The AI, however, can be easily exploited in sections and some side quests and even main quest have some real issues. Incredible graphics, fantastic sound, remarkable soundtrack and great story telling. The AI, however, can be easily exploited in sections and some side quests and even main quest have some real issues. Looting is frustrating until you get used to the incredibly narrow loot range and direction - was done to allow for looting in combat but it also makes looting a chore when not in combat. There are some glaring clipping issues and sound overlay problems but that is to be expected in a game that provides well over 100 hours of game play. Combat difficulty is extremely varied and its easy to out level the main quest content if you do a significant number of side quests so be cautious if you enjoy a challenge.

    I recommend this game highly to anyone that enjoys RPGs, despite some of the nagging minor issues. This is a game that will stay with you for a long time and is a fitting closure to Geralt of Rivia's tale.

    GRAPHICS: The graphics are spectacular but demanding on the PC. You do need to have a substantial rig to fully enjoy the graphical fidelity. On console the graphics are well executed and meet the "next gen" standard.

    SOUND: Really well done ambient, combat and location sound effects that create a very compelling atmosphere. However there are some sound bugs where certain effects will linger and over power dialogue which is annoying and immersion breaking.

    SOUNDTRACK: The soundtrack is phenomenal and very fitting to the setting, well implemented and strikes a chord at the right moments with excellent fading and transition some exceptions where, like the ambient sound effects, the music is overly loud and will interfere with dialogue delivery.

    VOICE ACTING: Superb voice acting, with good dialogue and consistently well delivered lines. The NPC dialogues in areas could use a bit more variety perhaps as it can become monotonous and even irritating to hear certain dialogues over and over.

    STORY: Excellent stories and very compelling, rich character development using multiple story telling devices including cut scenes, descriptions, items and game play. One of the best stories in gaming.

    GAME PLAY: The combat is varied, from easy to difficult and is usually dependent on preparation and build but the AI can have issues at times. Otherwise the combat is fun and is adjustable to play style ranging from light armored dodging, fast attacks and signs to heavy armored tanking and the middle path of a little of both. The limitation on healing allows for tension and precision and can be challenging. Crafting is well implemented and can play a vital part in the game. Gwent, the mini card game is really quite fun but can be completely ignored if you don't enjoy it.

    GAME DESIGN: Great level design and a vast open world to explore. Secret passages, caches, and unusual ruins compel the player to explore. The exploration is also well rewarded with great story telling and really well developed characters outside of the main quest. The quest design is some of the best since the Secret World and many developers should take note of the quest design in this game as it sets the bar very high for the genre and for games in general. Even after completing the main story the remaining quests, even the ones that are low level, are enticing just for the stories that they tell.

    The Witcher 2 intro is a master piece, so I was disjointed with the beginning of the Witcher 3, but then I played it.... it is as close as you can get today to a perfect game. The side quests are interesting and worth doing, with Gerald ending up performing in a play or needing to choose between bad and very bad.

    This game is an absolutely awesome time vampire! I honestly have no complaints aside from a few bugs here and there but nothing too freak out about. CD Project Red should have just made this game an MMORPG. There is so much in this game and it's just so good, you don't want it to end.

    We have idiots rating this 0/10 because of his troubles with his PC. DONT PLACE THIS **** IN CONSOLE REVIEVS SECTION....
    Graphics and atmosphere of Poland just pours out of the screen. If Youre not from Poland and want to spend vacation in this country all You have to do is launch Witcher 3.
    One of the best games ever created - do Yourself a favour and try this one out.

