A fun romp. Greatly captures the action of Dark Knight Returns(comic). This movie sets up the DC movie universe and the dark take on the series is a welcome addition to the vast superhero movie genre.

The level of criticism this movie has received is totally unwarranted. The movie isn't perfect (i.e, the casting of Eisenberg as Luthor; the flow of the movies at time). This movie is vastly better than any of the recent Amazing Spider-man movies (which did not receive anywhere near this level of criticism) and I liked it better than the Avengers.

In my opinion, this is the third best live-action Batman movie after Nolan's The Dark Knight and Batman Begins (yes, I thought it was better than The Dark Knight Rises).

First of all, to those who think this movie is bad, I agree with many of your criticisms. And this otherwise amazingFirst of all, to those who think this movie is bad, I agree with many of your criticisms. Snyder is a visual director who seems to create scenes first, then fill them with characters and finally add a story to them. And this otherwise amazing movie suffers because of that. Secondly, this film IMO is best superhero movie made after the Dark Knight film by Christopher Nolan not because it has the an intricate storyline like the one Nolan created, but because it pushes the envelope of what a superhero movie can be. I for one am sick of watching what seems like endless one liner comedy superhero films that Kevin Feige and Marvel vomit out every summer and find BvS to be wind of refreshing air due to its darker tone, deeper take on characters and its overall adult orientation. With regards to themes, they are Judaeo-Christian themes sprinkled liberally across this film and a unique take on a kind of "Friedrich Nietzsche atheism" in the character of Lex Luthor. Overall, the film was absolutely amazing. If you hated the theatrical version, don't hesitate to watch the ultimate cut because it is far superior and fills up the so called plotholes "critics" lamented. Expand

It kept me interested for the whole time and it did so by cleverly swapping between action and storytelling. I think it reached as far in the direction of an intelligent movie as possible for an action movie . And that seems to infuriate people who wanted a simple plot of Batman fighting Superman with a lot of fireworks and without the need to pay attention. I really do not care how close/far it is to the comics, it's a top tier cinema and it deserves more praise. Expand

It's dark, ambitious, and highly intelligent, has real warmth at its heart, and is better acted and directed than any comic book movie to date. Also, Zack Snyder does a far better job of pulling together all the various plot and character strands than Josh Whedon does in the Avengers films.

Indeed, I have a theory as to why Snyder's work gets panned, while garbage like The Avengers and The Force Awakens gets universally praised: critics today, like a large section of society, are infantilised, and thus are incapable of processing movies that require any amount of thought beyond five seconds. I mean, the entire plot of BvS is driven by fear of fascism and totalitarianism, with some of the characters - including Bruce - acting hysterically as a result. This is really weighty stuff, and worthy of acclaim for a comic book movie; but not one critic I have read appears to have grasped this central theme, even though it is rammed into their faces from the very start with the unsettling nod to Nietzsche (whom I would wager most critics have never even heard of).

It is, though, heartening to see that far more of the audience liked this film than did the critics, and that it made a heap of money. So perhaps there is hope that there will continue to be a place in cinema for Mr Snyder, who never fails to create really meaningful, visually stunning work.

It really really was awesome... Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice presents the definition of "The Great Movie"!
I'm here to talk about The Theatrical Cut and The Ultimate Edition too. Actually I loved both of them!

I enjoyed every single moment in this movie -both cuts- from the operation credits -and I actually knew that it's gonna be perfectly directed- 'til the ending credits.

As the score, Hans Zimmer did it again with a great, ear-comfort and fitting soundtrack.

The direction is great, and the CGI was mistake-less and eye-comforting in every possible way it could be!

As the performances, I have no comment but AWESOME! A lot of people will disagree with me, but for me they were amazing!

And the last thing is the story, that satisfied me as a huge fan of DC, more than any other movie in the DCEU! For sure BvS is my favorite DC -and not only DCEU- movie of all time!

At this point in the Marvel franchise they were still attempting to get their feet under then while it feels pretty certain that both Batman and Superman are easily comfortable in their respective worlds. Dawn of Justice does start a little slow, but that slow burn is worth it when they action portion of the movie kicks off. Let me start by saying, I see why this movie has gotten bad reviews from many, but the movie is incredible and here is why:

There are many scenes that can confuse your average movie-goer. This is because the movie requires some prior DC universe knowledge to fully comprehend what you are seeing. having a large DC comics collection and being a major fan of the DC universe I had no problem with this.

