Gran Turismo 7 is the best GT game by far, BUT always online feature is killing the game. I have just lost 20 HOURS of progress (credits, mission, licences, cars, etc) because my PS5 updated while sleeping and GT somehow loaded the fridays state... I have never experienced something like this and I am not willing to spend other 20h again on the same content.

Solid game. But it needs many fixes like Rallye physics, quality of life improvements and the biggest issue: economy.

Great Franchise ruined by greed and stupidity. Ill start with the good: The physics are great in most care (more on this later). The graphics are great for a GT game. The sound, while not great, is far better than any previous game. The attention to tiny details in certain areas are amazing too, plenty of easter eggs to uncover. Amazing menu music Now the bad

The sound, while not great, is far better than any previous game. The attention to tiny details in certain areas are amazing too, plenty of easter eggs to uncover. Amazing menu music Now the bad

Dont buy the game expecting the typical GT issues to be fixed as they haven’t learned a single lesson from former mistakes. The online is just as bad as ever. The car count is fine but the number of new cars is almost zero, no 720s, no c8, dont make me list. Most popular sports cars from the last 5 years arent here. The race music is near identical of the previous game with the exception of maybe 5 songs? You still have 90% of races starting in 16th place rolling start with the leader half the track ahead. The AI is just as bad as ever or perhaps worse because they pit you for zero reason. Now the really bad

Microtransactions are fine as long as you dont tailor your $70 game around them…but they did this time. Every single car has seen a price increase (an s2000 is $100k) and payouts from races are TINY compared to previous games. The game is completely unfinished, half of the licenses arent even used in the “campaign”. There isnt a real campaign. Theres a stupid cafe system where you can finish in 3 days and thats with only a few hours played a day. PD is actively patching races with large payouts so players dont get money too fast. The number of courses is miniscule and dont include many courses featured in trailers. The physics for some rwd are completely wrong (ie 350z has snap oversteer like an s2000 with bad tires. These are both cars ive owned and tracked irl). There are many glitches, crashes and flat out errors that are getting worse with every patch (for the past week, tires on dozens of mission races and licenses have been bugged making the missions/licenses near impossible. TLDR: absolute mess of a game. An embarrassment for a 25th anniversary. Wait and I mean WAIT long to buy it, perhaps a year or more. Completely unlike the PD of old, but anyone with a brain could have seen this coming after the launch of GT 5 and GT sport. Those were just tests to see how little content they could getaways with and how gullible the fanbase was.

My internet speed tho, apparently you need good internet..didn't think i got the right game because of the mini game sound of music is vary much a requirement you need to complete at least one to unlock the actual game... I reset my PS like 3x before just muted the tv and did it.. With all the default settings ibgot silver no sound just holding the gas and steering.. The cars are beautiful but the crowd and backgrounds, they are hilariously bad unless they are in a cut sean. Licensing tests are brutal and probably the best part.. Every thing from then on focusing on collecting cars with its own xp to a raffle system that's super under welming and its down hill from there. a quest system from the "Cafe" that is what's controlling your way through the game and likewise the reason im probably not going to fully see the game because its just not worth it to grind out lots of these races. Definitely looks like a pay to play model is forming around this game.. Are the races difficult ya is that the result of new advance AI no probably not. They don't know your there most of the time and really like that racing line.. I have a feeling it's going to be a struggle to actually get past this tarrible starting for me before I can like it. Huge fan of the franchise and had sucker on my head when I jumped in with the collectors edition trusting that the product was good with out doing much research. Expand

Always online BS. Can’t even play offline during maintenance. Server went down for 12 hours but I can’t even play campaign mode. Spent $100 plus tax on this. No games should be forcing online only. Just go play Forza. Capping earned credits is also WILD. You're not getting any more of my money!

Sony and the developers went several steps too far with this inacceptable game concept. One point for good racing but the whole surrounding overshadows this by far. Forza 5 is the total opposite and very player friendly (Offline mode and also no Micro Transactions and good progress).

