Loved it, didn't want it to end, highly recommend. The open world is easily one of the best I've had the pleasure of exploring. From the screenshots and videos I had seen I was not expecting it to look this good. This is the first open world game I have played on a new gen console and admittedly I wasn't blown away at first but there is a point early in the game where the map is opened up to you to explore and from that moment I was continually in awe of the view. At night you can stand at one side of the map and look at a mountain on the complete other side of the map and you can see every light as it flickers. I have not seen this level of detail before and it still amazes me. All that would mean nothing if the world wasn't fun to explore and the gameplay wasn't up there with the best and I can happily report that this is definitely the case. I enjoyed the story and found the characters interesting. Don't be turned off by people saying the humor in the story is bad or forced. I thought it added a lot to the game and struggle to see how it could be annoying as it doesn't happen often enough and when it does the writing is quite good. The combat remains fun throughout helped by the easy leveling up system. There should be enough RPG elements to keep the majority of RPG fans happy but it doesn't demand you spend a lot of time on that side of things. It ran nicely on the PS5. I played the first 15 minutes on graphics mode and then changed it and kept it on performance mode for the rest of my playthrough and can't remember noticing any performance issues.
If you like open world games do yourself a favor and play this game, you will not regret it.

They've structured the loot in such a way that you would expect from a free-to-play mmorpg. There are a handful of basic armor sets to collect in game from the content (randomly rewarded from chests), but ALL of the really cool looking gear is locked behind either microtransactions from the cash shop or very time consuming farming of in game currency that is time-gated and used for a different shop, that offers less to buy. Even worse, the stuff you can buy with in game currency is limited time only before it resets and offers new stuff, so it's very likely that even if you see something neat for sale you won't have the currency to get it. Still, there's nothing fun or cool about buying the best looking gear from a store. These should be rewards from solving the hardest puzzles or beating the toughest monsters!!!

Take all of the amazing loot in the shops and dump it into the game as loot collected from content and achievements and you have yourself one hell of a game to sink your teeth into. I can't imagine the excitement of earning all that cool stuff the way it should be in a single player game. As it stands now though, about 1/4 of the way into your playthrough you will realize nothing you find past that point will ever feel cool again as it's just reskins of the same boring armor sets over and over for the rest of the game. Meanwhile, you look at the cash shop and see stuff for sale that puts everything you can earn from completing the toughest puzzles or content in the game to shame. HORRIBLE game design for a single player game. You can't even show your gear off to other players in a hub or something? Why. Just why.

You guys ruined your game. This crap doesn't belong in a single player game, I just can't believe you are so focused on making an extra buck that you decided to turn a great single player rpg into a sleezy free to play microtransaction business model.

It could have been 10/10 if the 2 shops didn't exist and all the great loot was rewarded to you from exploring and completing content.

I have to heavily subtract from my score though since it felt like the last 3/4 of my playthrough the loot was uninteresting and not rewarding at all because of the shops. I would have gladly purchased the season pass if the shops didn't exist, but I'm not supporting this kind of monetization in a single player RPG.

0 bugs in a Ubi game? OMG! Beside that is a fun and amazing game. Maybe it has a lot of inspiration from Zelda but.. who cares? Is a good game with a wonderful world using the greek mithology. i want more of this Ubisoft, this is the way. (btw, i don't understand the trolling with the reviews, this deserve more than 9)

Before I start I should probably mention the glitches and crashes I had... At one point my PS5 crashed 3 times in the space of 5 hours, another part light attacks would stop landing and just clip through enemies until I reset the game, and again I had to reset the game when a specific challenge (Lyre) just vanished from the map, so I had to save near the location, reset and reload for itBefore I start I should probably mention the glitches and crashes I had... Immortals: Fenyx Rising is probably the most impressive and enjoyable game I have played by Ubisoft since Assassins Creed 2.

Many would see elements of Assassins Creed in this game but I mostly see a lot of elements from Breath of the Wild, the stamina bar climbing, swimming and jumping, the gliding, and the number of puzzles scattered around the world.

The world itself is a reasonable size and has very little open space that consist of nothing, so even though the map might not be as big as whichever game you want to compare it to, everything within the map is nicely packed in a reasonable distance so you don't feel like your traversing through empty space for minutes on end.
The visuals are stunning in 4k HDR, even though the character models themselves aren't the best, but the aesthetic design reminds me so much of Zelda mixed with Fable, and the way the controls feels also replicate these games also.