Now I know you're saying " Well shouldn't movies explain scenes like?" In most cases yes, however if they took the time to explain all of those details now the movie would be several hours longer. I won't mention which scenes I'm talking about but if you've seen it you will know.

So this movie is a movie that plays like a comic book almost. It is actually made for the fans of DC comics. Why is this good? Often movie studios don't give the kind of creative control to directors to let them make movies that require some prior knowledge (but Snyder also did this with Watchmen), but the fact that it was made this way will make the lore and story much deeper and connected. Many off the things you saw will make sense when the Justice League and Wonder Woman movies come out respectively. Directors have a choice: They can make a movie that appeals to the largest group of people, or a movie that appeals to the fans of the actual source material, Zack chose the later and I'm glad he did. If you want a crash course in some DC lore I recommend watching some of the animated films like Justice League: War.

Other than that notion: Batman was a total badass, superman had depth, the batmobile and batwing were incredible. Wonder Woman was awesome and against popular opinion I even liked Jesse Eisenberg's iteration of Lex Luthor.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and will definitely be seeing it again. If you don't know much about DC, study up on the DC universe if you like that sort of thing and it makes the movie that much better, but even if you don't the movie is cool as ****

This is a film where all the superhero nerds will love it, while older people will probably enjoy My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 more. I was extremely blown away from the last hour of the film. One of the best hour-long fight sequence I've seen in a long time! The performances were all superb, in particular Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, and Jesse Eisenberg. The only "flaw" with this film is the first hour or so was a bit boring and dragging, just to introduce the characters of course. However, the last hour of the film is emotional, violent, entertaining, and visually stunning. If you've seen the trailers, you probably seen a major portion of this film. However, the film is still very entertaining and I was visually stunned. I think you have to see Man of Steel first in order to fully understand what is happening in this film. If you had expected Batman v Superman, than that is what you will get. Now about wonder woman - she is fine and pretty, but she was barely in this film, like around 15 minutes. Also, doomsday was okay if you've seen the trailer, that's just what he looked like. There is however a major plot twist that did feel a bit rushed, however I still enjoyed it. I hope they make a non-cash grab sequel to this film, and Henry Cavill/Ben Affleck should make another movie together. (93/100) Expand

The movie itself is a glorious mess. The pacing is all over the place, lagging for large portions of the movie, to a degree that threatens to lull the audience to sleep, and then suddenly ramping up to a speed that moves too fast for the plot in many places. There is little to no narrative flow as this movie more or less strings along unrelated scenes, end-to-end, which takes an already murky plot and throws it into near-indecipherable territory. This seems to be the biggest point of consternation for critics and is honestly a decent reason for Warner Bros. to consider asking Zack Snyder to take a step back from the director's chair, as these are all career-long vices of his (Watchmen, Man of Steel being past evidence of this);

And yet, despite all those fundamental mistakes, there's a lot to like here. Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot both proved to near perfect castings, despite early internet outrage directed toward both. If there's one major take away from this movie, it's that both character's solo movies in the DCEU have the ground work in place to be outstanding. Both Jeremy Irons and Laurence Fishburne were great too and hopefully as the DC Universe unfolds, we get even more of these ancillary characters. Also, as has become standard fare for Zack Snyder films, the film is beautiful. For everything he lacks as a story teller, the dude does some absolute magic with camera work.

Condensed down into the most generalized version, this film is being crucified to an unnecessary degree. Sure, the film whiffs on many fundamental chec lists but at the same time, the good largely outweighs the bad. It's by no means perfect (particularly if you're not the type to jump out of your seat at tiny little easter eggs embedded specifically to tease Justice League). That being said, there's enough here to not only watch this movie, but also be optimistic about DC's cinematic universe going forward.

Even though I felt the hype for the appearance of a lot of the Justice League members, I wasn't satisfied by it, not because I wanted more, but because (in my own mind) the self mystery of the characters and their vague mentions could have been perfect. Still, great visual effects, great soundtrack and a very nice cast. Expand

DC/Warners have taken the bold move of making their own brand of movies rather than copy the Marvel blueprint and are getting lambasted for this. Critics just can't get it through their heads that there can be two brands of superhero movies. Those who lament the loss of Donner's Superman were probably the same people who criticised Singer for copying Donner. Affleck as Batman and Cavill as Superman are near perfect casting, whilst Gadot as Wonder Woman absolutely steals the show. In many ways this is a movie for comic fans. I can certainly see confusion among those who aren't comic-savvy. The movie has its issues, but it is ballsy movie-making that swung hard. Those who loathe this movie either went in with preconceived hate or are just attention seeking IMO. Expand

The only thing i would say is that it should have been more violent because it came across as a very grown up film.

