    I was so happy to buy and play this game after seeing some positive reviews on YouTube. This was my first gran turismo game I bought when it released and at first I was happy with what I had but then the game ended out of nowhere and I was left with what seemed a very minimal and diverse amount of races, a lot of very difficult challenges to complete on    ***PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU BUY!!!***

    I was so happy to buy and play this game after seeing some positive reviews on YouTube. This was my first gran turismo game I bought when it released and at first I was happy with what I had but then the game ended out of nowhere and I was left with what seemed a very minimal and diverse amount of races, a lot of very difficult challenges to complete on controller, & extremely predatory micro transactions. I had absolutely no idea that literally 90% of this game is only playable online so if I don’t have a internet connection, I am only limited to barely 10% of what this game has to offer. This wasn’t stated anywhere in the PlayStation store before I preordered and bought the game. On top of this, after the last update where I found out the majority of the game can only be played online, the people at polyfony digital decided to cut literally EVERY single race that was somewhat efficient in making in game money instead of balancing the lesser paying races. This company did all of this purposefully after every review company had posted a favorable review for them & now they r treating their customers as if they were slaves to earn virtual cars in their game. To polygons digital & Sony: this will be the first and last time I ever buy a game within months of it releasing and it might even be the last time I buy a game from ur store ever because this keeps happening across so many games Sony allows on their store. This is heartbreaking for this to happen in gaming, games were supposed to be a haven and now that’s being manipulated and abused. The past couple releases, battlefield 2042, Babylon’s fall, and gran turismo 7 have really made me not want to play games anymore. Wow.    … Expand

    i can only do about an hour a day of racing, kazunori yamauchi says he doesnt want people to be pushed towards microtransactions but it will take me over a month to get the credits required to get just one single legendary supercar... this is so disgusting on top of the always online requirement. terrible game, i wish i could get a refund.

    Die hard GT fan since drooling over magazine previews of the original PS1 game all those years ago. Reducing credit payouts in an update to obviously force players into micro transactions stinks. Polyphony were AAA. A rare 1st party that always hits and knows its player base. Soon enough, it won't have one.

    I thought this was a racing simulator.
    Instead, it is a car ownership simulator.
    The credit system needs to be addressed! I've played several GT versions, and the credit system is way too stingy.

    In a game where you collect cars I will never be able to afford all of the cars available. You also don't get to drive more than 8 cars on split screen for fun with your mates. You have to wait for invitations to buy certain cars, or wait for them to be one of the 4 'in stock' legendary cars, so even if you pay cold hard cash to buy credits you still can't drive whatever you want.

    F*** you Polyphony.30h downtime for a singeplayer, not even a compensation of any kind for this huge downtime and on top of that players now earn LESS credits. That's probably the worst you could have done to your loyal fans. Deleted the game and will demand my money back via Sony.

    Whilst the gameplay may be fun and the graphics may be stunning, unfortunately the game is plagued by microtransactions and their exploitative always-online system. The game has now been nearly unplayable tor the past 36 hours, because they only allow you to play as long as their servers are live, which they have not been.     Want that lovely vintage Jag? 12 million credits. To put that into perspective, the highest paying race was recently nerfed from 92,500 credits per race to 45,000 credits. If we are to play this track over and over and over to try and obtain this Jaguar, with each race taking approximately 4-5 minutes, you’ll be spending approximately 22 IN-GAME HOURS, DOING THE SAME 5 MINUTE RACE OVER AND OVER, OR UNTIL YOUR BRAIN STARTS LEAKING FROM YOUR NOSTRILS. Or of course, forget those 22 precious hours and spend a mere £96 on 6 x 2 million credit packs costing £16 a piece. Thanks Polyphony!

    Also, what I don’t see being mentioned often is the shocking lack of content. After completing the café, which really at its core makes no sense, you’ve got missions and licenses. All in all this equates to about 20 hours of gameplay and, relative to the cost of the cars, offers very little credits. After you complete these 3 things, the only viable option you have is to play multiplayer, which is littered with idiots who think they’re playing demolition derby instead of participating in an actual race. Found a good lobby at long last? The host will end the lobby after 1 race thanks to the lack of dedicated servers, and apparently the inability to implement (a several decade-old technology) host migration.

    All in all this game has been spoiled by the sheer greed of Sony and/or Polyphony, the disgraceful lack of content and the forceful and exploitative always-online nature of the game (so you don’t, god forbid, find a way to make credits offline)    … Expand

    A childhood nostalgic game franchise ruined by greedy micro transactions. I remember when PD were perfectionists that made masterpieces. Now they're just another EA trying to grab as much money as possible and push you down the route of buying credits. I'll be uninstalling this game tonight and only re-install when their management team listen to their customers and sort it out.     But... It seems that Polyphony Digitals really want us to use micro transactions in their game because they decided in the last update to reduce the credits earned... So by now you need to do the same race 400 times... Or buy 20 Millions credits for 200$... Fine...

