I really like the concept of Watch Dogs: Legion as it has the system where you can play as any characters which have different abilities, which I think its interesting! But the one thing I do not like about Watch Dogs: the mission system is often homogeneous content repetitive many times.

This game is NOT meant to be taken seriously, BUT it is still a very good game. Like, how can you not laugh when a homeless guy has a Machine Gun!

Watch Dogs: Legion is a really good game and I don’t know why the reviews say otherwise. The characters (other than the player characters) are pretty fun, Bagley is your AI partner for the game and is a very fun character who is among the ranks of Wheatley, and Glados from Portal. The gameplay of the game is quite variable. You can shoot someone with a nail gun, you can electrocute someone with a drone, you can even fly with a construction crane. Speaking of flying, the driving is actually very fun. Drifting never gets old, and flying 100 mph off of a motorcycle may not be very helpful but it’s pretty funny. The combat could be better but it’s not the main focus, you can do things stealthily which is way more fun like frying someone with a spider-bot, or hacking a vehicle so it runs someone over. The puzzles are actually pretty fun. They introduce cooler stuff as the game goes on that keeps them engaging. Surprisingly the main driving force for me to play the game was the story oddly enough. There are some legitimately cool and downright horrifying twists in this game. The villains are pretty fun and interesting but I did find there to be a few too many running around London. Speaking of London, let’s talk about the city. It’s beautiful. And it feels alive, partly because every character you come across has a backstory, and you may need to use it to your advantage to recruit them. The city of London is very fun to diddle around in and explore. Overall, definitely give this one a shot if you liked the other Watch Dogs games, GTA or pretty much any open world third-person-shooter game. Expand

Watch Dogs Legion is one of the games I always wanted. it's a war game alright but it's not your typical war game with armies, tanks and explosions. To top it all off you can see the names of the people you are fighting and that made me think made me pause for a second I wasn't just fighting unarmed soldiers rushing at me by the thousands I was fighting named enemies and it added the experience that this really is a secret war between two competing organizations. I could also recruit them and get them on my side of this struggle. So I would need a character with a non lethal weapon if I want to recruit. I also wanted to recruit some skilled military people into my ranks but I didn't know fighting and defeating their comrades in arms would make them hate my organization and thus make them unrecruitable it's little things like these that makes Legion stand out from other open world games also the fact that you can play as any character you can find as long as you recruit them really make this game a fantastic experience. I didn't think I would enjoy an open world action game ever again Legion proved me wrong with it's new mechanics and formula to keep things fresh in an already packed and generic genre of gaming. This is by far the best of the watch dogs series, the near future setting offers far more interaction with the world than the previous entries, the controls are much tighter and streamlined where it makes sense. the recruitment system is a really cool concept and it has a lot of potential. not every meal needs to be a five start steak dinner, some times you just need some Taco Bell. The gameplay is definitely an Improvement from the past WD games still vehicles still handles like crap for some reason I feel like vehicle handling is worst than WD1 especially motorcycles. The game world is so amazingly crafted as every UBISOFT game. There is so much to do and secrets to uncover and they rebuild London perfectly. Even tho the game tack place in the future London still feels like London. Play as anyone is a good idea and it just works but it's laking a lot of uniqueness sometimes. Most of the agents fell the same with few changes here and there. Sometimes it's the same character with a different code of paint but there are so enough you rarely find someone that looks and sounds exactly the same but that doesn't mean you'll find some agents the same looking agents because it's random. Missions are repetitive and lack variety It's always going there, kill some people or robots, hack that and this. But there are some missions that have some memorable settings. I enjoyed the game for what it is I understand this isn't for everyone. As a final note "Don't expect Witcher 3 kinda a game from every developer". Stay safe games! Expand

For the combat, melee combat is a hit or miss and gunplay is good for a third person shooter.

The driving is good except motorbikes they steer like a stick on the table. Had random crashes then and there... still crashes when you exit out of game to main menu which is stupid.

The game is good but has some problems. Game hacks are simple. There are no different puzzles in the game. It has few gadgets and features. The London environment is very well designed and beautiful. The selection system (TEAM) is really great. With the updates, there is a thing for improvement and it is promising.

Gunplay functions great, I would, however, like to be less restricted when it comes to my gun selection. A system where you could have a universal arsenal of weapons instead of limiting certain weapons to an individual character would be a far better alternative in my opinion.

The play as anyone perspective was handled well. While the ability to play as over 9 million different characters raises questions and concerns, I personally believe it was handled better than expected. The characters have their own unique abilities and personalities. From a gameplay perspective, ''Play as Anyone'' was handled greatly.