Money issue was fixed, but the penalty system, especially in sport mode is completely broken. I've gotten penalties for other drivers hitting me. And I still think that they need to improve the money in the game. Since day one they said you'll be able to ask cars and as of 05/12/2022 you still can't sell cars. There is still about is things in the game they need to fix

Never expect too much. Generally, it is a good game. However, the graphics of the surroundings is like ps3 graphics, particularly when you are comparing with horizon. There isn’t much cars, and are extremely hard to earn credits, especially after the 1.07 update. In general, a good game with horrible marketing and operating

They've sold their soul. Micro transaction cancer has ruined this game. Also annoyed by the lack of new tracks over GT Sport. The graphics are amazing, as is the attention to detail, so is the gameplay but the campaign is far too short and it's so daddy. Honestly, just buy GT Sport, it doesn't look as good but is 90% of the game without the annoying micro transactions.

Logged a lot of hours on GT3 A Spec with the official steering wheel. As I moved onto the PS3, I got a proper driving l seat along with the PC Logitech G25 Wheel, gear stick and pedal set. On PS4 this combo stopped working as they try pushing users to newer models. That said with the Drive Hub adapter it emulates newer wheels and works just like it did on PS3.

I got GT Sport late in the day due to poor reviews. I got like a year later and eBay, with all the updates thought it was great. I got GT 7 on launch after discounts cost me about £52 not £70. I got the PS4 and paid the £10 upgrade so I can play on both consoles.

GT7 is a great game and a big step up from GT Sport. A much more complete game. As I'm using a wheel I can't really comment on how well it plays with the dual sense. But with a proper wheel, especially a seat it's amazing.

I response to all the crazy feedback in the "news cycle the past week" and users scores of 0. What a massive over reaction.

I never spend real money on micro transactions, I'm cheap and it's kinda cheating anyway. I've amassed ~35 cars so far. Think I'm on menu book 18 or so. I'm enjoying "the grind" learning the game etc, building up to the faster more expensive cars.

So I admit I wasn't affected by the servers being offline for 30 hours. I'd not played for a good few days due to work. But this down time is not on the same league as Cyberpunk being a buggy mess. Or Halo missing half of the normal features.

On patch 1.07/1.08... maybe they were encouraging those that can't wait to spend real money... Maybe they were trying to balance the game? Maybe I'm not the target audience that was affected by the changes.

Some people are upset that they paid £70 for a full game and therefore expect access to all the content day 1.
In my view you get the rare cars for putting the effort in. Who really needs to drive every single car. Looking at my gt7 stats page on the web: Since launch I've logged in 7 days but only had time for 4 proper sessions of just under 2 hours each. I've earned 461,00p credits, driven 439km. I have kids so don't have much time to play / watch them play.

I recently unlocked split screen multiplayer that you mentioned, but I'm playing through the cafe books. I also have access to online, but I'm too cheap to pay for PSN, so only special free weekends for me. I've nearly finished collector level 9. I own 6% of the cars.

I'm on level 22 and completed 34% of the campaign. I've never bought a car and have 1,500,000 credits. I only by cars or tuning if I don't meet entry requirements or can't beat a race. It seems like you earn credits more easily in GT7. For me I'll be playing this game on and off for years.

Some of the graphics continue to surprise me. I played a night to day race the other day, really like how the headlights reflect all over your car interior. When driving I really don't miss the proper ray tracing. The approximated equivalents look pretty damn convincing. I'd much rather have the 60fps, with the cinematic 30fps and ray tracing during menus and replays.

I know mandatory online could be a problem for some. GT Sport for PS4 had the same thing. Luckily for me I have fast broadband so no online issues. If you were online I guess you can play music rally. I understand the requirement to avoid hacking, fake race times etc which would be a bigger concern.

