Some plot points, such as with Scott's daughter, are just inane and idiotic. Other aspects (like the helicopter pilot, the safe cracker, etc) are very enjoyable. As long as you suspend belief and just enjoy the ride, it's definitely a decent zombie movie. By no means a thinker however. Just decently good actors with good special effects in an above-average, unique concept. It was fun and if you own Netflix, it's definitely worth a watch but if not, feel free to skip. Expand

Literally everything in this film is an homage to something. It's a heist film set in a zombie film, but that's just the beginning. The way the cast is recruited is only slightly less of a heist film parody than the heist episode of Rick and Morty. Every beat of the film happens right when you expect it to, which could mean it's predicable but that also reinforces how much it depends on the plethora of homages to previous films. If you think this film takes itself too seriously, you haven't noticed that all of the zombies are dancing in all of the zombie scenes, in some cases like the zombies in Thriller. In one scene, the alpha zombie approaches a pool with zombies on both sides and it looks like it could be a group performance on World of Dance.

All in all, it's not a great film, but if you take it as wholly tongue-in-cheek, it can be a real fun time. And if you turn it into a game to spot all of the references, you're in for a challenge, too.

What kind of noob cameraman shoots a portrait shot in shadow against an extremely bright background??? It was obviously a creative choice, because the exposition is delivered in back-lit darkness over and over and over again. As a photographer I found it infuriating. When someone is delivering dialogue you want their face lit so you can see properly what they are saying and the facial expressions, not people talking in shadow repeatedly. Maybe it was done on purpose so you cant see the wooden acting very well, who knows but I found it to be terrible. Large parts of the film are shot at a ridiculously shallow depth of field, leaving the subject of the frame out of focus. Some of the action sequences are a messy blur and much of it could be filmed anywhere as the background is continually out of focus. Its like someone has just discovered bokeh and totally overuses the effect when it is not needed or beneficial.

As for the movie itself, it was fun in a few places, had a couple of funny moments but was mostly fairly predictable and dull. It may have been because I was really looking forward to the film based on the trailers, the actual film itself was a bit of a let down in comparison. If you've seen the trailers you've seen 95% of the best parts of the entire 2.5 hour running time. It could easily have had 30-45 minutes chopped off with no loss and would have probably made for a better film. It felt it dragged on and on in places where the action slowed to some heartfelt dialogue, but I cared little for the characters, so wasn't really bothered about all the relationship parts of the film. It also had excessive slow-mo. It was a passable movie, but nothing special and certainly not something I would want to watch more than once.

Dave Bautista leads a team into a zombie-infested Las Vegas to recover $200 million. To add to the pressure, they only have a few hours til the city is nuked plus they encounter a newer, smarter horde of zombies (in typical Vegas style all of the male creatures are ripped). While the potential for a wild ride is obvious, it misses on most every turn. The dialogue is pedestrian and the plotting even worse. There are a few minor moments of thrills (esp. the tiger attack), but The Walking Dead has mounted many more clever undead attacks. There’s too much earnest dialogue and no humor to offset it (other than Matthias Schweighöfer as the geeky safe cracker, who isn’t even that special). The tired tropes and unoriginal encounters don’t make up for the lack of imagination or excitement. Expand

The prologue was straight out of Zombieland. If you've seen 30 Days of Night, you know the alpha zombies are basically a carbon copy of those vampires. Helicopter circling back around...Aliens. He stole from some great movies, but the fact is that he stole a ton of ideas.

And the acting...This didn't feel like a B movie, it felt like a C movie. I'll grant them that the script was also horrendous, so they didn't have much to work with. Snyder fell way short in attempting to get the audience to bond and even give a crap about any of the characters. The only one I cared about at all was the coyote. Pretty sure that's not what he was going for.

From someone who loves the zombie genre, this was very disappointing. I did even find myself dozing off a couple of times in the first hour. If you HAVE to watch every zombie movie that comes out, go ahead and waste the 150 minutes. Otherwise, I'd say skip it.