The story is typical Ubisoft, and gets stale as hell after a few hours. I think the overall plot of Zero Day vs DedSec was incredibly interesting, but unfortunately the story became quickly incredibly subpar and predictable. While it did have a few golden moments to look back at, most of the story just came down to ''Go here, Hack this, **** off''
The story also lacks in personal interest in the main protagonist, since.. well.. there isn't a main protagonist. I don't have a reason to care for ****ing Bob Wilson when i know all of his dialogue and reactions are the same for 9+ million playable characters. They don't overgo the same developments as the single-protagonists stories, and there isn't really a lot of character in any of these people besides Sabine and Bagley.

I am giving this an 8/10. Watch Dogs has always been about wrecking havoc and having a blast with different hacking tools at your disposal. This game delivers perfectly in that aspect. And with over 9 million different characters as your disposal, you can constantly find new innovative ways to wreck havoc across the town. And while the story is very subpar, I don't want weigh too much of my ranking on the story, as the story has never been a main focus in any Watch Dogs game. You don't play Watch Dogs to hear an adventure, you play Watch Dogs to have fun.

Funnily enough, I actually agree with what most of the more critical reviews have said – the gameplay does get a bit repetitive, the facial animations aren’t perfect, and for fans of Watch Dogs 2 there were small changes (like getting rid of the phone/create a playlist) that may disappoint. But these issues just haven’t bothered me at all. Mostly, I’ve been very impressed with the systems at play here and have just generally been having a great time in this world.

First off, I think they did such a great job with the world. This near-future London is gorgeous, and perhaps more importantly it is absolutely packed with detail. As much as I loved the sunny aesthetic of the Bay Area in WD2, walking around the cities sometimes felt quite empty. Here, the streets are covered with graffiti and litter and people milling about. I’ve already spent a lot of time just walking around London scanning people.

Which brings me to my next point – how well they pulled off play as anyone. They’ve done a bang-up job of making every person feel just a little bit unique. Sometimes it’s the quirky backstory they are procedurally generated, but oftentimes it’s also the way that animations for running, voice, and clothing are stacked together to create an individualized character. Obviously, there are archetypes, but I haven’t found any two people who share the same voice, face, and job. I also haven’t experienced any of the issues I’ve heard from other people about strangely mis-matched voices to bodies.

This has all made me really enjoy just strolling around scanning everyone. But, when you do add players to your team of operatives, there is also enough variety in gameplay to keep it fresh. The missions themselves are mostly rinse and repeats where you are infiltrating a building to rescue someone or steal something. But the ability to go in as a totally different operative – one who may be a stealth expert with a silenced pistol, or one who belches randomly and can pound a beer in a pinch – makes your approach to each mission interesting enough (in my opinion).

Simply trying to figure out how the game’s “census system” works has kept me interested in tracking people’s movements. While parts of this game feel outdated, this system truly feels next-gen. I’ll be walking down the street and rescue someone being harassed by military personnel, only to find out that they were the personal trainer to someone I had previously scanned for recruitment who now likes me more and may be willing to join our cause. Alternatively, I accidentally ran over someone while fleeing the authorities and later I scanned someone on the street who happened to be their husband and was on his way to mourn at her gravesite. These kind of flourishes that dynamically change how the world responds to the way I move through it feel so refreshing.

Other small improvements have been made from WD2, like the driving is a little tighter, but for the most part the gameplay feels very similar to its predecessor. They did add a lot of variety in clothing which I really appreciate – and the way they bundled shops together to copy real-world shopping centers like Kensington Road or Camden High Street is excellent.

The story is broadly quite generic, with an authoritarian military force having taken over the streets of London. Some of the individual villains are more interesting than those in past outings (the main antagonist was definitely a weak point of WD2 for me), and I was impressed with some of the non-story world building. Not being able to listen to audio logs outside of menus is annoying as hell. But, the in-car podcasts and other environmental cues do a surprisingly decent job of being unabashedly anti-fascist (for a company that has had its fair share of problems). Without saying much more, there are also some missions where the story starts to go places, I was really excited about their ambition, but unfortunately these seem (so far) to be a minority of the main story missions.

Overall, while I understand much of the criticism, I am still having a blast with Watch Dogs: Legion. I love open world third-person action games, and with all of the Witcher wannabes recently it’s been a little while since I messed about in a city-sandbox like this. It isn’t perfect, but it has enough that feels interesting and ambitious for me to recommend this game!

