    After all the resent sloppy/horrible remakes of late I had no hope for Demon's Souls, glad Bluepoint showed the industry that remakes can be done right!
    Souls... you either love them or hate them.

    Probably the easiest Souls-Bourne game. Graphically it's an absolute masterpiece and if you want to get your feet wet in this series this is best place to start in my opinion.

    Blupoint succeeded at remaking this classic fromsoftware game and improving it for the new audiences. Demon's Souls Remake is a worthy PS5 title, it might not be as modern amd complex as the latest fromsoftware titles but it still does a great job.

    The better you get and as you progress the game gets better and better. I wish I got this on launch date. The graphics are gorgeous, and I am Playing on 60 FPS which is even nicer. Loading times are 4 seconds max, which matters a lot in a game Like this. Honestly even if you are new to Souls games ( like me) give it a    Absolutely amazing game. My first souls game.     I am not sure what else to say other than this game is absolutely beautiful and smooth to play.

    As a massive souls fan I cannot recommend this game enough, the environments and atmosphere are amazing. The combat feels good and build diversity is high My only knock on the game is item weight, I really feel this one thing is just a bad design, I did not play the original but I saw    I am not sure what else to say other than this game is absolutely beautiful and smooth to play.

    The graphics are downright amazing and there are overall improvements on the original game with it being overall more cinematic, some boss fight improvements and making the weaker areas/ environments better than what they once where. My only issue with the remake is the fact it has lost some of its charm it once had. The soundtrack whilst impressive as a score is not very memorable or fitting since all the tracks are mostly orchestral. The original had such good variety in its music and some of the boss soundtracks are totally inferior in the remake. As a result I can't really memorise the music in this game. On the other side of things some places have lost the atmosphere they once had. Not sure if it's the modern graphics or the redesign but this also takes away some of the charm. Overall however it was overall a solid game.… Expand

It was at this moment I realized I must undertake a quest and purge the Metacritic of these Demons.

    I see the Old one, the greatest demon of all, his fog has now reached the gates of our real world and is affecting poor souls in this world. Remember, a hunter is a hunter, even in a dream.

    Let us purge the dross away and begin with The Good.

    Visuals. Demon's Souls for PS5 is an absolute visual feast. The attention to detail is simply breathtaking. Every brick has character and life in it. The fire affects are the most realistic fire effects I have ever seen in a game. The actual character models look like real people and not horrid creatures. One example of great detail is dragon fire breath hitting a wall and starting a banner on fire, and you can watch the banner slowly burning away on the wall until it disappears. And that's just in the background, it wasn't pointed out to the player specifically by the game. It is something a lot of people could miss, but they put that kind of detail and effort into it anyway. The environments look stunning and make you believe this place really exists and truly pulls you into the world.

    The sounds, especially the 3d audio are just as good, if not better than the visuals. The sound effects are absolutely amazing. You can hear the bone crunching on deep hits such as backstabs and ripostes. The audio sounds very crisp and clean. Audio really hasn't sounded next gen until now, just a layer of depth that brings everything to life.

    The controls. The haptic feedback and rumble are great features. Every hit you can feel. But it's the depth of it that is amazing. Hitting a wall with your sword feels a lot more different than hitting metal armor, which again feels different from hitting flesh. You can even feel it when you are running on sand, the controller rumble gives a subtle feeling of running on sand (hard to believe and describe but its there). When enemies are about to throw fire at you, you can feel the rumbling of fire permeating through the controller. Actual controls are very responsive and intuitive as well.

    Performance. Playing this game in performance mode is silky smooth. This game runs at a locked 60 fps, with only very tiny occasional drops to the framerate which rarely ever happen and aren't very noticeable. This game feels like playing butter, if butter was a game in which one could experience. But very smooth gameplay and responsive gameplay.

    Okay now on to the bad. There are a couple things in which I want to address. I personally do not like how some of the menus, text and hud look. It's a personal opinion but I feel it is very generic and doesn't have much "soul". It especially stands out cause the rest of the game looks phenomenal. Some of the voice acting is a little bland. Especially compared to the original. Even when some of the original people were brought back to voice act, some of the iconic lines don't have the same feeling to them anymore. The other thing I want to address is having exclusive content locked behind buying a pre-ordered deluxe addition. One of the weapons especially received is extremely OP with almost no stat requirements and does a lot of damage and has crazy reach. I feel this is wrong to do to players and consumers.