    It's a real shame because this game has a huge potential but for the moment it seems the Studio is more interesting in making money than making Customer Satisfaction.    … Expand

    Greedy developers, not only for reducing the prizes payment looking to increase microtransactions, but also not giving anything to make up for being offline for almost two whole days. I have preordered the game but I regret it and will not purchase any more products from them again.

    What is going on with this game? Servers are still down after 24 hours and the game in not playable. $70+ for an online only game is ridiculous. Honestly I don't think the fans would mind this If the company would make frequent official announcements of what's going on. But there hasn't been a single word from them except for a tweet 30 hours ago stating an extended maintenance period.

    Been playing GT series for 25 years, even keeping my PS3 to play GT6.

    I hated GT sport. the online only multilayer had no appeal to me, so after I bought it, played it 3 times I realised the single player content was virtually zero so boycotted it and decided to wait for a single player GT7.     I even splashed out on a GR29 and rig... excitement levels were very high, the reviews gave it top marks, graphics looked amazing....

    Got my disc version of the game and attempted an install, I was met with a crazy 98Gb download and a 38hr wait... so after 1 hour I looked on forums and found out if you try and do a disc install whilst online it decides to download it instead... so after I stopped the install, deleted the progress and disconnected internet i managed a 2 hour install from disc...

    I then loaded the game and instantly realised it was online only with only limited music races being accessible offline... oh dear...

    So onto playing it, being an adult with a job and children the time I have to play is limited to a couple of hours here and there, but it all started out like a normal GT game... bloody fantastic gameplay, physics and graphics... playing with a wheel takes some getting used to, but really fun... in menu music is really bad and you cannot select your playlist like GT6, probably due to monetising of the music...

    I started going through the licenses.... noticed i was struggling with any dirt track ones... the demo video showing totally different handling to in game physics... turned out patch 1.06 had messed with the car setup and changed the tyres... i thought that was very odd and had me wondering about how accurate leaderboards are if they can just change settings on a whim...

    So come 17th March and I knew patch 1.07 was coming and would fix the dirt tyre problem... so on I went for a night of GT... nope, online only servers down for 30 hrs because of online only rubbish!!

    Then I find out they've reduced in game credits for races, then I unlock the legendary garage and every car is cr1,000,000... wtf even base cars are massively over priced... then I notice you can buy in game credits with real money...

    I was gutted... it’s meant to be escapism from real life, buy a sorted game and everyone has a fair go at earning credits, progressing and getting cars... so people that grafted for hours in the 1st week get more reward than me for doing the same races… totally unfair.

    I can’t afford nice cars in real life, why would I want to play a game that I can’t afford nice cars either?

    We have been conned by Sony... they released a great game, waited for decent reviews then screw us all for microtransactions by changing the game... it’s a con… this isn’t candycrush, so now it appears we have paid ~£70 for a pay to play online only single player game... I feel like a mug... I want them to refund my game or reward everyone with ALOT of in game credits.

    I hate microtransactions and online games…

    I think I'll stop playing and use my rig with wreckfest instead...

    Reasonably disappointed ... but life goes on... this is just a review to warn others and let Sony know people can ruin their profits with bad reviews when they try and screw us over...

    I have a T300 and you can't feel the road. You feel the car, but not the road. GT5 and 6 are superior (PS3) when it comes to the wheel (T500). Also not a big fan of the sound of the cars. It's very blend and a far cry from GT4. The coffee guy is a prime example of a dictator. You have    GT7 (at 80$) is more agressive on MTX than a free cell phone game.

    When games get more open in 2020's,, GT7 decided that it would take the freedom you had from GT1 all the way to GT6 away from you. You can't plan ahead as you don't see the tree of what is coming. The game is micromanaging you.
    For a game that calls itself a "SIM",, I feel like cars all drive kind of the same like if they only built 8 "behavior patterns" and then make them slide more or brake less. It's not really good.
    I have played 30 missions and never had to buy a car, or make an upgrade. Cars are handed to you and don't even need to upgrade tires to win races. I have yet to had to re-do a race to win the race.
    To be transparent, I did skip GT Sports as it didn't have a career mode and maybe that is why I am not blinded by this new GT7 as an upgrade. I still play GT5 on a PS3 and GT6 on a PS3 and for me this GT7 I believe, will not be "IT".

