here is what this movie tries to do in a 2 hours and 31 minute long movie there is of course The Dark Knight returns but there is also The Death of Superman and its trying to do both of these Stories while introducing Wonder Woman, Batman, and Lex Luthor as characters in the DCEU while setting up the Justice League Movie but also doing dream sequences setting up what I think was an Injustice Movie and again it tries to do all this in the span of 2 hours and 31 minutes that is about the same length as Man of Steel which was 2 hours and 23 minutes and Lex Luthor was a huge miscast as well feeling more like the Joker both appearance and personality wise then Lex Luthor

overall this movie is a just a Huge Mess that just doesn't work because they tried to force so much into a single movie

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Batman v Superman is directed by Zack Snyder and written by David S Goyer. This movie has 28% on rotten tomatoes and is still overrated. And no, the extended edition isn't any better. How could a movie about the two most awesome superheroes out there with one of the best casts of 2016 become a boring, edgy, self-important, nonsensical, annoying, uneven, soulless product? Three things WB, Zack Snyder, and David S Goyer. Now, these people can be trusted when working with smart people. Ex, Watchmen (dir.Zack Snyder based on a novel by Alan Moore), The Dark Knight (co-written.David S Goyer and Chris Nolan, and Heat (prod.WB dir. Michael Mann). But you put only those three in a room and you come up with crap. With a cast with Ben Affleck, Jena Malone, Amy Adams, Henry Cavil, and Laurence Fishburne, you can't do any wrong...right? Wrong, the "film" follows a contrived and flat out dumb plot in which a final showdown between Batman and Superman is plotted and nonsensically executed by Lex Luther. Let's start out with the performances Batman is played incredibly by Ben Affleck (which is possibly the only good thing about this movie along with the visuals). Whereas Henry Cavil (who has been shown to be a good actor) sports the range of a spoon. This is the fault of David S Goyer and Zack Snyder to wrote and directed Superman to be as bland and boring as possible. And Lex f*cking Luther, my god, this is obviously just a poor attempt to cash in on his genius portrayal of Mark Zuckerberg in the excellent film The Social Network. Instead of feeling unhinged and meticulous, he just comes off as an idiot who couldn't talk his way out of a paper bag. And all the other great actors cast in this piece of crap are also acted dull and boring. The most emotion Amy Adams shows is when she yells that Martha is Superman's mother's name, which leads to one of the dumbest scenes ever put to film. What if one of their mothers wasn't named Martha, what if Batman already stabbed his brains out. It isn't smart, just dumb, and convenient. And then Batman and Superman become buddies, despite the fact that Batman was trying to kill his ass 15 minutes ago (which was how long the title fight was, the movie's name shouldn't be Batman v Superman, it should be Batman and Superman talk in rooms, separately, I love "talking" movies, just sell movies for what they are.) This leads to one of Batman's character issues. He kills, and this isn't about being "comic-accurate, it's about being interesting. Speaking of character issues, Superman, the hero who stands for light and hope, just mopes all-day until doomsday kills him. Again, this isn't about being "comic-accurate," characters who sit around feeling sorry for themselves until they get murdered are not interesting. This leads to the big final act, which turns the movie from semi-mediocre to full-on idiotic. Batman and Supes fight against a poorly rendered Doomsday. Oh and Wonder Woman is there. So then sci-fi bullsh*t, superman dies (not really), people cry, Batman pays for the funeral, Batman doesn't kill (finally), sequel set up crap. This movie was f*cked in the *ss from the beginning, it had to set up the dceu, Wonder Woman solo movie, the justice league (with a f*cking email scene), batman solo movie, superman sequel, the flashpoint paradox, and etc. It's easy to see how this movie ended up sucking. The film editing is really awful. The cast are quite average (except for Ben Affleck) but Lex Luther is junk. Both in characterization and acting. The script is very weak. The final twenty minutes of the movie, Superman's funeral, is really over. Superman's death was completely wrong in this movie. Superman was killed in comics after many years while he had the right characterization and it made everyone cry. But Snyder killed him in his second film with an awful characterization and no one cried for him. Then you say we don't understand Zack Snyder? Have you ever read a comic book ??? If you had read, you would have known how he insulted the background of the character. He just stole their names and made a story from himself for them. Superman in comics is actually a sign of hope. But Snyder confused him with Christ Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is a disaster. An absolute disaster. It has everything! Plot-holes, bad direction, terrible pacing, dumb characters, a disaster of a story, mediocre to bad acting, and it ruined not one, not two, but THREE DIFFERENT COMIC STORIES! (Dark Knight Returns, Injustice and The death of Superman). Let's start from the beginning. Why does Superman and Batman fight in the movie? Superman has no reason to hate him at all in this movie, so he fights him because he needs to save his mother... What? Are they kidding? This is Superman's motivation to fight Batman in this movie? A cliche like that? So, instead of showing us how both Superman and Batman, despite both being crime fighters, have diverging ideologies and they clash due to one of them starting to act in really extreme ways and the other deciding to stop him for considering him dangerous, we are going to get a fight between two cardboard pieces where one is fighting because his mother is in danger, what a letdown and Batman motivation is even worse, he thinks Superman is a menace to mankind so he wants to exterminate him, which is stupid because Superman was on Earth for a long time, so how did Batman ignored all the good stuff he did on all of that time!? Isn't he one of the smartest men in the world and world greatest detective!? They turned such a memorable fight in the comics, into a forced and boring confrontation in the movies, which is unforgivable. Another thing the movie dropped the ball was Wonder Woman, I don't know what they were thinking, she was going to have her origin movie right next to this one! Why she needed to be here!? She adds nothing and she actually makes the movie worse, because at the end of the movie if it was only Batman and Superman against Doomsday, we would have the idea of the enemies now became allies to defeat a bigger evil, since they are the only people around to stop it, but with Wonder Woman there, this doesn't happen, and we also got a ridiculously easy and unclimactic end fight as a result, what a joke. Doomsday..... What the hell? They took a terrible character from the comics and made it worse, his creation makes no sense, his existence in the movie is almost random, his CG is terrible, he sucks while fighting, and the way he died was really stupid, a complete disaster of a character.
I could spend more time saying how the story had even more plot holes, how Lex Luthor character was terrible, all of the pacing problems, but I don't feel like it and even if I had, I doubt I would have space to write down all of this. 1/10. Terrible in every way imaginable.

