I deeply regret throwing money down the throat of this greedy company. It is a pity that there is no consumer protection that prohibits such disgusting business practices. I hope they choke on the micro transaction money while they get drunk on champagne on their yacht.

This game sucks….. this doesn’t work at all. It’s a shame how they can make a good franchise into a terrible game.

There are many things I like in this game, I finished all licenses, cafe and missions on gold medals, there is good sountrack and I generally enjoyed the game, but what I do not enjoy is that that after I finished all things I mentioned above, my balance is 350k credits. Why? Because for every stupid race I have to tune my car, buy many types of tyres and it costs so much money. For completing 24 minutes long le mans race with the strongest and extremely expensive Group C cars you get 5000 credits as reward? Really? Guys you will not see a single penny from me. I am done with this crap. I was always a fan of the series. I've been playing it since the very beginning in 1997. I had high hopes....but now I'm really done praising PD (you can go check my old GT6 review, I loved that game).
I give GT7 a 0/10. That's it, it's just outrageous, especially with the latest so-called "update" that instead of tripling the payouts, it cuts them.

Total lack of content, a lot of extremely annoying things.. the simulation and feel is excellent, just everything they built around it is awful - give us a game! And not months after release, unless you want my money months after the purchase.

An P2W game with F2P mechanics and an AAA price. I bought the console, a wheel and the game and now i'm so disappointed that everything is collecting dust.

Polyphony have been shambolic over the last 24 hours, in which time they have undergone a 2-hr maintenance period, which has been extended for an unknown duration, meaning you basically can't play the game at all (don't even mention the lame mode that does still work). They have failed to update their customers during this period which is simply not acceptable.

This game is a full-priced one, yet they are treating it like they've used an F2P model. Congratulations on getting a step closer to becoming EA.

More micro transactions and greed from an already expensive game. What a crock. Guess what I’ll never do again… buy from polyphony. No way I’m playing a penny in transactions. They can go … themselves. As for the game- flawed would be the kind way to put it. If you're reading this and haven't bought it yet, think of how crap ea are worth fifa and make it ten times worse.

Was really looking forward to this game. I didn't expect micro transactions to play such a big role. And the mini roulette game should require an "Adult" ES-RB rating. I am going to put the game aside until those micro-transactions are removed. I paid 80 EUR for this and am not willing to invest one more cent to support micro-transactions. Definitely my last pre-order for Polyphony Digital games.

Gameplay great but no-one should accept the DRM nonsense and online requirements for what is basically a single player racing game for the majority of a user's experience. This is a slippery slope if we accept these kind of practices without protest. For that reason I have to add my voice and zero score to the understandable 'review bombing' that is happening here.

Good game ruined by online DRM and microtransaction system which, for example, prevents you from selling any car. For me it's unacceptable in a single player game. It's also disgusting that they introduced microtransactions AFTER reviews - as a GT fan I'm deeply wounded.

The game is designed like a cash grab phone game with horribly slow progression. They weren't bilking the players for enough money so they slashed the race rewards to try and force players to spend more.

Morally bankrupt business practices is a nice way of putting it.

I would think it wouldn't be too hard to make a decent racing game but apparently in the case of Polyphony Digital that is not so. GT is more like an expensive brand-name product like a Gucci handbag that has poor quality seams and cheap zippers but you buy it because it has the brand. It has Japanese weirdness through and through it and in the worst ways. There are far better racing games without the GT moniker. Expand

There is no other way of playing this game than doing what some text messages (no audio!) say. You have to be a collector and your collection will be dictated by an npc. You dont care about letting great cars rot in a garage and wanna focus on motor racing instead? Well, bad luck. Matchmaking takes years, no real penalties, UI is horrible (has been great in GT Sports), lobbies cant start races, people divebomb to hell and get no penalties.
After a race, there are six screens you need to hammer the X button through before you can actually do what you want.

This game is a absolute failure.

Not joking: The first patch added some more music.

Edited after a few months: The next 3 patches are in. The BOP is still completely screwed up. Lobbies still dont work and settings there cant be saved. Payouts are a bit higher but you still cant sell cars. But PD is starting the GT World Series now, so they clearly dont give a sh*t about these issues.