So naturally when I heard Zack Snyder was making a kind of, sort of, but not really follow-up to his excellent directorial debut (2004's Dawn of the Dead) I was intrigued. After all, who better to reanimate the corpse of what was once everybody's favorite brand of horror than the man responsible for what is likely the only good remake of an entry in Romero's defining trilogy and easily one of the best zombie flicks of all time? Unfortunately, Army of the Dead is not the resurrection agent I was looking for, offering up some decent brain splattering action, but little else to get excited about.

To be fair, when it's being a straight zombie movie it's actually pretty good. The gore is delightfully over-the-top, the heist premise is legitimately kind of cool, and it even provides some nice twists on these classic monsters. The concept of "smart zombies" is one I've never been able to get behind before, as even George Romero himself couldn't make the higher-functioning undead come off as anything more than just plain goofy when he tried his hand at it back in 2005 with Land of the Dead. Snyder's attempt at giving these rotting creatures some intelligence however, shockingly makes them a bit more menacing and leads to a few unique and inventive scenarios before he inevitably takes things too far. The problem? It takes roughly an hour to get to any of this stuff.

The first half of Army is bogged down with needlessly convoluted exposition and introductions to characters we are never able to care about (except Dieter) because they are either underdeveloped, get next to no screentime, or are flat out unlikeable. Then there's the final act where Snyder straight up jumps the shark in a myriad of ways, making it clear he doesn't know how things like, for example, the aftermath of a nuclear strike work. Or maybe he does and that was a part where I was supposed to turn my brain off and simply enjoy the ride. It's never clear just how seriously Snyder wants us to take all of this due to the weird amalgam of tones on display. There are elements of B-movie cheese and absurdity juxtaposed with solemn character drama and harsh acts meant to convey socio-political messages. Like Batman v Superman and the director's other more grand projects, it's a mess of ideas that never fully come together in the most satisfying of ways. Only this time imbued with the exuberance of 12 year old rather than the grimdark edginess of a moody teen found in his superhero works.

If you just want to see decaying heads explode in a mess of blood and brains, Army can certainly provide that in a mostly entertaining fashion. However, despite Snyder's knack for creating fun action sequences the faults with things like the writing, tone, and maybe even the vision itself keep the film from being anything more than a watchable letdown. I've certainly killed two-and-a-half hours in worse ways before, but I've still been left with a craving for a better zombie movie. One with the potential to revive the infected hordes and our passion for them once again.

