Well... this is the sole definition of mediocrity. Plenty of bugs... but you know, big open-wold game, so I think bugs are somewhat okay. Buuut the story is shallow, the action is boring, the hacking is dumb and forgettable. It's a buy with a super-deep sale. Other than that, avoid it at full price.

I support this because i really like this idea of open world hacking game. It just needs to be done right. There's two way it can go, they either improve this one with 1. MULTIPLAYER, 2. AIDEN PEARCE DLC STORY, 3. IMPROVE OVERALL GAME MECHANICS LIKE DRIVING. Either these or they just need to go all out with watch_dogs 4. They got London right, that's good. What they didn't is that this game feel way packed together, EVERY OPEN WORLD GAME NEEDS AREAS TO TAKE TIME DOWN, BREATHE. It has some on if and i'm glad it does, but i would like these kinds of games have some kind of forest area, nature area, just like watch_dogs 1 did. ANYTHING OUTSIDE THE CITY, ANYTHING, PLEASE. I absolutely don't care if real London don't have nature areas, PRETEND IT DOES, IT'S A VIDEO GAME. You can do whatever you want with it. Still i'm not giving up on it just yet, i really wanna see what they do with season pass and if Aiden's story is good enough. If they this right, this might actually be pretty decent hacking/open world game that takes place in London and that's actually (at least to me) very important aspect. I like London. I love it's architecture (yeah i'm history nerd, sue me). NPC recruitment is very unique idea BUT IT NEEDS MORE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, IT NEEDS MORE. Like i said, i'm still hopeful, would love to fly on cargo drones with Aiden Pearce and play his missions. Could be actually cool. Even tho i kinda trashed it, don't get me wrong, i still like this game. It's miles better than completely empty open world of mafia remake, i don't care if it focuses on story, if you have huge open world, do something with it. Watch_Dogs is at least doing something. And it's overall by any means more fun than Marvel's Avengers, these are not even comparable. I'm not saying these things AT ALL to trash other games, i'm just pointing out facts. My recommendation would be either wait for sale, wait for season pass or just take whatever this game has to offer right now. It's overall very promising and at times very fun. Expand

I have strong mixed feelings about this game. First off, it's all there, npc recruitment, London in all it's glory, everything that was in trailers, everything they promised, it's all there.
Now, let describe this open world London and stuff i like about it and stuff i don't like at all.
This game misses main character, i'm sorry to say that, but it does. I can't wait to see if anything

This game misses main character, i'm sorry to say that, but it does. I can't wait to see if anything improves when they release season pass with Aiden, but it must. I would absolutely love to free roam with Aiden in that city. I guess what i want is actual character focused story. Right now it almost feels like it's work in progress and they should have released Aiden day 1 as post-story content. Like if you finish main story, then you can play with Aiden basically, well they didn't do that and i can live with that, i just hope season pass delivers, i really do. And why am i so optimistic? Because at the same time, there's so much there. This city really looks beautiful, for example you can go on cargo drone and fly on top of almost any building (that isn't too high) and chill around there. Scenery is BEAUTIFUL. You can free roam around on these rooftops, explore them etc. But then i have some criticism against open world design choices, for example i was free roaming and i found this old train in middle of nowhere, Would have been so cool to go inside it and explore it, but you can't because it has no doors. It's not the end of the world, but little things like that could have been so much deeper. You can drive inside trams in WD1 and you can't even go inside old train? Just saying. But overall it's not trash, it's just not. It' might not be anyone's cup of tea and that's completely fine, giving it just zero is pathetic at best. I'll just be honest, driving sucks with mouse and keyboard, it actually felt better in WD1 and they need to fix this, i'm serious. Overall it has tons of potential, underground areas is nice idea as well. There's so much there and there's stuff that i can forgive, like i don't NEED to go inside old trains, it would be just cool, that's all i'm saying. Overall again, it's not trash, it's just not. It just need improvement and for the love of god it needs that season pass more than ever.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Tl;dr - the game is missing elements from the original and feels a bit disconnected from the previous titles. Yes there is DedSec but its not the same.

