Well... this is the sole definition of mediocrity. Plenty of bugs... but you know, big open-wold game, so I think bugs are somewhat okay. Buuut the story is shallow, the action is boring, the hacking is dumb and forgettable. It's a buy with a super-deep sale. Other than that, avoid it at full price.

I support this because i really like this idea of open world hacking game. It just needs to be done right. There's two way it can go, they either improve this one with 1. MULTIPLAYER, 2. AIDEN PEARCE DLC STORY, 3. IMPROVE OVERALL GAME MECHANICS LIKE DRIVING. Either these or they just need to go all out with watch_dogs 4. They got London right, that's good. What they didn't is that this game feel way packed together, EVERY OPEN WORLD GAME NEEDS AREAS TO TAKE TIME DOWN, BREATHE. It has some on if and i'm glad it does, but i would like these kinds of games have some kind of forest area, nature area, just like watch_dogs 1 did. ANYTHING OUTSIDE THE CITY, ANYTHING, PLEASE. I absolutely don't care if real London don't have nature areas, PRETEND IT DOES, IT'S A VIDEO GAME. You can do whatever you want with it. Still i'm not giving up on it just yet, i really wanna see what they do with season pass and if Aiden's story is good enough. If they this right, this might actually be pretty decent hacking/open world game that takes place in London and that's actually (at least to me) very important aspect. I like London. I love it's architecture (yeah i'm history nerd, sue me). NPC recruitment is very unique idea BUT IT NEEDS MORE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, IT NEEDS MORE. Like i said, i'm still hopeful, would love to fly on cargo drones with Aiden Pearce and play his missions. Could be actually cool. Even tho i kinda trashed it, don't get me wrong, i still like this game. It's miles better than completely empty open world of mafia remake, i don't care if it focuses on story, if you have huge open world, do something with it. Watch_Dogs is at least doing something. And it's overall by any means more fun than Marvel's Avengers, these are not even comparable. I'm not saying these things AT ALL to trash other games, i'm just pointing out facts. My recommendation would be either wait for sale, wait for season pass or just take whatever this game has to offer right now. It's overall very promising and at times very fun. Expand

I have strong mixed feelings about this game. First off, it's all there, npc recruitment, London in all it's glory, everything that was in trailers, everything they promised, it's all there.
Now, let describe this open world London and stuff i like about it and stuff i don't like at all.
This game misses main character, i'm sorry to say that, but it does. I can't wait to see if anything

This game misses main character, i'm sorry to say that, but it does. I can't wait to see if anything improves when they release season pass with Aiden, but it must. I would absolutely love to free roam with Aiden in that city. I guess what i want is actual character focused story. Right now it almost feels like it's work in progress and they should have released Aiden day 1 as post-story content. Like if you finish main story, then you can play with Aiden basically, well they didn't do that and i can live with that, i just hope season pass delivers, i really do. And why am i so optimistic? Because at the same time, there's so much there. This city really looks beautiful, for example you can go on cargo drone and fly on top of almost any building (that isn't too high) and chill around there. Scenery is BEAUTIFUL. You can free roam around on these rooftops, explore them etc. But then i have some criticism against open world design choices, for example i was free roaming and i found this old train in middle of nowhere, Would have been so cool to go inside it and explore it, but you can't because it has no doors. It's not the end of the world, but little things like that could have been so much deeper. You can drive inside trams in WD1 and you can't even go inside old train? Just saying. But overall it's not trash, it's just not. It' might not be anyone's cup of tea and that's completely fine, giving it just zero is pathetic at best. I'll just be honest, driving sucks with mouse and keyboard, it actually felt better in WD1 and they need to fix this, i'm serious. Overall it has tons of potential, underground areas is nice idea as well. There's so much there and there's stuff that i can forgive, like i don't NEED to go inside old trains, it would be just cool, that's all i'm saying. Overall again, it's not trash, it's just not. It just need improvement and for the love of god it needs that season pass more than ever.

Game is constantly crashing even after downloading and installing a patch. I can't play for more than twenty minutes before the game crashes, ruining mission progression. I have experienced at least twenty such crashes, rendering it virtually unplayable

A 0 because this game is worse than Watch_Dogs 2 and 1. All they had to do was build on the previous games but whatever, you do that I do this.

This is one of the buggiest games I have played in a while clipping happens all the time with clothes, details don't load in right away, enemies literally load in right next to you, and the story is just bland with no really heart.

Not masterpiece, but compared to tons of other open world games that are actually boring and empty (just cause 3 and 4, mafia remake) there's tons of fun to be had in watch dogs legion.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Tl;dr - the game is missing elements from the original and feels a bit disconnected from the previous titles. Yes there is DedSec but its not the same.

You start in a prologue where DedSec is being set-up by a criminal operation hell-bent on committing terrorism aimed at destroying your reputation. The character you're playing then dies after failing to stop the 3 site explosions you and your established DedSec team tried to foil. The introduction is then played and you're put into a character selection screen. You're not able to customize, but you can pick and choose from a wide range of models. The model you select has been picked by DedSec as a supporter of the cause and you're instantly thrown into becoming a member, without a test you're just simply now DedSec. At least in the 2nd game, Marcus had to perform a high-level test to qualify himself, in this one you're simply 'chosen', and it is accepted that you can just do everything expected of you. Characters all have special traits making their abilities a bit more or less desirable for whoever you take but I chose one of the basic 'European' looking models who didn't give a lot of extra traits and perhaps that is good?