Tig notaro was **** WASTED in this movie and thats a **** crime. Shes born to play the wise cracking smart engineery type but even star trek discovery let her shine better than this and thats already got some less than stellar reviews for its writing. Honestly snyder should just stay well away from writing his own stuff, as a set piece designer, fantastic. Putting style to adaptations is his forte but actually writing a movie hes an absolute mess, i really was wondering why we were given that scene that was supposed to be emotional and tear jerker between bautista and his daughter at the end of the movie when the rest of the movie just has absolutely no lead up too it. even in one scene she just straight up does a 180 from angry at dad -> forgive you for everything with no reason. like if you want to make a mad zombie romp snyder **** do it! more power to you. but dont just throw a load of inconsistent stuff in, its like he was trying to hit every, single, hollywood, beat. at once. james gunn style comedy (attempted) suicide squad esque crack team (attempted) different take on zombies (attempted) the list goes on, its like he tried to do everything and failed at making any of the thigns he tried to do good. The cast has some really impressive names although I'm surprised they didn't use their acting abilities more to really show the characters emotions, they have tried to make each character unique with their weapons and kit but don't really succeed because they don't let us get inside the characters heads. I think that the zombies also could have been used a lot more and the characters should have ran into more trouble than they did approaching the destination, they could have accomplished this by perhaps using different tribes of zombies, just because one turned was the alpha doesn't mean they all have to follow him . They could have made use of the shambler zombies and used them more like foot soldiers to the alpha. The other problem this movie has is the fact it's extremely predictable you can guess everything that's going to happen probably 10-15 minutes into the movie. The movie is probably worth a watch and if be open to watching a sequel although I'd like to see more character development and emotions with a little bit more of a secretive nature about the plot and what's about to happen in the action scenes. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Zack Snyder’s first post DC film is a **** mess... As someone who absolutely loves Zack Snyder’s remake of Dawn of the Dead, I was hoping for something similar in tone. The thought of a heist film set during the zombie apocalypse, that sounded awesome, and it should have been. Instead the film decides it wants to drop the “heist” idea two thirds of the way into the film when the secondary “baddie” lets another character know “it was never about the money”, just so he can steal a super zombie’s head for the government to experiment on. There inlays another problem with the film, zombies and “super” zombies. The film treats the normal zombies like your average cannon fodder with no real threat. The first member of Bautista’s team dies after she solo massacres dozens of them, only to not quite be swarmed and still be savable yet still get abandoned. And that’s the only major incident involving the normal zombies. Later the few we see are used for gags and the film switches focus onto the super zombies who communicate, are intelligent, and can apparently procreate. The worst offense the film makes is it’s character usage. We are introduced to a slew of interesting characters only for 90% of them to be killed off in the last 20-30 minutes and the one person who does survive is the least likable character in the group which is Bautista’s character’s daughter. Her own selfishness is what leads to half the team’s deaths because the person she’s trying to save **** dies anyways. The film ends by making the viewer believe that one of the few truly great characters survived only to reveal that he was bit and that the infection will now spread. I get that the film sets up a sequel and Netflix wanted it that way because there is a prequel anime on the way and a prequel movie that has apparently already finished development and is in post production. But this is 100% a case of counting your chickens before they hatch. Worst film Snyder has made, which is saying a lot given how much people hate Sucker Punch, and people rag on BvS. Definitely not worthy of a 70% on Rotten Tomatoes. No matter how much you love Snyder films or zombie films, which I love both. Avoid this film like a real life zombie plague. Expand

The initial premise was great, Zombie heist action movie, hoping for something like train to busan meets oceans 11, instead it was a movie that delivered neither a good heist or good zombie survival movie. The main issue being the extra hooks they kept tacking on. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with a movie tackling sensitive subjects such as immigration, and the abuse women face (two subjects this movie seems to want to cover) however do the subjects justice. Instead of being poignant it just feels like moral grandstanding, no actual substance what so ever and the movie just keeps derailing as it continued, adding then dropping plot devices whenever it wants.

I normally love a good cheesy B-movie action flick like this, if the plot sucks, you can just turn your brain off and enjoy the action at least, but not with this movie. The action is constantly being broken up with needless drama and aforementioned new plot device, like literally every 5m which is terribly written and terribly delivered by 50% of the cast. TLDR version of this review, I would avoid this movie like a zombie outbreak if you have any kind of taste and don't want to waste most of your afternoon.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am a huge zombie movie fan. I have seen everything from night of the living dead to resident evil and beyond. I’ve seen low budget and high budget. I’ve seen cheesy campy movies. This is the saddest most pathetic movie I have ever seen. Pure garbage in every aspect. It was sloppy, all over the place. Bad acting. Bad plot. It’s disturbing this movie has gotten a single positive review. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Why Zack why!?! You made this POS Movie with a bloated running time that should had been 90 minutes at best... Where to begin? Storyline was immature and a bit Woke for my taste and just plain stupid and dumb!!! You got a test Super Zombie with a Military escort of 10 soliders not a Platoon or a Company with Helio Support and closing off roads or better yet transport by a Airplane... Why not have the Troops being setup to failed by the government & the powers that be to have a control Zombie infection in a major city like Las Vegas to be able to control the infection spread rather than a guy getting a pleasure by his new bride and than turning into a stupid Casino Vault Heist a kin to Ocean Eleven Movies but where everyone dies because Woke Independent Modern Girl Kate gotta ruin the FFFing movie at the 90 minute mark by going off Solo when she is not Rambo and everybody gotta die because of Chosen One... I mean, why couldn't be kidnapping the Zombie Pregnant Woman not knowing she's pregnant because the Casino Heist was there payment for capturing the Pregnant Zombie Chick and them having to make a moral choice about what to do with the her at the end of the movie having finding about more of the backstory... Have a prior sent team member still be alive in Vegas to fill in some of the gaps and them killing the mole from the start once in Vegas already knowing that he was going to screw them... I mean, why couldn't Scott have a new life with Maria? Didn't Scott suffer enough in Life? Why not show how Scott save the Chief of Defense and why was Chief was there in the 1st place, rather than as a montage in the opening credits!?! And Kate went off on her own have her get Killed off without no one dying for her... Let me be a Lesson in a Life and especially with the Mother not caring that Kate die on her behalf because it about making a better life for her kids to Scott Face and be like I told her not too... This movie is beyond saving... Expand

