    Pros:
    Great driving physics.
License tests and missions are challenging and fun for the most part.
Multiplayer is fun, but tuning exploits needs fixing.
    Looks great.
It's just a joy to play.

    Cons:
    Campaign too short, feels unfinished.
    Always online.
BoP is exploitable in online races, so they took it out for now. Should've been fixed before release.

Mediocre in-game graphics, gameplay feels sluggish, and the decisions regarding the chase cam and car physics are not even the most atrocious thing about this game. The microtransactions, and the need to be online always. Grand Turismo used to be the benchmark racing game, now feels like something that EA would have made. Does not feel like this should be a full priced game.

Update: just realized that the cars on sale have expiration dates in attempts to feed consumer FOMO, and I find that disgusting.

This is no longer a game to me, so I give this a zero.

40 bucks for a semi-decent car shows that Polyphony has fallen to the greed of Microtransactions. Their communication to the world is also mindboggling. 30 hours downtime and not a word. This is my first GT game. Never again. Pathetic!

Had such high hopes for this game, but the inconsistent physics make it difficult to predict and react to what your car will do. Also the payout rewards are far too low and are constructed to force you into MTX in order to be competitive in online racing. It makes me sad.

Micro transactions and greedy business model have ruined this game. This game was good at first, but when you complete the main story (Cafe) it quickly loses all replay value. This wouldn't normally be an issue but race rewards have been NERFED. The reason behind the high car prices from the developer is to reflect real world prices, well who in the world would pay 100k for a Nitrous system?! Timed released cars require a large amounts of money and are designed to incorporate micro transactions.
The car selection is really lacking also. Sure it seems like a lot of cars, but most are are just recycled. They are the same cars but rebranded as rally, police, concept, or different year versions. My actual favorite was the 2019 Supra and the 2020 Supra.
I was overly hyped for the game because of my love of cars. This game managed to take the toxic side of the car community and pack it into a game. If that was the goal of the game, then they did a great job. I bought this game to relax and drive cars, and escape from the reality that I'll never drive a Bugatti. Now I'm stuck with a game that has boring races, terrible dirt tracks, and no real replay value. More disappointed in this game than cyberpunk, and at least they offered a refund. I didn't take a refund from them, but this game I would. I would rather play a buggy game with heart, than a void experience forcing me to micro transactions. Great job ruining this game after the first patch that was geared towards reducing player economy, than fixing things like dirt maps.

There are too many cars ripped right out of GT Sport. You would think this game was made in the mid 2010’s with the cars available. The “upgrades” are priced absolutely ridiculous, just putting soft racing tires on a car can cost multiple races worth of winnings. Hours worth of gameplay if you even want to decently upgrade ONE car. Which leads me to the obvious issue, it is unacceptable how many credits you receive for each race. I’m not playing this game 10 hours a day, I’m not grinding the same race 20 times in a row before they nerf the rewards again. I’m a casual player that wants to jump in for a bit when I have time. Which means I can’t afford any cars I want, I can’t upgrade anything, I can’t even paint my f*****g cars without being broke all the time. But this is exactly where they want us to be, so we buy their outrageously priced credits with real money. I’m not even going to get into not being able to play the game I just paid $70 for because everything is only online and they took it down. Sony should be ashamed at the state of this game, and appalled that the creator is doubling down on his BS instead of accepting fault and making adjustments. DO NOT BUY THIS UNLESS THEY HAVE MADE DRASTIC CHANGES TO THE IN GAME ECONOMY. Expand

The license tests are also just a side feature, like missions, that dont interact with the main campaign like older GT games. The biggest complaint I have though is that cars that were normally attainable through regular gameplay are now nearly impossible to save up, requiring the player to grind for 20+ hours due to lack of high paying end game content or the ability to sell any cars. Of course, this is to push people into microtransactions, but even then the pricing is ridiculous. A more proper term would be macrotransactions, with some cars costing more than the game itself. For example the McLaren F1 would cost $185 of real money. Even if the dollar-to-credit ratio was 10x better, I would still seriously consider buying any credits out of fear of encouraging this type of behavior from game developers. Maybe the best GT fans can hope for now is a GT4 release on PSN. As long as GT7 is in this state I would recommend saving your money. Expand

If you enjoy circuit-based racing games and looking at beautifully modelled cars it really is a joy. The graphics are not quite where I'd like them to be, it pays not to look too closely or you will see the occasional pop-in and some odd, almost stuttering, reflections on the cars. But when you're engrossed in a race, trying desperately to get that 3rd place to progress, you won't notice.

I've not been playing for long, only got 30 cars or so. Two I won on the 'lottery', so although you often 'win' the lowest credit amount it does give you some nice rewards. I've yet to not be able to progress because I ran out of credits. You don't need every car and so far found you don't need to spend much on upgrades to be winning races.

I'm sure it'll get harder and the credits will need to be spent wisely later on, but I really don't see a need to spend anything on MTX later. As for the always online? Well I am always online anyway, so I don't mind.

Is it a 10/10 game? No, maybe 8.5/10?. Why did I rate it 10/10? To try and counter the ridiculous review bombing going on.

If you enjoyed GT games in the past you will love this.

