GT7’s career mode is infuriatingly short and linear. You are immediately shown the Café on the map which is where you complete the main career races in the game. You finish these in a completely linear format, winning cars along the way that you will use for following races. In previous titles, you had to make choices, you had freedom. You were only limited by drivetrain or your car, and your skill.

All of the thinking and choice has been taken out. Not only that, its painfully obvious the lineup café menu races were not finished, intentionally or not. It seems like either PD ran out of time to include races that utilize the I-B, I-A, or S licenses... or more likely they were stripped from the game to be graciously given (or sold?) at a later date. Once you get through the café menu and you beat the final championship (which only requires an A license), the credits roll... and that’s it…

One of the “features” of GT7 is closer to real life pricing of most cars in the game. The main take away which leads into the next point is that cars, upgrades, everything costs more money relative to previous entries. For example, an R34 GTR is 400k+ credits.

The design philosophy of this game is heavily influenced to push players towards micro transactions. There is no way to make a decent amount of money per time spent in any race to save up for the more expensive cars. Players had narrowed down 2 races which had the best payout per time spent. Keep in mind, these were the best methods of griding credits, not that they “good” to begin with. At best you were averaging about 96k credits/3.5 minutes = hours of griding a single race to afford one car. As of patch 1.07 they nerfed the payout of those races. Keep in mind, while other gaming “journalists” are towing the line for Sony/PD claiming this patch is fixing a “bug” that players were “exploiting” to farm “lots of credits quickly”, this was simply the most efficient method at the time, even then it was not very efficient. Especially in relation to how expensive cars and parts are in this game.

There is artificial scarcity built in to the dealers where certain cars need a valid “invitation” to purchase which is only valid for a limited time. This mechanic is meant to induce a fear of missing out (FOMO), and to encourage the player to purchase credits with real world money. Also, the legendary car dealership features a selection of cars that are only available for a limited amount of time before they are swapped out, again inducing FOMO.

In previous entries in the GT series, players could sell cars they did not need or want in order to buy something they wanted. Not the case in GT7, you can only permanently remove cars from your garage.

Another hated mechanic has found its way into GT7, the roulette wheel. You gain spins through café menu races, and by completion of daily mileage driven. It is well documented by the GT community that the wheels spins are heavily weighted to nearly always payout the worst prize shown. This mechanic presents itself like it provides an equal chance of giving any 1 of the 5 items. However, nearly always it will happen to land on the smallest sum of credits versus a new car, or a coveted “invitation” to purchase a car at a dealer for a limited time, or even engine swaps.

Engine swaps can only be won through roulette spins. You cannot buy them through the tuning shop like all the other car upgrades.

These mechanics in combination are meant to push the player to purchase microtransactions. For example, if one were to surrender to the microtransaction demons and wanted to buy a 3.5 million credit Ferrari FXX after they got extremely lucky and won an invitation to buy the car within 14 days from the rigged roulette spins, at today’s priced of in game credits at $20USD : 2,000,000 credits, it would cost $35 USD to buy one car……. ONE CAR! And that’s not the most expensive car we’ve seen in game either. A jaguar that is 12M credits, which would be $120 USD…… I think these should be called macrotransations at this point, there is nothing micro about $120

Game-breaking bugs including the 1.06 update changing the dirt tires on rally cars for off road races which made some races impossible to complete for many.

The game is always online and needs to be online to function even for the single player campaign, not just multiplayer.
The physics are great (outside of off-road races), graphics are phenomenal, and the sound design is fantastic. The livery designer is amazing, I have just as much fun designing liveries as I do actually racing. At its very core, GT7 could be a great racing game, if it weren’t for the aforementioned free-to-play-like/gacha mechanics that cripple any longevity this game had.

Greed Turismo 7… between the predatory nature of the economy of the game, the bugs, and the gap of time since the last real GT release, polyphony management should be fired. This is embarrassing to the point of comparison with Cyberpunk. The driving can be good, even great, but thats no excuse - the game is broken and needs to be fixed or Sony should be handing out refunds.