I probably enjoyed it more as the abuse this film has suffered from "critics" lowered my expectations before seeing it. It was a interesting use of the source material at this stage of DC's cinematic universe building which I suppose some critics will have felt was a injustice to the direction they thought the movie should have been taken in. I can see how it would be polarising, but this was a film made for the fans, it was almost as if they had lifted the Batman from the Arkham games and recent animated films and put him live on screen! The cameos and nods to various comics was cool too. Expand

My take on Batman vs Superman (Spoiler Free)
If you were worried about Ben Affleck as Batman or Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, don't be. Both pulled off their roles very well.
Theater applauded when Wonder Woman appeared. Nicely setup.
Lots of scenes ripped straight from the comics and even the videogames (great easter eggs I don't want to spoil).
Fight scenes were well done. Not the mess in Man of Steel.
Biggest flaw was the pacing of the first hour. Slow.
No end credit scenes. Feel free to leave when the credits roll.
Not kid friendly.

It isn't anything like the tried-and-tested Marvel formula, but it isn't, as I've read elsewhere, "completely devoid of all amusement". Don't get me wrong, the tone of the movie is certainly dour, and if you're a fan of that (like me) you'll probably enjoy the movie, but it's not as joyless as Man of Steel was at times, another movie I enjoyed greatly. This movie is a spectacle, it's grand and loud, and by the final action sequence I truly felt like these characters were closer to Gods than most other big name superheros; the scale, while not massive in actuality, seemed immense befitting the characters involved.
It's not without its issues, and the common complaint of off-pacing is something I agree with. It's obvious that there's so much to deal with here that some plot-lines get axed, to be restored in the Director's Cut, but almost to the detriment of the subsequent scenes, which seem to come from nowhere. These segments are few and far between, and they certainly didn't greatly impact my experience watching the movie, but they were noticeable.

Overall I feel like Snyder (who's not a director I can claim to have a great love for) did a pretty great job with fitting all the numerous pieces of this movie together into an action packed, enjoyable story with a solid cast, great visuals, and a reverence for the icons it sports. These are not the same Batman and Superman we've seen over the years, and I'm O.K. with that. Variety is the spice of life after all.

People are saying about the pacing of the movie.
But like someone have said, the movie works like a comic book.
One scene jump to another, like a comic book where a panel jump to another.
Comics are disjunctive like this movie. And the aesthetic used by Snyder is like that found in cmoic books.
The scenes break abruptly, one jump to another, goes and come, like the panels in the comics

Together with the talented cast is the strong and fast-faced storyline which is left no place without the genuine fun of watching a rare superhero movie. Indeed, this is the movie in which you can fulfill all your fantasies about a face-to-face match between two iconic heroes. Clark Joseph Kent aka Superman gets the respect and understanding he deserved. Batman is the strongest point in this fanboy dream film. Undoubtedly, Ben Affleck may become the best Batman on screen for his portrayal of the Caped Crusader here, both physically and emotionally. There is no light-hearted stuff or family-friendly plotlines.. It is all about the starting point of the gathering of DC cinematic universe. There is enough tease for other Justice League members that will make your seat hot. There is a badass but attractive Wonder Woman that you can't help falling in love with. All the action are good, especially the epic war in the final act. It will wet all the fan boys, indeed. And there is an ending that would give you goosebumps and hope, if you stick to the end. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm surprised and confused at first I expected this film but when he started to leave the reviews on Metacritic my expectation fell from 100 to 20 (on a scale from 0 to 100) I leave to the very happy, I really loved Ben Affleck as Batman, I liked the action scenes (especially the fight between Batman and Superman), I Liked Gal Gadot as Wonderwoman, Henry Cavill was acceptable Superman but was lower than in man of steel perhaps because he had to split the screen with Ben Affleck, I thought Jessie Eisenberg as Lex Luthor and Jeremy Irons as Alfred pretty weird since Alfred seemed full of intellect film making it appear that the Batman is a dumb that moves by emotion and anger and Lex Luthor is more for Joker than Luthor, I did not like anything Apocalipe looked more like a Ninja Turtle, I did not like the excess Amy Adams (Lois Lane) even if it is ok in acting out, what I most hated of all the cast was Zack Snyder as he does not put rhythm in the film, puts useless things like the dreams of Batman, has time that superman is fighting with the apocalypse and nothing for all to rescue Lois Lane and kisses, want to mix the greatest works hq in m film of 2 hours and 30 minutes, that yes was the biggest problem of the film of course you have a few other things also as excess CGI, visual pollution also, many script holes put what most upset me in the film was a failure call Zack Snyder as director, and last and least the soundtrack of the film made by Hanz Zimmer (the Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception, Man of Steel) and Junkie XL (Mad Max Fury Road) that deliver expected of them with a trail Sensational sound.