    As for the "ONLINE" racing,, I couldn't care less. I don't play with others. I am old school playing "story" or career.
    On the good side,,, I bought this game as physical copy so, I am probably going to sale it soon. I don't think it has any re-playable value to me.    … Expand

    Which means 100€ for 1 **** Car.

    Ive waited 10 years for this **** ? I WANT A FULL REFUND!!!! After grinding 10 hours on campaign you dont even give me a good car. Not to mention the credits for the good cars are ridiculous amounts. You have to grind another 10 hours just to get a good car then another 5 hoursto upgrade it. MONEY HUNGRY P.O.S.

    I created an account for this review. The online only is the nail in the coffin for me along with Micro-transactions. This is a disgusting model and I will be hesitant to buy any PS franchise game moving forward. This game is worse to me than GT Sport, which I didn't think in a million years would be humanly possible.     Felt like half a game without endurance, gr1 races etc. I was disappointed but still had fun, now they nerf the payouts from races to force people to their micro transactions… buy on sale / wait for the game to be complete.

    A true fall from grace. Polyphony Digital ought to be ashamed of themselves. The genre-leading mechanics only serve to make the predatory aspects of this game sting all the more.

    The grind to obtain cars is freaking insane. Users keep complaining about this, and they keep patching it to make the credits less. Classic example of monetization driving game design, and not listening to feedback from your customers. Hopefully they can change their ways before it's too late.

    Game is always online for single player only because of their BS microtransaction system they shoehorned into the game. Nerf in-game rewards to encourage MTX transactions and fill the game with many ways to tempt you into spending cash.

    80 dollar game btw.

    I am absolutely disappointed with this game - already requested the refund.
    I don't know where to even start!
    - Tiny payouts from the races - absolutely ridiculous! - The annoying roulette tickets for daily practice and other progression - for vast majority of time you get a laughable few thousand credits. You can forget about a nice car - not gonna happen. - "Limited cars" worth    I am absolutely disappointed with this game - already requested the refund.
    I don't know where to even start!
    - Tiny payouts from the races - absolutely ridiculous!

    This is my first review on this site, this is how strongly I am annoyed at this game.
    I bought this game on launch to play. It's a racing game I played as a child and it seemed like a nice nostalgia trip. When I was in highschool I bought a used PS3 just to play this game! That's how much I loved it.
    My first few hours with the game where great. I had a great time, the racing was fun.    This is my first review on this site, this is how strongly I am annoyed at this game.
    I bought this game on launch to play. It's a racing game I played as a child and it seemed like a nice nostalgia trip. When I was in highschool I bought a used PS3 just to play this game! That's how much I loved it.

    My first few hours with the game where great. I had a great time, the racing was fun. The money was a tad grindy but really not bad for what I was needing the money for.

    I took a break due to life for a few days and an update came out. 1.06. "Sweet!" I thought to myself, there might be some new content or at the least bug fixes! I was wrong.

    1.06 broke licensing, the gateway to progressing the game. All rally license tests where swapped from dirt tires to road tires. I spent literally 4 hours trying to pass a test because it seemed ungodly hard (I already got the previous 2 rally tests done without an issue). Watching the example I couldn't do anything close to what they where doing and it was infuriating. Near the end of the 4 hours I said screw it, maybe someone online has something to say about how to do this and I'm just bad? After a quick google search I found the bug and that it was broken.

    So I put the game down and thought to myself, "I'll just wait for it to get patched."
    2 weeks later they release 1.07. "Sweet" I think to myself, they patched the issue that was stopping me from progressing!

    Turns out they also kneecapped the payouts to races. Which up to this point, EVERY TIME you get paid you get to see the "Top up balance" option under your money just reminding you to spend a little cash to progress faster! Which I didn't really mind as I didn't have to grind that hard to progress. And without grind the game wouldn't be as fun. But now you make money sometimes 50% slower than before. That's disgusting.

    TLDR: was a chidlhood fan, if they don't undo their greed I WILL NEVER purchase this game again. Adding to that, I will never purchase a playstation ever again, as this removes any desire I have to own one! And I'll stick to PC gaming. Where at least I can undo game breaking updates. which I've never experienced before this point in my life.

    P.S. If they undo the extra greed they did to payouts I'll give most of the points back. But a game breaking bug that doesn't get patched for weeks after launch is brutal for any game.    … Expand

    Enjoyed the first hours of gameplay but after completing the main “story” of the game it becomes lifeless and a soulless grind that is made exponentially worse by the developer continuing to push microtransactions. Disappointed is an understatement when talking about this historically brilliant franchise. Avoid this game at least until they put more care for the consumer into it.

    A great racing game ruined but greedy companies yet again. Always online with it being down for more than a day, £96 for classics cars, and boring and lazy race setups with no qualifying. Don't waste your money unless Sony and PD fix their mistakes.

