The game was ruined by updates that are only meant to make the game more of a grind and keep people playing longer artificially. All fun has been removed.

Boring, no real content, multiplayer doesn't really exist (no matchmaking). This game is incomplete.

As soon as a player gets strong blizzard just needs the class. Even the market is bad it’s not free and they try to control everything in the game why don’t they just okay it for us too? You will grind 100s of hours to try and min/max a build only for the developers to ninja nerf your progress. Items on your character will actually be rolled to other stats/skills/%. Sticking with one build is very difficult for the average to above average player. All nerfs will be based on streamers who have all BiS. Congrats, your Shako was just upgraded to a Tarn.

It was fun an engaging to start with. Classes had many builds to choose from making them all feel unique. Blizzard decided to put all the good and bad things into a blender and turned it into a thick, disgusting paste they called Patch 1.1. No one wants it now and for the most part it makes people sick.

Unfortunate L for the one of the most nostalgic RPG series of a generation.

To start off, I've played Diablo 1, Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 in extensive time frames. Well over 4,000 hours in each game. Unfortunate L for the one of the most nostalgic RPG series of a generation.

To start off, I've played Diablo 1, Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 in extensive time frames. Well over 4,000 hours in each game. Diablo 2 was my most played game, where I'd have to gauge it's somewhere between 20,000 and 25,000 hours.

Diablo 4 makes you feel like you are barely keeping up with the difficulty curve and is very contingent on your skills and gear. If you do not put the proper point in the proper skill for your build using the gear you find, you'll find the monsters have become harder when you level. It's "match level" scaling can be an absolute hinderance to people who do not know what build to run or have not found the gear/legendary aspects to create the build.

The game has many problems from bugs and exploits to developers who actively work to lower the fun of the game. If one were to ask me if they should buy this game, I'd tell them wait 2-3 years (Diablo 3's timeframe from release to an acceptable game). I have nothing to tell these people as I have to be honest and I cannot just sit there and assume these developers will make any meaningful changes the community has been very vocal about. They have their vision to make money off of us and they aren't willing to change that in the slightest.

The reviews from game companies are clearly paid reviews or they played 1-25 and thought the game was gonna be that fun throughout. Levels 1-50 is where the game feels completed. Post 50 the game is a grindfest with constant nerfs to loot by the developers. The developers in this game have a vendetta against it's players that play it harder than anyone else because those players found the holes of content that was non-existent. The game is for now, a lost cause.

It pains me to say it, I am a huge fan of the Diablo series. Diablo 1 was great, Diablo 2 was it's peak, Diablo 3 was showing cracks in Triple A publishers armor and Diablo 4 is the full collapse of the series. Hacking and slashing through demons is great, but when the monster variety never changes and the dungeon boss variety never changes, you feel like the last dungeon is the same as the one you're doing now.

I put 14 days of gameplay into the game since release and I have not touched it since July 7th. They told us there was a big patch coming on July 18th, two days before the Season 1 launch. They nerfed everything. It was worse than I could've ever imagined. They nerfed all top end damage buckets and multiplicative damage types because they are worried top players will beat the content too fast yet again and realize their Season 1 mechanics are not good either and right back to a lowered playerbase they will go and nerfed all defensives by 50%! They made getting through the game more tedious than launch by nerfing EXP where you have no choice but do Nightmare Dungeons on your character to level, that will just kill you faster because your defenses are nerfed by 50% and if you can't tank them, you have to kill them faster or it leads to more dying - but that is nerfed by 50% on average with some builds seeing upwards of 75% nerfs to the overall damage.

I don't know what their goal is, but this ain't it. Save yourself money. Don't give Blizzard and Activision any more time or effort. The only way this company will change is if the same thing that happened to Diablo 3 happens to Diablo 4. Everyone gets fed up, 3,500 players are left playing then they make some meaningful changes to make the game fun. For now, stay away and just keep an eye on the Microsoft takeover to hopefully fix this abomination.

    Good:
    -Nice graphics, proper aesthetic.

