Can’t believe I just played this game now. Ninja Theory is absolutely awesome, and this games story was fantastic. The motion capture was also top notch for a 360 game. Ultimately it’s mostly a hack n slash game so if you enjoy those this should satisfy your need!

Vary touching game, that holds you to the ending. Sweet characters, chemistry in relationship and feeling personal emotions makes you like a part of this journey. Vary simple fighting part of gameplay and amount of parkour solve-puzzle situations, and character dialogues makes walkthrough fun just every given moment. Dear Ninja Theory, please give us a sequel!

What a great, overlooked and underrated game Enslaved is. A modern/futuristic twist inspired by Journey to the West, Enslaved is gorgeous, great mechanics with a lead character, (Monkey played by Andy Serkis), that drew you in. I hope that this game gets a HD remake one day.

This is one of those games that you will remember for a long time after you play it. Everything from the gameplay, graphics, character, story, etc, YOU WILL REMEMBER. (ok, maybe not everyone, but I will remember for sure though.) You will be controlling Monkey who mainly helps out Trip throughout their amazing journey.

There are light and heavy attacks, you can use to make your combos with monkey's staff. However, you need to strategically use a stagger attack and a stun attack in different situations to be able to get through the tougher battles in the game. There are a lot of jumping around and getting through obstacles. There isn't too much control of where you can choose to jump, but I enjoyed watching and controlling Monkey making his way around the environment. There are also a number of parts of the game where you have to get behind cover and take out mechs using your staff which can shoot plasma shots, which is fun also. Another big part of the game is helping trip and yourself get past obstacles with levers and platforms.

The story is amazing. However, I do not want to get too deep into it because I do not want to spoil anything. I will however say that the interactions between the characters and their relationships are very interesting and realistic through watching the cut scenes and from what they say during normal travel/battle.

The graphics are beautiful. There are detailed environments, accurate emotions from characters' facial features, etc.

Overall, this is one of the best action games I have ever played. It has the most excellent story for an action game. Usually only found in good RPGS. This is a must get! You just have to try it, and play to the end! The ending is so great!

Thank you for reading. If you enjoyed my review please add me and track me. I will write more.

Enslaved: Odyssey To The West is one of the big surprises for the Xbox 360. The story and characters are compelling and the comic look works fine! It has some technical flaws but the most important argument for this game is sheer fun!

Decided to try this game out after finding it on pretty much every gaming hidden gem video. The combat is fast-paced whilst also maintaining a tactical element. The story is flipping amazing. The characters are unique and complement each other very well. The climbing mechanic is almost flawless, very rarely did I find it not taking me where I wanted to jump next. I only have a few problems with the game.

The enemy variety isn't very large. You can really notice this when you run into the Dog bosses I think 2-3 times throughout the game. The standard MECHS are also repetitive.
The other issue is the ending. It was a pretty big "HUH?!" moment, which is a shame as the story was so strong until the conclusion of the game.

In Conclusion, this 'Underrated Gem' is well worth your time. Please, if you have a weekend of free time, PLAY THIS GAME. I'm hoping for a worthy sequel to continue the story of Monkey and Trip.

I love the story, and it honestly hurt when it ended because I didn't want it to stop. The fighting is fun, nothing too complex about it, or too simple. You still have to have some skill for it. Many fights you can avoid altogether using stealth. There are puzzles throughout it, and they aren't truly that difficult, once you find the trick to each one, it is just moving through it. Sound wise, musically it is perfect. The music is good, and fits the situations. The voice acting is nice, and definitely better than most. This isn't anything super exciting though. Not the game you sit at the edge of your seat often. Just sit back, relax, and fall in love with this beautiful game. 11/10 xD Expand

    Enslaved Odyssey to the west
    A grind that pays off
Enslaved tells the story of trip and monkey. The game starts out with the 2 of them escaping a slave ship, when they land, monkey finds that trip has put a device on his head to enslave or control him. If she dies, he dies, she wants help getting back to her home and feels this is the only way she can guarantee monkey will help her.

So they set off on a post apocalyptical adventure to take trip home
This game is a platform adventure game,
A very prince of Persia feel to it,
You spend most of the game traversing walls, and hopping across bars
with the occasional combat with mechs
The combat system is fairly simple with block, heavy attacks, light attacks, and blasters.
You can stun and shoot enemies, or just go hand to hand,
But again, combat is very few and far between,
This is mostly climbing and solving puzzles by communicating back and forth with Trip
The gameplay is pretty fun and addictive most of the way through the game,
I love the adventure as much as I loved the fluent and responsive platforming that never got too complex…
But it slowly becomes repetitive and the final 3rd of the game just becomes a flat out drag
The world goes from colorful and mysterious to gray, brown, and boring..
The only thing that kept me going was the story of Trip and Monkey, and I was so happy I followed through.
Its just a shame I felt like I had to force myself through the final hours.
If you love story you’ll love Enslaved, if you’re here for the gameplay, look elsewhere.
I give Enslaved Odyssey to The West

I finished the game on hard and it is damn tough! The combat isn't perhaps as fluid as we've grown accustomed to with Assassin's Creed and the Batman: Arkham series, but it's not without its merit and the various enemy types force you to rethink a failed strategy (time and time again sometimes on Hard :P)

Even in May 2013, the facial animation system is perhaps the best I've seen in a game yet. In Bioshock Infinite I read they gave Liz a comically oversized head to better 'portal emotion'. Trip in Enslaved needs no such rubbish!

Without getting into too much detail, this game is probably about $15-20 wherever you look (considering the parity with US and AUD presently) so pick it up and have some fun!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Romance is often an over-glamorized, over sexed subject in gaming. Female characters aren't depicted as nothing more, than mere sexed up promiscuous dolls than offer nothing more than eye candy. However, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West changes that. It's a game with a rich story, highly detailed and colorful environments, and a game that pays beautiful homage to Jak and Daxter on the PS2. It's a platforming game with lots of combat, adventure, wonderful characters, and a story that will leave you breathless. The games overall gameplay side, is a little dodgy, and rough at times, and sure the camera angles may get a little funky, but that doesn't go without saying that the story and the gameplay go hand in hand. It may not be perfect, but the game offers a whole lot more than just grinding to collect coins, and to get to the next platform. This is by far one of the only games that really has a secondary character that has depth. Somebody that you have to rely on, where you feel emotion for. I personally fell in love with my character, and by the end of the game I was heartbroken. This game made me feel anger, joy, frustration, love, and happiness. Many games can't do that. Simply, because romance and stories in other games just neglect the fact that romance can be a crucial element to telling rich stories. Enslaved, does that well, and the game itself is amazing. Probably, will be adding this game to my top 10 games of all time. Check it out! Expand

Gameplay wise Enslaved is rather simple fare, Taking inspiration from numerous other titles. Combat is very GOW where traversing the environments is straight out of Nathern Drakes handbook. Funnily I often thought the game had a hand from Naughty Dog which is a massive compliment to Ninja Theory. There's a few little set pieces that are very memorable but it does get slightly samey towards the end. ...But it's not the gameplay that'll have you coming back to this title time and time again. It's the story. Based loosely around an old Chinese tale it which plunges you head-long into the relationship between two polar opposite personalities who are inexplicably thrust together and bound to complete this memorable Journey.