    I've been playing rpg's for more than 20 years and, until now, I've never been one to put any above others as a "king" of it's genre. But the sheer scope, atention to detail and how well it combines exploration, storytelling and it's own style of gameplay, warrants Witcher 3 that title.
    It's Story, characters, dialogue, quest/world/creature design are second to none of this genre.     It's Story, characters, dialogue, quest/world/creature design are second to none of this genre. The world design can only be described as the most immersive, belieavable ecosystem ever crafted in any video game with an art style and atmosphere that perfectly captures architecture of mid european cities/village communities of it's historical time. Graphics,voice acting and music are of the highest quality. Gameplay is vastly improved from previous title...it is still not as responsive as Bloodborne or has the same quality of animations such Arkham series, however it more than makes up for it with an amazing variety of creatures and different types of AI, preparation through alchemy, learning your foes' weaknesses through extensive bestiary, use of magic signs that you can also use on your environment to give you advantage, as well as other tools at your disposal such as bombs, crossbow etc.
    It is not without rough spots though...such as UI( Inventory system), AI ( horse riding), controls and camera as well as suffering from no small number of bugs/glitches. Honestly, until CDPR takes care of these things, I would give it a 9...however I'm rating it a bit higher to negate childish stupidity of those who downvote this game because they feel threatened by any game that surpasses their favorite title.
    This is not merely another great game...it's place lies next to titles such as Chronotrigger, Half Life, Morrowind and others...games that mark a generation and leave higher standards for others to follow.    … Expand

The fact that the game was constantly dipping into the 20 FPS range was not good and made a mediocre game even worse. Let's see, the universe is all right. The story is absolutely dog **** and confusing but if you ignore it and look around at the universe then that's the enjoyable part. The story is just so bland there's no point in praising it. The story is just an excuse for the horrible gameplay. Go here because A said so. Well B isn't where A said he was better find him. Oh C told me B is over at D. Turns out B isn't at D better find B. That's the level of depth we're talking about here. The actual gameplay is super boring. It's slow, clunky, and a mixture of too easy and hard. I was able to beat a boss standing still with my thumb on one button but as soon as I see a level 1 dog I'm dead because it just runs by and attacks me similar to an AoE attack without slowing down. Geralt is too slow to do anything. Buy the game to say you played it but save the reciept.… Expand

    Deep stories. Yes stories, cause every damn story, from main to side is memorable interesting, I played on a PC that could take the recommended spec and had next to no problems - amazing graphics - and the detail to the world is insane!
    The best RPG storydriven game I have ever played, and I've played a lot...
    It's worth every penny on PC if you can run it.

    Almost perfect in its presentation, being both a beautiful game and a horrifying game. Each character is well written and every quest has an interesting back story.     So I purchased Witcher 3 over the weekend, opting to favour it over TESO.

    The game is incredible. The voice acting and characters are fully believable and the depth of the world is humongous! The fighting as many others have said, is a lot smoother and skilful than that in the Elder Scrolls. However, the real genuine surprise to me was how Witcher 3 managers to be so clever as an RPG...
    As an example, early on in the game you encounter a Lord who seems fair and just in his encounter with a peasant. You even have the option to defend him in conversation soon after, only then to remeet him and realise he's a complete Tool. It made me realise how many open world RPGs give the player the option of being the Hero or villain in their own story, while making the assumptions upon the world they explore based on very little of what is said. In the Witcher 3 the game punishers you for being naive or quick to conclude opinions. Unlike DA Inquisition, peasants dont cheer you but hate you and you are alienated by all fractions. This to me makes it a very unique style of RPG in that you are out for yourself far more than other games - that said I'm only 10% into the game, who knows what turns may come.

    Shame on those rating this game 0 or 1 ... it's ridiculous to give such a heavy-weight RPG such a low rating, when the graphics, sound, world design, combat and lore is all excellent, really, almost perfect. Anyone reading and thinking of buying - I've hesitated for a few weeks, but now I'm delighted that I got it. Another huge RPG to get my teeth into over the coming months.

    The only reason I've not rated this a 10 is that I'm a tart for character creation. IF the story allowed for a unique Witcher to rise up, or even started with a prelogue training a character up, it would be an easy 10. Small thing I know, but it does make this game just shy of perfect imo    … Expand

    I have been gaming since mid 80s, and this is my 5th 10/10 game. It's not perfect, no game is, but it's above it's competition in basically everything. It wouldn't be fair to give it any less than the max score.
    I'm playing on hard (not the hardest) on PS4 version (about 30 hours in, so far), so these are my impressions:

    + no invisible walls (due to the open nature of the world, the ability to swim and the addiction of a jump button, you can basically explore any place)
    + unpredictability (as opposed to the schematic nature of Ubisoft games ['you picked 3 treasures out of 30', 'you climbed 1 tower out of 10', etc], in The witcher 3 everything seems random and natural.
    + exploration (again, due to it's unpredictability, exploration in TW3 couldn't have been more misterious and rewarding)
    + Sound (amazing OST, sound effects and voice acting)
    + content (insane amount of content)
    + gwent (for the first time in my life, i see myself investing hours on a game's minigame)

    - combat (while it's still good, it wasn't greatly improved compared to the previous game)
    - loading times (they are too long, gladly there are few of them)
    - Portuguese subtittles in Brazil but not in Portugal??? This is not acceptable...    … Expand

    9)Geralt is hilarious in my opinion

Great, mature main plot and fantastic original side quest. it has some technical issues but it is not important when You realize that this game is extraordinary and this is the best RPG experience ever.     I'm literally blown away by this game and would put it high up as one of the most immersive games I've ever played. I'm about 30 hours in, level 13 and only just reached Novigrad, the story has me gripped, the side quests have me gripped and I already feel attached to the characters andI'm literally blown away by this game and would put it high up as one of the most immersive games I've ever played. Some of my favourite games in the past include the Final Fantasy series, Skyrim/Oblivion and GTA series. I'm about 30 hours in, level 13 and only just reached Novigrad, the story has me gripped, the side quests have me gripped and I already feel attached to the characters and world.

    I'm not usually a fan of "Mini game" type things in RPG's but even the card game Gwent has me hooked trying to acquire the unique cards and beating the best players.

    The choices you make throughout the game can have dramatic consequences either immediately or further down the line which often makes you think about your choices and responses to people.

    Anyone who is a fan of huge open world games should buy this, you won't be disappointed. 10/10.    … Expand

    This game so far has blown me away with excellent storytelling and characters. The only game that I have played where the sidequests have really meaning and weave in and out of the main story. The whole world feels alive as well, my only gripes are some of the technical foibles, including framerate drops and occasional glitches. Either 9.75 or 10 from me.

    Truly genius game, Leaves Skyrim behind and that's really big. Splendid graphics, solid story, attention to details, good control of character, and a huge world only for you to discover. Really must play. Love this game, love even playing Gwent, I really want this as a board game! Good work Warner Bros!!

    If you are looking for one game that give you hours of fun, and a lot of ways to play, this is the option. Witcher 3 is huge in all ways, great story 18+ of course, lot of fighting, weapons, RPG finally. Beautiful looking of the world and tons of fan service. Give a try cause also the physical standar edition includes a map, soundtrack in a disc and more, this is a GOTY for sure

    There is a really serious and almost excellent work in this game and I think the Witcher 3 is the best from everyside in the Trilogy. Just the voice acting could be enough for you. It makes choosing your conversations and their effects on your story's fate great. I must say the "downgrade" thing was really bad, I expected more but by the way this game worth when you play it. I have had issues with it and have had to reload the game after i got stuck inside of Geralt's head and couldn't talk or advance a Quest. But to call the combat bad is such a cop-out. if you have even touched BloodBourne, you will know the struggles of getting use to controls and cursing at the TV after dying 35I am shocked to hear that so many gamers are whining over the control system.     The Witcher 3's open world as well as the Main, Secondary and Witcher Missions are fantastic. Simply put, it is refreshing to have an open world game that didnt miss the mark like Dragonage: Inquisition.

    Can i talk about how addictive the in-game game GWENT is?!?!? terribly addicting. I felt often times i should just collect gwent card across the kingdoms instead of fight monsters for hidden treasure or continuing the unbelievable story for fear it will end. 10/10, i really don't see how this doesn't win game of the year.    … Expand

    The Witcher 3's subject matter, its almost defiant doubling down on its treatment of women as titillating props for Geralt and the player, even as it tries to flesh out more female leads, is its most disappointing aspect. This constant presence weighs down what would otherwise be an excellent bit of closure for Geralt's video game saga — which isn't helped by the control issues that often detract from sequences meant to break up open-world monotony.
