Great visuals and design. Story and character development were great. Loved the first movie and have great memories of watching it with my mom at the theater when it first came out but this one manages to be better. This is a really amazing film. The effects and the high frame rate make this unlike anything I’ve ever seen at the cinema. Just so good. This movie is a total amusement park ride in all the best ways. I watched it in high frame rate 3D, and thought it was fantastic. It will probably take you a few re-watch to catch all of them; i too need re-watch to catch some of the nuances, like those between Spider and his father. An optical spectacle, worthy successor of the first movie, the new installment is breathtaking in every way. Those underwater scenes are awesome and the story builds enough secondary plots to make the stakes high enough. The middle 90 minutes are so stunning that it deserves a 10. Most amazing thing ever put on screen. Ok, one can quibble with the story. But the heart is there, it is supposed to be a teen movie. Despite being a very long movie Avatar: The Way of the Water at times is a superior sequel. That is more beautiful to look at “especially in IMAX 3D.” With some better action and adventure.

A movie more about characters and their way of life than the story itself, that is refreshing in a blockbuster! This is why I mean this is a movie with a lot of soul, between hunanoids and animals also.

Loved it, never been so immersed. Was in the edge of my seat, either by suspense, sheer see in the 3D visuals or writhing in emotions. Amazing rollercoaster and journey of a movie.

If you loved the first one, you will love this one. I did and I do. Most fun I've had in the theater since the last Avatar movie. Look I loved Dune, loved Bladerunner 2049 but this is a different deal. It's at once lighter and more gutIf you loved the first one, you will love this one. I did and I do. Since everything is political these days, here's the deal... people on the right will **** about the woo woo earth Goddess religion, the "noble savage", "native people good/America/military/Corporations/white people bad" angle, and the "save the planet" stuff while people on the left will decry the patriarchal society, the testosterone filled, strong, positive male characters, the emphasis on children and family stuff. Meanwhile movie snobs will say the classic heroic plot is too cookie cutter and shallow. I say, check your politics at the door and show up for one of the most amazing action adventure stories ever brought to the screen. Gorgeous, funny, heart felt and unique. Absolute 10 out of 10 for me!… Expand

Each and every frame was a Piece of art, Experience in 3d was jaw-droppingly stunning. The story is deeply moving and profound, it’s incredible BRO! I know it’s cool to hate on Avatar, and if you don’t get it I understand, it’s actually a little highbrow now. The movie is amazing; I’ve seen it twice in 3D and it’s honestly the most jaw-dropping and incredible spectacle I’ve seen with my eyes. I could go on but I don’t feel like it; the people who know already know, the people who don’t are missing out on a CORE MEMORY. It’s funny, I used to think Infinity War/Endgame was the cream of the crop. Those are just silly **** movies, yet people will say they are better. I love them but they’re fools, the lot. This is the most awesome movie I’ve ever seen and I will be seeing it at least once more, thank you very much. I see you James Cameron. I’ll be here for your journey.… Expand

This film is a visual masterpiece, a real unique experience of cinematography. Yes, the theme is fairly straightforward - one of protection and conservation of nature - but the story has evolved as this time it focuses on Jake and his role asThis film is a visual masterpiece, a real unique experience of cinematography. Yes, the theme is fairly straightforward - one of protection and conservation of nature - but the story has evolved as this time it focuses on Jake and his role as a father and leader. It also introduces his kids and the rebellious nature of adolescents, and the consequences of such. These ideas are universal across all culture and are brilliantly displayed on the big screen. You don't need plot twists and incredibly complex characters to tell a compelling story.

Even though it's over 3 hours, there wasn't a boring moment in the film, and the pacing is appropriate. Being the second of a 5 film series, the ending is more of a pause than a conclusion but that's ok given the scope of the project.

Overall, It's an immensely enjoyable film that appeals to everyone, young and old, and is quite possibly worth multiple viewings in a cinema.… Expand

This is what the cinema experience was made for. Cameron is a visionary. Diving into the oceans of Pandora was one of the best experiences ever. I watched it in 3D, which made for an even better the immersiveness.