While the franchise has had some ups and downs, I've generally enjoyed each game and this game is no exception. That being said, it is not a perfect game. The recruit anyone mechanic that is the main focus of the game is both one of the game's biggest strengths, but also one of the biggest weaknesses. The good side is what it adds to gameplay. There's so many different ways to take on each mission and once New Game Plus is added in a future update, I feel this game will have a lot of replay value for that exact reason. Most of the operatives are pretty interesting to play as and no matter how you prefer to play, you should be able to find an operative that fits your style of play. Unfortunately however, this same mechanic really holds back the story itself, with most of the operatives getting generic lines for cut scenes and it's hard to really connect to any of them from a story perspective for this reason. It doesn't help that there's really only about 30-40 voice actors who have their voices changed with the technology available for there to be maybe about 100 different voices or so? This means character voices do repeat and individual lines repeat even more. I feel like the good sides of this out weight the bad, but it is something that could be improved upon in future titles. I do also wish there were more character archetypes. After about 10 or so hours of gameplay, a lot of the character jobs, descriptions and abilities feel like they repeat a lot. More ways to customize your operatives would also be nice. All in all, it's an interesting mechanic that adds a lot of fun to the game, but it's easy to tell this is the first game to do this.

As for the rest of the game's aspects, it's pretty fun. It's has some pretty solid graphics and sounds and most of the hacking from previous games is there. I was a bit disappointed they seem to have taken out the blackout hack, however I also somewhat assume they are saving that as a special character trait for when Aiden Pearce releases as DLC. They've also added a few new hacks and in general almost every object in the game seems to be hackable. The usual hack puzzles are also here and just as entertaining/annoying as usual and there's plenty of side adventures to explore. The game is a bit repetitive at times, but this is made up once again by the different ways you can take on various missions. The Spider-Bot is a great improvement and one of my favorite new aspects of the game. London seems to be really accurate to the real life location and I've heard this game referred to as "London citizen simulator," which seems somewhat accurate. I do wish you could enter a few more buildings however and there was less teasing of which ones you can and can't enter. I saw NPCs exit and enter buildings I couldn't go into quite a bit and that's a bit annoying, especially when it isn't always clear just looking at them which ones you can go into. The game is a bit glitchy at times however, having crashed on me about three or four times in the last few weeks I've been playing since the game released. This is something they keep saying each patch will fix and so far none has. I assume they will eventually fix this, but as of this moment it seems to still be there. Also, they've promised online play to come in an upcoming update as well, so that could change the experience when that releases and raise the score for this game.

Ultimately, while I did have a lot of fun with this game, I'd recommend waiting for it to hit a discount before picking it up unless you are a hardcore watch_dogs fan, or perhaps waiting to pick it up when you get your hands on an Xbox Series S/X or PS5. Ubisoft games are generally pretty fast to go down in price and if this is your first Watch_Dogs game, I think you'd regret purchasing this at 60 dollars when you could easily pick up Watch_Dogs 2 for 20 or the first game for less than that, both of which are equally good experiences. However, once this game does reach the bargain bin (which most Ubisoft games do within a year of release) I would strongly recommend picking this up. By that point the online aspects will have released, the DLC will also have hopefully released and the glitchiness will hopefully be fixed. It's a VERY fun game and I'd recommend it to anyone who's a fan of GTA style games. There are a few downsides, but most of my problems with the game are generally pretty minor. If you see this for 20 dollars in a few months, I'd strongly recommend picking it up!

However, that is to be expected with a game that attempts to do something new and ambitious - the play as anyone mechanic. The developers are to be particularly applauded for looking to make a game that is a bit different, tries to push the boundaries of what an open world does (I thought the same about Death Stranding), and explores innovative technology for how to deliver a different gaming experience. The play as anyone mechanic adds an interesting dimension that was a little lacking in previous Watch dog games, the need for a degree of planning and strategy which goes a way to alleviating some of the issues of variety in mission structure which I found reduced my enjoyment of Watch Dogs 2. Overall, the game is really enjoyable, the world is expansive and the tone of the visuals is spot-on for reflecting the atmosphere of a near future London under a fascist regime - the environment feels both familiar and oddly distinct which I think comes down to the visual aesthetic of key elements in the world such as vehicles, signs on buildings etc. A lot of people are saying that the absence of a central protagonist makes them feel disconnected, but I have found that in assembling my team I have become attached to a few core operatives and that still allows for an emotional attachment (something underpinned by the permadeath option). So, despite some flaws (that aren't serious enough to impact my enjoyment of the game) this is definitely worth a play to experience something a little different. Expand

I think it is a really good game, at least as good as the Watch Dogs 2, but still it's Ubisoft so there are a lot of glitches and sometimes the game has even crashed on PS4. But although it's problems, this is a really good game, the story is good, the playtime was fun and I really enjoyed it. So my rating is 85%.