    Other than those things, this game is truly an amazing game. Whether you are new to souls games, a veteran of souls but new to Demon's Souls, or an OG Demon's Souls player, this game is truly an amazing game and worth playing. If you are new to Souls, this game will be a challenge, just a warning. So that's it, I know this review is longer than 2 sentences like 95% of the reviews here. But if you are reading this, it means you have a brain and are choosing to read something a little different. Thank you for reading.

    Overall, a better game than the original, and that's saying something. Though the original holds a place in my heart, the remake will be the one I'm coming back to time and time again from here on out.

    One of the most fine-tuned experiences I’ve had in video games yet. Never really like souls-type games until this. No matter how many times I died I loved getting back in to try again harder and more carefully. Absolutely amazing (and addicting) game.

    the game has a pretty fresh feeling compare to old one .
    visuals , graphic. character creation , some new details, new parry/back step animations for each weapon, fixing glitches and bugs and making masterpiece new soundtracks for bosses puts the game where it deserves . although the pvp system is not a good deal because of dividing players of different regions    Absolutely gorgeous

I see a lot of user reviews stating they ruined the original and absolutely baffled that this game is getting anything less than a 6 by these hardcore originalists, it makes no sense for a game that has kept 98% of things intact. You can tell it wasn't for lack of effort either. The amount of detail and effort on display is staggering.

    With gameplay, I would say it is extremely faithful to the original. To a fault. The core combat is unchanged, in fact it's running the same code from my knowledge. This means that things like instant backstabs are still there, which could have been tweaked. Still, the original's core combat was exceptional and still holds up today. Additions like omnidirectional rolling, faster ladder climbing, limits to healing items you can carry, and a tweaked item burden system are welcome additions that improve the gameplay sandbox.

    Besides some missed opportunities and mistakes, I think Bluepoint knocked this out of the park. I would highly recommend this title if you have a PS5 and any interest in the Souls genre.    … Expand

El estilo artístico también ha mejorado notoriamente teniendo zonas estremecedoras por su paisaje y siendo un juego mucho más bonito que el original de PS3. No se han retocado muchas cosas de la jugabilidad más allá de algunas mejoras de accesibilidad, lo que demuestra el respeto del estudio por esta obra de culto. Pasando al juego en sí, tanto la jugabilidad característica de los souls (con armas, hechizos y formas de personalización que dotan al juego de muchas posibilidades) como el diseño de niveles me ha parecido magistral, y que el juego esté dividido en zonas y que puedas jugarlas en el orden que quieras me ha parecido una gran idea. Los bosses en general me han parecido bastante sencillos pero con mecánicas interesantes. En cuanto a la historia y el lore del mundo, sigue un argumento bastante simple y fácil de entender pero creo que se podría haber explotado mucho más el contexto del mundo y los personajes. La banda sonora me ha parecido muy buena y acorde a la ambientación del juego. Pero para mí el punto débil del juego es sin duda el sistema de tendencias. Me parece absurdo que dependiendo de si mueres mucho o venzas a los jefes tengas una tendencia negra o blanca y te aparezcan enemigos durísimos o se te desbloquee contenido en función de eso. No le veo el sentido y no me ha gustado nada. Aun teniendo en cuenta esto, Demon's Souls es un juegazo y lo recomiendo a quienes les gusten los juegos desafiantes de acción. 8,7/10

    Gráficos perfeitos, jogabilidade excelente, um jogo totalmente refeito mas n acho que vale o preço cheio de 70 dolares, vale a pena esperar uma promoção.