The whole movie is a mess, nothing makes sense, it jumps from point to point without any rhyme or reason. Suddenly, without explanation, Batman is a cruel murderer and Superman is an out of touch god who cares more about his image than his duty to protect humanity. The movie does get one thing on the nose though and that is the US government's absolute distrust of any and all threats to its own power structure, the threat here being Superman, an all powerful alien that acts with impunity and without the oversight of a government to tell him what is "right" and what is "wrong". For a movie that calls itself Batman V Superman there is barley any of that in the movie. Expand

Well Snyder is fan of Walking Dead that's fine, but please keep that for yourself that's not even a funny cameo and that does not make any sense. Same about Batman cast, Ben Affleck? I mean seriously? Even after all this Daredevil mess? Wes Bentley would be a good Batman but anyway in all this joke of a movie that's better for his career he wasn't cast. But if the movie only missed at this point, that would not be a huge mistake. The entire film was a total mess, just as Man of Steel was. No plot, ridiculous and cliché characters, pretty pathetic original score by overestimate Hans Zimmer and his fellow pal Tom Holkenborg, awful color treatment as for Man of Steel, boring CGI action and unscripted action sequences made this a total moron crap. Both Warner and Snyder definitely lose where Buena Vista literally lead on the market with the Marvel Universe. There's some good elements at some point but overwhelmed with high octane blockbuster action as it was a Dwayne Johnson movie or another Fast and Furious entry. I loved many pictures directed by Snyder before, his reboot on Dawn of the Dead was really fresh and Watchmen is definitely awesome, but since Man of Steel his filmography was utterly useless. I've keep ratings like 0 or 1 for Asylum productions but I've definitely got more nice moments on Sharknado 3 than this awful crap. I still can't believe this movie wasn't rated poorly as it deserved. Barely anything is unlikeable and a poor attempt to make some money against the Buena Vista unstoppable machinery. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I haven't seen a superhero movie this convoluted, unfocused and boring before. What should've been the greatest superhero crossover that every superhero and comic book fan waited for their entire life ended up being a mess of a movie. Really, a superhero movie about the fight between Batman and Superman shouldn't have been hard to do, but it seems that director Zack Snyder just made an unnecessarily hard work. My review contains spoilers, but I think it doesn't matter because the trailers gave the ENTIRE movie, ALL the spoilers, they just needed to show the death of Superman too, but I still indicate this contains spoilers, even if I don't need to.
I'll start with the bad.

