Microtransactions beware. Bought the game at full price at launch after the press reviews. Sony revealed the MTX after launch and totally designed the ingame economy to push MTX. The scam has been pushed further after 1.07, they went above and beyond and reduced the already low prize payouts. You can’t even sell your own cars for money. Delay your buy until Sony fixes their game.

Sony / Polyphony Digital have gone the way of EA etc with anti-consumer decisions.

It already took much longer than previous GT titles to earn enough credits to pay for many vehicles, but I guess sales of the heavily pushed micro transactions weren’t as high as they’d expected, so they nerfed the reward amounts on the most popularly farmed races in the latest update. Speaking of updates, whenever an update is released, the servers require patching first. This means you can’t play the game because of its “always online” requirement. Yes, you can’t even work on your license tests while the server is down. There’s supposedly some arcade races and the “music rally” tracks, but I never was even given the option to play them as my game refused to go into “offline mode” choosing only to throw up errors about how it couldn’t connect to the server.

    Shame on PlayStation
    Shame on Polyphony Digital
    Shame on Kazunori Yamauchi

Also, the AI sucks, so all the “story mode” races are rolling starts, where you just have to chase down the moronically driven AI car in first place from their 20-35 second head start.

A beautiful game spoiled by shady MTX practices. They already made it more of a grind post launch with the latest patch and it was already a grind fest before that. I’m not sure how PD didn’t get called out by all the reviewers but this is just not acceptable for a $80 game.

The roulette system is broken. The AI is horrible. Rolling single line starts where you start over 40 seconds

Rolling single line starts where you start over 40 seconds behind? Yup, it’s needed because the AI isn’t very good. It can be fun but the campaign needs more actual racing with grid starts.

Now tack on the always online requirement and the fact that the game has been unplayable for almost 24 hours…

    Community engagement is non-existent.

They need to do a complete 180 on this one.

This was after the game was already pushing you to buy micro transactions at every opportunity. I was fooled — the micro-transactions weren’t in the review copies of the game. Those reviewers felt the reward amounts for racing were fair. Now, a week later, those rewards have been slashed in half to coerce players into giving Sony more cash. Shocking and unacceptable conduct. Considering selling my PS5, no longer interested in Sony games if this is how they treat their customers. Make it right. Expand

Always online BS. Can’t even play offline during maintenance. Server went down for 12 hours but I can’t even play campaign mode. Spent $100 plus tax on this. No games should be forcing online only. Just go play Forza. Capping earned credits is also WILD. You're not getting any more of my money!

So disappointed. Requires ps plus subscription for single player.

Used car dealership sounds like a good idea but it really doesn't work with so little cars on offer. If you want any of the hero 90s jdm cars or any muscle cars you need to wait until Polyphony decides its time to put them on the market.

A great game, ruined by greed. Clearly with the recent changes, the intention is pushing players towards micro transactions as the only possible way to purchase the most desirable cars in the game. After players paying U$69 - U$89 depending on game edition, you wouldn’t expect to be nickled and dimed for the ability to get cars and tune them to be more competitive. The fact how obvious it is that they are pushing for mirco transactions is sad. To unlock everything, you'll need over 300 million credits, which is 2340 hours by there count. If you consider that you grind 50% and do 50% other stuff, you get 4680 hours. That's 6.4 hours a day, 2 years straight.

Luckily other companies are making better games without the crass monetisation, support those. Many people bought a PS5 (which are extremely hard to find) for this game and yet they are treated with contempt by Polyphony Digital. At the moment, the world is seeing rises in every day, essential costs (such as food and power) far beyond wage increases, people play games to escape and yet GT7 refuses to let you. You didn't even have to try for us to have loved GT7. We all wanted to love IT. You just had to do the absolute minimum. Instead you went out of your way to lure us in with trailers and hype and scooped us all up in your net of lies.

Nerfing the payout for races to kill the grind, LYING about being able to sell our cars, even doubles and triples of the same car, creating fake scarcity for car supply to induce fomo, the god awful gacha roulette which doesn't even pretend to be remotely randomized...all for what? That's right, to see how many people say "screw it, I really want this $20 mill credit Ferrari and don't want to complete 400 races to buy it, let me get my credit card." Because getting $70+ from each of us wasn't enough. And thanks to your forced always online game mechanic, which serves literally no purpose, I got to spend my one day off this week staring at a black screen informing me your servers are down. I'm assuming you're beefing them up for the influx of chash deposits your expecting after update 1.07.