It's too bad that they played it too safe with the design and politics, because it could have been one of the more interesting Ubi titles in years. The game isn't particularly innovative outside of the team recruitment, and the visuals are somehow worse than its predecessor on consoles. London--much like SF in WD2--is fun to explore at first, but its shallow nature becomes all too apparent after a few hours. Similar to Odyssey, it can be pretty fun in short bursts with a hit-and-run mercenary approach. The anemic online component can be entertaining, but falls well short of offering anything compelling beyond wreaking havoc with friends (a la GTA, but even more bland and pointless.)

Hopefully, the UbiLegion will stop churning out recycled titles after their long string of solid-but-mediocre games, but after sampling Far Cry 6,the future seems bleak, indeed.

Overall Gameplay: Solid, let down by samey mission structures and horrible enemy A.I

To end, I really liked this game until about halfway through the game.. where the flaws and repetition of this game reared it's ugly head the more you play it... as there just wasn't enough depth to all aspects of this game to really enjoy it all the way through. I'm finding it rather fun on Permadeath, hardmode. I'd really not recommend this game if you are looking for anything other than a sandbox to play around with this whole NPC recruitment sim deal cause much of the game, such as the story, city, objectives, most missions (some are really great) are fairly bland to sometimes bad. However, if you are looking for an Xcom lite in an open worldI'm finding it rather fun on Permadeath, hardmode. I'd really not recommend this game if you are looking for anything other than a sandbox to play around with this whole NPC recruitment sim deal cause much of the game, such as the story, city, objectives, most missions (some are really great) are fairly bland to sometimes bad. However, if you are looking for an Xcom lite in an open world third person and you can ignore most else, using the world and story as reasons to play around in a digital sandbox and want the risk of permadeath to mould the way you play and use all systems available then you'll have great fun but there is one more catch, it takes some progression into the story before Permadeath kicks in and you might be put off early on, I'd say stick with it if you've already bought it.

However, if I could, I would have waited for a sale, It's an Ubisoft game and there is a lot of jank with massive shortfalls in TLC and polish as well as bonkers about of tiny busy work that means **** all more than collectables in any other AAA game.

This isn't a handcrafted game, you can feel the lack of passion and the politics seeping though from the developers is questionable, almost like Antifa made this game (and yes, i know that's the theme but it cuts deeper than that, too much of it it is on the nose and agenda pushy.

I'll give it a 7 but it barely scraps by and that is only because I went in with the sole intent of only focusing on the sim aspect and permadeath while consciously making the decision to play the story while podcasting or watching youtube/netflix. If I was playing this game ignoring permadeath and were looking for a good story, good characters and enjoyable interesting missions that didn't rely on me making my own fun then I couldn't see myself giving it more than a 5. I'll give it a 7 though because they have focused on allowing me to make my own fun in the game and it works really well, It would have benefited them if they had made that clear to all players and pulled back from trying to force the player to play a certain way through the tutorials and endless on screen prompts, HUD elements and so on.

This game could have been something really special had they just went full on immersive sim and dialed back everything else but I suppose they'd loose the casuals, it seems like a corporate decision and they messed up.

In this game there seems to be only a few bars and whatnot scattered about. Next, the music. Music for me really makes a game shine if its executed properly. Watch Dogs Legion's music is a little meh in terms of songs and impact. Also, in Watch Dogs 2 the music app was a very cool choice, you could even make your own playlist and as well as discover new songs around the game world. Here there's really nothing like that at all. The upgrade menu for gadgets and other items just seems dull and like it was an afterthought. there are a few cool upgrades but theres not really a lot there.

Now one of the coolest aspect's of the game is the fact that every character is recruit-able, i think that is a very cool thing. But, its not perfect, some of the voice acting can be a bit dodgy and off putting and i found that i could beat every mission with seemingly just one operative so it kind of broke that illusion of the multiple recruits.

In conclusion, this isn't a terrible game ive definitely had my share of fun and memorable moments. I think its step in the right direction but needs some fine tuning before it can really be great.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Tl;dr - the game is missing elements from the original and feels a bit disconnected from the previous titles. Yes there is DedSec but its not the same.

You start in a prologue where DedSec is being set-up by a criminal operation hell-bent on committing terrorism aimed at destroying your reputation. The character you're playing then dies after failing to stop the 3 site explosions you and your established DedSec team tried to foil. The introduction is then played and you're put into a character selection screen. You're not able to customize, but you can pick and choose from a wide range of models. The model you select has been picked by DedSec as a supporter of the cause and you're instantly thrown into becoming a member, without a test you're just simply now DedSec. At least in the 2nd game, Marcus had to perform a high-level test to qualify himself, in this one you're simply 'chosen', and it is accepted that you can just do everything expected of you. Characters all have special traits making their abilities a bit more or less desirable for whoever you take but I chose one of the basic 'European' looking models who didn't give a lot of extra traits and perhaps that is good?