The Bad:
-DC just wasted too many good storylines with potential in their SECOND installment of their attempt to compete with the MCU, they wasted the Dark Knight returns story, they wasted a Batman vs Superman movie, they wasted the Death of Superman, oh my GOD. Just imagine if after Iron Man, Marvel released Civil War, that introduces Captain America, Bucky, Spider-Man and all the other characters and Zemo creates the Red Hulk from Iron Monger's dead body and Cap and Iron Man team up to fight it and Iron Man dies at the end sacrificing himself, don't you think that sounds convoluted? Wasn't this movie called "Batman v Superman"? Then why do the trailers showed that they end up teaming up with Wonder Woman to fight Doomsday!? Such a misleading title then.
-This is just made to promote the DCEU, people payed to see a two and a half hour long ad for the DCEU, with unnecesary cameos of characters (don't worry this is also a problem some MCU movies also have) just to set up future movies.
-The movie is overall just boring. It has a non-sensical plot, bland acting by most of the actors (specially from Henry Cavill) and I guess I can't blame them because the cast has actually talented actors but the material they have to work with is so awful.
-Just like with Man of Steel, Superman's personality is just so boring, and he is not a superhero, he's barely shown actually saving people, isn't that the point of a superhero movie? Showing the superhero doing heroic stuff? He couldn't even save his own mother, Batman did, I just hate this version of Superman. Making him not cracking a single smile or joke doesn't make him "realistic", it just makes him a bad character.
-Why not just make this an adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns? Just without the death of Batman.
-Jesse Eissenberg as Lex Luthor.
-Martha.

The good, I think:
-This Batman is just so cool. I think the best scenes of the movie are with Batman which makes me think that if this was a standalone Batman reboot, it would've been SO much better, the warehouse fight is just the best scene of the movie, hands down. Ben Affleck's acting as the dark knight is amazing, and fits the role, too bad he was wasted in Justice League.
-Even though the "Batman vs Superman" scene is very short for a two and a half hour movie, I think it's actually very cool, it's a moment in cinematic comic book history, it's obviously ruined by the laughable Martha thing.
-The cinematography, by that I mean the color palette...I liked it. Zack Snyder tries to make this movie look dark (even though this doesn't fit Superman's character) and he actually did a good job in that regard, proving that he's a visual guy, not a good director.

You know the rest.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Terrible movie. An even bigger sleep-inducing film than Man of Steel. This movie was super extremely boring. It was so boring and terrible that it put me to sleep. One of the worst superhero movies ever made and one of the worst movies I have ever watched. This movie didn't even really have a plot, just a bunch of boring, random, and badly tied scenes put together and extended to 2 and a half hours and/or 3 hours long. The story is full of countless plot holes and almost everything in BvS does not make sense. The pacing is horribly slow. Jesse Eisenburg's acting was terrible and over-the-top. He made a horrible Lex Luthor. Eisenburg was horribly miscast as Lex Luthor. Batman and Superman only fight each other once for like 5 or 8 minutes. The "Martha" scene was horrific and incredibly dumb. BvS is a huge mess. Unwatchable garbage. Snoresville! Expand

Superman meanwhile is inadvertently killing bystanders with gay abandon as he tangles with a superpowered foe. So far, so ridiculous. The feeble storyline meanders aimlessly, I eventually had to stop viewing. As a fan of Reeves superman and keatons batman this was just cgi pornography for the undiscerning masses Expand

