Legion is a good game, and more I play it, more I like it.
But, it is also a unfinished, unpolished game. Everything in it, from skybox to weather to NPCs, is still at a very rough state, and that makes me feel like I am playing thru a beta version, not a launch game with day one patch on PS4Pro. So, the game does need some serious patching and polishing.

So, the game does need some serious patching and polishing.
Luckily, main gameplay, shooting, driving, hacking, close combat, works well. And I have not encountered any major glitches or game breaking bugs. Which means you can play thru the game at its current state if you want. Although it might be smarter to wait for them to properly patch it up.
Best thing about Legion for me at the mo is the wry, smart humor we learned to love in WD2. And all the British accents! And the interesting stories all over the map.
When I started the game, all the gun, security and riot drones whizzing about the place made it rather chaotic and unfriendly experience. So, the game has a rough start that throws you in at the deep end. But, it only took few hours to acquire the skills to deal with them dangerous drones (trying to avoid spoilers here!). And it was at that point the game started rocking.
At the mo, I can only give the game 7/10 due to the roughness of it all. But once Ubi polishes it all up, it will be worth 8/10, easy. A good, solid game, worth playing for sure.
Added later; I had to drop the score to 6, due to two factors: 1. The missions become painfully repetitive further you play thru the story and...
    2. London in Legion is boring. The city lacks anything interesting to see. The historic buildings are there, but apart from them, the city is very drab and dull and devoid of detail, and does not represent or resemble real London in any way. Its like they just copied the historic buildings from Syndicate, then built the rest of the city around them in a week. Far cry from WD2's lively city. And far cry from Syndicate's London too, come to think of it.
And while they've released two more updates, they do not really do anything of note to the game's issues...
Final verdict after competion: The best part of the game has been the recruitment. I managed to find some really interesting and likable characters from the streets of London, and have become very fond of them, as they all have their own personality. (the recruits I gained from missions weren't nearly as interesting, tho)
-sadly, the rest of the game is best forgotten, so, 6/10 it remains. I'll keep the game, tho, just to see if it looks and sound any better on PS5...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let’s get the positive out of the way. The game looks absolutely gorgeous. I’ve been working in London for over 6 years and could find my way through it with only minor difficulties due to some small layout changes. It felt amazing to find my workplaces just by roaming the street, as well as the differences. The hacking system is fun, especially zipping about in drones and jumping from camera to camera. I’ve probably spent most of my time on cargo drones, crawling through the sky at leisurely speed.

The use of puzzles is also excellent, even if you start questioning who installs network nodes on the outside of a skyscraper. Unfortunately, the best story of the game Is a side story. Skye Larsen’s arc was extremely creepy and genuinely made me feel for the characters involved.

It’s the only gripping part of the game. Up until then I thought the Clan Kelley quests had a good payoff, but the Skye quest line made them feel far less involved.

The game suffers from tons of repetition. Dialog, recruitment quests, you’re bound to run through everything 5-20 times. For someone living in England, the game presents a very obvious caricature with extreme stereotypes - none of which we needed. Imagine a world in which everyone talks like Dick van Dyke in Marry Poppins, just with a somewhat more authentic (heavy) accent.

Lore items, of which there are quite a few, also missed a trick in world building. In many cases they just exist to drive the point of the main mission home, whereas other games like Horizon expand the game world with them.

None of your decisions have a palpable effect on the world you move in. „Freeing“ a Borough changes next to nothing, major decisions have no effect on world or story whatsoever. Ingame currency and clothing have zero use, but I’m sure they’ll command a premium in the online version.

Getting multiple operatives is, in its essence, awesome. You can recruit every single person in the game, if the repetitive quests don’t bore you to death before that. Unfortunately it’s also next to unnecessary. Some of the abilities, like uniformed access, are only necessary very rarely (usually only once or twice, to warrant their existence). There is a cookie cutter combination - a good hacker with a stealth spider bot on a cargo drone. You can accomplish nearly anything with that combination with very little threat to yourself. Fly over target, drop spiderbot, crawl away and merrily take out whoever comes your way, done. Very few quests bother to push you out of that comfort zone.

For a game that puts so much emphasis on being nonviolent (the main motivation of DedSec is to prove they were not being a terrorist attack with many deaths), being violent (ie outright killing instead of incapacitating) has no downsides.

It’s a shame. In a world that has GTA V, The Witcher 3 and Horizon Zero Dawn, the technically great premise for Watch Dogs Legion results in a game that wallows in its mediocrity. But hey, the graphics are great.

A robot reading off the script could do a better job, the whole idea of playing as everyone is used badly, the game has a bug where voices get distorted. It's somewhat playable/enjoyable. I loved playing as the construction worker as she had the drone to ride into just about any area. I completed about 90% of the game with her. I’ve played the game twice already and loved it- and will play again in the future. I think it’s much better than some of the reviews it’s received. Give it a shot! Expand

The story feels very shallow and boring (but that again, any Ubisoft game is like that so i bought expecting so), the city is beautiful and immense, but I did not feel like exploring it, it didnt feel alive , not rewarding to do any exploration. The controls felt very clunky, and the UI to access maps and other things in the game were horrible, no shortcuts to check the map for example, you need to open the menu and select map. To target an enemy with your gun, there is no targeting support, so you struggle to point a little dot (like in GTA) at your enemies....I tried very hard to find a single positive aspect in this game but i just couldnt.

