The entire first season plus the special 400 Days episode are brought to what is now the current gen of consoles. There isn't really much to say that I haven't already said before when I reviewed this game on other consoles. It's the same incredible writing, difficult decision making, and the gameplay that helped revive the adventure game genre.

While everyone is basically more or less going to get the same conclusion, the path to get there is made more personal based on the decisions you'll make. You shape who the playable character Lee becomes and form his relationships with the characters. You'll be put in moments of literal life and death decision making. Holding the tale together is the relationship you'll form with the character Clementine.

It's the type of tale that really sticks with you. I can't praise the story and characters enough. Everything has so many layers and you feel like you are interacting with real, complex people. The events you'll witness and directly participate in are brutal and dark. This is a very mature game in every sense of the word and a perfect example of how interactive stories should be handled.

The gameplay itself revolves around decision making, solving puzzles, and some quick-time combat sections. The puzzles themselves are usually very simplistic. The solutions are obvious, it's just a matter of finding the right item and using it in the right place. If you're looking for a real head-scratcher, this isn't it. However these puzzles are still enjoyable, and as the game progresses the combat takes on new forms to keep the action from getting stale.

This is a game that should be experienced for the story alone. You don't need to be a Walking Dead fan to enjoy it. You can come into this with no familiarity with the show or comics at all. It tells it's own, original story set in the comic book universe. The majority of the characters were created just for this game. You'll miss out on some fanservice and references, but there's no prior reading required.

The only difference between this Xbox One port and the other versions of the game is that this one has some more awkward facial animations. Dialog doesn't always sink up with the characters mouths and you'll notice things like Lee's new trait of sticking his bottom lip out when he's talking. Nothing too noticeable, so I won't let that detract from the score I've given the other ports.

It's just a masterpiece of a game. At least in the storytelling department. It stands as one of my favorite games of all time, and this marks the fourth time I've played. The replay value is incredibly high. Seeing how different decisions effect the story can keep you coming back, and even as many times as I've played it I still picked up on little details that make the whole thing even more exciting. Telltale did excellent work here and I honestly consider this a must play.

I had not played these games until this version. I had heard that they had an excellent story. I have to agree the story for the game was fantastic. I also enjoyed the graphic style of the game. I was generally surprised by the way the story characters responded to your actions and you can create different relationships with characters depending on how you treat them. The main story remains the same regardless of your choices but the details and relationships do not. Upon completion of the game, I found myself instantly wanting to go back in and play form beginning to end a second time making the exact opposite choices. I found this to be an excellent time and a great story and in the end I actually cared for a number of the characters. Expand

Having waited to play The Walking Dead games, I can't say I'm disappointed. Telltale games have done a great job in portraying the comic books in interactive form. By modern game standards, I guess you could argue that the control over the main protagonist is somewhat crude, and you'd be right. However that is not Telltale's strength, story telling and immersion are. No spoilersHaving waited to play The Walking Dead games, I can't say I'm disappointed. However that is not Telltale's strength, story telling and immersion are. No spoilers whatsoever, but there's some genuine chill here and some tough choices to make. The world, characters, dialogue, music and pacing all come together to provide the player with a sense investment that makes you quickly forget the not so great movement controls. Season 1 also comes with the excellent 400 days dlc, which bridges the gap between season 1 and 2. Highly recommended for anyone that likes storytelling, choices, zombies, interactive adventure games and of course fans of the comic book or tv show. Expand

For what this game is, it is absolutely fantastic. I could dwell on the lack of "true" gameplay and missing a real video game feel but that's not what this game tries to be and I don't think it should be penalized for it. This game is basically a choose your own adventure movie. And it's awesome. I had so much fun investigating everything, learning about the people in my survival group, making important decisions made surprisingly difficult by the way I grew to like certain characters. This is due to the absolutely fantastic character development. I completely cared about what happened to some of these people and would bend over backwards to help them. Others grate on you and the disagreements between you have an impact on events further on down the road. The story here is the big seller. It's incredible. It really is a roller coaster of emotions and by the end you feel like you've been through so much.
Moral of the story: this is a game with an obvious lack of depth in gameplay mechanics, skill, and strategy as it is more or less a point and click adventure. But it more than makes up for it with exceedingly well done character development (among the best I've ever seen) and an absolutely superb story.

Unfortunately, re-playing through the game a second time reveals that a lot of those choices you made were ultimately meaningless as the game will get your where it intends you to be no matter how or what you decide to do. Play one chapter.. If you like that, you will like the game.. but stop there.. try a second play through and you will only feel cheated and be disappointed.
