  1. Sound bugs and loading times mar an otherwise great translation of Warrior Within to a portable platform.
  2. Fails to transfix gamers as it should. The two flaws in the gameplay (camera and recurring streaming issues) really affect the level of enjoyment and betray the Prince of Persia franchise.

"Warrior Within" plus a few new levels. It looks cool, but playability is not the same it used to be. [Feb 2006]
  4. The thing is, it could have been a great one if only the developer hadn't assumed we'd all like lots more mindless hacking and slashing at the expense of some of the joyful exploring and leaping. [PSW]

If we had any choice we wouldn't have gone back. Add the loading times and this is best left well alone. [Apr 2006, p.97]
  6. With its bugs and glitches Revelations does not provide a perfect Prince of Persia experience, yet comes close, and offers a great portable game for those seeking a little action.
  7. The same incredible acrobatic moves and puzzles are included with this little bundle of joy, as is the story line that continues from the "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time."
  8. You'll probably want to pass on the PSP game if you've already had your fill of it on the PS2, since the content is mostly identical, but newcomers are encouraged to give it a try.
  9. Somewhere along the line there was a wholesale misunderstanding of what made Sands of Time good, and the result of the change in approach is a game that manages to be less likable in just about every single way.

While the scope and impressive design of the game remains intact, there's a myriad of technical issues that rob much of the enjoyment. Everything from the visual presentation down to the core gameplay has been adversely affected in the transition from consoles to a portable system.
  11. 60
We can't deny the appeal, even amongst the flaws, but when you're left imagining how much better a version of "Sands of Time" or "Two Thrones" would have been, it doesn't matter how faithful the port is.

The PSP version unfortunately doesn't have the polish and smooth gameplay of its predecessors and is hard to recommend, even to fans of the series.

Abundant faults make it impossible to recommend this over the original. Save your money and get "Warrior Within" second-hand on PS2 instead. [Feb 2006, p.98]

The biggest problem with Prince of Persia: Revelations is that it has no longevity once you've completed the admittedly lengthy adventure through once.
  15. Revelations is a slap dash port of Warrior Within with some new levels that are not all that original or exciting. The entire game is rife with audio bugs, slowdown, inopportune load times, subdued colors and occasional freeze ups.
  16. The fact that I can’t give you a numerical value for 'annoying game design', I’ll have to settle with saying this game is Not Recommended.

The inheritance of wearisome combat, embarrassing characterisation and impoverished audio now joins a bevy of PSP-specific issues... Revelations does succeed in living up to its name, but we’d hoped that such disappointments weren’t the surprise it had in store. [Feb 2006, p.93]

While Revelations adds a moderate amount of content to "Warrior Within", at its core it is essentially the same game. [Mar 2006, p.92]

Despite the name, this is Warrior Within squashed on a UMD disk. I say squashed because this really is a poor conversion of the excellent PS2 Despite the name, this is Warrior Within squashed on a UMD disk. I say squashed because this really is a poor conversion of the excellent PS2 game. The random loading is just inconsistent, the sound seems to only work at random intervals while camera control is very limited in certain levels. The constant loading also takes its toll on the battery. Its a shame these flaws undermine the quality of the game. The graphics are fantastic throughout. The platforming is sublimely acrobatic as ever while exploration and combat are better than ever. Sadly though the aforementioned flaws linger longest in the memory. Full Review »