Simply BEAUTIFUL.
Avatar 2 explore in a deeper way the characters and set a new beginning for the war of Pandora.
Jake's sons are well developed and interesting characters, the Metkayna tribe is beautiful and their Way of Water is fascinatingSimply BEAUTIFUL.

Yes, Quaritch return and break out from the stereotype of the "bad marine", even him is developed more and that's really good.
Avatar 2 is technically a masterpiece with a story more "of transition" but crucial for the develope of characters and always enjoyable, with even comedy scenes never cringy (not marvel style, for god sake...).

Possibly the longest movie i've ever watch in theater yet one of the most fascinating movie theater experience i've ever had in my life, Avatar: The Way Of Water is fun, emotional, and powerful, it hits all the notes perfectly, i never enjoyPossibly the longest movie i've ever watch in theater yet one of the most fascinating movie theater experience i've ever had in my life, Avatar: The Way Of Water is fun, emotional, and powerful, it hits all the notes perfectly, i never enjoy an adventure films specifically outside planet earth this much in a long time, the movie never stops amazed me not only in the details of all the visual and special effects, but the story of Avatar: The Way Of Water was just incredible, all of these characters are so well written, so well perform, and again i cannot say how much i'm still amazed by all the visual and special effects in this film and it basically 95% of this film was all freakin' CGI, it definitely some of the best ones i've seen, it's so detail and so good that not even one frame including the human where i found some CGI flawed, where i can see the green screen or the blue screen in the background just a little bit NONE of that!, everything is perfect, praise for all the effect team and they deserve all the awards for it, this is how you use a CGI in movie rightly people, back to the movie itself, James Cameron recently reveal that he had planned to make Avatar 6 and 7 and one of the sentence that he said was basically the only person that can make Avatar is him, and you god damn right, i don't think anybody can ever make an Avatar movie than the creator himself James Cameron, because The Way Of Water is simply go down as one of the best movie sequel ever made for me, yes, i like it even more than the first one, not only we got more characters on the film and specifically great characters, upgrade visual, i think a better far more superior story and again even though the villain of the movie still the same, somehow it works, we also got the world of water instead of forest world, now i'm not saying that Pandora isn't beautiful, but the world of water excited and amazed me even more, it's an 3 hours and 12 minutes of epic, with the first two hours being one of the most well paced also entertaining, emotional, and powerful build up, ended with an epic climax in the last hour that basically feels like a combination between both James Cameron Terminator and Titanic, lot's of emotion, solid, exciting, and epic battle, entertaining, and mind blowing, i love Avatar: The Way Of Water, it's simply top 10 movie of the year for me, never been so hooked up and locked in a 3 hours movie like this in a long time, it's like i was converted to the movie, it's spectacular, it's amazing, i don't mind if James Cameron will only do Avatar now, do not let anybody take over, Avatar: The Way Of Water is a superb sequel that fills with incredible performance by all the cast, amazingly detail visual and special effects, gorgeous looking film with gorgeous wild world, fantastic score and use of sound, fascinating story, a powerful journey with a lot of emotion and hearts to it, Avatar: The Way Of Water is perfect!, bring on the next one James Cameron!.… Expand

After Aliens 1986 and terminator 1984 , this is the greatest and hardest of Mr Cameron

Pandora is created for the first time in this film, not because of Cameron's rough filmmaking style. Rather, it is the emotion that create it. Yes, it is the emotion that make Pandora. After Aliens 1986 and Terminator 1984, this movie is Cameron's hardest and toughest movie. This movie is a great work that a rough filmmaker makes up with emotions. The world of Avatar is readable, not too complicated. But it takes form. Avatar 2's special effects are not just an invention. Rather, it serves the story.. it serves the characters.. it serves the mise en scene. ....
Jake sully and his wife are paid again and aren't the just big stars of a simple romantic standard level of payment.