The futuristic version of London is filled with automation, AR, and a society that has become victimized by Albion - the 'bad' guys of private security who have taken over the policing of the city. You're just thrown into the mix as a resistance member who is taking on the 'bad' guys looking to restore the name of Dedsec and overthrow the tyranny of the police state. And I hate it.

Gone is the story. Gone is the story of why. Yes London is under siege as CTOS has ravaged yet another city, and freedom has simply gone away in a formerly free society, but the uprising is a bit bland. There is no story like that of Adien Pierce trying to get his nephew, there is no Marcus trying to make San Franciso realize the evils of emerging technology. Nope, you're just an English bloke or lass trying to restore the name and creditability of an uprising counter-culture movement. And to be honest, the story is horrible 2 hours into the game.

There is no linear character development, it is all team-based. No longer do you have a simple character tree that you can modify to play the way you like to, perhaps developers realized the simplicity of using a drone to do everything, especially with just simply calling in enemy factions in, start a gun battle, then call the police, and let the bad guys kill one another off as you easily walk in and around the dead bodies to achieve your mission was too easy. Now there are 4 kinds of drones, all having different singular unique skills that allow you to approach the 'puzzles'. The spider drone is basically your evolved RC car that seemingly has more range than anything. I was easily able to do most of the first missions with it alone while sitting on the street level hidden behind a bin. The English pound is now ETC a form of cryptocurrency that is only there for clothing, no more car purchases, or 3D printer upgrades. Nope, you just buy clothes. Turn your male character into a drag queen, by endless stupid masks and run around with a gas mask... whatever?! The cryptocurrency is boring and to be honest just a side mission. Especially considering you can jump from person to person and STILL use the SAME clothing you paid for and have access to the SAME wallet as before, this is seemingly a bad concept.

Elements from Assisans Creed make their way into how people interact with buildings. Generic doors open up with an all-black mysterious backdrop that people come out of.... seems a bit corny if you ask me. I don't care if it adds realism, when you're walking by a shop and a random 1-way door opens and a model just emerges, it looks corny as hell. As far as the city modeling goes, it is excellent and to be honest one of the more 'lived in' worlds I have ever played in. The cars often have no one in them, so hi-jacking these AR cars are easy and with no risk. I am guessing the automatically driven cars of the future will work similarly; however, the motorcycles/ mopeds operate manually and have poorer handling than previous games, especially in the city. Drones fly throughout the city and can be commandeered for your use, alternatively, they are able to be summoned for different tasks and needs.

Even with 2+ hours of the game played, I am a bit disappointed at the 'evolution' of the title. I am playing on HARD and the game is easy. Very forgiving and to be honest, at times it tests my skill as a gamer, it is not 'hard'. Even with permadeath on I am able to do a lot of missions without much loss or worries. Some are ultra-easy and I am baffled by the ease of completion - I am not some pro gamer, so it is a bit shocking how easy things are.

This is by far one of the more, bleh versions of the game. WatchDogs_2 was better.

In a world currently filled with growing tension and political anxiety, Watch Dogs: Legion places itself rather cumbersomely as the awkward satirical uncle everyone knows and loves who’s wedged himself on the end of the family’s dinner table.

The games main mechanic is a operative generator; meaning that in this game there is no single protagonist to topple an ever familiar totalitarian technocracy but rather procedurally generated NPC’s that can be recruited to your cause, each with their own quirks and capabilities. A few examples I stumbled across during my first 6 hours were; a construction worker, who had access to a heavy wrench that was better in melee combat as well as a cargo drone that could be summoned and flow at any given time, a doctor with a gambling addiction, meaning that whilst I could gain access to medical areas I also lost currency periodically in the game and also an old lady who was fantastic at hacking. The generation system doesn’t seem repetitive as of yet, there’s a good mix of perks and downfalls that merge well together to make a varied enough experience that makes you want to seek out those top operative.

The story is kind of mediocre and underwhelming. It’s a plot that’s very transparent, there’s no surprises that you wont see coming. The characters that serve to fill in the story in the place of a missing protagonist come off as generic and plain more often than not. The one exception being your A.I assistant Bagley who provides enough quips and gags to keep the game more light hearted and fun compared to his counterparts.

Watch Dogs: Legion is set in a futuristic London and this is where the game truly shines through. Being British it was a delight to finally see a city that I know and love brought to live in the form of a video game. I spent my first through hours driving through the streets of London with drones overhead, visiting all my favourite tourist hotspots and streets that I’ve known growing up. The attention to detail here is pretty impressive, with many buildings and even similar businesses in the correct places geographically.