But I have never had a film break me like this one did. And I hope I never see another film that I have such intense and genuine hatred for, as I do this one. This is a movie that was not only an offense as a film; but to someone who is a genuine, and huge fan of these characters, this was a travesty and an iniquity of a movie. To see beloved children's characters twisted into monstrosities, and literally turned into the antithesis of what they have always been, was a real heart-breaker. I weep for myself, the fans of these characters, the general public who has always shown love for these characters, and most of all for the kids, who will grow up thinking this, this outrage is what Batman and Superman, and the DC universe is all about. Very important personal sidenote: To see Batman, a man who has always vowed to never take a life, no matter how evil the person may be, become a mass murdering serial killer was unforgivable. Expand

Superman: I have to save Martha!
Batman: Why did you say that name?
Lois: It's his mother's name.
Batman: I don't want to fight. I don't want to fight with every people whose mother's name are Martha even though they are the biggest threat in the world.(made up)

Unfortunately for the real fans, Batman v Superman is a bad movie simply because the director Sack Snyder and writer David Goyer didn’t understand the real motivations of the main characters. Batman doesn’t kill and Superman is a symbol of hope. Simple but complicated. And I ask you the next question: If Batman is able and wants to kill Superman because he is a threat for humanity, and considering that the Joker killed a Robin (Jason Todd) and the time Batman was working in Gotham, then why is Joker still alive? It doesn’t have any sense. Expand

And by the time THAT scene comes along, you know, the one that totally takes us for fools, I gave up. How can a movie with such a dumb premise ever be good to some people, I seriously can't comprehend. Avoid this like the plague. And oh, Batman looks fat and goofy and Superman looks flat and wooden, and that seems to be the least of its problems.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Batman's biggest traits are that he's the world's greatest detective, and that he has an unshakable sense of morality. Movie Batman is neither of these things, getting fooled by Lex's terrible plan, ignoring logic and literally everyone by trying to kill Superman, and killing people when he really doesn't need to.

After that, there's problems with Batman's motivations. People say he has PTSD etc, but he sees Superman saving thousands of lives every day for the last two years. He says that he believes that Superman is a threat to mankind, and therefore must be killed. He makes a huge scene when stealing the kryptonite and ends up having to steal it stealthily anyways, which is the most Batman style thing he does and its off screen...He gets the kryptonite, makes a spear and gas instead of a bullet. He then places the spear in a building far away from where he baits Superman, and only ends up in that building because Superman throws him on top of it. He finds out Superman is more immune than he expected to the kryptonite, the only weapon that can hurt him, which makes him even more of a threat. Despite all this, he doesn't kill Superman, just because he finds out he's a normal guy with an earth family. He's killed tons of humans in the movie; him just being a normal guy shouldn't matter, and Superman poses more of a threat than all of them combined, plus he's running out of kryptonite. This is probably his last chance to be a threat to Superman. As an aside, the fight itself is pretty stupid; Superman tosses Batman around for 2 minutes and 15 seconds, without even telling him about why he's there. This is an experienced Superman, but he doesn't tell Batman why they're fighting, or just immediately kill him with heat vision or by flying him into space, thereby accomplishing neither peace nor saving his mom.

Either Batman's initial conviction to kill Superman isn't enough, or his reasoning to spare him is too weak. Superman is still extremely powerful. Learning about his mother doesn't actually change the threat he poses at all, which is the entire reason he wants to kill him. Edit: Batman kills people that are just normal people throughout the movie. That doesn't change the fact that Superman is an even greater threat now that the element of surprise with the kryptonite is gone and he's running out of kryptonite.

Superman does almost nothing in the movie other than question himself. He saves people with his godlike powers, but complains and mopes while doing it. He literally says that he's only Superman out of obligation to his dead father. He leaves when he's disheartened (comic Superman would never, ever do that), and it takes hallucinating Pa Kent to get him to come back. That's not Superman at all, that's just some dude that happens to have these powers. The idea of Man of Steel was to end with Superman being Superman. In BvS, most of the character development was undone and Superman doesn't solve any of the things that are bothering him, instead just dying. In Superman: Birthright, Lex has a much better plan and it works, turning the entire city against Superman and broadcasting kryptonite radiation. Despite this, he refuses to leave and risks himself to save the people that fear and attack him. Meanwhile, in BvS, people question him and he outright leaves to hallucinate his dead Earth father, only coming back when people directly connected to him are in trouble. Also, if he could sense that Lois was in danger multiple times in the movie, why couldn't he just find Martha within a full hour?
Lex still gets caught at literally every step of his plan (the middle-eastern attack, kidnapping Lois and Martha, blowing up the senate, and creating Doomsday). He leaves Lois, an accomplished reporter, alive twice, even after seeing his face. At the one point where Lex's plan to discredit Superman succeeds and Superman actually leaves, he kidnaps Lois and forces him to come back... Poor Jesse's portrayal of Lex was also outright awful. There's almost nothing of the comic character in the way he's portrayed or written. Lex is suave, the smartest person on the planet, very complex, steps ahead, and always manipulating. The only similarity movie Lex has to this is that he's manipulative, but it's executed so poorly that it doesn't save anything.