This has the potential to be a great game if some issues are fixed, but in its current state it’s impossible to recommend.
In gameplay terms: there is no focused single player content past the introductory “Cafe” system, which is essentially a lengthy tutorial. Almost every car is prone to far more oversteer than in reality. The AI is poor, and when it crashes into you, you are penalised.

You spend too much time navigating menus, and those menus are not well thought out. Event variety is poor, with almost all single player events being overtaking challenges.
The game also suffers from a highly predatory business model. Race payouts are very poor, and have been reduced further in patches. This is presumably to push you towards the prominently-featured micro transactions, which leave some cars costing upwards of £60 of real money (or hundreds of hours of grinding). The game is also always-online, and therefore unplayable if the servers (or your Internet connection) are down, as they are at the time of writing.

The legacy of Gran Turismo is one that’s held close in the hearts of millions of fans across the globe as well as your own. Polyphony Digital as well as Sony’s other first-party studios is held to a different standard in our gaming industry. History has shown that their work leads the way in quality experiences and fair practices in an era where unfortunately the industry heads in the opposite direction. The current state of Gran Turismo 7 is a mixed bag, on one end you have a technical masterclass on what a first-party racing title should be like. While at the same time leaning heavily into the same toxic practices that other infamous studios and publishers have done of heavily monetizing the insides of fully a priced game, as well as making it online only. All the while slashing the in-game economy and rewards to make it incredibly difficult to amass enough credits to fulfill the game's ultimate vision: Collect Cars. The way it’s currently set up is an egregious cash grab, one that feels unlike Polyphony Digital and Sony Interactive Entertainment’s rich history of quality. We the community wish you would do better to not sink to those low practices of other toxic studios and publishers, and to own up and make changes to the game that will turn its trajectory towards the better.
We want a fair in-game economy that will award us a balanced amount of credits and rewards so we can build our collections.
This as well as taking another look at the online only decision, days like March 17 2022 are a prime example of why this decision will hurt the game in the long run.
As fans of the series and the game we hope you listen and engage with our concerns, we are your community.
The legacy of one of PlayStation's original and iconic series rests always in your hands.

Been playing since the first GT was released, been looking forward to GT7 for so so long, pre ordered for $80 odd or whatever it was. But then I got into the game.
Looks like GT Sport (so play that, this is not worth it)
Got the lowest prize on the roulette on all but one ticket so far. Micro transactions? What are you doing?!? Now the servers are down and I can't even play the game I paid

I guess my bad for not reading anything about the game prior to hitting that buy button, won't be doing that again with PD. It's not so much the money, I just feel let down by a franchise that gave me so much enjoyment in the past. Shame on you PD/Sony, I hope they see the wrong path and turn this game around, but I doubt it.

Making the game require online servers to play single player/story mode is ridiculous. The recent updates have pushed micro transactions by reducing race rewards and the latest server maintenance has lasted 20+ hours at the time of posting. Very disappointing updates to an otherwise amazing game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I had been counting down the days for this to come out. I was so excited for the enhanced graphics, great physics and tons of single player racing to be had - plus the nostalgia of loving gt1 and 2 as the first ever games I played on ps1. After the first weekend, I had almost completed the entire main story of gt7.

The graphics are great. There are many cool cars to be had and lots of tuning to do on each individual car. I loved the courses, they all look good and are fun to race around. I want to love it so badly. I wanted to be racing for hours and hours and enjoying getting deeper into the story and collecting.

But.. there is so much wrong with this game down to basic fundamental planning I’m not sure how they released it in this state. They promised unique engine noises for each car, which proved to not be true. Almost all of the races you do in the entire game are “catch up” races where you start at a rolling start and the AI in front of you is even spaced out. This results in the #1 AI car being turns in front of you even from the beginning. So usually your car has to be much more powerful than the cars your racing or you don’t have a chance. This is not racing.