NEVER BUY an UBISOFT game on day 1. That is a RULE! bought for $40 just a week ago (Month from its release). UBISOFT quality has ALWAYS been shady, regarding its launches. It is a bummer it takes them almost a month if they care, to make the correct fixes. None of the bugs I encountered were terrible apart from 4 crashes the game had while I played the full campaign.

It is a bummer it takes them almost a month if they care, to make the correct fixes. None of the bugs I encountered were terrible apart from 4 crashes the game had while I played the full campaign.

I waited for this game literally forever. The ambition of being able to recruit anyone is something I am impressed with this game, yes the skills of characters might be repetitive (BARELY) but each individual in the game seems and feels unique. I have tried to find 2 of the same people and until now havent been able to. I am amazed that all cutscenes involving your character and the way you customize him literally are exact and flawlessly even when zooming on to faces or body and their voice.

Even though you can be anyone and change characters frequently you dont feel that you are disconnected to them you feel the same as if you only had 1 protagonist that you can play with.

Visuals are more than impressive, the amount of details in the world are mind blowing, the colors, the visual effects. Having visited London on many occasions, it really captures the vibrance London has. Now the only thing I can say about the world is that they should have put the volume of the cars louder when driving and the atmospheric sound of the city louder as well. I sometimes feel that they sort of muted it down. I have to say the only bug I found with visuals was with color saturation (PS4 Standard version, I feel it is more of my consoles fault) they halfway fixed it with an update this week. (A month since the game released).

The story is fantastic, really entertaining. Wish there were more car variety in the game. I felt there were only like 15 types of cars so it felt repetitive. The amount of things you can do to carry and execute each mission doesnt make it quite repetitive as you might think. But yes most of the fame is hacking, but that is what watchdogs is.

I recommend this game to anyone who wants to have fun and enjoy being a stealthy assassin or just a maniac. This is a game about fun and the story does get a hold of you no matter what character you are playing with, Script felt good and entertaining. Wish NPCs could talk more and engage better, sometimes they felt too robotic, when encountered in the streets.

ALWAYS remember, never buy a game from ubisoft a full retail price or on the day it releases, Unfortunately even with delays, Ubisoft doesnt quite deliver a game without bugs.

It is not without it's faults, mainly with the variety and depth of missions (with the odd dodgy accent). However, that is to be expected with a game that attempts to do something new and ambitious - the play as anyone mechanic. The developers are to be particularly applauded for looking to make a game that is a bit different, tries to push the boundaries of what an open world does (I thought the same about Death Stranding), and explores innovative technology for how to deliver a different gaming experience. The play as anyone mechanic adds an interesting dimension that was a little lacking in previous Watch dog games, the need for a degree of planning and strategy which goes a way to alleviating some of the issues of variety in mission structure which I found reduced my enjoyment of Watch Dogs 2. Overall, the game is really enjoyable, the world is expansive and the tone of the visuals is spot-on for reflecting the atmosphere of a near future London under a fascist regime - the environment feels both familiar and oddly distinct which I think comes down to the visual aesthetic of key elements in the world such as vehicles, signs on buildings etc. A lot of people are saying that the absence of a central protagonist makes them feel disconnected, but I have found that in assembling my team I have become attached to a few core operatives and that still allows for an emotional attachment (something underpinned by the permadeath option). So, despite some flaws (that aren't serious enough to impact my enjoyment of the game) this is definitely worth a play to experience something a little different. Expand

In this game there seems to be only a few bars and whatnot scattered about. Next, the music. Music for me really makes a game shine if its executed properly. Watch Dogs Legion's music is a little meh in terms of songs and impact. Also, in Watch Dogs 2 the music app was a very cool choice, you could even make your own playlist and as well as discover new songs around the game world. Here there's really nothing like that at all. The upgrade menu for gadgets and other items just seems dull and like it was an afterthought. there are a few cool upgrades but theres not really a lot there.

Now one of the coolest aspect's of the game is the fact that every character is recruit-able, i think that is a very cool thing. But, its not perfect, some of the voice acting can be a bit dodgy and off putting and i found that i could beat every mission with seemingly just one operative so it kind of broke that illusion of the multiple recruits.

In conclusion, this isn't a terrible game ive definitely had my share of fun and memorable moments. I think its step in the right direction but needs some fine tuning before it can really be great.

Watch Dogs: Legion is far from perfect. It tries to tell a story about resisting oppression via the power of the people, but the concept of making any character in the world a viable choice means that the experience ends up being too broad and vague. I was able to spice things up by bringing my own roleplay to characters and used items that weren’t necessary, but this was my way of compensating for the ways in which Watch Dogs: Legion falls short of what I want from a triple-A adventure.

What you’re left with is a game that delivers a greatlooking futuristic London, and not much of anything else. It suffered a hefty delay, and the series transitioned from Ubisoft Montreal to Ubisoft Toronto. Something has been lost here, and we can’t help but feel that the commitment to making any character playable is the core issue. That’s been made possible, but just because Ubisoft could, that didn’t mean the developer should have. [Issue#182, p.147]

Watch Dogs: Legion is undoubtedly the best of the series, the one that is closest to bringing the experience promised by that trailer of the first game. Hacks are useful and the lack of a fixed character ends up making DedSec the true protagonist and, since we recruit, control and manage the operators, in the end we end up feeling part of the resistance.