The story has it moments and really does a good job describing some greek gods/goddesses as well as basically slagging off Zeus' behaviour and the way he mistreated other gods/goddesses, however the dialogue can be pretty bad most the time, at times it seems designed for little children but the sexual innuendos and the vague jokes that of a young adult would get seems to make me think the game doesn't know what it's target audience is.

The absolute worse thing I can think of is how tedious some of the trophies are to get, as things stand I have 100% platinum trophy for this game and it took me 50 hours and 30 minutes (to the nearest minute) of game time, I think the game could be done in about 30-35 hours but I wanted to get all trophies as it was rated easy to obtain.
Now the platinum was easy to obtain but tedious as hell, some of the objectives I had to do ended up me googling a map as I didn't want to spend needless hours walking around looking for a specific monster or chest... At one point I needed to obtain a rare resource called golden amber, most easily obtained through normal chests (x3 from each chest), I ended the game still requiring 60+ amber to get one last trophy, so I had to start a new game+ just to reset the chests.

It was so tedious and annoying obtaining some of the collections and pretty much killed my gaming experience, I think a slight tweak to the script and more vigorous story as well as a better trophy setup I believe this game could have potentially hit the 8/10 mark.

Immortals Fenyx Rising is hands down the most pure, joyful FUN I have had with a video game in 2020, and maybe 2019 as well. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve played some great games in that span—some with tighter combat mechanics or a better story or deeper characters—but none that was more fun.

It’s Breath of the Wild meets Greek myth with an Aesthetic inspired by Studio Gibli and emotional undertones of an animated Disney film. The game is absolutely gorgeous. This is the kind of game where you want to walk/fly around just to feast your eyes. The music is, for the most part, pretty great too. It’s a joy just to be in this world, full monsters and myths and challenges and puzzles (so many puzzles—seriously, this game is a real puzzler). And after the prologue, it’s fully open, meaning you can play any way you want to. If you love the arrow challenges and fresco puzzles but hate the constellation puzzles, you can usually do what you like and skip what you don’t. What the world lacks up in size it makes up in density: around just about every corner is puzzle hiding some kind of reward, and you can engage that puzzle or not, for as long as you want. Or you can just go fight some monsters, or climb a mountain, fight an optional boss, collect power-up items and gear to strengthen your character, learn new godly powers… and maybe at some point proceed with the story.

The story is not the game’s strong point, and I don’t think it’s meant to be. After the prologue, I played for about 20 hours just exploring and having fun before I finally got back to the next main story quest. And I took lots of breaks from the main story after that too. I can’t help but feel that the game is meant to be paced this way. I played 70 hours total and finished with dozens of vaults and challenges still left incomplete. If you’re just rushing through the main story, you’re missing the game, IMHO.

Not that the main story is bad, exactly: Typhon, a Titan, is trying to take down the Greek Gods and you, the unlikely hero Fenyx, need to help restore some of them to power. It’s all kind of goofy and silly, sometimes genuinely funny, sometimes kind of cringey. The Gods themselves are larger than life, often oafish, and the game really emphasizes the way they all function as an extremely dysfunctional family. Fenyx, meanwhile, has a heart of gold. The occasional moment of mean-spirited humor aside, the story overall has the kind of relentless emotional earnestness that makes Disney movies a household name. Immortals Fenyx Rising lite fare as stories and characters go … but lite fare enables the overall tone of light-heartedness that pervades the game and adds to its joy.

There was only one big letdown for me, and that was the game’s final five hours or so. The game teases you with what looks like a giant mountain area that you can’t access until later on. Because the rest of the game was constituted by such excellent open world design, it’s easy to assume this final area will be a similar garden of treasures. Not so. It turns out the final area is a linear path with only one “right” way to go, and several mandatory puzzles. It has secrets and off-shoots along the way, but at the end of the day, there is only one way to climb that mountain. This marks a radical shift in game design that feels like a betrayal of everything that came before. Slogging up that mountain was not super-fun, and made the final vault, with its final round of mandatory puzzles, feel like more of a grind than it would have otherwise.

But the frustration of the linear endgame ultimately was not enough to tarnish the joy that this game brought me. I LOVED Immortals Fenyx Rising. Getting to sink into this world for a week after all the hardships of 2020 seriously felt like therapy for me. Like, I’m a better, happier person because of this game. And that is not something I say often. Thank you, Ubisoft, for giving us this gem.