    Bad:
-Every zone is copy/pasted, and looks EXACTLY the same. You NEVER feel like you're anywhere different.
-Every town looks exactly the same.
-Every town has a 50-mile radius around it, where you cant run with the crap horse until you're outside of said radius.
-Game is full of bugs. Endless endless bugs.
-Game has major memory leak that people have reported since the first beta, and is still not fixed.
-Game has persistent sound-bug issue where the voiceover will become bugged with echos and weird dungeon effects applied to dialog, and then never goes away. Not with a reinstall, or anything. Reporting it for months gets no reponse, either.
-Characters are unbalanced beyond words. Tuning them results in ruining them, versus improving them.
-Forced MMO & forced online only play, but then has zero MMO features and nothing of convenience for your forced-experience. You can't even chat with the world, outside of Trade, and they STILL HAVENT ADDED A GLOBAL CHAT. As if this is so unbelievably difficult.
-QoL and conveniences from past games have been just, completely left out of this one.
-Zoom on character is so uncomfortably close it makes you feel weird, and you refuse to add option to zoom out further. It's obvious it can be done, because it's done on horse, and for world bosses, or higher peaks in land. Will you ever address it? Nope.
-What year does it need to be when we are able to party with more than just 4 people like this is a LAN party or pure-console game? I play on PC. In diablo 2, I could have 8 people in a group. This is so utterly annoying and old.
-No room in stash, and can only buy 4 stash tabs. You know perfectly well adding the ability to purchase more is as easy as your ability to nerf %'s on a spreadsheet that controls the game. Just stop.
-Can't simply just 1v1 your friend if you want, must go to FoH and then risk others coming in and ruining your dueling and trolling, and since you can't request to duel outside of FoH.... this is just rudimentary.
-Mount is practically unusable, between having to stop every 10 seconds to climb a cliff, it can barely walk 1 foot forward without hitting every single solitary piece of terrain that there is.
-Every single dungeon is a copy/paste of another. All of these dungeons, yet I haven't been in a single one that has felt different from the next. They literally took the shell of one, and then made it "icy", then copy/pasted it, and made it not icy, then copy/pasted it, and switched the pathways around. It's pathetic.
-If you want any actual updates you're forced to follow these clowns personal accounts on Twitter. So if you want game updates you gotta see PezRadar shirtless and pictures/stories about his "gains journey", and whatever else, instead of actually using or communicating on the forums where everybody is, asking for some acknowledgment. If they don't like your comment on twitter, they block you. Rob Ferguson is the worst. He's 80 years old, and takes everything personally. Has no idea what this generation of gamers wants, he's just another slob like Jay Wilson, telling people what they want because "he knows" and we dont.
-Because they have no end game, or anything else actually fun in the game to do, they made leveling and progression even slower and more miserable, then proceeded to gatekeep the world tiers. Why? No reason, other than to just do the exact opposite of majority-ask and make it more miserable. You know, cause helping friends level up so you can play together is so blasphemous.
-Did I mention the items/itemization is absolutely and utterly horrendous? It's so bad. It's so stupid. 500 useless dumb buckets of things and then the comparison thing, don't even get me started. It feels like a special-education team came up with some of these concepts.
-Item drops: they're trash. They're all trash. And, if you're a cold sorc and you want gear for.... a cold sorc... you aren't getting it. You're getting 90% gear for fire/light. So you literally find the opposite of your build, 90% of the time. It's on purpose too. Odds don't work that terribly.

Games are supposed to bring joy, and fun. The only thing this game does is genuinely infuriate me while playing it, and the experience is miserable. I'm not sure how I even lasted this long. But I feel absolutely zero joy from this game. It feels like a job, not a break *from* my job. Everything's a copy/paste with minor alterations, including the cosmetics. LOL, explain why the sorc has FOUR of the same exact helmets with small differences like a string, or a barely noticeable color change?

    Bravo blizzard.. as usual.

This is the worst game I've paid for in 20 years. I leveled to 100, maxed my char to the best of my ability - and without warning, they completely gutted and changed the entire stats system without any care to the players and how it will hurt their hundreds of hours of play time.

They devs are dismissive, rude and out of touch. Rod mocks anyone who is upset with the game while he continues to drive changes that result with players stampeding away angry with an empty world left behind.

No way to communicate with players despite open world.

No action in the action RPG.

I had a lot of fun with this game at launch, but slowly over time patches have just made every character worse. This culminated in the patch on 7/18/2024, which effectively killed any desire to play their first season. A huge blunder, and I cannot recommend the game in its current state.

There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV — best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.