These are just some of the overreaching problems with the three main characters of the movie. Batman isn't a detective and is easily manipulated, while also trying to murder someone he sees saving thousands all the time over 2 years. Other people argue about Superman, but he himself barely does anything. Lex's plan is absolute trash and he throws his entire life and corporation away based on very weak motivations against Superman. Lois takes up screen time in a bloated movie and accomplishes almost nothing and has no arc. Character decisions make no sense. It was disappointing to say the least.

How do you expect to make a good movie out of this? Also, Zack Synder has yet to introduced the characters properly before even making the trinity appear together in this movie. And, that's not all. Batman kills. This film also spends time showing how the world doesn't appreciate Superman (similar to Man of Steel), which is definitely not the case in the comics, where majority of the world trusts Superman. Another indication that Zack Synder clearly doesn't understand the characters. Next, why Batman stop short of killing Superman because of that 'Martha' scene? Why? It is also a very weak plot tool to stop the 2 heroes from fighting. What's worse? Killing off Superman. There were many comics produced before DC decided to kill off Superman. Zack Synder seriously went too quick with killing off Superman. While I wanted 'The Death of Superman' story arc to be in the DCEU, I didn't expect it to happen this quick. The runtime is also too long. Its 2 and a half hours long and I was literally quite bored in between. There's also only one primary villain who soesn't even have the potential to take on the 3 heroes. Enough! I could go on and on the whole day talking about how trashy this movie is, but I'm sick of reviewing this movie. What's the only good thing about this movie? It's the first movie to show the trinity together. Well actually there's one more. Jesse Eisenberg really played a good Lex Luthor. He is really evil as Lex Luthor and it's sad to see him in such a horrible garbage. Honestly, with that much horrible stuff in this movie, I wonder how the (insert bad word here) fans even like this movie. Perhaps its just crazy DC fanboys who deep down know how horrible this movie is but purposely gave this movie a good rating because they hated on Marvel so much that they wanted the DCEU to beat the MCU, and/or Batman fanboys who thought the movie is good just because Batman beat Superman.

That said, I never lose hope until the director himself decides to give up. Looking forward to the Justice League movie which is coming soon! Hopefully Zack Synder does a better job this time round.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. At first I thought that Man of Steel would be the weakest of the DCEU and was excited for BvS. Then the movie came out. An incoherent mess with terrible characterization, godawful cgi during the final battle, and one of the worst portrayals of a villain. Jessie Eisenberg's Luther is closer to Jim Carrey's riddler than Lex Luthor. Batman straight up kills people, which makes me ask how any of his villains are still alive. Superman mopes the entire movie, and the fight everyone waited for ended after five minutes because Superman said "Martha." All in all, this would have been the worst superhero movie of 2016 had suicide squad not been released. Zack Snyder needs to be fired before he ruins the rest of the DCEU. Expand

Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice is a total mess of a film. It tries too hard to include as many things and characters and story arcs as possible in one movie. In fact, it's too much, and the end result is too bad.

You got Batman and Superman fighting each other because they have been set up by Lex Luthor to do so, but the first 120 minutes of the movie's 150 are spent in boring speeches, court hearings, insignificant sub-plots and our heroes enjoying themselves in numerous galas. Oh, in the end we have Lex Luthor combining his blood and General Zod's dead body inside the alien spaceship from Man of Steel in order to create Doomsday, completely ravaging the villain's origin as established in the DC comics.