It seems that here the filmmaker should not refer his story to a film of the first part, but James Cameron explains everything with the focus he has in filmmaking during short impressions.

This movie is much better than the first part because here we are not going to go through a very long and boring introduction about a multi-line story. This movie starts from the first moments.

The dialogues are not on air. In this film, the director has become an expert in the world of his film and remarkably innovatively creates a very good interaction between action and adventure. It can be very difficult to formalize the plot of a traditional story better than this.

I have a nostalgia with the special effects of the first part of this movie (only with its special effects), but that doesn't make me want to prefer the first part. The difficulty of this movie is like aliens. And I have never seen its softness in Cameron's films.… Expand

This was a big time movie ass movie, takes a few minutes to adjust to higher framerate but the movie has it all and is so beautifully shot and rendered that I had a truly wonderful time.

В этот раз не получилось в кино сходить, но даже посмотрев его у себя на 4к мониторе, я был поражает уровнем графики, опять как 2009г, как и обещал Кэмерон, проработал водную сторону вопроса, выглядит все очень красиво, правдоподобно (правда то что человек на дне или нави, могут 5 минут еще жить без воздуха это конечно меня поразило).
Про сюжет ( не понял момента то что откуда у людей еще одна база на планете? Ее не тронули тогда? Похожа прям на ту ) А так вроде правильный сиквел, больше того что надо: Нави, воды, тема семьи).
3 часа, прошли не заметно, а вроде особо ничего то и не произошло, если так подумать, в конце битва, которая пошла не по плану злодеев. (зачем им сдался ГГ? И почему он ушел? Дали бы отпор опять! И теперь оказывается их привлекают не только материалы дорогие, а еще и сок китов.) Столько вопросов, ждем 3 аватар, благо на этот раз ждать не 13 лет, а 2г.… Expand

This is my favorite movie of all time. So yes, I'm probably pretty biased here. Let's start with the visuals: They are perfect. Just perfect. See it in Imax. I'm not a fan of 3D, but see it in 3D. The Avatar films provide a different viewpoint from many other sci-fi and action movies which I appreciate.

An emotional journey that gripped me the moment the story began. The visual effects were amazing as well as the musical score, but if I didn't enjoy myself I'd give nowhere near a perfect rating regardless of the technical aspect as I only rate on enjoyment.

The narrative, characters, and world building are top notch and I'd recommend anyone to watch the movie even if they didn't see the first one. It's a perfect sequel.… Expand

Those who base their entire review on the plot are just delusional. You can't objectively watch this movie and say it isn't one of the most stunning visual and cinematographic experiences you ever had, if not the best one.

The level of detail Cameron put in this is actually unbelievable. If you put your attention on the world building, on the amount of credible alien-animal creatures he created, on the scenery he imagined, you will be stunned.

Talking about the plot, it may be simple (just as some of the highest rated movies ever), but it improved a lot from the first one. Besides, if you dig just a little bit deeper, you will notice a lot of symbolism, mythology and sub-plots which develop throughout the movie.

During its 3 hour running time, it touches themes such as the strength of family values, the fallacies of group ideologies and traditions, the psychological toll of being different and the ever changing human-nature relationship. It makes you fall in love with Pandora, and in return, to our Planet.

You can really tell Cameron and his team spent years not only researching ancient human tribes dynamics and mythology to make the movie ones realistic, but also creating new recording techniques that will improve the cinema industry from now on.

Everything you see seems real: there's no distinction between CGI and reality. I'd also like to highlight Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver acting. Just amazing.

If you want to live an almost out of body experience and just be amazed for three hours, go watch it. You won't regret it.… Expand

It is a film about indigenous and animals suffering because of human greed, it wants you to empathize and immerse yourself. Seeing how I've re-watched Avatar more times than I can count, I do have a sole understanding of the movie and its sequel. You have to see the film in Cameron's eyes, in fact, the characters eyes!
