Evans and Scarlett Johansson. The dialogue they share stays compelling and doesn't feel forced at all. And speaking about not feeling forced, Anthony Mackie joins the cast as The Falcon. This could've easily been one of the weak points of the film, as history has proved that the addition of a sidekick tends to backfire on the film. However, Mackie does a great job in providing humour and playing a character that Rodgers can truly identify with and befriend, as they are both war veterans and have similar outlooks on life. Samuel Jackson has appeared in his fair share of Marvel films, yet he was always just a voice in the background. That couldn't be farther from the truth in Marvel's newest addition to their cinematic universe because Nick Fury finally gets down and gritty. The action has never been better and greater than they are here. From the martial arts style fights to the epic set piece battles to an incredibly shot car chase scene, this film will not only amaze superhero fans but action fans as well. Many people are interested about the Winter Soldier and if he is a worthy and menacing antagonist, and the answer to that question is an emphatic yes. Sebastian Stans's performances reminds me of Tom Hardy's Bane from The Dark Knight Rises in that both men have most of their face covered, with their eyes telling a story all on their own. Being the figure in the shadows and suddenly appearing out of nowhere throughout the movie was fantastic as it helped maintain the tone that the directors were gunning for. This is Marvel's response to The Dark Knight in terms of its dark and gritty approach, tackling spy and political themes that are very relevant in today's world. The Russo brother's directing of this film, I think, was probably the best aspect of it. They did a marvelous job in transitioning from the action scenes to the comedy, and then to the emotional character driven moments. Not to be outshined, the script was the best of the Marvel movies, and a large part of that was the character development, which some superhero movies tend to lack. Is it a great superhero movie? Yes. Is it a great MOVIE? Yes. Does it take the genre and go beyond its own limitations and journey into uncharted territory, just as The Dark Knight did? Yes. This is truly an exciting time to be living in.… Expand

'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' is, without a doubt, my favorite MCU movie since 'Iron Man' (2008), and I even rank this slightly above 'The Avengers' (2012).

Chris Evans returns as the super soldier still trying to adapt to modern'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' is, without a doubt, my favorite MCU movie since 'Iron Man' (2008), and I even rank this slightly above 'The Avengers' (2012).

Chris Evans returns as the super soldier still trying to adapt to modern life. We see in the beginning that he meets up with a former soldier named Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), and they seem to really hit it off. Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) also returns in the movie helping out the Captain on his missions as they try and rescue S.H.I.E.L.D. agents from terrorists in a very well crafted fight scene that takes place on a boat.

The Captain learns that Black Widow has been storing some mysterious data and confronts Director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) about it, they even have a conversation about trust, and who is more trust-worthy.

We also meet Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford), who is a member of the World Security Council and is very good friends with Fury.

It seems that things get out of hand when Fury ends up in a car chase incident that leads him directly to the mysterious "Winter Soldier". The captain tries to track down this mysterious man with a metal arm, but it seems that he is so powerful and so quick, that he can even catch his shield. Nobody seems to know about this character, he has been around for decades it almost seems. The captain even goes as far as to say that "he's a ghost story".

There are many intense moments throughout this entire film, this is a grounded political thriller, which is unlike Marvel, usually, you would expect some CGI spectacle with a crowd running away from flying air-crafts or aliens invading...but this movie, directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, relies mainly on practical stunt work, some perfectly timed and perfectly choreographed fight scenes, and many, many moments of characters doing some questionable things, but it turns out they were doing it for good reason.

It's amazing as to how the tone shifted, in 'Captain America: The First Avenger' (2011), that was more of a retro, colorful, almost cliched war film...but it was very good. Here, you have a solid, edge-of-your-seat political thriller. Chris Evans distances himself away from that Johnny Storm role in the "Fantastic Four" franchise he used to be a part of, now, he fully blends in as the self-righteous, hard-working soldier.

Both Evans and Johansson also have terrific chemistry, the way that the modern day Black Widow occasionally pokes fun at the 95 year old super soldier, and the way that they don't seem to trust each other at first, but must fight together to stop their enemies is all executed perfectly. The Russo brothers, clearly knew what they were doing.

Forget about the villain silliness of 'Iron Man 3' (2013), or even the CGI heavy 'Thor: The Dark World' (2013) (which I still liked)...Marvel has made, what could possibly be what 'The Dark Knight' (2008) was for the Batman character.

Solid storytelling, thrilling fight scenes, great action, a memorable villain...Marvel has made a perfect summer movie!… Expand

In my opinion its the best Captain America film and movie out of the 3. Civil War was great, I loved that film as well. Out of the three Captain America movies, the 2nd one was the best for me. I loved how we see the character trying to integrate himself into the modern world and people from his past keep "popping" up. This movie is a Mashup of a political thriller, comic book movie, and buddy movie all in one. It's great seeing Cap adjusting to life in the 21st century with friends Natasha and Sam along for the ride. Robert Redford is a great, subtle villian. A+