Do you like Batman? Superman? the DC characters if so you will like the film is clear that not of to compare with the epic trilogy of Christian Nolan however is rather a little higher than the Man of Steel, worth the entry of money for a fan to someone who is not fan or who does not like good heroes movie maybe you will not like so much.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Batman V Superman isn't necessarily the greatest superhero movie of all time but yet it isn't that atrocious as most people say. The movie played in a very fast pacing, jumping from one event to the other. And the fight of Batman and Superman was probably the biggest disappointment of the movie, i mean for three years WB has been promoting this movie and making amazing trailers, and when the movie finally came out it ended up to be a 8 minute fight with a very quick conclusion, as a comic fan i expected an all put 15-20 minute brawl between the two.

Personally i think the movie had more upsides than downsides, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot portrayed Wonder Woman and Batman in a perfect way showing all aspects of both characters. The Introducing scene was played very well as you get to see the Superman- Zod fight in Bruce Waynes point of view. The build up in the film that lead to the reveal of the Justice league members was a good approach that WB took in order to give fans an idea about Ezra Millers flash and Ray Fishers Cyborg looked like. The final battle scene with Doomsday was very nice for me as a comic fan, as it contained the three main members of the league and showing off each of their abilities.

Overall Batman V Superman was an okay movie, don't get me wrong i'm not saying it's an amazing film that was flawless, i'm just saying that it wasn't as atrocious as most people believe it to be. Hopefully Warner Bros and DC can learn from the Mistakes of this Film and not have them in the upcoming Justice League film.

The atmosphere, and especially the simbiology and the new subjective conception of gods introduced throughout the film. They allow the viewer to see much further, even to debate in some philosophical aspects about the attribution of the gods through humanity. The gods are not glorified, but they are questioned and punished. The staging, the artistic direction immerses you in a reality that seems to be inside a comic book vignette. At the level of actors, I think it's a good cast that works well as a team.
It is full of epic moments, and music is an indispensable element to climax.I really love that film.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Batman V. Superman was truly truly a masterpiece of a movie. It is sad to say many "critics" would not understand such an amazing movie. It has many motifs and symbolism. It's a movie where you really have to think and piece some the plot together. It got me thinking a lot and I've seen it multiple times. Superman's selfless act of sacrificing himself to Doomsday snaps Batman out of the rage he has been in at the end of the movie. This Batman we are given is a worn down Batman who is old and now tired of criminals. You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. I think Zack Snyder was amazing in incorporating religious imagery into the movie as well. When we see Superman hovering over a family whose house has been flooded; We see that the family is reaching out to him not only as a hero but they see him as a God figure. Also towards the end of the movie when Superman lays dead; Wonder Woman, Batman, and Lois Lane lay over him. They scene looks specifically shot like the "Descent From The Cross" painting of Jesus being taken away from the cross. The scores beautifully composed by Hans Zimmer really creates an atmosphere that emotionally strikes you in the heart. They blend very well together with the scenes and are also very memorable! Overall BvS was a movie of pure awesome masterpiece! I know for sure in the future more people will learn to respect the movie and see it for what it truly is. It will go down as one of the best DCEU movies. Expand