I'm giving it a 5/10 mainly because it is a functioning game. I did not encounter any bugs and it ran well, but I did not enjoy playing it. Overall I cannot recommend this game unless you are looking for a more linear story-driven alternative to Breath of the Wild. There are so many better open-world games and if you're looking for a game with a humorous take on Greek Mythology, HADES is much more enjoyable in that regard.

I was not disappointed, this game was epic, I have sunk 80+ hours into it thus far with my current foray into New Game+ to grab all the loot I missed. Of course it borrows a lot of mechanics and story to a certain degree but it puts an original enough spin on that for it to feel fresh and less cumbersome. The battle mechanics are spot on with the tactical switch between your arsenal of weaponry so you can really play the game to your own playstyle, go in heavy and play to the stun or pick enemies off from a distance with controller arrows, too much fun was had with Apollo's arrows, that is for sure! I was certainly brought into the lore and the world with this one with the story arch, the narration was fun with lots of twists and turns which was great!

The puzzles were the highlight for me, reminded me a lot of the old Zelda puzzles modernized for the current generation, which I feel is a great thing. There were certainly a couple that had me almost reaching for the ol' google to assist with!

I am so excited to see the post-launch content they have lined up in the season pass. Next to my fascination of Greek Mythology is my love of the history of the far east so let's hope the calendar for release is not too far away!

Definitely recommended, one of my favourite games of the generation!

Fenyx clearly sets out to be a fun, light-hearted game, and to that end, it is succeeds. And despite feeling somewhat "safe" and not especially innovative, it avoids the formulaic feel typical of Ubisoft franchises. Performance and resolution are solid (60fps, dynamic 4k, HDR). And DualSense haptic/trigger support is pretty good too. Recommend.

El único punto a mejorar son las expresiones de los personajes sin embargo esto no afecta allá experiencia , 100% recomendado para ps5 y Ps4

An excellent game to bring the open-world RPG / puzzler genre some life on the PlayStation. Sadly, it is overshadowed by the requirement of an internet connection to play a single-player game due to the in-game store to buy skins. (Nothing wrong with selling skins for a SP game, just disappointed it's entirely required to be online to even play the game.)

Experienced a game breaking bug about 3 hours in where you get stuck on top of the observatory and can't progress. This is after throwing in the towel with AC Valhalla after 20 hours because of how broken it is. Ubisoft support are utterly useless. What a monumental waste of time.

This game is very underrated. Sure it borrowed visual and game mechanics from Breath of the Wild but people should also know that this game is quite a gem to play. The graphic's AMAZING, music's FANTASTIC and the gameplay's ADDICTIVE! This is clearly one of my top 3 games this year. A must play!

Weapons and armors dont feel of much impact to me. I chose one at the beginning and it carried me well. The rest is just for fashion. After all the game look beautiful, runs smooth and I encountered no bluescreens or bugs at all on my PS5. There seems to be an issue on old gen consoles with a specific puzzle type, not sure if that is still a thing after the recent patches. The devs are very consistent on that.

You will be busy for 20-30hrs on a playthrough and around 45-50hrs for completionist. Might wait for a small discount of 10-20% but the game is also worth full price in my opinion. I had lots of fun, the combat is ver good and the puzzle design are amazing. Would rebuy it any time for full price.

The narrative had many moments that made me chuckle and rarely did I travel far without something drawing my eye and taking me away from what I originally set out to do. The only thing that holds me back from a 10 is the somewhat repetitive enemies in each area. However, combat is top notch and just becomes more engaging with every upgrade and skill unlock. Definitely has a breath of the wild feel at times but I think it is more taking inspiration from it than thoughtless copy and paste. Some criticize the puzzles being too easy but I found them appropriate in most situations. Some I figured out instantly and some required a little thought but I never got frustrated or felt like they were too simple, the balance felt right for me. The characters are fun and entertaining and you can easily enjoy losing 40-50 hours to this game if you seek out all the skins and upgrade materials. I look forward to any DLC and will definitely be revisiting this game down the road. I Liked it so much I’m getting a copy as a gift for my daughter for Christmas! Highly recommend this for a light hearted and fun adventure. Expand

In it, you explore The Golden Isle, a deceptively large island absolutely jam packed with intricate puzzles and mythological creatures such as the Cyclops, Cerberus and Medusa. You take part in a story, creatively narrated throughout by Zeus and Prometheus, of a hero that sets out to save their brother and restore everyone who has been turned to stone.