You start in a prologue where DedSec is being set-up by a criminal operation hell-bent on committing terrorism aimed at destroying your reputation. The character you're playing then dies after failing to stop the 3 site explosions you and your established DedSec team tried to foil. The introduction is then played and you're put into a character selection screen. You're not able to customize, but you can pick and choose from a wide range of models. The model you select has been picked by DedSec as a supporter of the cause and you're instantly thrown into becoming a member, without a test you're just simply now DedSec. At least in the 2nd game, Marcus had to perform a high-level test to qualify himself, in this one you're simply 'chosen', and it is accepted that you can just do everything expected of you. Characters all have special traits making their abilities a bit more or less desirable for whoever you take but I chose one of the basic 'European' looking models who didn't give a lot of extra traits and perhaps that is good?

The futuristic version of London is filled with automation, AR, and a society that has become victimized by Albion - the 'bad' guys of private security who have taken over the policing of the city. You're just thrown into the mix as a resistance member who is taking on the 'bad' guys looking to restore the name of Dedsec and overthrow the tyranny of the police state. And I hate it.

Gone is the story. Gone is the story of why. Yes London is under siege as CTOS has ravaged yet another city, and freedom has simply gone away in a formerly free society, but the uprising is a bit bland. There is no story like that of Adien Pierce trying to get his nephew, there is no Marcus trying to make San Franciso realize the evils of emerging technology. Nope, you're just an English bloke or lass trying to restore the name and creditability of an uprising counter-culture movement. And to be honest, the story is horrible 2 hours into the game.

There is no linear character development, it is all team-based. No longer do you have a simple character tree that you can modify to play the way you like to, perhaps developers realized the simplicity of using a drone to do everything, especially with just simply calling in enemy factions in, start a gun battle, then call the police, and let the bad guys kill one another off as you easily walk in and around the dead bodies to achieve your mission was too easy. Now there are 4 kinds of drones, all having different singular unique skills that allow you to approach the 'puzzles'. The spider drone is basically your evolved RC car that seemingly has more range than anything. I was easily able to do most of the first missions with it alone while sitting on the street level hidden behind a bin. The English pound is now ETC a form of cryptocurrency that is only there for clothing, no more car purchases, or 3D printer upgrades. Nope, you just buy clothes. Turn your male character into a drag queen, by endless stupid masks and run around with a gas mask... whatever?! The cryptocurrency is boring and to be honest just a side mission. Especially considering you can jump from person to person and STILL use the SAME clothing you paid for and have access to the SAME wallet as before, this is seemingly a bad concept.

Elements from Assisans Creed make their way into how people interact with buildings. Generic doors open up with an all-black mysterious backdrop that people come out of.... seems a bit corny if you ask me. I don't care if it adds realism, when you're walking by a shop and a random 1-way door opens and a model just emerges, it looks corny as hell. As far as the city modeling goes, it is excellent and to be honest one of the more 'lived in' worlds I have ever played in. The cars often have no one in them, so hi-jacking these AR cars are easy and with no risk. I am guessing the automatically driven cars of the future will work similarly; however, the motorcycles/ mopeds operate manually and have poorer handling than previous games, especially in the city. Drones fly throughout the city and can be commandeered for your use, alternatively, they are able to be summoned for different tasks and needs.

Even with 2+ hours of the game played, I am a bit disappointed at the 'evolution' of the title. I am playing on HARD and the game is easy. Very forgiving and to be honest, at times it tests my skill as a gamer, it is not 'hard'. Even with permadeath on I am able to do a lot of missions without much loss or worries. Some are ultra-easy and I am baffled by the ease of completion - I am not some pro gamer, so it is a bit shocking how easy things are.

This is by far one of the more, bleh versions of the game. WatchDogs_2 was better.