Though with way more gore than either combined, this movie reminded me of “Ghosts of Mars” and “I Am Legend.” For me that’s not a bad thing. The plot is pretty straightforward and there are many elements that I like and that work well and to the movie’s favor. I really loved the opening and how it was used as a way to introduce the characters. It might have been the best use of slow motion that Snyder has ever implemented...and I truly hate nearly every bit of slow motion in his movies. I won’t spoil them, but there were a few somewhat fresh ideas on the zombie genre here too and I really enjoyed those as well. I think the setting was a great choice and the special effects are really good for the most part. There are a few animal sequences that could have been better, but they didn't take me out of my low level suspension of disbelief. While I didn’t love the very end of the movie I think that Netflix has plans making this a franchise and that could be really fun as they explore more of the mysteries they set up here. If you like action horror then Army of the Dead with definitely fit the bill for its runtime.

I find myself losing patience while watching the movie and in my subjective opinion terrible looking "zombie" (especially the female and male leader of the zombie). Spoilers ahead: For example you know that every white male is evil along with every hetero male (unless black). When they get to the roof I knew they hadn't been abandoned by teh pilot because he/she is LGBTQR+ and they are all noble. Only white or hetero men are evil. When the chopper crashed and the daughter survived I knew she would end up killing her dad. Her dad represents the patriarchy. They put these scenes in for brain washing propaganda. They made the daughter kill her own dad, it's symbolic of young women rejecting and killing the patriarchy. None of this is an accident. All done on purpose for woke propaganda. I won't even get started with the cast. You already know just from looking at them that this is not a group anyone would take in with them in real life. All movies today are so far removed from reality that it's 100% leftist propaganda. All the females are badasses with no faults. The entire thing is actually based on two lesbian lovers from a camp where one goes to save the other. Batista is not even the lead, in every scene a white woman is leading the team. It's such pathetic strong female character propaganda. It's too bad we let these people put this stuff out. Stop supporting them. Expand

It has some interesting ideas, but it starts scurrying around too much and ends up being quite dull because of it. And the characters I didn't care about seemed to do a lot better than the ones I did care for. So it felt like they had it all backwards when writing the script.

I don't usually mind high stakes movies that dares to take chances on the main characters. But this felt forced.

It has a scene later on in the movie, with a twist (literally), that ruined the rest of the movie for me. I lost all interest after that scene and only barely made it through to the end having moved the Netflix browser window to my secondary monitor. Only occasionally glanced at it to see what was going on.

