    But how bad are these business practices really? First off, the credit pay out in the game is often rather low and the cars are extremely expensive - up to 12 million credits. Grinding for that amount of credits in game will take many hours of the same boring events on repeat. The recent patch (1.07) only made grinding money in the game harder by lowering pay outs even more. Sony wants you to spend real money on credits. But even here the prices are absurd. A 12 million credit car translates to roughly 120 Dollars - and that's for a SINGLE car. To make matters worse, the game has many FOMO systems that try to push you to spend money quickly. Several of the cars in the game can only be obtained for a limited time, either because the shop's stock rotates or because you got an "invitation" to buy a car that has an expiry date. So you often have only a day to buy that 5 million credits car you want, leaving you with three equally unattractive options:
    1) Spend the entire rest of the day slaving away and trying to grind the money for 9 hours straight only to perhaps not make it in time after all
    2) spend 50 real Dollars to buy the car instantly
    3) wait weeks or months until the car goes on sale again

    This is by far the most predatory microtransaction system I've ever seen in a non-mobile game and Sony should be ashamed.    … Expand

    I feel that this game intentionally misled consumers by stripping the game of most microtransactions and nerfed rewards for in-game play until AFTER the reviews were out from major outlets like IGN and GameSpot. Once they obtained favorable reviews, they cranked down the in-game rewards to crank up the feeling that you need to spend on microtransactions. On top of all this game game (EvenI feel that this game intentionally misled consumers by stripping the game of most microtransactions and nerfed rewards for in-game play until AFTER the reviews were out from major outlets like IGN and GameSpot.     **** you MTX, ruined the whole game. The whole online DRM is just ridiculous for the career mode, clearly making the payout of the game work along with the server direction => Favor MTX, this is outrageous for a $70 game.

    This game actually deserves to get negative reviews if it were possible based solely on the fact that a different game has been provided to critics and professional reviewers. Not a single reviewer had 99% of the single player portion of the game blocked if no active internet connection was provided and there was no free to play monetization present during the review period.

    A mostly single player game, from a series that has been mostly single player focused since its inception, cannot and should not ever have an always online requirement, especially it is implemented with the sole purpose of forcing ludicrous monetization on players who have paid full price for the game. There is no way to play off the disc with the console off-line to earn credits properly as the game locks you out of content unless you are online and up to date to its latest patch. Absolutely unacceptable. I returned my disc for a refund and I am hoping there might be an attorney out there who loves GT and decides to do a class action lawsuit for the dishonest, shady and anti consumer garbage Polyphony and Sony have pulled with this game so they’ll have to rethink continuing with this garbage and going down this path with other games going forward.    … Expand

Same old race tracks (remember in GT4 where you raced down the streets of NYC and Paris?); can't customize your own tracks and races; can't select, change, customize the music like you used to be able to as you have to use Spotify if you want to import your own music; lots of lame, useless gimmicks that don't add any value like the JRPG style dialog boxes. One can go on with how disappointing it is that Polyphony Digital/Sony hasn't really changed or grown with the times other than follow EA's lead as far as nickel and diming gamers and long time fans for money and offering nothing in return. A lot of the cool and interesting things that were introduced in 4-Sport have been removed.
    Go for Assetto Corsa or Forza Horizon instead if you want a real and much better racing, innovative, simulator experience that doesn't try to rip you off and give you mediocrity in return. The Gran Turismo franchise is done.    … Expand

    - Physical Copy/Game on Disk is not playable after installation without patches (Useless Copy)
    - OnlineDRM all the time, for all Parts of the game! = SinglePlayer isn't really playable offline.
    - More than 30hours of GT Online Server downtime, short after release (because of a broken patch) ment a complete dead game, no SinglePlayer/Offline gaming ability.
    - Sh..t load of Microtransactions in a Full-Price Title!
    - Game was patched after Release with huge negative changes around Campaign Actions, and Race Events with increased car costs and deacreased Winning Race money to push Microtransactions even more in the focus!

    Many of these things are usually strategic company descisions and not developers faults, so I don't wanna blame everyone about this. I also agree with many comments here. This Game now, with all the relevant and negative changes to the game for Players, feels like (and should be) a free2play title. Instead they wan't to steal your money twice, out of your pocket! Really... SHAME ON YOU!

    Conclusion (for the moment):
    Don't support this! Share your thoughts! Open your month and fight against these kinds of methods or it might become the new/next definition of "Standard" for upcoming Gaming Releases.    … Expand

    -Nerfed payments
    -Can't sell vehicles
    -Ongoing maintenance
    -Cant play while offline

    Polyphony Digital used be associated with quality and they had my trust that they would do right by the customer, not any more sadly.

    Finally got a PS5 to play my all-time favourite series, and found that I can't play it because servers have been offline. Now I read about the introduction of micro transactions, which ruins the whole fun of grinding races to buy better and better cars. So disappointing from what looked like to be the pinnacle of sim racing.