AAA Gaming landscape overall would be pretty empty without Ubisoft. That's just fact.
They release huge and even smaller games every single year. Not everything hits the nail, but it would be miracle if everything did. 2019 was generally huge mistake for them and i'm pretty confident it wont happen again. They simply can't afford it. Not everything hits the nail, but it would be miracle if everything did. 2019 was generally huge mistake for them and i'm pretty confident it wont happen again. They simply can't afford it. Even tho they have millions of fans around the world, there seems to be this small group of angry/hateful people who try to damage their games by giving zero scores without even buying the game and not only their games, other companies as well (these people don't actually really care about gaming, they just have nothing better to with their lives, it's very obvious). And this mass downvoting on watch dogs legion literally day 1 is perfect example of that. Assassin's Creed has way larger fanbase (literally millions) than watch dogs, so hopefully Assassin's Creed fans are ready to protect Valhalla when it releases, because this kind of mass downvoting can't happen again. Now about the game, been playing around 20 hours i think. So far it's pretty fine watch dogs entry, i wasn't expecting anything crazy anyway from this, but it's solid 7.5, maybe even 8 for how good London looks.

Gunplay functions great, I would, however, like to be less restricted when it comes to my gun selection. A system where you could have a universal arsenal of weapons instead of limiting certain weapons to an individual character would be a far better alternative in my opinion.

The play as anyone perspective was handled well. While the ability to play as over 9 million different characters raises questions and concerns, I personally believe it was handled better than expected. The characters have their own unique abilities and personalities. From a gameplay perspective, ''Play as Anyone'' was handled greatly.

The story is typical Ubisoft, and gets stale as hell after a few hours. I think the overall plot of Zero Day vs DedSec was incredibly interesting, but unfortunately the story became quickly incredibly subpar and predictable. While it did have a few golden moments to look back at, most of the story just came down to ''Go here, Hack this, **** off''
The story also lacks in personal interest in the main protagonist, since.. well.. there isn't a main protagonist. I don't have a reason to care for ****ing Bob Wilson when i know all of his dialogue and reactions are the same for 9+ million playable characters. They don't overgo the same developments as the single-protagonists stories, and there isn't really a lot of character in any of these people besides Sabine and Bagley.

I am giving this an 8/10. Watch Dogs has always been about wrecking havoc and having a blast with different hacking tools at your disposal. This game delivers perfectly in that aspect. And with over 9 million different characters as your disposal, you can constantly find new innovative ways to wreck havoc across the town. And while the story is very subpar, I don't want weigh too much of my ranking on the story, as the story has never been a main focus in any Watch Dogs game. You don't play Watch Dogs to hear an adventure, you play Watch Dogs to have fun.

The game world is so amazingly crafted as every UBISOFT game. There is so much to do and secrets to uncover and they rebuild London perfectly. Sometimes it's the same character with a different code of paint but there are so enough you rarely find someone that looks and sounds exactly the same but that doesn't mean you'll find some agents the same looking agents because it's random. It’s most often a jumbled mess of weird hair, outfits, and voices that never seen to quite match. It forces you to grind to find someone you like, bringing everything to sudden a halt just to find a regular looking and sounding character. The game makes the spiderbot an optional gadget but it’s so often needed to progress the story it just gives you one anyways next to the area you need it. Gadgets and weapons inventory and selection is clunky in terms of navigation and very limiting in terms of what you can use. Same with car options and cars are just so bad to drive again, worse than watch dogs 1 clunky mechanics. The design is basically fetch quests after fetch quests with the occasional spiderbot/drone/hacking to break it up from time to time. There’s no reward system that feels rewarding collectibles aren’t anything, there’s some graffitiing billboards but it doesn’t do anything or Reward you anything. Much like most of the game it’s just a hollow option for filler. The game mechanics are wonky as hell. The combat is just one button to hit, one button to grab, one button to dodge. It gets very repetitive and boring. You’re limited to the type of guns you can get depending on your operative and there’s no rhyme or reasoning for it. The map feels bland, generic, and lifeless. There’s more npc roaming around but it all just feels pointless. Youd hacks from previous games are almost existent. You can’t money hack unless your operative has that, there’s no black out hack, not traffic lights hack, no steam bursting from the ground hack, there’s no cranes to hack, and even something as simple as hat surfing is almost impossible. you can’t walk into stores, most inside buildings beside 1 to 2 floors become a loading screen, interiors often repeat themselves, level design is copy and paste, no enemy variety, After a while this whole game just feels like the same fetch quests with no rewarding feeling. A tremendous disappointment. But the worst of it is the numerous technical issues that plague the game. Literal game breaking bugs. Horrendous screen tearing. Audio not coming in. Button prompts not appearing. The game crashes after an hour or so. The worst offender — There’s no manual save. So the game crashes and crashes and there’s only an occasionally working auto save. When you try to exit through the menu it crashes. When you play the game it crashes. When you put your system into rest mode it crashes. Twice I’ve have my save file corrupted from crashes and I can’t continue. 15 hours in crashes corrupted. 29 hours in crashes and corrupted. The game is boring, repetitive, uninspired and literally unplayable. Expand