The way the story is told may not be for everyone and some people might find it on the nose or cringey but it had me laughing throughout. The depictions of Gods are generally pretty funny, from Ares (the God of War) being a clucking chicken, to Zeus complaining about you doing sidequests when you should be focussing on him, even going so far as to trying to roll the credits when you finish the prologue. There's also this prevailing sense that throughout the story you have literally no control on where it will end up with things changing right in front of you depending on what Zeus and Prometheus are talking about at the time. And there are constant reminders that Prometheus and ultimately the writer controls what you do. The ending is a little messy and feels a little unsatisfying but doesn't stop the story from being one of the more fun stories I've played in a while. There is genuine heart in this story and it's evident that the creators put a tonne of effort into making the story engaging and full of different layers.

The gameplay is also incredibly fun. i started out mainly using the axe to stun enemies and beat them down slowly, but as I unlocked more Godly Powers that changed, so much so that in the final boss fight i was constantly in the air chaining sword, arrow, axe and bird combos together and feeling like a badass doing it.

The other major part of this game is the exploration; every corner of the map is filled with unique puzzles, each of which tell some sort of story through either the visuals or the task that you have to do. Whilst none of the puzzles are particularly challenging because they are so well designed, they do require you to think and assess the area. Traversal of the map is fun and while it looks like it might be similar to Zelda BOTW it doesn't feel really feel like that at all. By the end of the game which took me about 42 hours, I was left wanting more and immediately purchased the season pass which by the looks of it has 3 massive DLCs that I can't wait for.

Overall, the worst thing about Immortals: Fenyx Rising is that it was released a week before Cyberpunk and because of this a lot of people might miss it. I highly recommend you pick up this game!

A lot of hubbub from the online community is that this game is a Breath of the wild clone/rip-off. Yes this is another third-person open world adventure, and it is also set in a mythological setting. Its so far copied a decent chunk of games released in the past decade. Don't forget that Ubisoft just released Valhalla and Watch Dogs, this will mark the third open world adventure game, in only a few short months. There is a lot of complaints about this game, its almost like people don't have the consoles to play this game and don't want anyone else to experience it. Truth be told, this is a great game. I have yet to run into any frame drops, or notable loss of quality anywhere. The game is beautifully sculpted in every conseveable way. The story, told as you're progressing, told by Promethus to Zeus is as comedic as it is enticing. The pace of the game is fast and slow. Combat and movement is akin to Assassins Creed, but dumbed down, not much emphasis on stealth although that is an option. Progression in the game (unlocks) seem to come every mission, you'll feel stacked for battle within the first hour. Even after that attaining items doesn't feel like a chore and the puzzles some of the items are hidden behind do not take a degree to figure out, but may have you scratching your head for a moment. In true Ubisoft fashion there are locations on the map, and collectibles for you to find, these aren't required to beat the game but going for 100% completetion will require you to hunt these down. They're not as plentiful as they used to be, but will see you hunting for them none the less. If you want to think of it as a Zelda clone, do it, was Breath of the Wild a bad game? If its a clone there is no reason this game should recieve less than Breath of the Wild for a score. But I find it original and unique, while not a perfect game, it could easily eat up 20+ hours of your time, without making it feel like a chore. Expand

I’ve been playing the AC series since the beginning and this game has better combat than any of them. I have played Breath of the Wild and while I enjoyed it, there was almost too much to it. By comparison, this game is more focused and is more navigable than BOTW in my opinion.

Again, I will be biased with my love for Greek mythos, but I find the story entertaining and lighthearted, which I prefer in games (I prefer good gameplay over serious stories, it’s a game after all). Plus I love the banter between Prometheus and Zeus.

If you are a fan of exploitable open worlds with a lot to do and fantastic gameplay you will enjoy. This is the most enjoyable game I have played this year. You will not regret buying it and I really hope there is a sequel.

It is very hard to avoid comparing Immortals to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Despite obvious inspirations it is a typical Ubi-game with all its pros and cons, an inventory screen copied almost exactly from Assassin’s Creed, and a store with premium items. Anyhow, it’s Ubisoft’s most interesting game in years, definitely worth checking out for its satisfying exploration accompanied by simple combat and tons of good puzzles. [01/2021, p.62]

Ubisoft's open-world titles can invoke burnout towards their conclusion - crumbling under their own weight due to their size. Instead, this is a real palette cleanser. It feels like it hits that real sweet spot in the genre of the open-world adventure games. The world is large but enjoyable to explore, with just enough to do, and the constant commentary keeping things interesting. This combined with the genuinely funny and smart writing results in something that will be the big surprise hit for many.