The futuristic version of London is filled with automation, AR, and a society that has become victimized by Albion - the 'bad' guys of private security who have taken over the policing of the city. You're just thrown into the mix as a resistance member who is taking on the 'bad' guys looking to restore the name of Dedsec and overthrow the tyranny of the police state. And I hate it.

Gone is the story. Gone is the story of why. Yes London is under siege as CTOS has ravaged yet another city, and freedom has simply gone away in a formerly free society, but the uprising is a bit bland. There is no story like that of Adien Pierce trying to get his nephew, there is no Marcus trying to make San Franciso realize the evils of emerging technology. Nope, you're just an English bloke or lass trying to restore the name and creditability of an uprising counter-culture movement. And to be honest, the story is horrible 2 hours into the game.

There is no linear character development, it is all team-based. No longer do you have a simple character tree that you can modify to play the way you like to, perhaps developers realized the simplicity of using a drone to do everything, especially with just simply calling in enemy factions in, start a gun battle, then call the police, and let the bad guys kill one another off as you easily walk in and around the dead bodies to achieve your mission was too easy. Now there are 4 kinds of drones, all having different singular unique skills that allow you to approach the 'puzzles'. The spider drone is basically your evolved RC car that seemingly has more range than anything. I was easily able to do most of the first missions with it alone while sitting on the street level hidden behind a bin. The English pound is now ETC a form of cryptocurrency that is only there for clothing, no more car purchases, or 3D printer upgrades. Nope, you just buy clothes. Turn your male character into a drag queen, by endless stupid masks and run around with a gas mask... whatever?! The cryptocurrency is boring and to be honest just a side mission. Especially considering you can jump from person to person and STILL use the SAME clothing you paid for and have access to the SAME wallet as before, this is seemingly a bad concept.

Elements from Assisans Creed make their way into how people interact with buildings. Generic doors open up with an all-black mysterious backdrop that people come out of.... seems a bit corny if you ask me. I don't care if it adds realism, when you're walking by a shop and a random 1-way door opens and a model just emerges, it looks corny as hell. As far as the city modeling goes, it is excellent and to be honest one of the more 'lived in' worlds I have ever played in. The cars often have no one in them, so hi-jacking these AR cars are easy and with no risk. I am guessing the automatically driven cars of the future will work similarly; however, the motorcycles/ mopeds operate manually and have poorer handling than previous games, especially in the city. Drones fly throughout the city and can be commandeered for your use, alternatively, they are able to be summoned for different tasks and needs.

Even with 2+ hours of the game played, I am a bit disappointed at the 'evolution' of the title. I am playing on HARD and the game is easy. Very forgiving and to be honest, at times it tests my skill as a gamer, it is not 'hard'. Even with permadeath on I am able to do a lot of missions without much loss or worries. Some are ultra-easy and I am baffled by the ease of completion - I am not some pro gamer, so it is a bit shocking how easy things are.

This is by far one of the more, bleh versions of the game. WatchDogs_2 was better.

AAA Gaming landscape overall would be pretty empty without Ubisoft. That's just fact.
They release huge and even smaller games every single year. Not everything hits the nail, but it would be miracle if everything did. 2019 was generally huge mistake for them and i'm pretty confident it wont happen again. They simply can't afford it. Even tho they have millions of fans around the world,

Even tho they have millions of fans around the world, there seems to be this small group of angry/hateful people who try to damage their games by giving zero scores without even buying the game and not only their games, other companies as well (these people don't actually really care about gaming, they just have nothing better to with their lives, it's very obvious). And this mass downvoting on watch dogs legion literally day 1 is perfect example of that. Assassin's Creed has way larger fanbase (literally millions) than watch dogs, so hopefully Assassin's Creed fans are ready to protect Valhalla when it releases, because this kind of mass downvoting can't happen again. Now about the game, been playing around 20 hours i think. So far it's pretty fine watch dogs entry, i wasn't expecting anything crazy anyway from this, but it's solid 7.5, maybe even 8 for how good London looks.

Watch Dogs: Legion is far from perfect. It tries to tell a story about resisting oppression via the power of the people, but the concept of making any character in the world a viable choice means that the experience ends up being too broad and vague. I was able to spice things up by bringing my own roleplay to characters and used items that weren’t necessary, but this was my way of compensating for the ways in which Watch Dogs: Legion falls short of what I want from a triple-A adventure.

What you’re left with is a game that delivers a greatlooking futuristic London, and not much of anything else. It suffered a hefty delay, and the series transitioned from Ubisoft Montreal to Ubisoft Toronto. Something has been lost here, and we can’t help but feel that the commitment to making any character playable is the core issue. That’s been made possible, but just because Ubisoft could, that didn’t mean the developer should have. [Issue#182, p.147]

Watch Dogs: Legion is undoubtedly the best of the series, the one that is closest to bringing the experience promised by that trailer of the first game. Hacks are useful and the lack of a fixed character ends up making DedSec the true protagonist and, since we recruit, control and manage the operators, in the end we end up feeling part of the resistance.