The benefit of online to me is that all my progress is in the cloud and I can switch between consoles and just carry on. I think PSN has a similar feature (Cloud Save), but I don't subscribe to that (no online racing for me)
But the unique thing here is I can switch between PS4 and PS5 and back to PS4 no problem. Handy as my driving seat and rig is generally hooked up to my old PS4, with the PS5 downstairs for the kids.

    2. Online Only (0/10): This is my main issue, you are required to be online all the time in order to progress trough the game, now, this wouldn't be so much of an issue if the servers were stable but lo and behold.. they are not. I can't count how many times I was forced to repeat a race from the cafe because I would lose connection to the server (mostly at the very end of the race). This is extremely frustrating. Please make the game offline for the single player part.

    3. Microtransactions (5/10): I'm giving this section a 5 because I hate the microtransaction system in general in any game. But - from my experience this one isn't that bad. So far I was never really cornered into even thinking about buying in game credits with real money, I'm not that far into the game and yet I get a decent credit reward with each race and I am able to upgrade my cars and end up 1st in every race. I am tho worried about the reward reduction on those 16 races.

I really hope PD will listen to the players and sort out these issues, again, the gameplay aspect is terrific and it would be a shame to see this game fail because of the aforementioned

Am I playing the PS original? Because GT7 certainly doesn’t feel new. The only thing worse than the PS5 is the Xbox series X! There’s a reason the Switch (much less powerful) system is winning the gaming war. Great games! Classic games upgraded to make them instantly familiar, but more advanced. PS and Xbox should be embarrassed.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Gran Turismo used to be a game where you can play whenever you want on disc and enjoy. Now if you live without internet, you cannot play. Creators tried to go for the realism simulation vibe, which makes sense for vehicle prices, as far as earnings go, you complete 3 races, you get a wheelspin. Couldn't be farther from it's own game, they had to take the forza wheels pin and add it in so all the 10 year olds love it. The entire fan base of today, which consists of past as well as present, are very disappointed with the route the game developers took, as far as creation goes, there's nothing that can be done to save this abhorrent excuse of a racing game. In fact, all one is really doing is one's best as a hot lap while navigating through meaningless automotive obstructions that are essentially trains on rails, disguised as cars, that will continuously spin you out, ignore the blue flag, and miraculously get faster as one approaches 1st place. I believe enough has been said about the micro-transactions, but I do have one observation: If this company "wanted cars to reflect their real world value", why the f*** can one not sell cars they don't want to get the ones they do? Would that not be reflective of "the real world" as well? Such shameless profiteering has been the downfall of many franchises in all aspects of business and art, and it pains me that a title I have enjoyed for half of my life has been corrupted by this kind of unethical capitalism. It seems that motives are so driven by quarterly profits, that they can't see the long term money they could garner from providing a game that was just damn good, and not driven by micro-transactions, but by the words and recommendations of a rabidly passionate and longstanding fan base that has eagerly awaited its release. The most disgusting thing was the bait-and-switch, post-review re-balance of the in-game economy. We've seen this before, right? Went down really well there too...
S&P, if you think people don't notice this, you are sorely mistaken. They do, and they HATE it because not only is it a horrible way to treat long-time customers, it's also deceptive. Shame.

If you care about your fans and want to do right by them (GT fans have to be the most patient in the industry, let's be honest) you will remove this anti-consumer **** from your game.

Honestly Sony, with the streak you have been on over the last decade, this is shocking and disappointing to say the least...

So, the day you (Polyphony) apologise and act to course-correct this new direction by removing exploitative mechanics from this game is the day I make a purchase. Frankly, Sony needs to make a clear statement of regret also.

I know you read these reviews S&P, so with feedback this overwhelming, if you fail to act I will permanently boycott your future products. I encourage others reading to do so too, as its about all we as consumers can do to be heard.
Maybe one day you will learn that the means to maximise profits in this way is wrong. As such, at this point in time, you don't deserve any money.