EDITED FOR CURRENT STATE OF THE GAME. This game isn't getting "review bombed", it's getting accurate criticism. After the initial drama over the updates and the minor changes we got to the game, there was a brief period of optimism that the game would get better. Unfortunately it hasn't. Is it easier to grind for credits to buy the cars you want now? Yes. But there's still nothingEDITED FOR CURRENT STATE OF THE GAME. This game isn't getting "review bombed", it's getting accurate criticism. After the initial drama over the updates and the minor changes we got to the game, there was a brief period of optimism that the game would get better. Unfortunately it hasn't. Is it easier to grind for credits to buy the cars you want now? Yes. But there's still nothing much to do in the game. PD sent out their apology and made a bunch of promises after the initial backlash, but we've heard nothing since. Their last message to the players was that we were getting a bunch of stuff added including "new course layouts" before the end of April, and all we got was a single change to the pits at Spa. They haven't said anything since. So much for the optimism.

The more you try to play this game, the worse it gets. There's only 3 races with decent rewards, so if you want to get the expensive cars you end up on a mindless grind. Defenders of the game will tell you that the new rewards for getting gold on all the circuits will give you a ton of credits, but the cars in the legends dealership are so expensive that if you gold literally everything that's still not enough to buy even 3 of the high end cars, and those rewards can only be earned once. Also, the cars rotate so slowly in the legend dealership that if you can't afford a car it'll be at least 2 months before you ever see it again.

The roulette ticket system is horribly broken (there's plenty of videos about that on YouTube if you want to know more). I've done the daily workout for 50 straight days, and 47 times I got either the lowest money reward possible, a useless part for a car I already own, or an invitation to buy a car I already have. The other 3 times I got a cheap car I already had. Which, of course, I cannot sell because they still haven't added that feature to the game despite the PSN store falsely claiming you can sell stuff in the game since day 1. This wouldn't even matter except ALL engine swaps in the game are locked behind this rigged ticket system. There is NO way in the game to earn engine swaps any other way. What in the world were they even thinking by doing this?

The penalty system for online races makes no sense. You'll get hit by another player and get a penalty while they get nothing. Minor contact gives you a penalty, but a player trying to intentionally ram someone so hard that the game ghosts their car to prevent it gets zero penalty. It makes absolutely no sense and ruins the online experience.

There are a ton of really fast cars in the game, and absolutely zero events to use them in. The most frustrating part of that is that those events are already built into the game and they just wont enable them. PD had Jimmy Fallon playing the game prior to launch and you can see race options for the game prior to release that included Gr1 and high performance point races on Daytona that the paying customers still don't have access to. I guess only celebrities get that content, not paying customers.

The performance point system is horribly broken. You can wildly skew the ratings of any car in the game by making the first couple of gears unusable and doing weird suspension settings. Until they fix this the game will be in a bad state.

In summary, this game was launched as a terrible exercise in how to bleed customers for microtransaction money. While that's been partially fixed, the rest of the game is still in a terrible state. It's unfortunate because under all the terrible design decisions made by PD that are ruining the game, there is actually the bones of a really great racing game with stunning visuals and fun driving. This entire drama is solely the result of the terrible leadership decisions at PD. It can be fixed, and I really hope it will be fixed at some point, but there's no reason to recommend this game to anyone in it's current state, and all my friends who've been asking me if they should get it have been told to wait for future updates. This is a huge disappointment. The people who changed their reviews to 10s after the tiny changes we got make absolutely no sense to me. PD isn't communicating with their costumers AT ALL and no longer deserves the faith people are trying to place in them.

You would think the debacle with EA's Battlefront would have publishers smarten up and not bog down their games to be unplayable with microtransactions to the point where the government has to step in and protect the children from gambling, and yet here we are. Seems like every decision in this game was made to push the player to spend money just to progress. From the microtransaction being disabled in the review version, and then soon after the game release, lowering the payouts for races. Do you want an unenjoyable game? Well GT7 is exactly that. Even though steps has been taken to remedy the situation, the fact the PD even attempted this level of micro transactions, and even nerfing the ability to earn credits which made it even worse, this is why review bombing and gamer activism is needed to prevent shady business practices in the gaming industry.

Gran Turismo 7 has a lot of good and plenty of great. The use of DualSense and the particularly well-tuned loading is exemplary, and there's a huge amount of work behind the game, with a lot of detail that's almost hard to believe at times. [Issue#318]