There are no qualifying races for position? How is that even possible. The game is one of the shortest games I’ve ever played, some of it’s predecessors we’re over 20x longer to complete fully. Licenses on dirt roads or even dirt races in general have horrible physics. Plus plenty of missions/licenses they just forgot to put dirt tires on the cars so it’s impossible to win at this point. The campaign or “cafe menu” system is extremely flawed, mainly it’s designed with very few actual races or championships and the rewards are too easy to collect and telegraphed by making you collect 3 packs of cars in order. Why not make the car collection system random? And you can collect 3 pack sets over time which net you something greater? It’s setup so linear it’s infuriating. Not to mention, the entire campaign at this point is built around the B and A license. Making the license tests for international B, A and super licenses completely useless. You can very easily setup championships and races to do it seems like it was intentionally made to be short, perhaps to focus on microtransaction sales via collecting cars. They turned the game into a car collection game over a racing game. They have now put in tickets where you roll random loot. Totally fine to have loot boxes in the game. But when you make a pay to win option where you can buy coins to just straight buy whatever you want if you use your real money.. that is so incredibly disingenuous towards your loyal fans it’s insulting. At this point, shame on this company for releasing the game in this state - and for planning it out like this in the first place. I will forever remember being disappointed at gran turismo 7 and the last season of game of thrones as the most disappointing things in my life thus far.

Let me progress myself, purchase used cars fix them up grind for more credits and beat the next race series. If I want to go into the history of the cars provide me with the museum in Brand Central like in GT Sport. 2. The micro transactions are disappointing but isn’t the end of the world. What I hate is the “car roulette”. This is insulting. It is not rewarding and leaves accessing particular tuning options to chance. I bought GT because I enjoy the grind caRPG mechanic, why oh why, did they introduce this outrageous fruit machine to the franchise?
    3. Why are there no grid starts or qualifying? I feel like every race I do I’m chasing down the pack as part of an overtake challenge rather than intense racing at each corner. 4. Used cars are the same for everyone (depending on your GT Cafe progress) and it’s frustrating that it doesn’t update every day. You can’t bring something different/unique to the multiplayer lobbies like you could in GT5. 5. The always online requirement ruins this game 100%. Whenever there is server maintenance you can’t play the SINGLE PLAYER game. You’re stuck with boring mini games such as Music Rally which I hate so much. I want to play the £70 single player game when I want not have to rely on the online servers to be available to authorise me to play my game. And now we have a worst case scenario in play with these systems where the servers have been done for an extended period of time, the game has become unplayable. Why? Single player should not be affected by any online services at all and it raises a big question: what happens when in 5 years time the GT7 servers go EOL? Will that disable all copies of GT7 around the world? I still play my copies of GT2 and GT4 today. I expect to be able to play my copy of GT7 again in 15 years time.

Wait for Polyphony to remove DRM against Single player before considering this game.

However this game is held back terribly by it’s need to always be connected to the internet to play the single player races and the absolutely god-awful grind that is very clearly pushing you towards using micro-transactions and real money to buy the cars already in the game. This feels absolutely scummy and very disappointing to see from a full price console games. This is the cumulative result of devs who pour their heart and soul into a game only to have the higher-ups force grubby micro-transactions to pad their bottom line and line the executives pockets. Not to mention they have been patching the game to make it more of a grind after already purchasing the game. Bad move PD, bad move. Good game, held back by scummy sales tactics.

Graphics are great and gameplay is good, however, this game requires an always online connection, even for single player mode. In addition, the developer is pushing micro transactions and making it difficult with every update to be able to earn in game credits. Even if you purely grind, it'll take you upwards of 10 hours (just doing the same event over and over) to afford but one of these cars. Also in the most recent update changes were made to make grinding take even longer, a disgustingly cynical move showcasing the greed currently infecting the gaming industry.

The event list and career mode are barren to say the least, a fraction of the races that were available even in the particularly underwhelming GT Sport 'career mode', with numerous tracks not selected for a single race, and whole categories of cars (GR.2; GR.1; classic racers; Vision GT cars) not given any races, almost as if the developers forgot they existed despite a Vision GT car being on the box art!

