Also the number of cars isn’t that impressive and even worst many of them are VGTs, which are mostly made up prototypes, so are quite pointless.
Then there’s the Café dialogs in Pokémon style subtitles. They couldn’t do a lazier job there!
I can look past the always-online requirement though. as it allows for some cool features such as the friends time board - I don’t even look at the golden time, the most important thing is to do it even quicker than my friends!
As a fan of this series since the first GT, it saddens me to say that if they keep up this imbalance between race rewards and cost of cars and upgrades (the prices are just ridiculous!) while pushing to sell you credits, where the player is always struggling to buy the next car or upgrade it, despite the awesome drivability and graphics, GT7 is a game to play for a little while and then forget about it. It’s not worth the grind!

Cmon seriously sony you have so much money but you put microtransactions and require always online for the game.

Microtransactions: 1 car for 50$ like who does that
Always online required, so it means that i wont be able to play the game in 10 years.

You were better in early ps4 days.

I love Gran Turismo and I’ve been waiting years for this game, I finally got it and it saddened me that the game is heavy on micro transactions, you pretty much need to spend close to $40 dlls to get one of the best cars in the game, I could farm credits but SONY just decreased the amount of credits given per race making it close to impossible to get some of the limited time offers to get legendary cars. Sony fix this I already paid $90 for this game then I get treated like this?

Also another huge issue is that you have to be online always to play this game, then why I paid for the disc???? Servers went down for more than 24hrs!!! Why? How come I cannot play offline while the server issue gets fixed?

Sony is dropping the ball big time with GT7 and at this point I don’t recommend this game to anyone.

Outrageous push to buy microtransactions. Does Yamauchi expect us to play his game 24/7. There is no long term vision that I see coming. If he wants to curate the GT experience to this point, remove ALL microtransactions and then he will have a foot to stand on. I paid the full price of 80 Euros on PSN to support this game and I now regret it. This is just a greedy cash grab.

Always online DRM also means no game preservation 20 years down the line. We need Polyphony to promise an off line mode once the servers shut down.
The driving physics when the car jumps in off road races are also very unrealistic and the game preventing cars from rolling over also adds to the sense of unrealism.

On-line requirement for single player mode and the insane push towards micro transactions completely destroys this game, no matter how pretty it is. It has, to my knowledge, the worst in-game economy there ever was, and that's in a game focused on the off-line single player campaign, and sold at a full retail price. Disgusting.

    Pro:
    The game looks amazing.
    Runs amazing.
There are many cars to collect.
This game is packed with features to enjoy.
Feels much like old game series with buying upgrades. and taking care of your cars.

    Cons:
The physics seems spot-on for some cars, but for other like low cheap cars, I feel like I'm driving on ice, for example, the 500 Fiat race, the car's max speed is 55 mph and the turns are very large the car is just skating across the road as if my tires are made of plastic. It leads me to think that they build this game more towards the end game with racecars.

It does have a pay-to-win feature that is never accepted by the gaming community. This feature can take away that magic of the made the game feel so rewarding in prior versions which is earning your car through the grind.

Gran Turismo 7 in a nutshell: Pure frustration and disappointment. Grind. Scrapping for money. Free-to-play mechanics for a premium AAA game. Unattainable cars and un-winnable races. A pre-pandemic car list. But at least it's pretty.

TL;DR: Save yourself the CR70 and don't feel bad walking away from the franchise forever.

I'm a game developer. Specifically, I'm a developer of racing games. Which is to say, I know my way around the genre and this franchise. And to be clear, I've been playing Gran Turismo since it's first version back on the original PlayStation.

I don't know what happened along the way, but somehow Polyphony lost its way. In pursuit of being "the REAL driving simulator," they turned it into a life simulator with free-to-play and RNG-driven structures that lead to frustration and disappointment. It's just as unattainable to be "rich" in the game as it is in real life. Want to earn enough to buy that aspirational supercar? Strap in. it's going to take literally hundreds of races.

At the heart of the problem is an anemic payout system. Roughly speaking, a steady pace is CR100k per 10 minutes of race-winning laps. I haven't done the exact math, but it seems like GT7 pays out at a third or less of that rate. Can you sell a car to make some money back? No. Can you test drive a car before buying it? No. Can you make catastrophic purchase decisions? Absolutely. And there's not a thing you can do about it except put in another hour or two of racing to make that money back.

Then there's the RNG-driven features like the lottery tickets (loot boxes in ticket form) and the card shuffle. Inevitably, they'll dangle an okay or even a great car or prize in front of you, but their RNG (which hardly feels random at all) will inevitably give you the lowest or second-lowest payout. A Porche or a CR5k coin stack? Coin stack almost every time. An invitation to buy a ferrari? Great. It's still unaffordable by any reasonable standard in the game's economy. Here are two great cars and a **** one. The card flip will give you the **** one every time. Even if these features are truly randomized, by leaning so heavily on them in their unlock structure, Polyphony are setting you up for disappointment and frustration 66-80% of the time. This leads to anger. Which leads to rage-quitting.

Staying on frustrating for a moment, the way they put you at the back of the pack at the start of every race is beyond frustrating. I miss the days when GT had qualifying. This let you practice, and improve your chances of winning a race if you put in the time. Instead, you must pass a dozen or so cars every race, no matter what. The race leader meanwhile can sometimes start two or even three turns ahead of you. At Daytona, for example: by the time you cross the start line, the leaders are already into the first infield hairpin on the road track. This means you're overcoming a 30-second+ deficit with every race. If you don't tune your car up, good luck catching up.

Then there's the car list. I've yet to find a real car in the game more recent than 2019. It's very much as if the car list was locked at the beginning of the pandemic. Want a Corvette C8? No dice. AM Valkyrie? Nope. Porche 992 GT3? Most recent one is a 2016 991. The list goes on and on and on and isn't that deep to begin withonce you get realize they've once again padded their car list dozens and dozens of racing "variants" that only have different liveries.

My biggest grief--and one that very much plays into the nerfed economy and frustrating game unlocks--is the fact that it is nearly imposible to win a race without tuning your car. And because the tuning shop offers almost nothing in the way of guidance beyond some generic description of the part and vague references to what it might do for you performance-wise, and because many of the changes you make to your care are permanent (e.g. weight reduction, engine mods, etc.), you can easily drop double your car's original worth and end up with a useless, underivable backmarker. CR26k for tunable shocks? CR36k for racing softs? CR50k of weight reductions to drop a couple hundred kilos? I just want to win this stupid series that requires one of two pickup trucks in the game, not create a track day racing supertruck that I'll drive three times and never look at again.

Racing simulators should be wish-fulfillment at its heart. If I put in the time, win the races, and make smart decisions, I should be able to fill out my aspirational garage. Instead, GT7 frustrates you at almost every step along the way, so you quit the game that you paid $70 for long before you attain those dream cars.

Bottom line, I've yet to walk away from a play session without feeling frustration and disappointment. I'm done with this franchise.
