Remember the good days when Gran Turismo offered hundreds and hundreds of cars right out of the box with many many tracks, well those days are dead and Sony did it. Can't even imagine how horrible Gran Turismo 8 will be.

Gran Turismo is/was a great racing sim. Made by the best company Polyphony Digital. Japanese company. Best ever

This game however does not live up to the hype. They start you off with a 15-20 min intro video because its their 25th anniversary and they really want you to care, also its unavoidable. You can turn that option off in the menu afterwards. Next up is their godawful music rally. Go fast to keep the beat of the music going. That's really lame and also unavoidable. There's not much freedom to the game like in GT Sport. Every thing has to be unlocked one at a time thru some average Joe at the central hub of the game called GT Cafe. I like the hub layout, reminds me of gt1 kind of. The average Joe gives you these "menus" which tell you what 3 cars you are going to earn at the end of each race. But very specific cars. One menu might be Camaro's, next menu can be mustangs. and at the end of each menu, average Joe has to tell you a history lesson upon every menu completion. I don't forget about the amount of cut scenes

The awards to daily distance driven suck now. and they have these things called "roulette tickets" that come in 3 tiers ( im guessing because i got a 2 star ticket). You are no longer just winning cars anymore. No. you get either a car, tiny money, medium money, large money or a car part. I'm level 9, all my daily workouts and tickets I've earned have been mostly "tiny money." One other bad part about this game is that it will "invite you" to buy a car in game, one of the ones that cost $2M credits or $26 irl. Things are forced upon you, and you can't play multiplayer until you unlock it at level 7 or something. This game is kind of disappointing, feels like there something missing from it. I'm glad I didn't pay the $110 for the anniversary edition

The carrier is a big joke and there are 90% of events that are totally pointless since they don't give you enough credits so you end up doing the same races over and over. Licenses and missions are cool but once done I have zero desire to come back unless I want to improve my best time. Guess what... it doesn't work.
Physics are cool until you turn TC to zero. At that moment RWD and AWD become a nightmare. Is this a real driving simulator? And whats going on with the jumps? Jumping will become a meme, mark my words!!
Wheel of fortune...... OMG!!! WHAT IS THAT???? You put engine swaps and other unique tuning parts in there? That is a big L!
Lastly my biggest issue. The cars cost way more than they do in GTS while 90% of the races offer minimum cash prizes, racing online in lobbies gives you ZERO credits. But you know what... I'm constantly getting reminded that you can get additional credits trough MICRO TRANSACTIONS!!!!
This game is a joke. Nostalgia I hate you so much right now! I even brought PS5 just for GT, I'm such an Idiot.

    June 20th update
The game still lacks content despite add a whopping THREE Group 1 races at the end of May...
Online play is kind of rotten with people purposely knocking you off the track, which results in you getting a penalty. Or people ramming you at 300 km/h when you're doing a hairpin turn.

Anyways, I bought the PS5 JUST for GT7 and it did not meet my expectations so I sold my PS5.
Edit: it's been a few days since my review. I've played daily and accumulated ~5000000 credits grinding two races. The Trial Mountain championship, and the American Championship. I played WoW for 17 years... I'm ok with a bit of grinding... However, I'm now faced without knowing what car to buy. All the ones I want are out of any single player car requirements for races (all higher than 800PP). This kind of blows.

I have had fun so far playing it but the need for an internet connection for a single player game is so frustrating. Their servers were down lately which didn’t let me play the other day and now today my internet provider has an outage so I can’t play still. I would totally understand for an online multiplayer game but one of the main reasons I love GT is I should be able to just turn on and drive by myself, but that isn’t the case with GT7. Expand

I have no issue with microtransactions in general, but in this case it feels like I paid full price to access an expensive online GT7 car store (buying two high end cars is more expensive than the game itself!). The only way round it (I've noticed so far) is a looooot of grinding. Also you must be connected to the internet to play the single player, and the servers must be up or you only have access to a very limited part of the game.

I'll change my score if the developer listens to the fanbase and changes things, but this absolutely killed the nostalgic, otherwise high quality, gran turismo experience for me and leaves me feeling like I've been duped.

Unreasonable constant online requirement meets long server downtime. Expensive cars and trophy requirements meets low credit rewards. It’s a great franchise turn into an online micro transaction junk with limited content.

    - Always online single player means you can't play your full price game when the servers inevitably go down.

    - Credits from winning races have been severely reduced to push micro transactions.

In this game, your progress is no longer tied to your accomplishments, but rather, the size of your car collection. This in and of itself is not that big a deal, but there's a catch. Oh, you want to add a rare or legendary car to your collection? Be prepared to shell out millions of credits! And the average race payout is in the tens of thousands. This means you have to grind for countless hours just to get a car in each category, let alone complete the set. This actively punishes player creativity. And forces them to either stay bored grinding the same 5 races over and over or open their wallets and buy credit packs on the PS store.

It's obvious that they're preying on people who love this series and cars in general. 1 car can cost over $20 if you get tired of doing the same **** constantly.

This was so unacceptable to them that they nerfed the prize money in an update. What do you think - is it to offer you a “sense of achievement and accomplishment”, or is it to push you towards microtransactions? To buy a single “legendary” car in the game can require $120 USD of real world money, on top of the $70+ USD you paid for the game in the first place. Physics are… questionable. Sounds were acceptable in PS3, but have fallen way behind the likes of Forza. At the time of writing, servers have been down for more than 24 hours which blocks access to 99% of single player content. The only possible justification for always online here is that PD is terrified that you find a way around their microtransactions.

Gran Turismo 7 is a love letter to motorsport history and an impeccable technical showcase. The franchise's traditional formula gets good improvements, but it's still extremely true to its roots. One of the best racing series ever shines spectacularly on the PS5.