The game shows the full hardware potential of the PS5 and gets my hopes up real high for the future. The only critic i had is the length of game. I completed it in about 16 hours, which isn´t much for a 80€ game. But I have to say that the game has a lot of replayability with the many buildsIt is a very very beautiful game, which hits the perfect difficulty spot for a soulsborne beginner. The game shows the full hardware potential of the PS5 and gets my hopes up real high for the future. The only critic i had is the length of game. I completed it in about 16 hours, which isn´t much for a 80€ game. But I have to say that the game has a lot of replayability with the many builds and playstyles it offers to the player.     So this Remake is just that a remake of the original with a few differences. This game has been fun to play. Its more clear to see in the dark then the original. I have made 3 builds and all are still fun.
    so the reasons it wont get a 10 is because its not done. seems like it being a ps5 game it dose lack some Umff im hoping there will be dlc and we finally get that world.     The dark atmosphere, and the amazing way this game potrays a dead kingdom is utterly amazing. The only thing i would just complain about is the fact that as a newbie, you need to watch on youtube how some things work

    It is a game where you need to choose wisely on how you approach your enemies. Any monster can kill you and you can kill any monster if you are patient enough.

It is part of the game but it would be nice to add small warning before using something that has more use somewhere else. Simply the game is amazing and makes you come back to it every time you die with the fast loading screen, you won’t be quitting easily, but sometimes taking a step back will help you assimilate the strategy needed to defeat certain enemies, the game shines at Performance mode introducing capped 60fps with amazing graphics on PS5.     Demons souls its a great game that shows what the PS5 can do, breath taking visuals and fast loading worlds. its a bit easy at times (some regular enemies are harder than 2 or 3 of the bosses AI needed a update to react faster but that's all the bad things) but i have played and finished all the other souls games. if you love dark souls you'll love this especially if you never played theDemons souls its a great game that shows what the PS5 can do, breath taking visuals and fast loading worlds. its a bit easy at times (some regular enemies are harder than 2 or 3 of the bosses AI needed a update to react faster but that's all the bad things) but i have played and finished all the other souls games. if you love dark souls you'll love this especially if you never played the original demon souls. recommended.… Expand

    si la saga souls te gusto este titulo es simplemente obligatorio para ti

    POSITIVO -la personalizacion mejora mucho respecto a anteriores titulos de la saga -el combate es fluido -los jefes son impresionantes -la ambientacion es buena -el apartado grafico es increible al igual que las texturas NEGATIVO -El precio a dia de hoy es muy alto -probablemente si finalmente es lanzado    si la saga souls te gusto este titulo es simplemente obligatorio para ti

    The remake is so beautiful , the Gameplay could have used some work but i love the fact that they kept it the same, i hope this souls title brings joy to every gamer out there, hope one day it comes to PC.

    Demons souls PS5 is a fantastic game ! I think it respects all the aspects of the original game.

    I didn't play the original. This was my 1st game to buy and play on PS5, and it met most of my expectations. I played it every chance I got and platinumed it after 60 hours. Stunning visuals, great soundtracks and sound system. When the dragon swoops over the bridge the bass booming in my headphones and haptics made me feel legitimately scared. Tower knight fight is something I will neverI didn't play the original. This was my 1st game to buy and play on PS5, and it met most of my expectations. I played it every chance I got and platinumed it after 60 hours. Stunning visuals, great soundtracks and sound system.     Now onto negatives. There isn't much that Bluepoint studio introduced gameplay wise. I wish the world 4 was longer. I only played DS3 from the soulsborne series, so comparing it to DS3 I wish this had a higher replay value, it feels much shorter and there seem to be less builds you can try (I played as a spell sword). As I platinumed it I don't feel compelled to replay it immediately like I wanted with DS3. But I'm holding on to my physical copy because I probably will one day.    … Expand

    This game is truly amazing and I'm glaf it was remade for the ps5. The duelsense controller and graphics truly shine on this one and of course the remade textures, motion capture and cutscenes looked amazing and suited it well. The music and ambience was done really well too.

    Fantastic remake of a classic game that was the starting point for the Souls series. Completely faithful to the original from a gameplay standpoint that now runs extremely smoothly with super quick loading times thanks to the PS5 hardware.     Absulutely amazing Souls game and a great lunch Title. Game Crashed when i died. Could not load the safe game, it maintains to crash. Fix was to delete the safe game and download it back from the backup cloud. (If ps plus member) overall my favourite Ps5 game so far.

    Game is beautiful! Runs buttery smooth is a great play for anyone who enjoys any of the other Souls/Borne games. I never had the chance to play the original but I am so glad they decided to remake it for the PS5. Let's get a Bloodborne Remastered/Sequel next!

    incredible Haptic feedback, graphic and sound design are gorgeus.
    The new animations are outstanding and make difference between each weapon, giving them an identity.
    For a launch game on ps5 it's really impressive

    This is an amazing remake and the only thing preventing it from being a 10 is the true to form mechanics of the original. Playing through the game was a blast but it's clear the souls series has evolved for a reason.

