Forza absolutely has Gran Turismo beat in the car racing category now. I refuse to pay to play or pay to win. Such a shame for what was one of the best franchises. Enabling micro-transactions after critic reviews are up and then making in-game economy terrible - forcing users to spend money to avoid pointless grinds with an outdated AI. Even online races bring almost nothing to the table, great way to get people into Sport mode there (/s).

Online only play even in single player, initial release bugs causing long game lockouts and worst of all… MICRO-TRANSACTIONS in a full price game. We need stand up against this so any developer doesn’t dare attempt this again!!! Just shameful :(

    What else can I say besides online only is stupid, it’s impossible to buy any good cars without grinding for hours or paying with real money, and I can’t even play because the servers are down. They owe everyone a refund, this is atrocious. It’s a shame because the actual gameplay is really fun.

    This review is in direct response to update 1.7 cutting all the race payouts to drive players to micro transactions. Before the update I would have recommended the game but now I just feel cheated and as you can read, so do a lot of people. MTX does not belong in a game we paid full price for. You cannot sell cars for credits like you could in every other GT game.

    A full priced Free to Play game with little to none playable content. Forced permanent online, even for single player, it is a game you cannot own. Forced micro-transactions everywhere, to make it worse the game has seen an update to drastically reduce race payouts, and players are not allowed to sell their cars. The worst pay to win game ever.

The cars each have a unique feel, which keeps things interesting and makes them fun to drive. Unfortunately, they got greedy and had to go and mess up an otherwise great title. The payouts for races are a joke and they've actively reduced them after release to prevent players from being able to obtain vehicles through a reasonable amount of gameplay. Want to buy a supercar on this game? You can either grind for weeks or spend $40 of real life money. Once you finish the brief career mode it's nothing more than a really pretty pay to play cell phone game with a next-gen $70-90 price tag. This is how they've decided to thank the community on the 25th anniversary of the series. Beyond disappointing.… Expand

    Just to note my commitment before this games release - I bought the Fanatec GT DD wheel ($750) and a Next Level Racing F-GT cockpit ($650) to finally make the sim rig I've always wanted.     Can’t play without a server connection. Predatory micro-transactions.

    Single player Races= no qualifiers, always last place, rolling starts where you pass as many cars for five or more laps. Rinse and repeat. Doesn’t matter what skill or how many gold medal you have, you are last! This is not a racing game.

The day I received GT7, I completed the licenses with all gold and started the challenges. Completed a few races and what not and within the first few days of playing, found myself earning around 3 million. Keeping in mind it's £15 for 2mil in game credits which is nothing. Don't get me started on the roulette spins... After 70 or so pins, I am yet to get anything bar the last place prize out of 5 possible prizes. Disgustingly rigged. The driving itself is superb, fun, addictive and down right beautiful at times. However the fun is locked behind a gigantic rigged paywall. Also... I spent 1 mil on a car that I was later given and you CANNOT sell cars … Expand

Sport mode requires constant credit spending, the game doesn't respect your time, then the update drops and it's even worse! I don't understand how they think this would all work, I'm afraid this is the new cyberpunk. I deeply regret buying this game... disgraceful.

    Outrageous. I bought this game at launch and Sony thanks me by pushing out an update to ruin the in-game economy and force players towards microtransactions. That and this mostly singleplayer experience requiring an internet connection. I am never buying another Sony game at launch again. I refuse to support anti-consumer practices like this.

Turns out the latest patch is REDUCING the credit rewards for completing races? These rewards are already low. Changing them and adding MTX after release is bad business practice. Buyer beware.

    Game play physics are solid however if you want it to play online you will only get 28,000 Credits for coming first place in a 20 player race that takes 25mins.. now there are many cars that cost 10mill-20mill. So if you plan to focus online only it is stupid and pushed micro transactions hard

    This could have been a great game, but it was ruined by an online-only single player mode which means that you are at the whim of the developer/publisher as to when you can actually play the game. Add to that diminishing rewards that push you more & more towards microtransactions and this is a disaster of a game. This is the kind of thing you expect from free-to-play games, not $70 AAA titles.