Unfortunately as many of us know sometimes its not all about the looks. Whilst aesthetically Ubisoft does a great job at recreating London. I can’t help but feel there’s something missing to tie it all together. It feels kind of dated and bland on some occasions, driving from one area to another with little to no random encounters, like we’ve become accustomed to with the likes of Fallout, Witcher or Red Dead Redemption. The repetition of get mission, go to mission area, interact with console is rife in this title. The saving grace comes from the operator generator that lets you tackle the mission areas in different kinds of ways, but even then I found myself reverting back to the hide’n’hack tactics of its predecessors.

Audio on the game is appealing on a whole. The game has a broad selection of modern and classic music to help fill the air in London. The one place where it lets itself down is the generated voice acting that sometimes messes with tone and pitch a bit to much to come across as genuine.

Overall I think its definitely worth a play if your a follower or fan of the series. It has some replay ability in that you can retry areas with different operatives for a different experience; and there’s a catch’em all vibe with regards to finding and recruiting operatives.

As a huge fan of the first two in the series, I was very disappointed in this game. After the appeal of recruiting anyone wears off after a few hours, you realize this game has no variety in missions and side activities.

The story has no cohesion as their all played in different chapters. Once you get a hitman and a albion uniform recruit the game is easy mode. Af

The devs have done a good job at recreating London, but they've spent so much time and resources on endless dialogue and voiceovers that the gameplay and story has been overlooked. Great concept, badly executed.

The story and characters were more than a bit cringe, the gameplay felt too repetitive too quick, and after an enjoyable first few hours it just tuned into a "fast travel here, meet your contact, then fast travel there, carry out same one of 6 or 7 tasks, fast travel back to contact to finish" etc etc ad nauseam.

And the load times were so long I ended up just doing stuff on my own phone while waiting.

Looked pretty enough, game crashed probably 8-10 times but that's not horrifically bad over 30-40 hrs on hardest settng while making sure I completed all missions.

Second-hand prices I got this for are pretty cheap, but for $70 or whatever on release day I'd have felt a bit grumpy.

Ghost Recon Wildlands.

So, the game does need some serious patching and polishing.
Luckily, main gameplay, shooting, driving, hacking, close combat, works well. And I have not encountered any major glitches or game breaking bugs. Which means you can play thru the game at its current state if you want. Although it might be smarter to wait for them to properly patch it up.
Best thing about Legion for me at the mo is the wry, smart humor we learned to love in WD2. And all the British accents! And the interesting stories all over the map.
When I started the game, all the gun, security and riot drones whizzing about the place made it rather chaotic and unfriendly experience. So, the game has a rough start that throws you in at the deep end. But, it only took few hours to acquire the skills to deal with them dangerous drones (trying to avoid spoilers here!). And it was at that point the game started rocking.
At the mo, I can only give the game 7/10 due to the roughness of it all. But once Ubi polishes it all up, it will be worth 8/10, easy. A good, solid game, worth playing for sure.
Added later; I had to drop the score to 6, due to two factors: 1. The missions become painfully repetitive further you play thru the story and...
    2. London in Legion is boring. The city lacks anything interesting to see. The historic buildings are there, but apart from them, the city is very drab and dull and devoid of detail, and does not represent or resemble real London in any way. Its like they just copied the historic buildings from Syndicate, then built the rest of the city around them in a week. Far cry from WD2's lively city. And far cry from Syndicate's London too, come to think of it.
And while they've released two more updates, they do not really do anything of note to the game's issues...
Final verdict after competion: The best part of the game has been the recruitment. I managed to find some really interesting and likable characters from the streets of London, and have become very fond of them, as they all have their own personality. (the recruits I gained from missions weren't nearly as interesting, tho)
-sadly, the rest of the game is best forgotten, so, 6/10 it remains. I'll keep the game, tho, just to see if it looks and sound any better on PS5...

The graphics- I don't see much diference from WD2.

The vibe of the game- The series seem to be getting an avengers vibe to it, WD and WD2 tried to get has close to reality but implementing some non-sense that was fun, here you see some twisted distopia that makes you feel like you are on sci-fi game (drones that follow you, militias, eletric guns, bad AI), also i prefered the over all feel of WD2 world, the npcs and lociations where more fun.

The gameplay- Driving was weird to get used to, but after 5 or 10 minutes You get used to drinving on the other side of the road, cars and AI are the same, combat is the same, oponents seem to be bullet sponges even with an head shot.

Punching someone is weird, on the second game we had a cool meele weapon, now we have to figth basicaly mashing the buttons of the controler, i say its boring to say the least.

The main problem that i find in this, is the recruitment mission, at 1st i thougth that it would be bad, oh boy was i wrong, it's awfull at least, the "Play has anyone" seem to be fun, but its not fun when you want to recruit someone and you die because your guns are weak, and 3 cars of enymies spawn, and you die. The missions i foud followed this path Go to XX location, Get XX thing, Go find the recruit, Enymies spawn and you die. Now that recruit hates DeadSEC.