    Where the Souls series began, and outside of Bloodborne the highpoint for the series in terms of atmosphere and storytelling. Unfortunately, parts of the game are a bit dated compared to the other Souls entries, but the core gameplay is the same and it looks incredible on PS5

So I was completely taken aback that I couldn't upgrade my character during that opening act. Instead of running away to farm, I had to face my fears head on and LEARN the game. Although I still referred to YouTube guides (cheers FightinCowboy), the best moments were the ones where I didn't know what monsters are lurking around the corner.

    After that first level, the rest of the game was just as challenging, even though there were avenues to farm souls and upgrade stats and weapons.

    After appreciating the rewarding thrill of conquering tough bosses, I started playing other games at higher difficulty. Not only was this a gorgeous game with methodical gameplay, but also a rewarding experience that transformed the way I play.    … Expand

    graphic : completely amazing remake , graphic was the best 1010 for me gameplay: old mechanic .. sometimes annoying ... lack of tutorial ... i never used so many things i got because i didn't know how to use them ... unbalance difficulty on each level so hard or so easy .... for getting soul you need to replay a specific level more than a    i just finished the demon souls so...

    This was great, I loved diving into the world and the atmosphere and ambient horror was nailed. Beautiful texture and modeling work, couldn't have been happier. The shader on the moon sword is *chefs kiss*. The gameplay is a souls game, and it's true to form of the OG

    What can you say? It's Demon's Souls remade. Awesome game from start to finish and excellent boss fights. However the mechanics feel a bit dated in comparison to today's standards, which prevents it from being a 10 imo.

    It's so good. I just wish they would have made a few more quality of life updates like the rolling mechanic and the whole world. Black and white tendency shift is annoying. Pretty much stopped me from getting the platinum. Too much to keep up with to figure out what you need for every item

    One thing about this game that bugs me is that it feels incomplete. Some of the bosses are a joke and gimmicky. At times you face a boss directly after facing one making one think that there were supposed to be other section in between that never got developed. Even the sixth archstone feels like it should indeed be there. I think this may due to funding being cut as this was considered a failure when Miyazaki took it over. I suspect they were not willing to dump anymore money into it. Even the cut scene where the Monumental explains the archstones mentions the 6th one. This leaves the game feeling half baked and the bosses are quite lacking.

    Even so, the game is quite a blast and very repayable as you can always try new builds with new weapons. There is much to be said about a game that spawn its own genre. Even though the game is relatively easy compared to modern Souls titles, its still quite a challenge and well worth the price of admission.    … Expand

    I haven't played the ps3 version of the game and got really excited with the news that this game is coming out on PS5 at release which made me buy the console. A really great launch title for the system if you're into this kind of games. Probably the only downside of this game is it's too short. This game is actually better graphics wise than Elden Ring.

    The difference is in the visuals, the performance and some very few quality of life improvements. Demon's Souls Remake is BEAUTIFUL! Probably the most visually detailed and stunning game I've ever seen. It even looks great on Performance Mode. **** even those unnecessary filters are pretty! Now combine this visual prowess with the bleak and difficult atmosphere of Demon's Souls, plus the insane redesigns from some creatures and NPCs, and you have yourself one of the most faithful remakes ever made.

    Maybe too faithful, actually!
    A few things could have changed, since remakes were supposed to improve on all things.
    For example, the world tendency system is still a confusing mess, checkpoints are still annoying as hell, item descriptions could've been improved to give us a bigger sense of the lore and, DAMN... I really wanted that sixth pillar to be an ACTUAL level in the game. They could've given us that, right?
    Well, you can't have everything in life...

    Demon's Souls Remake is the BEST way to play a very good/very old game. Probably the best thing to spend money on, if you own a PS5. You owe it to yourself.

Demon Souls is in fact a lat easier than I was led to believe because the player has complete freedom to collect upgrades and improve their survivability between attempts to progress. What bothers me is that the process of grinding for power is not much fun. My personally philosophy is that games should be fun from start to finish. Demon Souls fails at that.

