You know. It's a shame. I was singing this games praise to anyone that would listen for the first 2 weeks. It was great. Played well (sure the always online part isn't ideal) I thought for my money it was as close to the originals(1 and 2) as it had been. Hit me with that nostalgic feeling while also feeling like a true next Gen.

Then the update hit. Down for 30 hours, because it's always online made the game literally unplayable. Then all the payouts were reduced? Cars more expensive? Oh yeah I can spend real money to buy them. F that! Microtransactions killed this game imo. Only reason I gave it a 1 is because I enjoy the game play. Otherwise I won't spend another dime on this franchise.

The worst excuse for a $70 racing game ever! I really can't believe what Sony has done to the community by releasing this garbage. It's almost like they released it unfinished and plan to add more races later through dlc. The driving physics are good but the cost to buy cars and upgrade
them will take forever. I am do e with Sony. Forza motorsport here I co.e.

Wow, is all I can say, I pre-ordered this game trusting in PD and Sony after years of enjoying GT from GT1-6 and even Sport. I thought $70 was a lot but that I would be rewarded. I thought $70 was a lot but that I would be rewarded. I poured hours into the game over the first week and was moderately annoyed at the roulette wheel, but could live with it. Little did I know this was an online only pay to win game. I would never have bought it for that price. As soon as the server was cut I could not play the single player game (it makes me sick to my stomach that I wasted money on this, I could play that stupid real racing 3 on my phone for free if I wanted that experience). Then I find out they are nerfing the already low payouts for races, not to mention used cars like the GT-R from the mid nineties going for $369000 (that is just insane). The prizes for winning were still pinned to 1998, but the cost of the cars pinned to some insane currently inflated price tag, and then they cut it in half. That is just nuts.

Sony and PD, why on earth would I even turn the game on again at this point. I haven't, it has sat unplayed for almost a week now on this news. I can't even understand the calculus behind the decision, unless it is just pure greed, again if I wanted to play a game like that I could just play that stupid mobile game real racing 3. I have no interest in F2P, and I certainly feel ripped off right now. I am angry that I even invested in a wheel and pedals to play this game and then this happened. What a bait and switch, what poor practice, what poor handling. I hope this game score hits 0.0 and lives in infamy for how to poorly handle your most loyal customers. Because what you are doing is sticking your thumb in the eye of the people who cared most about your system and your game. GT7 is the reason a lot of people even chose PS5 over Xbox SX... Well it used to be, it probably will be a reason people choose to not return now. Seriously, if I was in your shoes I would be fixing this today, not tomorrow, not next week, not in a month, today. Because, quite frankly, the damage you are doing to your reputation and the rep of this series is pretty close to irreversible.

I hope you read these reviews, a lot of people are upset, and it is because you changed the fundamentals of a solid game into a cash cow for milking. Treating your customers with disrespect by breaking the game and MTX is always a way to lose money and support.

And yet "We would really appreciate if everyone could watch over the growth of Gran Turismo 7 from a somewhat longer term point of view". What we'd appreciate is a game where a significant amount of the content isn't being locked behind the gate of "money, please", a game where we don't have to rely on your ability (or lack thereof) to keep the servers running after releasing an update that is designed to force more spending because players found a halfway decent race payout that doesn't make us excessively grind for money to buy overpriced cars. I spent $90 on the 25th anniversary edition because I was genuinely excited to return to the racing franchise that I grew up playing since PS1. In return I received a game that is designed to just take more of my money and the response of "please just wait while we figure out just how much we can get away with so you all will stop complaining". What an insult. Never before now would I have thought Sony/PD should be in the running for "worst company of the year". Expand

Well, you bought the game and all the content is on that disc or on your hard drive or SSD, but then the most impossible thing happen, you have internet but the servers of the game are down or in maintenance and you can't play YOUR GAME. This happened to all of us, but before it happened to me I tried to disconnect the internet and just try the game to see what happened, I was shocked, you can't do anything at all! All you can is play the arcade mode while the whole game keeps asking for internet, you will not have access to the cars you unlocked, not even if you want to know a bit more about the car in the arcade mode.
To resume this story, I bought it and sold after a 2 days, even before the great disaster occoured, and I'm glad I did.

Gran Turismo 7 has a lot of good and plenty of great. The use of DualSense and the particularly well-tuned loading is exemplary, and there's a huge amount of work behind the game, with a lot of detail that's almost hard to believe at times. [Issue#318]