Henry Cavill is decent enough to portray Superman but Ben Affleck doesn't make a great Batman, while Jesse Eisenberg reduces Lex Luthor to a neurotic 30-year-old-spoilt-kid with tons of money who thinks he can do whatever he wants. On the other hand Gal Gadot seriously impresses as Wonder Woman in her relatively short appearance.

All in all Batman v Superman is a bad movie.

This film franchise looks to be a complete mess and a waste of studio money that seems like it was literally written by a hundred psychotic monkeys typing on typewriters (when in fact, it was influenced by hack-writer Frank Miller...). I would rather have paid the cost of a ticket to see the actors/actresses of this film play celebrity poker with each other than to see them work on this film. They were all better than this. Such a disappointment. Expand

What I saw when I watched this movie, was the most bloated, joyless and tedious comic book movie. I've heard all the support about it, it's different or it's a new interpretation. I didn't enjoy the interpretation. I didn't think it was deep and poignant. It is only helped that there have been worse Batman and Superman movies. I was entirely disappointed and have very little hope towards Justice League. Expand

First of all, this review does not contain spoilers - the reason being that I simply did not understand the movie.

The movie is composed of beautifully gritty images with lots of colors. I generally like colors in movies, so at this point I would give it a perfect 11. However, I did not understand the motivation behind the actions of Batman, Superman, Luthor, the manuscript writers, the directors and producers, so my total score lands on 3.

Was this movie made by combining lots of different superhero movie trailers? That would explain the time travel scene with Batman.

The giant cave monster from Lord of the Rings makes a cameo in the last 20 minutes, was this included in error?

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I did not enjoy this movie. My biggest problem with it is that there are entire sequences where Batman mopes like some emo teenager. I am afraid that DC is taking a step backwards here, and that I will from now on ignore DC films as part of my boycott of the "remake industry". Expand

Which is a shame because I was really looking forward to this movie. No offense to Ben Afflick but he SHOULD NOT be playing Batman. He doesn't capture Batman nearly as well as Bale and I never really bought in. Cavil and Adams were alright.
I give this movie a three and not a zero because although I was disappointed and felt as if I had just wasted 2 1/2 hours, it looks like effort was put into the film (even though it sucked ass).

And I'm not speaking only as a cinephile, but also as a long time comics lover. Seriously, it's not year 1992. At DC they must have been drunk to release this piece of junk. First of all the screenplay is so badly written, my 4 years old niece could have done a better job. It seems like they have no other option than showing the death of Bruce
Wayne's parents again and again. Every time slightly different. And him falling into the damn pit. All the great work they did with the Dark Knight trilogy has vanished! Gone forever. Forgotten. I was wishing they were planning to add some interesting facets to Superman and Wonder Woman, to save them (and me) from the clichés they are, but no. They threw Batman too in a mud of superficial plot, where everything
happens for no (or stupid) reasons. Ben Affleck already killed Daredevil. Now he'll be wrecking with his inexpressive mask the next generation of Batman movies too! Guys, you just took my enthusiasm for
DC's upcoming movies away.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Where to start? a few good action sequences do not a coherent story make - much like the derided MoS. Which is unfortunate, as you'd have thought Snyder and WB would have learned their lesson, or at least taken note of the things people (very vocally) found wrong with that movie. The plot in BvS at times is so thin as to beggar belief, relying on such flimsy plot points that you need to re-watch the movie just to figure out what they actually were, and the re-watch again just to make sure they were as **** as you thought they were. Which is a terrible waste - of time for you, of opportunity for WB/DC.

I literally hate Henry Cavill as Superman, with his one dimensional performance, Snyders horrible colouring that makes him look more like a character out of TWD than anything else, the horrible shiny suit, his over-bulked appearance, and that freaky dimple on his chin. The fact that they shoe-horned Lex Luthor, the Dark Knight Returns story and Doomsday (the death of Superman) into one movie - 3 major, major plot lines - just leaves my jaw having open. The fact that Doomsday is the worse CGI creation since jar jar binks is just another kick in the teeth to those who ever hoped to see these characters done justice on the big screen.