Put into two words, to me, the movie felt "dull" and "exasperating". That's not usually how I feel about zombie movies. I usually love them. Not this one.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Spoilers Alert I'm a big zombie fan. Unfortunately this movie is Amazingly terrible.I wanted to like this movie so bad but the writing in this movie made no sense at all. The movie start off stupid. Why are the newly married couple having some type of sex in the middle of dessert at the same time as 4-5 armor trucks are coming toward the marry couple?than BOOM the car blow up onto the only truck that was carrying the master/King of zombies. Scott/the dad and the Kate/the daughter bond is just stupid as well. The daughter was so irritated.the movie try to foucsed more on her than anyone else.Nobody cares about Kate. She was the least interesting person in the whole movie. How can zombie have babies? Lol, that made no sense at all.there was no back story about why nor how the zombie baby was made. In that one scene where Kate/the daughter in the movie hide in a see thur broken down car as 100 zombies are running by and not ONE zombie saw her at all.?
Plus the pilot, how did she fix the Helicopter? She had no tools or anything to fix it. It made no sense. Lol... Also when the helicopter crash everyone dies but Kate,(Scott was bitten so I don't count him as being alive) after the crash her body was out of the helicopter. How in the heck did she survive? Lol. There was no many stupid things about this movie I can not named them all

In 2.5 hours no one really explained the zombies, I mean they are different from regular zombies, they think, they have a cyborg and a baby and nothing is really explained. The characters have 0 development and some are very cliches. Some scenes are very long and nothing really happens you just hear the background music and see the characters reactions. It was so long and boring that when the action scenes started I was so bored and tired that they didn't matter. The ending is also bad, this character at the end survived some really impossible events and it was so unimpressive.
I hate all Snyder's fans claiming this is such a great movie when is not, learn to separate the artist from the art, he's great, this movie isn't.

The previous Snyder zombie Dawn of the Dead is one my favorites of the genre right alongside Train from Busan. And while it does not fall totally flat is a far cry from the former.

>The Good: Decent production values, plenty of zombie killing, decent if wasted cast, if taken as pure no thinking popcorn movie it entertains, zombie tiger and Its Vegas, baby!

>The Bad: Poor pacing overall, feels like a haunted house in zombieland and Snyder can and has done a better job directing before, the casting is textbook diversity woke casting. No zombie Sinatra or Elvis. >The Ugly: Plotholes, so many the Pacific Fleet could drive across it with room to spare, it fails to keep minimal inner consistence too often and ham fisted politics, Sean Spicer, the scummy guard blackmailing and raping potentially zombie infected women and the pretty young woman rock groupie coyote are more unbelievable than the zombies, with such a lazy job of containment it's a wonder only Vegas is overrun with zombies. >Verdict: Its passable zombie fun, but don't expect too much like me.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Immensely bad, not even entertaining in a so-bad-its-good way. Too many things kill the narrative, take you out of the movie. The film is comstantly out of focus, Tig Notaro is awkwardly photoshopped into scenes, unpleasant characters like the daughter, the daughter’s friend subplot which makes no sense, etc. The film makes itself difficult to enjoy. Worst thing about it is the cast of characters, they should have cut half of them to focus on a few and make them more interesting. Just very puzzling that with this budget and a good cast (though maybe the cast is not so good, the movie does them no favors), this is the zombie movie Snyder puts together. The DotD remake was great. This is a terrible disappointment. Expand

I watch all zombie movies, no matter if they are low budget or not, and most of then at least are funny to watch even if I know the rest is trash, and even the movie directors and producers know it, they deal with it and give the best they can.
This time, this is a high budget movie, but have the quality of a low one, they pretend they are doing a good movie, its not, and they didn't achieve any fun on it, best sketch's are just bad at best.
Snyder did it all, nobody to blame, only himself, he wanted to show what its capable of, he show us that he lacks of the talent to write a a good script, produce a good movie, his direction is very bad.