    The game opens with an exquisite medieval environment and enemies. Then as the game progresses, everything becomes stranger. The monsters are cool. Like with most games, it is the humans that are the hardest to fight. Some monsters do little more than take you sword stabs and die. An enemy knight, on the other hand, will ruthlessly stab you to death. The bosses are mixed bag. All of them are interesting. They remind me a lot of the bosses in “Ninja Gaiden” on the original Xbox. I defeated the first three bosses in Demon Souls without dying. Maybe its my lifetime of playing these games and dealing with these boss mechanics and “cheesing” bosses, but hit an run works very well in Demon Souls. Some bosses are a nightmare. I have yet to defeat one called Maneater and I am not sure I ever will. (Nevermind, I beat Maneater and all the bosses. Difficult, not impossible). Then again, I never thought I would ever start playing Demon Souls, and here I am.

    The mechanics of the game are well done and it feels good to play. The shield blocks and the sword hits. What more does a player need? The circle button is used for rolling and dodging. This button combo has been seared into my muscle memory since “Ninja Gaiden” on the original Xbox. I would love if “Skyrim” played like this or if “The Witcher 3” had shields). Most enemies telegraph their attacks. For most of the game, you can feel safe knowing that a cautious approach will get you through without dying.

    This remake is a gorgeous graphical showcase. You won’t find ray traced reflections in this dark world. What makes the world alive is the detail of the environment, characters, and animations. Few launch titles are this polished and hold up this well.

    Full disclosure: I downloaded this from my PS+ Extra collection. I am not risking $70 on this game. Maybe I’ll get tired of grinding souls. Maybe I’ll delete this to make space for another PS+ game. (Never mind. I completed the game in 34 hours. I am ready for a new game experience now!)    … Expand

Despite the body type A, body type B instead of male and female bull**** and black characters replacing previously non black characters for no reason other than assumedly the PC culture we have to put up with in the modern day and age, and the distinct lack of atmosphere from the original game, and the fact that a PS5 seems to be restricted for only the who's who of society,You know what? One thing I will say however is why is this the one and only exclusive launch title for a $749 console. Feels suspiciously like the big first party studios aren't actually working on a lot of games these days. Still waiting on Deep Down.… Expand

    This is one of the best looking games that I have ever seen and you have the option to pick 60fps which is great. The gameplay is not the best but with the dual sense haptics the combat feels very real and satisfying. The music is not as good as other souls games but is good enough. The worst thing about this game is the enemy AI and this affects the difficulty a lot. However, it appears that BluePoint missed an opportunity to address certain weaknesses of the original game, which have become more apparent with the advancements in technology. For example, the enemies' AI remains clunky and unchanged, creating an odd contrast between the hyper-realistic graphicsThe remake delivers an outstanding experience in terms of gameplay, visuals, and performance. My main issues with the game however are, of course, some of the changes. New designs like the fat official definitely aren't as good, and some of the boss themes try too hard to be bombastic (Old Monk and Dirty Colossus forAs someone who loved Demon's Souls, the game is great, no doubt, and it's definitely a good entry for newcomers, especially with its quality of life additions.     It’s a perfect remake and I think the only people who might be disappointed with it are… the die-hard FromSoftware fans. You see, the new Demon’s Souls shows clearly how much Miyazaki’s games have evolved throughout the years. The Dark Souls series simply does everything better. The remake looks like a prototype in comparison, while still being way ahead of other developers’ achievements in this genre. [01/2021, p.46]

    Overall, Demon’s Souls is still the most interesting and varied game in the Souls series. This remake not only looks lovely on the PlayStation 5 but is also a joy to play with all the tweaks and improvements that have been introduced. Now if only people would look past its supposed difficulty and see its carefully crafted intricacy instead.

    I went in expecting the world out of the Demon’s Souls remake and it delivered me the galaxy. I don’t normally speak this highly of games, but this is the one exception. Absolutely every facet of the original has been enhanced and it has stood the test of time. Bluepoint has done an incredible job at not only reinvigorating an underappreciated gem, but also leveraging the new technologies afforded to them with Sony’s new system. While there are a couple of minor technical blemishes, they don’t take away from how good of an experience this game is and Bluepoint’s diligence as a developer will surely see these kinks ironed out. This game is a system seller.