Engine swaps are in the game... although the caveat being they are only attainable through a lottery ticket system. This system has 6 tiers of ticket, with 1 of 5 prizes available in each ticket. You get one ticket a day.... that's it. You cannot pick your prize, and engine swaps are only available in the top 3 tiers of tickets. This means you only have a 50% chance of even SEEING an engine swap in the draw, and if you do it's only a 20% chance of aquiring one. I cannot fathom how anyone thought this was a good way to give you content.

GT7 has cemented itself as the worst GT title to date, and potentially has ruined the franchise and reputation of the developers in the process.

I can look past the always-online requirement though. as it allows for some cool features such as the friends time board - I don’t even look at the golden time, the most important thing is to do it even quicker than my friends!
As a fan of this series since the first GT, it saddens me to say that if they keep up this imbalance between race rewards and cost of cars and upgrades (the prices are just ridiculous!) while pushing to sell you credits, where the player is always struggling to buy the next car or upgrade it, despite the awesome drivability and graphics, GT7 is a game to play for a little while and then forget about it. However, after Polyphony Digital released the 1.08 patch over this weekend, I feel like most of my interest in this game has faded away.

Now, the servers being down and the game not really being playable offline is something I can live with. It’s a flaw for sure, but not a big one if you ask me. The changes with the economy and the credit pay-outs are what feels like a real slap in the face to me. For the total 18 race events, only 2 received a credit-buff. The rest have been nerfed so much that the general time it takes to make credits in this game has been doubled, at least…

It’s painfully obvious that this has been done in an attempt to make it even harder for players to collect cars and push them towards the microtransactions. It’s such a shame that it all developed into this. The 1.08 patch truly cripples the entire game and the experience that it offers, or should I say “offered”. I find it funny that this happens now, two weeks after the launch when all of the official reviews are already out.

    1) There is ZERO reason for this game to require a constant internet connection. If people want to play online then let them play online, but the single player should not require you to have an internet connection. Make single player games offline again!
    2) The game's economy is broken. Kaz constantly talks about wanting the economy to be reflected to real life, well why is nitrous 100k? why are racing tires 40k? The payouts in this game are an absolute joke and the constant microtransactions popping up in your face is a really punch in the gut for those of us who think a $70 should not have microtransactions (this isn't a free to play game).

Besides those 2 points, there are smaller nuances here and there but nothing else is more major than points 1 & 2. All in all I am very unhappy with the direction that Sony is going. The fact that they allowed this in their game is appalling

Based on the 25th Anniversary addition on the PS4. £89.99 in the U.K.

    Positives:
-Good ‘car’ rewards for races in the café segment of the game.
-Great gameplay and attention to racing detail as usual from the GT series.
-Good development as you progress through the café challenges.
    -Nice additions to moding etc.

    Problems:
    - Great ‘half’ of a game. 9 out of 10 for the half a game that is currently here (not including micro-transactions). 9 divided by 2 (for only being half a game) = 4.5 out of 10. Then you have to minus at least 2 (per half game) for the broken game economy. This means what should be 9 out of 10 game ends up at around 2.5 out of 10 (at the moment)! I do have hope that Sony and Polyphony will address problems in future patch releases.

-Cost of cars, upgrades, moding, etc as a ratio to winnable credits. People are saying they have a problem with these ‘micro-transactions’. I would say they are just ‘transactions’ at this point, there is nothing ‘micro’ about them! As an example: to get a GT vision car (of most car brands) it usually costs 1 million credits. If you wish to skip the grind and buy this then 2 million credits cost £15 (in the U.K). That is £7.50 of real money for a digital asset that is 1 out the 425 odd cars available. Added to this is the fact this ‘asset’ will then become obsolete when the next game is released. It’s not like your cars roll over to the next game or you ‘own’ that digital asset as an NFT or something of the like. If you do wish to grind then lets say you race the GT-R race on the Tokyo Expressway for 40,000 credits. (I have found this to be an efficient race to acquire credits). If you get a clean race bonus then this = 60,000 credits. This race takes roughly 8 minutes to complete (4 laps at around 2 minutes each). You would have to do this race 17 times to afford a GT vison car. That is 136 minutes of players lives. What happens then if the car you have bought stinks?

