    I love the game I love how they made it where u can control Atreus I do feel his part of the game in jotunheim was a little bit long but I enjoy the story and how Kratos finally accepts Atreus going on to help the giants at the end

    A great game overall. You can clearly see how effort was put to this game. It's truly a masterpiece in the action genre. However, I found the story to be a little bit rushed. Some parts didn't make a lot of sense and felt like they were there for the story to continue. I definitely recommend it though.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The only metric which can cover this incredible level of perfection is „OMG per second“! I can recommend to play the first title to get fully immersed by the story. You won’t need it but it’s a direct successor of the first title. The visuals, the soundtrack and audio concept, the dialogues and cutscenes, the world and character design, the gameplay, the story concept, the game UI - just everything is one of the best in it’s class. It’s an unbelievable masterpiece in every second from start to finish. Santa Monica Studio is the most professional game manufacturer in this world (besides Naughty Dog and Guerilla Games). You just don’t need more reasons to get a Playstation. Don’t listen to any of the bad ratings here, they never played the game by sure. And we all know why they never played it, just because they can’t.

    Everything was so perfect, but the final scene just pushed me out of this world, it is the most emotional moment I’ve seen in a video game since a decade, probably of all time. It’s truly heartbreaking. A video game which makes me cry is something which is really rare and there is no handful of games which ever could achieve it within 30 years of playing games. To fully understand you will need to play the predecessor. I’ve enjoyed every second of this game so much and I can’t wait to continue this journey. Thanks a lot    … Expand

    The most surprising aspect is simply how much the game has evolved while still remaining very much a God of War game. It is very good.

    An evolution to the formula created by GoW. Why they do these games where you are not free at all in a Nordic world? You can see stunning reigns but 20% of them are explorable and the story is a bit rushed at the end. This game is sufficient enough to give you 30hrs of button smashing experience and your son telling how to solve riddles.

    FF16 battle exceed GoWR, the Ekions boss fights put the final arc Ragnarok into a shame. It's just a better choice in 2023 if you enjoy action cinematic game.

    Great sequel from a great developer, the game is easily the GOTY for me. Kratos development and characterization as well as his control over his rage are highlights of the series. Can't wait for what the future holds for Kratos

    This is one of the most solid sequels out there though it feels like it could have used a trilogy instead. The combat is better than the last one and there is way more enemy vareity. The story is deep and very good the performance of the game is phenomenal barely any lag or bugs.     It's a great game with a better story than the first game. A cinematic masterpiece. I don't like cutscenes in games, but I watched all cutscenes carefully and lovingly in this game.

    The game is an absolute wonder in terms of world crafting and beauty in graphics. The characters are very well done and the story is absolutely intriguing from the start. The combat is much like its predecessors but with a lot more combos and experimenting. That said however, there are glaring issues in the story which show signs of lazy writing and rushed story beats. That said however, there are glaring issues in the story which show signs of lazy writing and rushed story beats. Many plot points and details from the first game are never expanded upon in this game and many character motivations (mainly Freya) are quickly abandoned for story convenience. Many major threats and enemies like Odin or Thor whose immense power is alluded to in the first game, are lackluster and boring. This game's narrative simply could not live up to the hype and worldbuilding its predecessor built for it. The ending, While I won't get into too much conveys this perfectly. The time travel story element is never expanded upon is just an a**pull and the entire ending sequence boils down to a blackout, where you the player do not get to see anything. The combat is more fleshed out and gives you a lot more experimentation. That said, however, coming from the previous game's uninteresting enemies and most notably the absence of cool finishers and set pieces (think the god of war 3) God of war Ragnarok does not address these issues either. One thing I greatly wish they improved upon was exploration. Exploration is largely the same, while the levels are more fleshed out, they are empty and void of any interesting characters apart from the same souls providing fetch quests and the enemies of course. Some side bosses do have a sliver of that energy found in pre reboot God of war. Needless to say, If you did not like the combat in the previous game, there is not much for you here in God of War Ragnarok. Lastly, this game is clearly a PS4 game. Looking at exclusive PS5 games like Demons Souls or the new Final Fantasy 16, this game pales in comparison. The art direction is wonderful, cinematography and dialogue are great, but ultimately this game was a victim to what the notion it's predecessor built for it. In conclusion, God of War Ragnarok showcases impressive world crafting and graphics, but suffers from lazy writing, rushed story beats, and unexplored plot points. The lackluster enemies, disappointing ending, and unchanged exploration further detract from its overall experience. While the combat sees some improvements, it fails to reach the level of excellence set by its predecessor and other exclusive PS5 titles.… Expand