To say I'm disappointed would be an understatement. To say I'll ever buy another Gran Turismo game ever again would be a lie. I hope it was worth it. Good luck s̵t̵e̵a̵l̵i̵n̵g̵ making a ton of money from this one.

Good graphics can’t save this game from predatory micro transactions and the always online requirement.

It’s really scummy of Polyphony to make changes to the amount of credits being given for races when they also sell in game money. It’s just as scummy that they made the game have to connect online and then the servers are done for most of a day. Polyphony and Sony are going to lose customers and likely sales of future GT games due to their lack of awareness that gamers don’t want either!

The reason it’s online only is so they can control the in game economy, the reason they do that is to control your credits and incentivize micro transactions. Sad to see a Sony studio stoop so low. These levels of greed are what you would expect from EA or Ubisoft. I have no interest of playing online but I can't even enjoy the single player campaign if their servers go down. Predatory micro transactions are also out of control in this game. Lesson learned, don't pre-order games until they've been out a few weeks since you cannot rely on early reviews .

Make it right Polyphony Digital, we know you can. Just look at GT1 to GT6.

At the moment it is not possible to sell cars, they can only be deleted from the garage. Furthermore, the microtransactions are completely destroying the game experience. Since the last update you earn even less credits in races than before so that you are even more forced to buy credits with real money. At the core GT7 was advertised as a car collecting game which I expected to get for a full price game. But after a few hours of playing you realise in which direction it goes, a real car collection can only be realised if you spend real money. Another negative aspect is that you are forced to be always-online in order to access the majority of game features, otherwise you won't be able to do anything. PD totally messed up the game and lost its reputation. It will be really hard to restore the trust of the majority of fans, this is really a shame! Expand

Repulsively greedy micro-transactions and a senseless “Always-On” internet requirement ruin a near flawless simulator with gorgeous graphics and a pretty engaging single-player environment.

I spent 110CAD as I wanted the PS4 and PS5 versions and now I’ll be lucky to get that money back. With that amount spent I expect to own the game but I don’t. I’m at the mercy of a server that needs to be up and a internet connection that needs to constantly run. Why? Not to make sure I’m enjoying the product. You don’t need a constant internet connection to drive a car around a track. Not for dynamic weather changes. You don’t need a constant internet connection to see what the weather is at the Nürburgring. No the only reason you’d need to constantly be connected is if Sony wants to know if there are more ways to frustrate you into paying real money for in-game credits. Latest update reduces rewards so it will take you longer to get the cars/upgrades you want. I’m sure they’ve also nerfed “Roulettes” further. At last count out of about 20 Roulettes I’ve “Won” the lowest level prize 17 times. Random? No, Shenanigans.

The game itself? So good! Exactly what I hoped for in terms of graphics and gameplay. Good license tests, fun missions for a different change of pace, seriously improved upgrade system for cars and really enjoyable races and championships. Read the 10/10 reviews. No need to rehash all that. Somehow, though, not enough emphasis has been put on the negatives.

Historically I’ve invested a lot into this franchise. Bought every version of the game since the first. Always bought the Special-editions if they were available. I’ve had a Gran Turismo keychain on my keys for over a decade. Gran Turismo steering wheel on the shelf in my office. Never thought of returning a Polyphony Digital product until now. Of course, I CAN’T return it because they say it’s not faulty so the joke’s on me I guess.

60 bucks used to be enough for a developer to invest time and effort into creating a masterpiece. Now not even $100 of our hard-earned money is worth it to them. We’re lucky to get a game that’s launched with 50% of its promised features. No gamer asked for a title to be released with bare minimum features followed by piecemeal content to be lazily tossed at the masses once a quarter for 3 years. I don’t blame the people that are actually making the game. I don’t doubt they’re also frustrated. But be careful who’s publishing your game. Eventually you’ll make no money at all when the greed becomes intolerable.

Unless they release a version of the game that doesn’t require an online connection, and they cut the cost of micro transactions by 75%, then just avoid it. Beautiful racing isn’t worth this disgusting new approach to wringing every cent out of gamers.

The physics for the cars also come off as unrealistic when compared to previous games. For example, in one of the races some of the AI cars drifted more than they should for the given speed at a particular corner.