-Not being able to test drive cars before buying. When you have grinded for far too long and buy a dud of a car it is even more demoralizing and frustrating that credits are so hard to come by. Being able to test drive cars will stop this. A car will still feel special and reflect ‘real world value’ as Mr Kazunori Yamauchi said in his statement, but the player wouldn’t have wasted a huge amount of time and credits on cars that doesn’t suit their driving style etc. In real life people test drive cars. Why not here?

-Inability to sell cars. The first GT games had this. If there is not the ability to test drive cars then this is a minimum. Cost of credits (either by time spent or real world cost) x the inability to test a car means you are often left massively frustrated at wasting credits (and thus time) on cars that don’t suit ones driving style. By selling cars you could then at least recoup some of that wasted time/credits.

-Fixed daily ‘rewards’. Why not just give the meagre reward immediately? Why dangle possible winnings and then 90% of the time give the worst one? Just give the reward directly. This just causes disappointment and frustration. If already fixed then just give that ‘reward’.

-B/S statement about patch 1.7/1.8 and wanting to allow people to enjoy all the cars and races. The actual actions of patch 1.7/1.8 completely contradict this statement. IT WAS ALREADY A GRIND before patch 1.7/1.8! Why would you decrease rewards other than to increase real world spend? By decreasing rewards you are making it impossible for most people to enjoy the game. Now the game is more like a job. For a computer game!?! Patrons have forked out both a lot of money and time on a game, A GAME. If this statement from the top leadership is genuinely felt then there is a real disconnect with many fans on how they want to play this game (and maybe all computer games). Mr Kazunori Yamauchi asks people to take a long term view on upcoming additions (which I am sure will be awesome). I would ask is Mr Kazunori Yamauchi taking a long term view of his brand and game? The short term damage this is doing to the game, brand, fanbase etc could be irreparable.

-From an even wider perspective, @Sony have a real issue on their hands. GT (as a Playstation exclusive) is one of the main reasons many people have stuck with Playstation over Xbox (since the PS1 onwards). This added to the PS5 availability debacle and I’m seriously contemplating for the very first time whether to move consoles. I am sure I’m not unique in this feeling. If someone had said this to me a few years ago I would have slapped them. I am a massive Sony PS fanboy, but there is clearly a massive gap in leadership at the top. That, or at the very least a massive disconnect with their customers. One can only think this is for short term profit but to the massive damage to the long term brand and its profitability.

Old review: BAIT & SWITCH. Polyphony Digital (PD) and Sony Interactive have lost all standards and dignity. A week after release, and after reviewers have posted their opinions on the game, PD changed rewards (a.k.a credits) for races to be lower by almost 50%. This makes it virtually impossible to buy any of the high end, unique, and classic cars. Therefore, this will push players to purchase credits with real money. The previous title, Gran Turismo Sport gave players better chance of buying them. It was difficult but still attainable.
Micro-transactions are not forced on players, but are made heavily necessary to even purchase any of the Legend Cars that they advertised heavily. I did not expect that much reliance on micro-transactions considering that I have paid $70 for the game. Shame on me and shame on PD. This will be my last Gran Turismo title purchase ever.

This is the worst Gran Turismo ever. Been a GT Player for 25 years starting on the first one on PSX. I have bought every GT ever since including GT7, The series was always a great game, some better than others but overall always good to play.

Along comes GT7 at the premium price of £70, I am glad I struggled getting a PS5 or I would have pre-ordered the £100 25th Anniversary Edition.

Along comes GT7 at the premium price of £70, I am glad I struggled getting a PS5 or I would have pre-ordered the £100 25th Anniversary Edition. Now where to start.

The first disappoint was during setup when I had to select Performance or Quality for Graphics setting. I wanted quality to start with in order to witness Ray-Tracing but, Ray-Tracing was only enabled in Replay Mode and Photo Mode.