    In 2023 we're not used to this linearity. Feels like walking through a tunnel with too much storytelling. Also, the puzzles are based on luck in finding the solution, not intelligence. Very, deeply boring

    This was my pick for 2023 GOTY, but respectfully Elden Ring deserved it. Engaging story with everything great from the 2018 game. Love this game from beginning to end.

    As always, santa monica studio delivered a masterpiece :)
    Though it didn't impact me as the first one, it is still very good.
    The combat system has been improved and is more varied. But the absence of QTE was a real shame.
    The story is very good but too bad it didn't go deeper for some side characters we met in the game, this could have been more interesting.

    Copy paste from the first god of war on ps4, this is just boring , i haven't finish the game and won't finish it.... even if the story is fine,but were are the new thing ? the weapons ? the combos ? This is a shame that this game as such a big score .... realy disappointing

    Ragnarök completely forgets what made GOW 2018 narrative so good - it was minimal but effective at telling a very personal story. This one tries to be epic but it's completely unfocused. For most of the game there is no clear goal or objective, the heroes just roam different realms doing errands, wondering what's next and where they should even go. And yeah, Ragnarök is coming... I guess. Kratos is a passive passenger in his own game, the rest of the characters are either a complete letdown (Tyr) of annoying (Atreus).

    Gameplay is fine but it's wasted on trite mission objectives & linear level design. The game was supposed to be semi open-world but for most of it you're on a extremely linear path either in a straight corridor, combat room or just meandering, listening to endless exposition. Combat and enemies get really repetitive real fast. I don't recommend playing the game on higher difficulty modes. It's very poorly conceived - hard mode is more of a chore rather than challenge. The enemies become damage sponges and most get "super armor" (they don't react to stuns, staggers, juggle starters, etc). At some point I just changed it to normal:/

    It blows my mind that this game is getting so many 10/10s and being labeled a "masterpiece". It's an extremely flawed title - the story sucks, the game is very linear and overly simplistic in its design, constantly taking agency away from the player.     Un juego que parece una película, la nueva integración de esta nueva cultura hace expander este universo de una forma potencial, gran gameplay y gráficos de nueva generación, muchas misiones secundarias y un juego bastante largo, es lo que te espera en esta nueva entrega del dios de la guerra y su hijo Atreus.

    A really good addition to the god of war franchise but in my opinion not as cohesive as God of War 2018. Still a great game nevertheless. But its a little woke and awkward in some parts and the ending could've been more fleshed out. At least Kratos is as bad ass as ever!

    One of the best games i have played so far the graphics plus the story it has everything.it looks exceptional in 4k 60fps. i wish I could forget the story somehow so that I could once again feel like I am playing the game for the first time .it's just magnificent and as a god of war fans of the previous games this just takes it up a notch.

    Changing my review. Before i stated that it's the exact same game. Boy was i wrong! What an incredible journey it has been. I have never in my life encountered such an amazing story. No movie, book or any other video game comes close to the story of God of War. This is simply amazing and i cannot express it in words. The only way you can understand is to play this masterpiece.