I had high hopes for the game, no i just want to finish it has fast has possible so i can play a new round of WatchDogs 2.

Buy it when people start selling it at a low price

Update: finished the game, there is still a lot of bugs,NPC's that spawn in front of you, or are invisible, missions that don't move foward because dialogue dosen't play.

The story: Characters are not interesting, since the play has anyone makes it dificult, i'd rather have a main character and that's all, the villan (zero-day) is a clichê, you can pin point who is the hacker without much effort.

Has i said, i'd rather play WD2, story is better, map is better, combat is way more funnier

Okay. So... Let's get into some of the pros and cons of this game shall we, from someone who loves the watchdogs series. Some things have both pros and cons

    Pros:
    - Seeing London imagined into a modernish/futuristic game is awesome, especially living in England it's refreshing to play in London.
    - Combat is alright, it's fairly easy to work out how to take people out without really worrying about dying.
    - Recruiting anyone...Yeah, it's cool, it's interesting to know I can hire some old far who's nipping out for some coffee and in the next hour have him taking out armed guards in high-security facilities...
    - Story...I don't mind it...I don't love it though. I kind of like the idea of bringing down the dystopian style regime of the private force and freeing London.
    Cons:
    - Recruiting anyone...literally...without any real issue? Some people will literally join the most wanted terrorist group simply because you helped delete some of their files...? I really wish some people just straight up declined, or there was risk that someone would report you for trying to recruit you. Would make recruiting someone based on their opinions, a little better.
    - Movement. it's janky as hell, doesn't really feel all that smooth
    - Crashes. Granted, I'm playing on the Xbox one, but I've had around 20 crashes already. Some of which have been 5 seconds into game loading...it's just not okay?
    - Dialogue. It's cheesy, and cringe. Feels like it's trying to be 'down with the kids' and misses the mark. Some of it is funny. Oh, it doesn't match up with the lip movements of the characters either...
    - Missions are fairly samey and easy. most of it can just be done with the spider bot, and most of it feels the sam. Yes, it's a hacking game, but it's literally 'go here and hack this, then go there and hack that' and boom you're done.

Is it worth £52? Not in my opinion. Personally, I'd wait until there is a sale on and cop this at a much lesser cost.

Watch Dogs Legion is the third installment in Ubisoft’s hacker open world trilogy. It isn't the best of the three games. This game had a lot of bugs even after patches. Some of the bugs I experienced caused me to close my application and start my mission over again. Another bug I came across was cars just blowing up randomly. This happened several times and it killed me once permanently killing one of my operatives.

This game was very repetitive as well. There wasn't any real immersion. I don't even remember my characters' names. And due to that I couldn't really get into the story. All the missions where just take out a group of enemies in a compound stealthy or guns and blazing just to hit a button or hack a little device which is copied and pasted across all the missions. The recruitment missions had no variety at all. I found myself replaying the same recruitment mission several times over again. And the characters I recruited all had similar character models in fact I had two identical characters with the same voice actors. The gun combat also felt really easy even on hard it wasn't really challenging. One feature they don't have in this game that watch dogs 2 had was being able to buy cars. This was one feature I really enjoyed in watch dogs 2 but im disappointed Watch dogs legion doesn't have. Stealth in watch dogs 2 was a lot more fun because the characters didn't feel as brain dead and clueless. I would take down a guy right next to another and he wouldn't even notice.

With there being a lot of bad in this game there are still good things. The melee combat was very fun and believable. I found myself using hand to hand combat more than using guns. They also expanded on the overall hacking. They shortened hacking cool downs on everything. It takes only 10 seconds to recharge quick hacks. Being able to hack vehicles without a cool down where all good changes. They also improved the driving. In watch dogs 2 the driving was very clunky and poor but they improved it in watch dogs legion. The handle break function was very fun to use drifting around the city. They also brought back the little puzzles where you have to move the tiles around to connect a positive energy source. These puzzles occurred a lot more in Watch Dogs Legion and I was glad for that because that was one of the things I enjoyed about Watch Dogs 2.

Overall Watch Dogs Legion was a pretty average experience due to a lot of bugs, boring story and poor character development and a poor example as play as anyone the game ranks out as a 6/10 which is a step down from Watch Dogs 2. If Ubisoft wants to make another watch dogs game they should work on the storytelling, level design and character development.