Second disappointment was the woeful User Interface. Go to the Cafe, tap X multiple times to get through the dialogue of Lucas. Then get a Menu and click X multiple time again While dialogue from Lucas was displayed. Thankfully I quickly found a skip option in the settings but that just meant pressing the O button a lot instead of X. You then leave the cafe to go to another part of the UI and repeat the button bashing and repeat. Thankfully the dialogues get less but its a frustration at the start.

Third disappointment, computer AI is very poor, they will run into you if you are on the line they want and 9 times out of ten you will end up in a spin. Only the top 2 cars seem to be any form of a challenge but even they have poor AI.

Fourth disappointment was the bugs introduced in Update 1.06, incorrect tyre choices on Licence challenges. Unable to select dirt tyres on the rally stages and wet tyres on wet challenges. In fact, the tyre issue also had an affect on the main game with Racing Soft tyres giving better grip then full wets in a wet race.

Fifth Disappointment, Update 1.07/1.08. 34 hours downtime due to always online single player game. Reducing payouts meaning Micro Transactions would look more appealing to some and, I still had issues with tyre performance although they tyre issue had been fixed in the Licence challenges.

I decided that all of this within such a short space of the game being launched was reason enough to return the game for a refund. I will pick it up when I see it in a bargain bucket and hopefully the issues are fixed and the game has a lot more content worthy of the original asking price.

    WORST GT EVER

My skepticism has proved to be warranted. What numbered GT game doesn’t have endurance races, a “Like the Wind” race or even B-Spec? This one. It’s essentially an upscaled version of GT Sport with different modes. Towards the end, GT Sport ended up being a great game so I don’t understand why this one didn’t live up to GT legacy. Even simple things were omitted that make the game worse. For instance, since GT4 you could by parts while in a race so that you didn’t have to exit all the way out just to buy a part for a race. Why is this an issue? The game has dynamic weather. That means, if you enter a race and it’s raining and you don’t have rain tires, you must exit the race all the way to the main menu in order to buy the tires for that vehicle. Once you go back in however, it may not be raining and you just wasted $20K. This sucks more as you’ll most likely only win $10K in winnings. The payouts for races are too low. It cost $100Ks to fully upgrade a vehicle. You’ll need to upgrade them because you’ll never win starting 40 seconds back from the leader. So once you’ve put all this money into a vehicle you’ll prob never use it again because you’ll need a different vehicle. Oh yea, you can sell the car for cash either so get your credit card out. Polyphony Digital squandered an opportunity to blow our socks off. It’s great to play once you’re in a race I must say but the overall experience is disappointing and mediocre at best. Wait to buy when the price drops. Expand

    There are so few championchips/multiple-race-events.
There are just too many things that are wrong in GT7 to make it a good game
and to fix that they need to create a completely new game which will never happen.

    ------
    I have to write a re-review about GT7.
    I don't care a lot about the game-economics 'anymore'.

What's really bad is the reacing A.I. and the races themself.
There are almost only rolling starts. Totally bul** and not real racing. No qualifying either.
It's always a catch up game where you finally overtake the 1st one in the last part of the race.
Also at the beginning of a catch up race the 1st could be miles ahaed. How dumb is that, please?
On the way to that you have to fight with utterly stupid A.I. breaking like idiots.
I'm PIT maneuver'ed the whole f** time. The stupid A.I. is often on rails and occasionly reacts 'normal'. That's game in year 2022!

My advice to PD: Stop adding cars and improve the A.I. plus create more campagne based standing start races.
And the most important thing -> Play that game by yourself PD! I can't imagine that that happened in a neutral point of view...