I disagree withTruthfully the movie is judged too much for its flaws, and not enough for the truly brilliant moments. I'm rating this based on the Ultimate Edition and the pacing within that version, because it truly to improve the pacing. I disagree with the majority of people complaining about the dark tone because it is very much needed. DC is not Marvel, nor should they strive to be. This movie had a particular tone, and it scratched an itch that very few Marvel movies ever could (exception being Infinity War, which was much more daring, somber, and dramatic than all others including Endgame). These movies are needed, which is why I'm so excited about the Snyder cut. We can follow up on this story. The movie has so many quotes and cool moments, but the game changer is the wonderful soundtrack craftd by Junkie XL and Hans Zimmer. As a musician, music makes or breaks the movie for me. Batman's theme in this one is haunting, and the theme of the movie, while a bit dramatic, is epic enough to serve the film in a satisfying way. I'm rambling. Basically I love this movie. The music and the visuals and the storyas well. Expand

I also found Lois lane borderline unbearable taking up way too much screen time with not enough justification and her being a 1 dimensional damsel in distress doesn’t help that. Otherwise a very enjoyable movie with great action and story Expand

A layered visual story telling masterpiece. Deep parallels with Christianity and a beautiful story of redemption. Easily my favorite movie of all time.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I've also posted this review on IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes.

I absolutely loved this movie. Dark, complex, well written, well acted, with incredible special effects. It looked at the real world repercussions of Superman's existence, and balanced that and the conflict between the two title characters perfectly while hinting at the introduction of future DC cinematic universe films.

Marvel do the fun, lighthearted superhero film very well, but I'm glad DC have chosen to go in a much darker direction. There's real pain and real danger on show here, and throughout the final fight between the Trinity and the main villain the viewer is acutely aware that the heroes are outmatched, and may not prevail. The MCU rarely demonstrates that level of tension, except maybe for the excellent The Winter Soldier, and (although TV rather than cinema) the almost as good Daredevil Season 1.

Cavill plays a perfect Superman. The film perfectly portrays his god in mortal form role in the beginning, although his characterisation of Clark Kent, and in particular his reasons for focusing on the Bat vigilante of Gotham in the midst of Congressional hearings into Superman's activities, is not well fleshed out.

Affleck's Batman, is, quite simply, a beast. A terrifying, hulking bat-weapon of a man who hands out savage beatings to all comers on a democratic basis. This is combined very well with his portrayal of Bruce Wayne. Older, wiser, and more cynical than the Batman we've seen in the past. More willing to believe the worst of people, and far more willing to go to extremes in the pursuit of his goals. The sheer brutality of his combat techniques may raise a few eyebrows, especially among fans who are used to a Batman who only has "one rule", but it is believable in the context of this older, darker anti-hero.

Given the ending I cannot wait for the next wave of DC films. Their cinematic universe may be newer than Marvel's, but it looks very promising indeed.

Wonder Woman's entry is treated very well and man - what an entry. This film blew me away. The critics are the inconsistent ones, not the plot. The plot seemed logical to me. Great acting from the actors Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Gal Gadot, Henry Cavill.
Jesse Eisenberg need to develop a little more.
Zack Snyder shall abandon Michael Bay explosions.
Best things in the movie:
The actors acting in their heroes roles, good interpretation and dedication to the roles.
What needs improvement:
Zack Snyder (the director) should stop megalomaniac Michael Bay explosions.
Jesse Eisenberg needs to improve Lex Luthor.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The movies was really good in general to my personal opinion. I don't get how people can criticize a Batman that is being, well basically A MORTAL HUMAN BEING trying to not get **** rekt m9. Sure he's batman, but **** the other guy is superman trying to do something... A lot of parts were a bit mind boggling (i.e.) the **** dream/prophecy/hallucination/idkwtfkery... **** got me thinking of inception. The actors also felt more into the character that they were representing, and they were all showing the emotions/thoughts that you would expect the character to have in those scenes. Expand

I loved being able to see Batman fighting in a suit that resembled that of his from Dark Knight Returns and it set up perfectly for what I'm assuming is going to be the fight with Darkseid from the first graphic novel of the new 52 Justice League series (and others that I don't want to spoil). I was constantly noticing beautiful little details that any fan of the Batman Series would love. If you haven't read the comics you're going to see what is in my opinion a great movie. If you have read them then you're in for a ride. Expand

The only thing I'd have cut other than the character intros would have been the superfluous car chase scene...

As far as action and setting up the much-darker-than-competition sequels this hallmark is sure to produce, Batman v Superman does a superb job. Unfortunately at the expense of the viewer, sometimes the movie tries to do too much with too little.