Had no expectations whatsoever. I didn't like watch dogs 2 in 2016, so i basically gave up on this series. basically because everything was just too colorful and i preferred darker tone of watch dogs 1. Honestly, I was disappointed but unsurprised by the lack of polish and depth present in this game. While the systems are somewhat interesting to interact with in terms of character recruitment, I felt that this interest quickly fades into resentment. What’s good:
    - Dense open world with a LOT of characters roaming its streets
    - All gadgets and weapons feel fun to use (personal fav being the cloak)
    - Story itself is at least serviceable

    What’s meh:
    - Driving is fine. Not good, but functions well enough to move around the world at a speed greater than walking
    - Currency system and customization is okay, but honestly felt lacking in options and true customization
    - Enemy’s have enough brains to pose “some” resistance, but by no means feel smart

    What’s bad:
    - Recruitable characters feel shallow, poorly acted/generated, and poorly planned. A nemesis system might have worked better, with a singular core character and lots of disposable recruits to bring in. I never felt much of an attachment to my characters, and didn’t care when I lost them as I could just get more.
    - Hacking feels worse than in previous games, with some abilities locked to certain characters. There aren’t any blackout or gang-call type abilities that would have wowed me.
    - Melee, as the majority of combat you see, isn’t very fun. It can feel frustrating or way too easy, but never a perfect balance. I just ended up dodge-punching everything for as long as I could.
    - Optimization, even on PS4 isn’t great. Long load times and a few crashes have soured my experience during my play through.
    - Little to do; Liberating the map as quickly as possible might make the game much less fun for you. Doing so clears much of the Albion presence, reducing the amount of conflict you are in. Doing so is also pretty easy, taking only a few objectives per district in order to reach Defiant status.

All in all, I wasn’t particularly thrilled by my experience with Legion. It clearly wanted to do something ambitious with its “play anyone” mechanics. However, I believe that it should have either a.) had a single, well-written protagonist with a cast of characters to match, and then put in some sort of nemesis system, or b.) had a customizable first character to function as leader to the others. Slightly below the standard set by Ubisoft in previous titles, and well below what is expected from AAA games.

I don't understand this review bombing? The game is excellent. Sure, it is very similar to Watch Dogs 1 and 2. Still a great game, beautiful and super fun. No bugs encountered so far, the game is very polished on PlayStation. The game does exactly what it promised. Recommended.

Perfect game to end this awful year with. Finally something positive. Not some depression simulator like last of us 2. I'm not saying it's best game of 2020, no it's not, but it's solid enough and maybe dlc's make it even better.
Extremely hyped for Assassin's Creed Valhalla tho.

Pretty good game, way better than watch dogs 2. DLC is also really promising. They are finally bringing Aiden back. Can't wait.

Ignore the reviews that say full of bugs or lack of depth. WDL hits the nail on the head if you want to race around a extraordinary well set out cyberLondon. Imo the character system works well and is quite funny, WDL doesnt take itself seriously.

All the London landmarks are there, and its got a london vibe about the place, lots of different accents, but not as OTT as I thought. Lots of gadgets to unlock and play with, gun play is good, much like GTA5. I didnt find it as annoying as GTA5, control of vehicles is better, able to throw about the streets without crashing all the time. The hacking via phone system is not complicated and, again, gameplay flows well. I must admit, missions where I rescued hostages or just shot my way in and out felt very SAS style.....but if you choose to use every stealth skill you have then its straight foward. Im not a great fan of being stealthy, but I really got into using a spiderbot or a stealth shield. Looking at other reviews I have seen people giving a 0 for ridiculous reasons, no english option in a Russian copy of the game or saying there is no tower bridge. Overall this is a fun game, and its great to be in London. Its also nice to be part of a resistance against a police state, rather being a gangland boss ect GTA style. Great soundtrack as well. It'll be nice to win money for stunts in bikes ect .... maybe.. but really really really, its worth a 10 as it does london really well imo. Also, I have seen or had no bugs or crashes at all. Nothing on Ps4 pro

It's no GTA V, but it's solid open world London to chill around in, hack stuff, fly drones, drive cars, recruit npc's, explore London underground hidden areas. It's cool. Nothing special, but i would rather buy this than marvel's avengers, re3remake or dark pictures.

