Microtransactions beware. Bought the game at full price at launch after the press reviews. Sony revealed the MTX after launch and totally designed the ingame economy to push MTX. The scam has been pushed further after 1.07, they went above and beyond and reduced the already low prize payouts. You can’t even sell your own cars for money. Delay your buy until Sony fixes their game.

Sony / Polyphony Digital have gone the way of EA etc with anti-consumer decisions.

It already took much longer than previous GT titles to earn enough credits to pay for many vehicles, but I guess sales of the heavily pushed micro transactions weren’t as high as they’d expected, so they nerfed the reward amounts on the most popularly farmed races in the latest update. Speaking of updates, whenever an update is released, the servers require patching first. This means you can’t play the game because of its “always online” requirement. Yes, you can’t even work on your license tests while the server is down. There’s supposedly some arcade races and the “music rally” tracks, but I never was even given the option to play them as my game refused to go into “offline mode” choosing only to throw up errors about how it couldn’t connect to the server.

    Shame on PlayStation
    Shame on Polyphony Digital
    Shame on Kazunori Yamauchi

Also, the AI sucks, so all the “story mode” races are rolling starts, where you just have to chase down the moronically driven AI car in first place from their 20-35 second head start.

Can't rate it any higher than zero when I can't actually play the game I paid for just over a week ago. A frustrating mess that I would definitely avoid.

A beautiful game spoiled by shady MTX practices. They already made it more of a grind post launch with the latest patch and it was already a grind fest before that. I’m not sure how PD didn’t get called out by all the reviewers but this is just not acceptable for a $80 game.

The roulette system is broken. The AI is horrible. Rolling single line starts where you start over 40 seconds

Rolling single line starts where you start over 40 seconds behind? Yup, it’s needed because the AI isn’t very good. It can be fun but the campaign needs more actual racing with grid starts.

Now tack on the always online requirement and the fact that the game has been unplayable for almost 24 hours…

    Community engagement is non-existent.

They need to do a complete 180 on this one.

Registered an account just to warn against purchasing this game. A week in, and the unnecessary “online requirement” has resulted in the game being unplayable for more than 12 hours due to “unexpected server maintenance” . On top of that, the patch they were implementing cuts the currency rewards for racing — in a brazen attempt to push you to purchase micro transaction money. This was after the game was already pushing you to buy micro transactions at every opportunity. I was fooled — the micro-transactions weren’t in the review copies of the game. Those reviewers felt the reward amounts for racing were fair. Now, a week later, those rewards have been slashed in half to coerce players into giving Sony more cash. Shocking and unacceptable conduct. Considering selling my PS5, no longer interested in Sony games if this is how they treat their customers. Make it right. Expand

Always online BS. Can’t even play offline during maintenance. Server went down for 12 hours but I can’t even play campaign mode. Spent $100 plus tax on this. No games should be forcing online only. Just go play Forza. Capping earned credits is also WILD. You're not getting any more of my money!

So disappointed. Requires ps plus subscription for single player.

Used car dealership sounds like a good idea but it really doesn't work with so little cars on offer. If you want any of the hero 90s jdm cars or any muscle cars you need to wait until Polyphony decides its time to put them on the market.

A great game, ruined by greed. Clearly with the recent changes, the intention is pushing players towards micro transactions as the only possible way to purchase the most desirable cars in the game. After players paying U$69 - U$89 depending on game edition, you wouldn’t expect to be nickled and dimed for the ability to get cars and tune them to be more competitive. Horrible… they make it such a hassle to gain money in the game. Micro transactions are a huge turn off especially given how expensive the cars are.

The fact how obvious it is that they are pushing for mirco transactions is sad. To unlock everything, you'll need over 300 million credits, which is 2340 hours by there count. If you consider that you grind 50% and do 50% other stuff, you get 4680 hours. That's 6.4 hours a day, 2 years straight.

The game looks beautiful, but the microtransactions, lack of single player content after menus are completed, and online requirement show Polyphony has lost its way and sold out.