Casting was a hit or miss; Aflecks Batman and Gadot's Wonder Woman were great choices and worthy of spinoffs. Supporting roles like Alfred (Jeremy Irons) and Senator Finch (Holly Hunter) did what they could with the little or no character building they recieved.

Overall 8/10

He just throws in a lot from comics he liked that don't fit together that well. Then adds strange dream sequences instead of all the flashbacks Man of Steel had.
On top of it he added more darkness and now has Batman kill after complaints of Superman killing in Man of Steel. So Snyder alone is why reviews are so bad and why Justice League will probably get even worse reviews.
Jesse Eisenberg is casting against type that definitely didn't work. He seems to be channeling goofy Batman villains of Schumacher movies over playing Lex.
Ben Affleck as I expected wasn't the problem. Bad pacing and an uneven plot was the problem. The movie tried to do too much at once. Be based on Dark Knight Returns, Death of Superman and while even feel like Zack Snyder was making Watchmen 2. Since Batman and Superman not going by their no kill codes makes them feel like the flawed heroes of Watchmen.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There are points that I like to categorize in my pros and cons section for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
PROS:
+ Batman and Superman kicking each other's asses
+ Ben Affleck's Batman, Henry Cavill's Superman, and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman
+ The action intensity is so high that MoS can't keep up with
+ Wonder Woman
+ Hans Zimmer's and Junkie XL's iconic score fires up the action scenes flawlessy
+ Astonishing visual effects
+ Irons and Adams at their best when supporting their heroes throughout the whole film
+ The trio fight against the 'big one'
+ Those iconic cameos if you know what I mean
CONS
- The introduction of the story felted weird
- The pacing of this movie felt rushed
- Doomsday kinda lacks
- Confusing subplots and dilemma
- Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor is very unpleasant to watch
- Weak backstory and other elements that are trying to hard to make this movie feel like a Michael Bay film
- Certain scenes feel rushed compared to Snyder's Watchmen, 300, and MoS
- The unexpected revival at the end yay...
- Zack Snyder's directing is wack

VERDICT: Since I can't rate 7.5 out of 10 but I have to scale it on 8 because after watching this movie I grinned a little when it comes to the action sequences and the soundtrack intensity. However, the story feels so rushed and somewhat confusing that it feels like the season 2 of True Detective and yet still satisfies a little but not entirely. And the only wish that I ever want to make the next installment for Justice League Part One better than BvS is that we want the iconic director George Miller to direct that film instead of Zack Snyder trying to ruin the film again.. I'm sorry Snyder your visual effects from your past films is astonishing but at the same time your direction on your movies is horrible and it almost equals Michael Bay's directing.

I've truly enjoyed the universe Zack Snyder has created with these characters in just 2 films. Zack Snyder reaches his ambitious goal, thanks to his new hero, performed by Ben Affleck, perfectly in part and added value of the film (he's really superb here). Thanks to the actor of Berckley, Bruce Wayne captures an unusual maturity, intended as desire introspective too, and a charm with sensual veining, presage of a change which, I hope, the screenplay will outline more clearly in the work ahead.
My vote is 7.5.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. (There is a tl;dr at the bottom)This film is not the best, but that does not mean you should not see this movie. As a person that has not seen many Batman movies (Boo!), Ben Affleck was still a great Batman based on regular acting standards. The rest of the cast is great, especially Amy Adams and Gal Gadot. There are some unnecessary scenes , and some things are left unanswered(Like superman's death, which was beyond upsetting and sad). Jesse Eisenburg is tolerable, but far from great. The film also has a ton of destruction, and that the Climax came from Micheal Bay's wet dream but whatever. Doomsday was unnecessary, and it could have just been Lex that brings the heroes together.

TL:DR Great acting, unnecessary stuff, tons of explosions. Sad ending

BvS is indulgent, cerebral, bombastic, fiercely intelligent, gorgeous, emphatic and sensual - and these are just some of the things that make it outstanding. Each character has their own voice, from the mastermind Lex to the farmboy-with-a-bruised-heart, Superman, to Lois with her ambition tempered by experience. The script has depth enough to be plumbed over several viewings; the visuals are finely crafted and not the 'let's nuke your eyeballs' approach other superhero films have taken. The characters' motives unfold with an identifiable pattern; and this pattern is 'symphonic'. An excellent film and a good sign of DC movies to come. In fact, Snyder seems to have set this film experience up in counterpoint to Marvel fare - and that is great for the genre, because diversity is important. Expand