The game would be a 9/10 if it wasn't for a couple of things that completely destroy it and with its current state i don't think it deserves more than 3/10

I spent 80$ on the game to find out that i'm not gonna be able to fully enjoy it without pumping more money into it or not enjoy it at all when there's a server maintenance. Last time the 2-hour planned maintenance extended to 36 hours. During this time none of the single player modes were available to play. I couldn't even look at my cars in the garage. It just allows you to play a quick race with one of the 7 (i think) predefined cars. There's not a single good reason for the offline modes to be not available offline. If they turn off the servers you're left with nothing, no matter how much you paid for the game. Ridiculous.
Lowering rewards for races in 1.07 patch was a final blow to GT legacy. Those weren't lowered by 5-10-20% but by 50-75%. Imagine grinding the same race for 300 times to afford a car now. It's not an enjoyable game anymore - it's a chore.

Furthermore - the campaign mode is really lazy. Every event is a set of 3 races which reward you 1 predefined car per each race - a car which you can't sell. In fact you can't sell ANY car. And every race is the same - you start last in a rolling start and chase up to the 1st place. There's absolutely no variety. Not a single grid start race, not a single drag/drift event, no endurance races, there's pretty much nothing to it, so if you played the first set of 3 races - you've seen the campaign.
AI sucks - they don't avoid collisions and are eager to push you.
The number of available cars/tracks is quite low for a GT game, bit better than GT Sport, but much worse than GT 4,5,6 (i haven't played 1,2,3).
The "lottery" tickets you get are also a joke. It shows you 5 possible prizes, but it's rigged - 90% of the time its the lowest amount of credits that will be rolled (5-10k while cars can cost 10+ milion).
Of course you're asked to spend money on the next ticket after every roll.
Online lobbies suck - can't save settings, or even change the track in a lobby. You're forced to close it and create a second one which takes a while with all the settings.

    On the good side:
Driving physics are good (except for rally races)
    Cars are well-detailed
The moto-culture is treated with a huge respect and no racing game gives that feeling of participation and celebration of motosport.

    But that's about it.

I really wish i didn't buy it. If you're considering a GT game - get a GT Sport - it shares many flaws, but at least it's at a reasonable price.

GT7 is as pushy with microtransactions as your average free mobile game while being an 80$ expense.
    Zero respect to the fanbase

There's absolutely nothing ground breaking about this game. It's slightly better than GTS, slightly. You used to be able to choose cars for the first races from a selection of about 20 cars. Now you have one. Do this and get one. Use that one, now use the next you got as a reward. It's not like anything GT has done b4, and I don't mind changes, but this is just a tutorial that you have zero choices in what car to use. There are no more leagues. You used to be able to play from Beginner League to Endurance. There's zero. Beginner League alone had over 50 races. How many races after the 39 level rails for the tutorial? Ten different race series with an average of three races each. Horrible. I've yet to bring up the fact that they cut race payouts in half so it took longer to farm cars. You used to be able to buy individual cars for between $1 and $5. Now the expensive cars are over 18 million credits. But you can buy 2 million credit packs for $20 each. That means the expensive cars are $180!!!! WTF is that about? They didn't include the credit store in the game until the day of release. That means all of the reviews had zero clue it would cost that much. **** of them and deceitful! Sad to say this is the end of an era for me. There are still a lot of missions, driving licences and such, but I see them more as extra challenges than a real story mode.

So in the end the game will quickly feel empty, over. And with the insane grind needed to obtain rarer cars, I just don't find an incentive to keep playin it. For now. Worth to note that these multi-million cars can't even compete in the world map base events, since Polyphony Digital is yet to add races for Classics, Group 1 cars, etc...

All in all, I feel like it's a game with a good potential, a solid base gameplay, but dramatically lacking in content, to the point that I'm just expecting the developers to genuinely finish it to make it a playable, and lovable "car culture" game like it's supposed to be, not a cash grab.