    -remove online only
    -add a new GT Mode where you start out the game with x amount of credits and get to buy your own car and participate in races you choose to do based on the license you have ALONGSIDE the cafe mode for car collecting
    -remove the terrible "chase the rabbit" races that are glorified overtaking challenges and either start the grid closer together or with a grid start
    -add more events (especially endurance events) and separate the world circuits from the events
    -give the option to qualify in every single race
    -more generous rewards ESPECIALLY for custom races - credits plus chances to win cars
    -more varied sport mode - have actual daily races alongside weekly races - BoP mode and tuning modes
    -completely rework the used car dealership, update more and give more used cars
    -add a platinum trophy to each license and mission event that is very difficult to complete
    -give more camera options, such as chase cam presets, cockpit view without the wheel etc. the camera's need a lot of work

    A game is meant to be played for fun, it is not meant to be a job or a chore to complete. That is the current state of GT Mode. A chore. The way the game is set up now is called padding, extremely slow progress in order to incentivise paying real world money for credits. This would only be acceptable if the game were free. Grinding itself is not the problem but the amount you have to do and the boring races you have to play to grind. And of course an online only game means that you cannot play a game you have paid for when it goes down for maintenance for 2 days as of writing. This is just the tip of what is wrong with online only games, in 5 or so years this game's servers will go down and it will never be a full experience again, it NEEDS to go. There is a salvageable game somewhere here but Polyphony Digital need to step up and rescue this series. The promise of more cars and tracks is no longer enough this won't fix the fundamental problems this game has currently.    … Expand

    It’s really unacceptable of Polyphony to make changes to the amount of credits being given for races when they also sell in game money. It’s just as scummy that they made the game have to connect online and then the servers are done for most of a day.

    I have been a fan since the original GT. Bought this game yesterday, without knowing the status. Could not play a brand new €80 game. How can this be? I'm currently asking for a refund.

The fact that you can’t play 90% of the game without connecting online is unfortunate however the lack of communication regarding the prolonged maintenance shutdown is pathetic. Real regrets about this game now, especially since it’s now obvious about their p2p mentality. What a shame… Expand

    It's such a shame, because I think this is the greatest game in the series - but as it stands I can't play it at all. I can still play my copy of GT1 whenever I want to.

    What an amazing game the graphics and gameplay are near perfect and the way they use micro transactions to utilise the real world fuel crisis is breaking the fourth wall so effectively.

    £70 for this game. £70. For them to add a roulette wheel boasting lovely prizes and cash only to give you the smallest cash prize every time. Also, invitations to purchase cars that are limited time to encourage you to buy credits from their shop is so manipulative it beggars belief. Shameful business practice.

    I can’t play the game, I paid $100 for this game (to have an extra 1.5m credits) and in order to play any further and continue my car collection (which is a highlighted and required feature to progress in the game) I have to spend HUNDREDS, literally HUNDREDS of dollars to finish.     There is a fun game to be found in gran turismo 7, but with tedious rewards, grinding, server issues, lack lustre tuning and more, polyphony successfully pull you away from the fun in exchange for an incredibly boring experience.

    - Increase race payouts
    - Reduce car prices
    - Better odds for the lottery tickets

    30+ hour server outage, little-to-no communication in the meantime, all to, as we understand, make the economy even more punishing than it already was. Add on top of that the very poor multiplayer experience and you've got yourself a wholly disappointing game.

    The score represents the amount of content playable right now.

    Though I have no interest in the online component of the game and only play single-player games, all of the single-player features are locked behind a required online collection.

    With the servers being down for over 24 hours, the game is essentially unplayable right now.

Update coming in! Rewards are cut in half! Wtf? And if that wasn't enough, the damn update makes theI was so hyped for that game.     Gran Turismo 7 has a lot of good and plenty of great. The use of DualSense and the particularly well-tuned loading is exemplary, and there's a huge amount of work behind the game, with a lot of detail that's almost hard to believe at times. [Issue#318]

    Gran Turismo 7 brings to the tracks every single thing fans always wanted: the GT Mode everyone loves, plenty of customization options, car loads, classic scenarios and one of the best DualSense and 3D Audio experiences the PS5 has to offer. This is the best Gran Turismo experience we have ever seen in a long time.

    Gran Turismo 7 is a love letter to motorsport history and an impeccable technical showcase. The franchise's traditional formula gets good improvements, but it's still extremely true to its roots. One of the best racing series ever shines spectacularly on the PS5.