    What did they do to God of War? The combat is like a watered-down version of the previous titles. The story and dialog are boring, which I can deal with but they decide to drag it out more and more and more. God of War is supposed to be an epic hack n slash action game where to story is just dumb fun, not this CW drama and B-tier soulborne combat

Se nota una evolución con respecto al god of war de 2018 en todos sus aspectos, y se ve muy bien y fluido en una ps4 pro. Definitivamente, uno de lo los mejores juegos que he jugado.

    Amazing game. Gameplay makes you feel like you’re really a god of war once fully upgraded. Story is great as well although I felt it was a bit rushed, but regardless the story flows well building upon all of the characters throughout the story. There are lots of highlights throughout the games story that shows how much the time the writers spent on this and overall I was satisfied with theAmazing game.     anche il gameplay mi ha a tratti annoiato , tuttavia questo è un elemento del tutto soggettivo .

The characters are masterfully done with thor and odin making a hell of an impression when we first meet them. The combat feels fresh and new while still retaining the amazing feel of the previous game. Each realm is unique in colors, style, lore, monsters, themes, and puzzles. This is not the Ragnarok story that was set up by 2018 and there are many people who have come to this conclusion. The new characters introduced in this game dont feel like they are from the same universe as the characters in 2018. Baldur, Modi, and Magni are all very serious and well written characters that don't feel nothing like thor, odin, or any of the Nasgard characters. It's the same feeling of going from The Incredible Hulk and the first Iron Man film to the Avengers. For this reason and many more inconsistencies in writting, the story is nowhere near as memorable or polished as GOW from 2018.… Expand

    A truly amazing game, great graphics, fun combat and an interesting story. The characters are well developed with deep and interesting back stories. The voice acting is also magnificent, my only real problem with this game is that there tends to be a frustrating amount of invisible walls and the time to load between realms is frustratingly long.     I had really high expectations after a glorious re-entrance in this franchise after god of war (2018).
    God of War : Ragnarok did not disappoint, almost every single part of the game was near perfect, from music , sound design , level design to gameplay.

    Everything this game did, they did in God of War (2018) better, except for the gameplay which was one of the better ones I played, the story made more sense in GoW 2018 the characters were more loveable, in God of War Ragnarok it felt forced.
    Overall I would recommend this game if you are a fan of God of War series or if you are looking for something great, but I would recommend playing God of War (2018) first.    … Expand

    GOW : Ragnarok n'a fait que zigzaguer entre le jeu "OK mais sans plus" et le "très bon", que ce soit dans tous les domaines, la narration, les combats, les énigmes, les quêtes secondaire etc... Ce qui fait que, j'ai eu du mal avec ce jeu d'une licence légendaire du jeu vidéo.

    Les 2 premières heures étaient délicates, on à donc un Kratos "rebooté" sans aucune compétences ou runes, juste    GOW : Ragnarok n'a fait que zigzaguer entre le jeu "OK mais sans plus" et le "très bon", que ce soit dans tous les domaines, la narration, les combats, les énigmes, les quêtes secondaire etc... Ce qui fait que, j'ai eu du mal avec ce jeu d'une licence légendaire du jeu vidéo.

    Les 2 premières heures étaient délicates, on à donc un Kratos "rebooté" sans aucune compétences ou runes, juste les coups basiques, et donc les combats sont... fades, sans presque aucun intérêt et limite on les voit plus comme une sorte de pause malvenue dans un récit qui à eu de la peine aussi à me captiver au début, ce n'est qu'à la SPOIL que j'ai commencé à réellement jouer. Les combats s'améliorent au fur et à mesure de déverrouiller des compétences, mais une fois avoir le tour de tous ça, on retombe un peu dans l'ennui, sans compter avec cette couche de RPG sur tous les éléments qui n'amène qu'un désintérêt de ma part pour le nouveau loot, y'en à de trop... Passer 15 minutes à lire les passifs, les stats et les comparaisons pour finalement refaire tous ça car on à du nouveau loot au chapitre suivant, c'est chiaaaaaaaant