    I have every single entry of this series and it really pains me to give this score to a very decent driving simulator but I just simply cannot support the current microtransaction model (on top of a 70 dollar game). And the thing that really grinds me the most is that the game needs to be online for a single player game, that’s not right, not now, not ever. This trend has to finish asap.

    When it comes to graphics, I am not some nerd that takes out my telescope and magnifying glass to analyze the graphics. In my opinion, the graphics look only slightly better than Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo. That 2016 rally game was accused by many to have trash graphics. So by that logic, the graphics in this game are trash too... no? Either way, the graphics are outdated and does not look like a next-gen AAA game worth $70. It is embarrassing that a $60 open world racer like Forza Horizon 5 has better graphics than a circuit racer for $70. The driving physics are horrible. Every car feels like it has a refrigerator on top of the car. The cars handle even worse than it does in real life. This is a video game for goodness sake. If anything, cars should handle better in a game. If you want a game with driving physics closer to real-life, take a look at Project Cars 2 or Assetto Corsa. The developers were too cheap and lazy to make the cars handle realistically, so they just made them heavy to give players the illusion that the driving is realistic.

    Most of the content in this game is online. So once the developers decide to switch off the servers, this game will basically become a demo. Imagine paying $70 for a demo. This outrageous greed makes EA look like saints in comparison. At least I can play their campaigns offline for basically any of their games that have a singleplayer campaign.     - need to be always online even for single player campaign mode. You basically will never actually "own" this game. Their servers were down for over 30 hours last week. Imagine not being able to play a game you bought
    - recent patch reduced CR rewards for some events - linear boring, even bizarre "cafe" missions - roulette spins most of the time land on the lowest    - microtransactions

    - the game does well to hinder your ability to actually race through boring missions and stories about racers. I don't need to know that Pedro moved to Japan when he was 5 and he thinks the flowers are pretty around the track
    - raytracing only available in cutscenes and replays

    I loved GT1 and GT2 and this was meant to be my return to this series. I even preordered the 25th Anniversary as soon as preorders opened.

    I am truly disappointed and cannot recommend this game, at least in the current form.    … Expand

The credits that you earn are meager. Each time that you win, there is literally an option for you to top up credit by purchasing them with real money using the PS store. This is an absolute shame and I truly pity Polyphony Digital. This decision was clearly made by Sony themselves and has nothing to do with the devs.

    The game's quite good, but gets a 0 by default for its frustrating always online requirement that blatantly serves no purpose other than DRM for the microtransactions. I'll be keeping a very close eye on GT Sport, and if they shut down those servers without patching that game to function offline, I'll be immediately selling my copy of GT7 while it still has some value other than as a coaster.

    Horrible game. All modes are online so on the days with extended maintenance you can’t even play single player modes. Apart from that, polyphony digital just patched the game to reduce the payouts in the game in order to push their disgusting micro-transaction model. Stay away

    The entire game is one huge grind now with pathetic rewards after each race.
    It is now a free-to-play system with a full AAA price-tag attached.

    Not upgrading my review after PD's "apology." Change course. Listen to the players. Amazon has accepted my return request. Sadly choosing to give up my progress, collection, liveries. All of which I thoroughly enjoyed up to the point I realized this game is an online only micro transaction bait and switch.

    I had put about 25-30 hours into GT7 from launch until the recent update where they destroyed payouts, making it totally unrealistic to keep buying any worth while cars without paying for in gain credits. On an already full prices games. For example A custom 24 hour race in GT7 will payout around 250,000 Cr.
    The same in GT sport bagged you around 7,000,000.

    As a former Gran Turismo fan I'm highly disappointed. The progression is significantly slower than in any Gran Turismo before and the AI is abysmal. There are 420 cars which can cost up to 20,000,000 credits. If you win a 30 minute race it will reward you only 10,000 credits! Buying just a decent car for like 200,000 credits takes multiple hours grind, legendary cars even more than 100As a former Gran Turismo fan I'm highly disappointed.     Realized I can't play the game offline. WTF, always been able to play Gran Turismo offline. Also selling credits?!? I mean come on if I wanted to pay premium price $80 for a game, and only realize by the way you need to pay more for other cars because it's not feasible to get them by just PLAYING THE GAME....

    I would give it a 8 if it weren't for the greedy casino tactics making it basically essential to use real money to get the best cars or grind for 24 hours per car. It's a shame because there is an ok game in there if they made an actual career mode and rewarded skill but instead we get this rubbish.

    Always online DRM and extremely grindy progression. Have not seen a game like this that really does not respect your time as a player.

    Not worth your money unless you are the biggest driving fan and can get this game on extreme sale.

    I am 47 yo, GT gave me lots of fun in ma gaming life but Polyphony is crossing the line.     Gran Turismo 7 has a lot of good and plenty of great. The use of DualSense and the particularly well-tuned loading is exemplary, and there's a huge amount of work behind the game, with a lot of detail that's almost hard to believe at times. [Issue#318]