The sheer illogicality of the story is at times mind blowing. I won't go over all the times that you will very likely turn to whoever you're watching the movie with, a puzzled look on your face, just to make sure you saw what you think you saw, but suffice to say it makes less sense than a jigsaw puzzle of an incomplete scene with half the pieces missing.

Lois Lane and Lex Luthor are not even worth mentioning - suffice to say Amy Adams and Jesse Eisenberg are not the best choices, as great as those 2 might be in other roles.

I don't mind a dark tone - in fact i think at times it works well, in certain contexts. Not here, and not all the time, but once in awhile. But the biggest failing of this movie is not the dark tone, as so many love to point out, but the the shoddy, borderline incompetent storytelling and the humourless execution. There is very little to endear this movie to either fans or casual viewers alike.

You want toThe only exciting about this movie is when you bet with your friends who will get a Razzie. Ok let's break it down. This movie is derived from the big book of superhero cliches and unless you're 10 yr old you have seen it all. You want to establish a superhero ? Get him to save a girl who's staring blankly while a ton of rubble is falling down on her head. For the whole 3 hour (!) you get to see many cliched scenes, melodramatic cliched scenes played in slow motion that at one point you just want to yell enough already I get your point. Now the cast. Well we have a Batman who's not exactly the Batman but a bad cop doing all sort of police brutality. Then there's Superman and his nemesis Lex Luthor. Between those three I'm willing to bet one them will win a Razzie although my money's on Lex or Superman. Superman is trying hard to look mellow. But with Cavill's act, there are times I cannot tell if he is sad or cringing. Then there's Lex. Lex here isn't the cool-headed calculating Lex but a rambling lunatic like The Joker. He speaks in incoherent manner which supposedly evokes the image of a mad genius. But the way he puts it, he's just simply incoherent. I'm pretty sure the extras in this movie didn't fake it when they put up the "wtf are you talking about" looks to his speech. And finally the plot. Well if you have watched Superman-Batman animated, Justice League or even the trailer then you'll get the backdrop of the movie. There's probably one or two reasons why people can begin to distrust Superman. Now how can one make something predictable worse ? One way is by making it ridiculous. By the time you get to the well-anticipated fight between the two superheroes you will say to yourself "What ?? Is that why they fight ?". Another Razzie for the scriptwriter. Expand

A horrible mishmash of incoherent drivel. One of the greatest opportunities in superhero cinema totally squandered away in a nonsensical plot and skewed character dynamics. I think when you have the chance to have two of the biggest and best superheroes ever in the same movie like Batman and Superman and be able to pit them against each other, I don't know why you bother to go further than that. That in itself makes for a potentially legit movie. Instead we have a half baked attempt at blockbusting. Lots of expensive flash and bang with no substance. A host of dazzling characters, but no heart or humanity to any of them. A long looping plot with bizarre and abrupt changes with no motivation or common sense behind them. That Batman warehouse fight scene was crazy cool, but that is about it. There is a reason why after this Ben demanded complete control of his own stand alone Batman reboot. This was a shameful flop, not worth money. Expand

The main fight didn't need to exist, absurd coincidences happen, Superman didn't even need to die. I would stay here one years listing all the flaws.

Batman vs Superman is a 2 out of ten , and that's bring real generous . The only thing that saved this movie from being one of the worst super hero films ever was the half bake superhero hero team-up against a so called ogre , oh I mean Doomsday. To say Jesse Eisenburg ruined this movie is a super super super understatement . He was terrible . Zack Snyder is terrible from directing this mess and the Justice League movie will be ten times more terrible if Lois Lane or Eisenburg are anywhere near the movie . This is easily one of the worst movies of the last Two years , not just this year. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is complete **** The script and the direction were pathetic and it sucks for the screenwriters because they wrote Argo. Zack Snyder once again ruined what could have been a great superhero movie. Jesse Eisenberg was annoying as Lex Luther and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman was barely in the film. Henry Cavill did an ok job returning his role as Superman. Ben Affleck did do a good job as Batman though and his performance is what saved the movie. Everything else was average even the CGI. It's too bad that Ben Affleck was in another bad superhero movie, because he wanted to redeem himself from the atrocious Daredevil. Unfortunately, he got unlucky and it wasn't his fault. Expand