Been a big fan of Gran Tourismo since GT2, played and collected all the versions. In fact this is the only video game I play full stop. Couldn’t wait for GT7 after the big disappointment of Sport, I don’t play online. I just like the various races and of course the cars. Still reckon GT3 was in my opinion the best in relation to races, tracks and cars. I miss the ability to qualifyBeen a big fan of Gran Tourismo since GT2, played and collected all the versions. Still reckon GT3 was in my opinion the best in relation to races, tracks and cars. I miss the ability to qualify before the race, I miss some of the old tracks ie Midfield Raceway. I still like GT7, the graphics etc. but some things drive me mad! The length of time for pit stops! Cars that cost you a million dollars and they are crap or you can’t use them in any races. What the hell happened to the menu races, just stopped?? Cars that cost Squllions of dollars and they are useless in races. The rotation stars where 99% of the time you ALWAYS get the lowest possible prize. Wish I could get the three gold bars JUST ONCE!! Opposition cars on hard racing tyres in the wet that go better than you when you’re on intermediate or wet tyres????? I still love the game but the developers need to get back to basics and look at the things that made the game great which was GT2 and 3 and don’t overthink it. Not everyone plays online. Lastly, not everyone has a racing wheel, I just use the standard controller. Make cars a little easier to handle when using this. Rant over!! Expand

ok , This isnt a bad game , but its not brilliant either. Several things let it down. I dont have a problem with "always online" so not a deal breaker for me. But the Grind is just crazy , i mean you even have to play the game for a few hours to even unlock multiplayer!! i mean come on man , that should be available from the off.

Im down grading this game i gave a 7 at first , but im

Im down grading this game i gave a 7 at first , but im fed up with the grind , and the single player campaign is a joke , totally bored with this game after a couple of weeks .. dont buy it until its on sale

Also custom race is a joke. You cant pick what cars you want in your race , you can only pick from certain groups of cars. It seems only what you have unlocked. Its so poor. I actually play GT Sport for custom races. Also the missions are incredibly hard , you'll really stuggle on alot of them to get gold, far harder than GT Sport. Same for licences.

The Ai is rubbish , Ive read stuff about the Ai being far better than GT sport well it isnt , I t struggles to realise you are there and will quite often just keep moving into you until you spin out , plus you cant make them spin at all , they act tanks sometimes.

Get this game but in a sale.

I'll give it a 2 because it's a very slick and fun to play racing game on the surface, and I've personally enjoyed taking a slower pace. I'm not particularly obsessed with pursuing any great goals other than completing my daily "workout", which is a hilarious thing to call it.

However, it becomes apparent after your first dozen "roulette tickets" that, under the surface you are playing a gambling game, and the house and the economy are both stacked against you. After 30 or so roulette tickets, constantly getting the absolute lowest sum possible, you realize that these tickets are a slap in the face, they imply there's one in five spin happening, but really it's rolling a 100-sided die, and unless you roll a perfect 1, you ain't getting squat. Once you learn more about the game's economy, and the designers' plans to make this a game of the haves and the have nots where the cars of our dreams are reserved for the wealthy (whether rich in time to grind, or real-life money, he says he wants those cars to be as unattainable in the game as they are in the real world). Shame on this obvious cash grab. It's a two-star game as it is, until they seriously re-evaluate the game economy I don't recommend.
TLDR; TELL LUCA HE CAN GET STUFFED.

It’s amazing how hard the game tries to coax people into paying more money for cars. For a game they already bought full price. The crappy roulette and the invitation system are so ridiculously manipulative, it’s like Sony and PD don’t even care anymore. Their greed level is through the roof.

Also, always online for single player is a bad idea. They say it’s to weed out the cheaters, but we all know it’s mostly to protect their scammy little virtual car business.

Gran Turismo 7 has a lot of good and plenty of great. The use of DualSense and the particularly well-tuned loading is exemplary, and there's a huge amount of work behind the game, with a lot of detail that's almost hard to believe at times. [Issue#318]

Gran Turismo 7 brings to the tracks every single thing fans always wanted: the GT Mode everyone loves, plenty of customization options, car loads, classic scenarios and one of the best DualSense and 3D Audio experiences the PS5 has to offer. This is the best Gran Turismo experience we have ever seen in a long time.

Gran Turismo 7 is a love letter to motorsport history and an impeccable technical showcase. The franchise's traditional formula gets good improvements, but it's still extremely true to its roots. One of the best racing series ever shines spectacularly on the PS5.