    Pour être plus précis sur la narration, quelques fois j'étais envouté entre les relations entre personnages, je voulais suivre absolument la relation Atreus-Kratos, mais ça Tyr(lol) tellement en longueur, à chaque fois qu'on pouvait avoir une révélation côté Kratos et Atreus, c'était coupé par un événement dans le jeu.
    Et j'ai ce sentiment que l'écriture est devenu plus "grand public", il y a trop de manque de sérieux en fait, on à pas cette sensation d'être à l'aube d'une grande guerre et du Ragnarok mais SURTOUT, il y a trop de facilité scénaristique : SPOIL , il y a même un moment où Kratos lui même dit que tout est "trop facile", comme si les scénaristes savaient eux-même que c'était cousu de fil blanc et qu'ils l'ont interpréter avec Kratos,
    Bien évidemment, quelques fois, c'est superbe :SPOIL c'est ce genre d'écriture cruel qui donne de la crédibilité à cette univers, le fait d'affronter des personnes aussi puissante qu'Odin et Thor doit mettre la pression aux joueurs sur le fait que tout tiens à un fil.

    Parlons côté ludique, le jeu utilise une formule connus des AAA narratifs, c'est efficace, mais ça ne surprend plus, faire de l'exploration avec un brin de causettes, faire une phase de combat, faire de la grimpette et parler, refaire un combat, faire une énigme bateau, cinématique et pouf, chapitre fini, maintenant on refait ça jusqu'à la fin, c'est vu et revu, ça commence à faire vieux tous ça en 2022.

    Les zones ouvertes : Alors niveau visuel c'est impeccable, la DA est diversifié et sublime, les graphismes sont très propre, c'est détaillé, parfois un peu trop car on ne sait plus ce qui est le décor et le chemin à traverser, mais bon tout ceci insuffle une vie, une personnalité à chaque zone ouvertes du jeu, parcourir ce monde fait réellement plaisir pour l'oeil, mais pour les mains...
    C'est très cloisonné, tout parait petit, on à l'impression d'être sur une autoroute avec des zones d'arrêt d'urgence pour y faire notre énigme ou notre combat qui ressemblent trait pour trait à ceux de la quête principale, et surtout, c'est exactement les même choses dans TOUTES LES ZONES, aucune prise de risques n'est faite, jamais le jeu vous récompensera de votre curiosité en vous proposant quelque chose de différent de l'habitude

    On nous propose aussi d'incarner Atreus parfois, alors c'est cool, ça change le gameplay, les relations avec les autres persos, bien qu'il rencontre tellement de personnages différents qu'on à jamais le temps de s'attacher à cette relation, mais les changements sont trop nombreux et trop brusque, on vient de s'emmerder à optimiser notre Kratos, prêt à tester nos nouveaux atouts et pouf ! T'incarne 2h Atreus, qui est bien moins intéressant que son père vu qu'il à 3x moins de compétences.

    J'ai pas assez de lignes pour finir, mais sachez que ce soit quêtes secondaires ou énigmes, c'est à chaque fois le même constat : c'est bien mais à chaque fois ça manque de qqch qui l'empêche d'être très bien voir excellent.

    GOW : Ragnarok se repose trop sur ses acquis de 2018, respecte le cahier des charges sans prendre de risque, sans faire trop d'effort légèrement révolutionné un domaine de sa formule, et c'est décevant car c'est l'une des plus grande licence de Sony.    … Expand

    Bugged out after a death without having the option to interact with required function and so I had to reset the game several times.

    The combat is soggy and unenjoyable outside of the easiest difficulty for the lack of controls to parry from behind and ruins the fluidity of the game. The story is lackluster and exorbitantly long and drawn out in excessively uninteresting sections.     It is just boring. Puzzles are boring, fighting is boring, dialogs are boring and you can't hear all story because every time when you make some action you hear "let's continue in next time".