The government wants to destroy both dicks because the government doesn't know the difference between good dick and bad dick. An accident happened because a dick was getting ducked at the start. So the good dick got a mission to take money and watch out for bad dick, but he only accepted this mission because Mrs gomez was there to protect his dick, she is the 1 dick protester, her sister in the other hand is a dick hit man, because the grew up in a dickledd household. Unfortunately Mrs gomez gets killed and everyone release that they are trying to kill good dick, unfortunately for the government the good fick had a daughters, they escaped and the good dick gave his daughter the good dick, the bad dick escaped too but took them time to build up, while they were building up, the daughter was using her dad's dick to one car doors, drive, oyster card etc. She discovers the government is following her so she uses her fafs dick to hack in the system. She figures out what the government was trying to do she gets bad dick and good dick to work together to destroy the government because we are all dicks.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Seeing a hierarchical kingdom of zombies is actually kinda refreshing. We have the Shamblers, who are derived from the typical zombies of the late 60s and the 70s, only slightly more evolved and a tad smarter. We've also got the Alphas, who are far more superior to the Shamblers: extremely agile, relatively fast and even capable of showing emotions. Their leader, Zeus, and the one who likely has turned them all into zombies, is quite intelligent and strong. Pretty much a human hadn't been for his gruesome look and his growling and screeching. He's even got himself a queen. The problem is, there's no proper explanation why they retain such human traits, with the Alphas acting and displaying emotions and feelings like humans to the point they come across as zombie imitators. Even worse, that left the hierarchical structure unexplored and unsatisfyingly vague and muddled. That said, I wouldn't hesitate looking past these inadequacies resulted from such half-baked world building so long as they would be offset by the galore of bloody fun expected from an action-packed zombie flick. Sadly, I can't say the movie fully delivered on that either, as the entertainment value is heavily undercut by a plethora of issues including clunky dialogue, one-note characters that are either mere stereotypes or unabashedly ripped off of other action movie characters — most notably from Aliens — tonal inconsistency, overly-dramatic moments and, worst of all, a total failure in embracing all of these shortcomings openly in an act of self-awareness of sorts. For starters, the attempts at comedy are awfully bad, with all the jokes falling flat and some of them are just plain cringe-worthy. Ludwig Dieter, the German safecracker who's supposed to be the comic relief character, is unbearably annoying and dumb. The same can be said about some frequent, albeit unsubstantial and tentative, tongue-in-cheek allusions to politics. Needless to say, all the concerns mentioned above have come to the surface and become impossible to ignore. The emotional scenes Scott (David Bautista) share with his daughter Kate are both repetitive and devoid of the slightest dramatic impact, mainly because the plotline revolves around their tumultuous relationship is woefully underdeveloped. Although the movie had its fair amount of time to provide necessary background for its main characters, the bulk of the first act is diminished by poor editing, sluggish tone and unfocused narrative. As an actioner, Army of the Dead is, in fact, quite generic and derivative despite its desperate attempts to conceal that with its skin-deep contrivance, buckets of blood and gore and no skimping on slow-motion moments you'd expect from Zack Snyder. No action scene is memorable or even intriguing enough. Clocking in at nearly two and a half hours, the movie also feels strangely limited in scope, which is not only unusual from Zack Snyder but also at odds with the epic it lends itself to be. That, along with having a kind of a pattern when it comes to switching between humour, action and drama, stifled the tension the perilous zombie territory could've yielded in spades. The fact I dozed off midway through is enough to prove how tedious the end result turned out to be. Even the songs in its endless soundtrack playing rather abruptly didn't help galvanizing the ponderous second act. Honestly, however, the movie picks up in its third act, which is basically one elongated action sequence with the climactic scene being genuinely gripping. Dave Bautista's performance is one of the few redeeming factors here, with some schmaltzy emotional scenes he single-handedly rendered them watchable. Still, Army of the Dead is a predictable, ridiculously overlong zombie heist movie that tried so hard to be an epic, brainless gorefest but ended up being nothing but a borefest. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Excellent zombie movie with a tasteless predictable ending.

From start to about half of the movie is just simply excellent, fun, gory and violent it has all you want to see from a zombie movie. Sadly it is just stupidly cliche with a part in which the bad guy (you literally know who he is right after he's introduced) attempts to Kill a latino girl who's John wick with a vagina (literally), she somehow survives just to be killed shortly afterwards in front of her team but still having all the time in the world to scream to them advising who the traitor is, not only that, the guys could've totally saved her by shooting a barrage of bullets (what a stupid scene). Then there's the failed hero daughter who is just a blatant imbecile who condemns the group because she needs to save her friend, everybody dies and finally the second survivor becomes a zombie leaving the perfect cliffhanger for another excellent yet mediocre 2nd flick.