It's so funny to read "reviews" from users who haven't even played it. But i bet they would pirate it by any chance lmao. London is beautiful, game is fun enough. Ubisoft is clearly back on track and i'm more than happy for it. Ubisoft is amazing company that makes tons of different games every year, more than any other company could even imagine doing. And yes i'm saying that as hardcore Rockstar Games fan. Watch Dogs Legion improves on (almost) every aspect over previous game. It's fun, it's interesting enough. There's tons of stuff to discover and do. What else were these people expecting who leave 0's? I bet none of these losers even cared if this game comes out or no, their whole meaning of life is just whining about video games, instead of actually enjoying them. I guarantee they pirate cyberpunk day 1 tho. Expand

Beautiful open world game to have fun with. Haven't had any major bugs or problems personally (7 hours in). Not every game needs to be earth-shattering to be good.

I find it really impressive. The visuals (PS4 Pro) are great, can't imagine how it will look on PS5. The story also (if you listen alone to the audio logs littered in the world) is very engaging, as long as you love science fiction.

The interactivity of the city is something Rockstar Games probably can not shy away from any longer, especially after the upcoming Cyberpunk.

What happened with driving mechanics? Is it so difficult to learn from GTA 5? I just can't...
Thankfully there are some settings that make driving little bit better, but still...
Anyway, that out of the way, London looks actually amazing. I could literally explore it for hours, just drive around with drones and enjoy landscape (city). Game looks very good on PC and solid enough on PS4

Watch Dogs Legion's London is perfect place for hacking game. I would like to see some another European city in next watch dogs game instead of another US city. I have nothing against American cities, Chicago was cool, but i just love European architecture.

Graphics - from 8 to 9.5 (depending if you play on base console or PC).
Design of London - 9 / 10 (very immersive city, well done from open world aspect)
Sound design - 7.5 (it's okay) Voice acting - from 3 to 8 (literally depends what character you have) Better than WD1? - No. Standout aspects? - Recruit any npc you see on streets of London into your army. Performance - Depends on

This is day 1 release on all platforms and it works (for the most part) well enough. Specially compared to some other releases from recent years like RDR2 from Rockstar. It took them 3 months to RDR2 to somewhat okay performance level. I'm saying all this as huge rockstar fan by the way, but that launch was absurdly disappointing. WD Legion actually runs well enough, even tho it clearly needs performance boost, but at least it can actually keep 60fps even with rtx on and i haven't personally had basically any bugs or crashes. There many other comparisons i could make like Fallout 76 launch (even tho they never even tried to fix this game) and Just Cause 4 launch was just awful. So compared to all these, Watch Dogs Legion is pretty solid and i'm having fun so far. Expand

Watch Dogs: Legion is far from perfect. It tries to tell a story about resisting oppression via the power of the people, but the concept of making any character in the world a viable choice means that the experience ends up being too broad and vague. I was able to spice things up by bringing my own roleplay to characters and used items that weren’t necessary, but this was my way of compensating for the ways in which Watch Dogs: Legion falls short of what I want from a triple-A adventure.

What you’re left with is a game that delivers a greatlooking futuristic London, and not much of anything else. It suffered a hefty delay, and the series transitioned from Ubisoft Montreal to Ubisoft Toronto. Something has been lost here, and we can’t help but feel that the commitment to making any character playable is the core issue. That’s been made possible, but just because Ubisoft could, that didn’t mean the developer should have. [Issue#182, p.147]

Watch Dogs: Legion is undoubtedly the best of the series, the one that is closest to bringing the experience promised by that trailer of the first game. Hacks are useful and the lack of a fixed character ends up making DedSec the true protagonist and, since we recruit, control and manage the operators, in the end we end up feeling part of the resistance.