But while I was expecting a righteous hack'n'slash paired with a gripping narrative similar to the 2016 reboot, I was unprepared for one of the most powerful and resonant meditations on grief, parenthood, and the true toll of violence, of ourGoW: Ragnarok is not a *perfect* game. Backtracking can be frustrating, parrying can be frustrating, difficulty spikes can be frustrating. And so on. But while I was expecting a righteous hack'n'slash paired with a gripping narrative similar to the 2016 reboot, I was unprepared for one of the most powerful and resonant meditations on grief, parenthood, and the true toll of violence, of our time. This is not just a phenomenal game, but one of the best stories I've ever experienced.

    EDIT: Bumping the score down due to the awful endgame. I can't even fathom how horribly the Muspelheim Trials are designed, requiring repeating trials ad nauseum to derive specific rune combinations (the game does not explain this at all, btw.     Let me start with the positive things:
    The games combat is amazing, it just expanded on an already good combat system. The story was very decent and most of the characters were awesome. They improved the Leviathan axe and the blades of chaos and added an fine enough side weapon the runic was fun to use. The and the design of the characters and the world is so beautiful. Asgard was a bit of an let down but still was awesome, and it was the same thing as Ragnarök itself. It was underwhelming but awsome at the same time. Nearly all of the Bosses were awesome they were at the same level as gow 3. And the Atreus mission after ironwood was pretty nice. Also all the different sheilds was also awsome.



    Negative things:
    Let me talk about the elephant in the room first, Ironwood was **** even though if it did had a decent boss fight and the realm itself looked nice, its so nice that i seriously want to live there. But anyway Ironwood gave us everything bad about gow (2018) and expanded on it, long walks and talks and it should have been way shorter than it should have been. The seriously made us pick up roots and **** berries!, And to make it worse they forces us to go down to a **** cave to kill those little **** monster for **** paint. And the first mission as Atreus was also boring, but atleast it didn't uneccasearly drag on. And the runic while although fun to use didn't feel that powerful and downgraded the old ones. And sometimes enemies gets these sheild that they can"t be stunned no matter what, it was fine in the last because it only had one enemy that couldn't be stunned and it was great to fight and still is, and it is the traveler.

    But overall i Don't really mind those things because everything else is an improvement to an already great god of war game.

    And this is a great **** game, but it also fell flat with Ragnarök and the story while at the same time being very. And to expand Ragnarök they could atleast have a boss fight the dragon in Ragnarök, but i still liked the event.

    So i give this game a 9.5/10.    … Expand

    the graphics are incredible, voice acting is great, music is incredible, art direction is solid, and the gameplay is pretty good...but what matters most to me is story, and this one is trash. the writers simply don't understand the ideas they're working with, and it all falls apart at the end. there are a lot of lazy/sloppy character moments and plot contrivances, but the most egregiousthe graphics are incredible, voice acting is great, music is incredible, art direction is solid, and the gameplay is pretty good...but what matters most to me is story, and this one is trash. the writers simply don't understand the ideas they're working with, and it all falls apart at the end. there are a lot of lazy/sloppy character moments and plot contrivances, but the most egregious part is how the whole thing is centered around one major plot hole that ruins the story of both this game and the 2018 one.… Expand

    Finished God of War Ragnarok on PS5. It was really good all around. Took me around 44 hrs to finish.

    I can't help but tip my hat to the entire Santa Monica team. The deeper you delve into the game, the more you'll be drawn into the stunning story of a father and son against the backdrop of perhaps history's most horrific war. Throw in some casually endearing humour, great and fluid gameplay, and wrap it all up with an amazing audiovisual experience. [Issue#323]

    Thanks to an amazing cast that’s doing an outstanding job, a compelling story told through the eyes of multiple characters, and top-notch combat, this epic and heartfelt journey strikes all the right chord. It’s impossible not to recommend God of War Ragnarok, but just in case you had any doubts, I strongly advise anyone mildly interested in gaming to play Santa Monica Studio’s latest masterpiece.