Game has lots of issues. multiplayer is effectively broken. I would rather the game was garbage all around. Don't be fooled by the critic reviews, many of them reviewed the game before the cash shop went live, and nearly all of them before the payouts were nerfed. I do hope reviewers go back and correct their reviews to update the actual game. It is a flagrant cash grab in its current form. I have played actual gacha games that were less predatory. Expand

Then to nerf money making races after a couple weeks into the game terrible!! I was so excited for this game but honestly if I want to play a racing game I might as well go back to gt5. Grinding races to earn money for cars was always part of the game but it was never this horrible before. The lack of many brands of cars is disappointing what happened to all the older cars and “normal every day driver” cars?? Such a shame that so much potential went down the tubes. I’m don’t enjoy online multiplayer and after about 30hrs of single player there’s not really a reason to keep playing this game. Without any reasonable way to make money collecting and experiencing different cars is just to daunting of a task, which is a shame because that was always a highlight of the series. Unless something is done to right this sinking ship this should be the end of the series and this game hopefully forgotten from history because of the enormous double black eyes on this otherwise excellent series that inspired so many others, you used to not be able to talk racing games without gran turismo it will soon be talking about racing games and avoid what gram turismo became. Some of the prize cars are okay, but the game is definitely geared toward MTX, which I have never done. The first 15 hours of playtime or so are great, among the license tests and the missions and the "café menu", which is a set of missions that represents the main campaign, I had a ton of fun. It's only after I've completed all of that where I started to really feel the issues this game has.
Race payouts dramatically decrease after completing the café menu, paying you peanuts for hours of racing, and after one of the game updates payouts have been further decreased, the massive prices of upgrade parts further exacerbate this problem. You'll barely be able to afford upgrading and maintaining your current cars let alone buy any new ones. That "top up your credits" button placed right next to your credit balance, which lets you buy in-game credits with your real money, seems to be the only way to buy expensive cars, at any reasonable pace. Then there are the most rare and expensive cars, some which require a rare invite that can only be acquired through a "roulette ticket" under very small odds, which after a certain date will no longer be purchasable until you manage to find another invite. The other type of rare cars are placed in the legend car dealership, only available for a limited time and then are no longer purchasable until they appear in the dealership again, when that may happen is anyone's guess.

The developers, Polyphony Digital, state that the high prices of cars were designed to reflect their real life counterparts, and that the low payouts for races were intended to keep the player from restarting the same race over and over and ensure they play a variety of races, and that further means of earning credits in the game will be introduced in later updates.
Their claim of designing for authenticity doesn't seem to hold up when we look at different parts of the game. For example, the nitrous upgrade part alone costs a whopping 100,000 credits. Twice the price of a Chevrolet Corvette C7. A set of tires set you back over 20,000 credits. These do not reflect their real life counterparts at all. The credit balance has a cap of 20,000,000 credits. Which means you cannot have a credit balance of more than 20 million. This also does not reflect real life economics. Neither does the fact that winning the world championship earn you as much as a minimum wage job. The only pattern that seems to exist is that making money and buying cars is being made as hard and unreasonable as possible through playing the game, regardless of whether it is realistic or not. It's hard not to see that this is all pushing towards making players use their wallets because they're tired of waiting to buy their favorite cars.

The game is only-online, meaning you can only access the large majority of this game if you are connected to the servers. Almost all game modes are locked if you are offline or whenever the servers are down, even though many of this games features are single player based. This is most likely a drastic decision made because the developers want to monitor the player's credit balance and ensure that cheaters don't ruin their microtransactions cashflow.

There's an excellent game buried in here. Under all the predatory microtransaction tactics, I honestly think this could be an amazing game. It's such a shame that the developers/publishers have marred it with unnecessary tactics that really spoil the fun. I wish and hope that Polyphony Digital listens to their customers and reconsiders and make this game fun, playable offfline, and the grind for credits more reasonable.

WE STAND AGAINST YOUR PREDATORY MICROTRANSACTIONS !

FIX THIS GAME PROBLEMS OR GT7 WILL DIE SONY !

1- Few brand new cars to the series and tracks compared to GT Sport, we need more like: Porsche 918, Jag XJ220, EB110 SS, Mclaren P1, 720S, SF90 Stradale, 812 Superfast, Koenigsegg Agera, Chiron SS, Venon F5, Saleen S7 TT, Maserati MC12, Porsche 959, Cizeta V16T, Ruf CTR2, New V8 Vantage, New M3, New RS4 Avant, New C63 AMG Sedan, etc...

2- Ai "Sophy" system it's totally Hardcore and unbalanced on the Gr.Series campaing events, they must turn down the Ai difficulty level -25% at least

3- Making in game cash (credits) it´s a true grind, we need more cash gains and rewards to make the cars more obtainable as well the performance mods (without PAYING REAL EXTRA MONEY)

4- Make us able to sell our cars again like in every other GT game

5- Performance mods are too weak to the point that feels unrealistic, i know some cars in game that can produce with the same mods a lot more power in real life, like the classic VW Beetle, in real life i know there is shops that can make it with +300hps tuned to the max with a big turbo, but in game it´s about 100hps tuned to the max even turbocharged, we need a lot more HPs on this performance mods for all cars

    > Still things they can fix over time, otherwise it's a good game, looks great and physics are more realistic than previous GT games but sometimes it´s too hard to control the car, if you are coming from GT Sport i will recomend waiting some months for future discounts, more content and fixes ! !