In GT7, you're forced to collect dozens of reward cars that you won't ever drive or care about. Coupled with the rolling-start format of all the campaign races in which some of your opponents have a 30+ second lead, it just makes for a terrible single-player experience. I don't imagine this game will ever be fixed, since Polyphony has given in to greed and cynically tuned the game's mechanics to extract the most amount of money possible from players.… Expand

    Welcome to modern gaming. The customer is a victim. This is the second, and last, game I’ve preordered. I stupidly thought I could trust the GT brand. Lesson learned. I don’t have time to grind so I’m going to walk away from the game until the meta vehicles are established. Then I’ll buy them with the credits I have saved and race them. I’ll enjoy other games until then.

For a second, a pre-paid subscription for 1 year! This is a real genocide and neglect of the huge fan base who bought PS 5 consoles just for this game. Now, even if you return to our country, no one wants to buy something, much less spend money on micro-transactions in this game.     For a full price game the move towards MTX after launch is unacceptable. NVM the online required connection the fact that we paid for a full game only to see it turn into a kind of mobile game economy where you have to continually invest in is beyond frustrating.
    The game itself is very good and enjoyable but the obvious push for MTX breaks the whole thing..

This led to 32 hours outbreak when we couldn't even play the game on single player campaign, from a PD server's error as they said. By saying this I’m not expecting to play the game for a week and have all of the best cars from what pervious comments have mentioned, but you cannot ignore the lack of credits, cost of cars, and time required. Also, something everyone is forgetting to mention is that only 20 million free credits can be saved if you want more than 20 million the credits will have to be purchased and if cars in the hagerty legendary car dealership are more than 20million that will require real money.… Expand

    I bought this game with a DVD disc, my game save cannot be reached when the server is down for over 24 hours.
    After the 1.08 update, the rewards have been cut sharply.

    This Game felt like a 7.5 to 8/10 for me during the first two weeks. Had great fun until the latest updates. Besides its always online requirement the from now on reduced winning prizes and the incredibly arrogant behavior/reaction of the developer studio kinda killed the vibe for me. Too bad I bought the digital version… Would have returned it immediately.

    This game is unplayable offline. If servers are down for “maintenance” you effectively can do nothing. It’s also micro transaction laced. You cannot drive the cars you like without paying outside fees. At first you could “grind” but they lowered payout so you can’t realistically earn the cars you bought the game for. I regret this purchase entirely. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Been a fan since gt 4, but PD went full EA and not only did they inflate the prices of all cars from the latest game (that includes payed dlc cars) they also just dropped an update lowering credit earning coefficient. You got me this time, pd, but I’m done with the series.

    The story campaign of becoming a professional driver feels like a half finished game. It's is currently lacking many enjoyable races to make in-game credits and no playing ground for their remarkable gt vision designs game credits and many different variations of races other than generic cars. The return of the tuning shop is a nice feature and allows players to enjoy customisation however it's is ridiculed by the fact that many options for buying cars and tuning cars which have such extreme costs via these in game credits that it outweighs the feature entirely

    It feels as though the game has been released on a beta stage and with a 2 day outage with no reports from the developers and the explanation eventually being released which was something nobody had experienced also a update removing even more potential earnings from playing the lackluster of races. No compensation was given for this matter either. You can purchase a multitude of in game credits with real currency however defeating the purpose of playing a game again.    … Expand

    There’s isn’t even a game here yet to revisit. Bought an anniversary addition, such a waste of money. Okay thought the main single player arc was just the intro, and after buying a full priced game, it’s okay to win. Will revisit in a few months and see if they’ve added updates to actually make this a game. What a disappointment.

    Hardcore fan since the very beginning of this pivotal franchise. Forked out 80 € (hooray for european prices!) only to see this once glorious franchise turned into a greedy gatcha game. You can continue with this always online **** Poliphony or choose to rectify it and not lose all your devoted fanbase..

    Gran Turismo 7 has a lot of good and plenty of great. The use of DualSense and the particularly well-tuned loading is exemplary, and there's a huge amount of work behind the game, with a lot of detail that's almost hard to believe at times. [Issue#318]

    Gran Turismo 7 brings to the tracks every single thing fans always wanted: the GT Mode everyone loves, plenty of customization options, car loads, classic scenarios and one of the best DualSense and 3D Audio experiences the PS5 has to offer. This is the best Gran Turismo experience we have ever seen in a long time.

    Gran Turismo 7 is a love letter to motorsport history and an impeccable technical showcase. The franchise's traditional formula gets good improvements, but it's still extremely true to its roots. One of the best racing series ever shines spectacularly on the PS5.