A thinly veiled cash grab. This last time this series was great was on PS1, it is now nothing but a pretty coating, covering what is simply a mechanism to try to get its fans to spend a lot of money on virtual cars.
The single player experience is non existent, at time of writing the servers have been down for over a day, locking the game.
Luckily other companies are making better games

Luckily other companies are making better games without the crass monetisation, support those. Many people bought a PS5 (which are extremely hard to find) for this game and yet they are treated with contempt by Polyphony Digital. At the moment, the world is seeing rises in every day, essential costs (such as food and power) far beyond wage increases, people play games to escape and yet GT7 refuses to let you. I can’t afford a Ferrari in real life, now I can’t afford one in a game either……

Imagine my surprise when I paid $90 to pre-order the 25th anniversary edition of GT7, foolishly expecting I'd receive a work of art I could fall in love with all over again like the earlier versions, only to discover that it's now nothing more than a thinly veiled con to swindle unsuspecting, avid fans and supporters out of their hard earned cash. I'm not sure if it's PD or Sony that's ruined this game for me and countless others, but you should ask be ashamed.

You didn't even have to try for us to have loved GT7. We all wanted to love IT. You just had to do the absolute minimum. Instead you went out of your way to lure us in with trailers and hype and scooped us all up in your net of lies.

Nerfing the payout for races to kill the grind, LYING about being able to sell our cars, even doubles and triples of the same car, creating fake scarcity for car supply to induce fomo, the god awful gacha roulette which doesn't even pretend to be remotely randomized...all for what? That's right, to see how many people say "screw it, I really want this $20 mill credit Ferrari and don't want to complete 400 races to buy it, let me get my credit card." Because getting $70+ from each of us wasn't enough. And thanks to your forced always online game mechanic, which serves literally no purpose, I got to spend my one day off this week staring at a black screen informing me your servers are down. I'm assuming you're beefing them up for the influx of chash deposits your expecting after update 1.07.

To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement. To say I'll ever buy another Gran Turismo game ever again would be a lie. I hope it was worth it. Good luck s̵t̵e̵a̵l̵i̵n̵g̵ making a ton of money from this one.

Good graphics can’t save this game from predatory micro transactions and the always online requirement.

It will take you 300+ hours to grind enough credits to purchase one high end car (about $120 USD worth of micro transaction cash). And when the servers go down you’re SOL.

Save your money. Do not support Sony’s anti consumer behaviour.

It’s really scummy of Polyphony to make changes to the amount of credits being given for races when they also sell in game money. It’s just as scummy that they made the game have to connect online and then the servers are done for most of a day. Polyphony and Sony are going to lose customers and likely sales of future GT games due to their lack of awareness that gamers don’t want either!

Today, in order to let players spend money and change the income of the game, who knows if you will cut other players’ content for other interests later.

A game that loses the player's trust is not worth playing at all, and there is no remorse after this disgusting practice, arrogant and self-righteous

    A on-line single game?
Update 1.07, the server was closed and with limited game mode to play.
If the server closed in future, is that mean I can't play this full game after I paid $70?

Game has a stupid roulette wheel to issue prizes that almost always gives the weakest prize.

    Can't sell cars.

Piss poor communication from the developer when their maintenance went sideways and the game was down for nearly 1.5 days.

This is the new EA for tone deaf attempts at monetizing. Will never support this company again.

Gran Turismo 7 has a lot of good and plenty of great. The use of DualSense and the particularly well-tuned loading is exemplary, and there's a huge amount of work behind the game, with a lot of detail that's almost hard to believe at times. [Issue#318]

Gran Turismo 7 brings to the tracks every single thing fans always wanted: the GT Mode everyone loves, plenty of customization options, car loads, classic scenarios and one of the best DualSense and 3D Audio experiences the PS5 has to offer. This is the best Gran Turismo experience we have ever seen in a long time.

Gran Turismo 7 is a love letter to motorsport history and an impeccable technical showcase. The franchise's traditional formula gets good improvements, but it's still extremely true to its roots. One of the best racing series ever shines spectacularly on the PS5.