I found a lot of joy watching the creepiness and comic like characters in this ultra dystopian near future. The zombies were really good, the acro and stunts really brought it home, and, well, a Zombie Tiger. Also if you look for it, one of the team looks like Vasquez from Aliens, and does her best fight sequence as such easily. I loved the moments with what if, and could it happen along with the music choices and crazy situations. It's a comic book come to life, and Zack did a great job with everyone. The 0.95EF lens might not have worked for me, but over the film's length it felt personal and was a very good choice. Enjoy it, grab something to chomp on and watch it alone in the dark tonight. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The worst Zombie movie ever made. Lacks of plot, ridiculously splatter, pathetically tries to be a drama. Awful. The song "Zombie" used in the end scene it's an insult to The Cranberries, who wrote it as a song against war. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really liked the premise and story and ending. Some of the acting was terrible, a lot of the CGI was dated and I absolutely 100% despised the whole insanely shallow depth of field cinematography. 75% of practically every scene was out of focus, it just doesn't work for me at all. I still enjoyed the movie but I was definitely disappointed and feel that it had the potential to be so much better than it was. Expand

This isWhat an absolute stinking pile of garbage. I'm not even gona start on the turd of a script but netflix scripts are 95% of the time terrible & Synder isn't exactly known for it either but at least his movies are stylish & can be fun. This is none of that, it's boring, beyond stupid & no fun whatsoever. Which is a travesty to the genre then any attempt to add heart to the story is seriously wide of the mark, nevermind that you couldn't give a **** about the characters that are meant to deliver that heart.

The more interesting characters get little screen time or are killed off quick. Then there is the incredibly annoying daughter character in Ella Purnell who you just want to strangle the whole way through but she dominants the screen time. I really have lost my faith in the movie industry to be able to produce anything of a decent standard, the current standard of writing in particular is frighteningly bad. And we are not allowed have a single movie that isn't saturated with politics no matter how silly the film. So here i am, a life long movie fan that has completely lost his faith in the industry to produce anything of quality. It seems we live in the age of acceptable low standards.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Little by little, Zach Snyder becomes the modern Michael Bay...
This is Army Of Dead, made for the Audience of the Dead..
This movie starts of good until about almost halfway in when it starts to stumble until it falls flat on its face.
The Zombies here are plain stupid. They have intelligence, and are apparently fertile.. LOL.

Otherwise mediocre performances by everyone, and a dire score containing alternative cover versions of well known songs.
Movie could have been cut short if Snyder could please leave the Slow Motion button alone.

+1 for a few gory scenes..

Decent for a Sunday popcorn flick but nothing else.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. TLDR: Army of the Dead sucks! Full of clichés, uninteresting characters, stupid deaths and the old narrative that the military screws up and but then they want to take advantage of their screw up to build super soldiers... One of the most unoriginal, uninteresting zombie movies ever…the ending makes no sense, the main character (Dave Bautista) gets bitten and within a few minutes he turns, the other guy (Omari Hardwick) gets bitten by the same main Zombie dude (that for some reason is smart enough to hear a helmet but dumb enough to wear a cape), but somehow it takes several hours, perhaps even days until he starts to turn?
So disappointed with Zack Snyder, after releasing a Masterpiece that was Justice League (his 4 hour version), he does something like this… Zack Snyder is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get…a masterpiece or masterfiasco.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What an amazing movie! Totally wasn’t expecting this! I was expecting a no brainer and zombie killing movie (with some slow motion shots haha). But wow! It made me care for the zombies?! Also, it touches on a lot of interesting concepts which should be explored in the sequels like aliens, time travel loop? So it’s definitely not only a zombie movie. Definitely need to watch it a few times to grasp it.

The only character arc I didn’t like was batista’s daughter. She was like the “Chris Pratt in infinity war”. The rest all did their job relatively well!

These reinvents the zombie movie genre. I hope they make more of these kind of movies which reinvents the genres!