After the events from the previous Watch Dogs titles, Watch Dogs Legion is just a soulless sequel that that doesn’t meet expectations to fans that loved the first two.

same old boring ubisoft crap with a lot of bugs and silly voice acting. london looks nice enough, though, and the switch-your-main-character-on-the-fly idea is great, albeit undeveloped. maybe the fourth try will be the best? :)))

I’m about 10-15 hours into this game and overall it is everything you’d expect from a 2020 open world game, and sadly nothing more. The most impressive piece of this game is easily the setting. London looks amazing, feels BIG, and really is fun to explore. Early on pros: London is amazing, some parts of the recruitment ability are a lot of fun, progression is well timed. Overall: Nothing groundbreaking, but a typical open world game you can have some fun with, with that unique Watchdog flair. Expand

I really tried to like this game. I enjoyed watch dogs 2 and has high expectations for 3, but the ability to change characters, although fun at times, did not endear me to the main character.I finished the main story but I felt nothing at the end.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Promises of co-op multiplayer had me sold, although bittersweet, hearing they no longer had the intrusion style multiplayer of Watchdogs 2 had me sad. That for me was one of the best and original aspects of the game.

So starting with the multiplayer, it came way to late to the party, I was already done with the game and had little desire to go back to it. But when I did reinstall the game, on 2 systems. mind you, in order to try out the multiplayer. It was a complete and utter let down and that not even warrant talking about further.

To the main campaign then. I have never in any game experienced such awfull voice acting. It became a running joke in the end and it completely ruined the campaign. Don't get me wrong, for a good 10 hours or so of the game I was enjoying myself at least, putting up with the bugs and constant crashing. Being a completionist, I did try for platinum, so it wasn't so bad I couldn't get to the end, there was a lot of good foundation there. However the platinum trophy was thwarted very near the last few trophies due to a game breaking bug and what was good, was let down by an uninterresting story and mundane generic missions with characters who drew no empthaty or attachment.

5 / 10 may be somewhat harsh. but when contrasted with the excellent watchdogs 2 , the gap between the 2 is truly that big. This game feels and plays like a generic ubisoft shooter, rather then something new. Thats enough to put me off the franchise.

    Pros:
    - Good music? Nice UK rap and drum and bass.
    - Good amount of clothes to customize? - Play as anyone in the streets. - Big Shaq is tight. Cons: - Very outdated shooting and gunplay. Cons:
    - Very outdated shooting and gunplay. Sure, you can play as a professional hitman like John Wick but the whole thing feels very 2010. After playing The Last of Us 2 and experiencing the shooting mechanics on the Wolfenstein series, Max Payne 3, there's too much of bullet sponge enemies, not enough blood and gore, and not enough animations. The AI is just quite dumb. The stealth takedowns are just not satisfying enough. They are too effortless to achieve. The gunplay is definitely an inferior version of The Division, even though The Division was just average at best.

    - The sounds of the guns barely have any weight in them. Sounds just like they got audio from stock and pasted it to the game. Same goes for punching people as well.

    - A very politically woke game?
    - Barely existing story?
    - 30 FPS on the PS4?
    - The lip sync is just...terrible.
    - Some of the voices totally feels very automated and unnatural.
    - A lot of...ugly looking characters? (But then again, Ubisoft have a lot of terribly looking characters in their games)
    - Missions have barely any variety. Go to one place. Hack something. Use spiderbot. Stun someone. Collect something. Hear some dialogue. Move on.
    - The driving in the game still feels bad. Even in comparison to the GTA series, this game falls in behind. All the cars feels like they are rubberband powered, all the handling is extremely tight, no sense of acceleration as every car reaches their top speed in like 2 seconds. It just doesn't put immersion when you are being chased by Albion. Way too easy to escape and you never feel a sense of urgency.

Overall, once you played the first couple of hours, I would say you've pretty much seen everything and played the whole game already.

Watch Dogs: Legion is far from perfect. It tries to tell a story about resisting oppression via the power of the people, but the concept of making any character in the world a viable choice means that the experience ends up being too broad and vague. I was able to spice things up by bringing my own roleplay to characters and used items that weren’t necessary, but this was my way of compensating for the ways in which Watch Dogs: Legion falls short of what I want from a triple-A adventure.

What you’re left with is a game that delivers a greatlooking futuristic London, and not much of anything else. It suffered a hefty delay, and the series transitioned from Ubisoft Montreal to Ubisoft Toronto. Something has been lost here, and we can’t help but feel that the commitment to making any character playable is the core issue. That’s been made possible, but just because Ubisoft could, that didn’t mean the developer should have. [Issue#182, p.147]

Watch Dogs: Legion is undoubtedly the best of the series, the one that is closest to bringing the experience promised by that trailer of the first game. Hacks are useful and the lack of a fixed character ends up making DedSec the true protagonist and, since we recruit, control and manage the operators, in the end we end up feeling part of the resistance.
