This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It isn't ridiculous to think Joel may be killed off in this game because of his actions from the first game. Although sad, it made sense in a way. If I was making the game myself would I have killed him off this early or at all? No, but it didn't ruin the game for me. I enjoyed about 75% of this game, the game-play is special, I would be lying if I said I enjoyed the ending. I would be lying if I said I didn't think they added an underlying message which I felt was unnecessary, maybe this doesn't go for everyone but I'm completely comfortable with characters within a game being of whatever sexual preference, whatever gender they want, I just want a good story and it felt unnecessary to go through Lev's whole journey to becoming trans (just my opinion). The last couple of hours of this game made me forget how much I enjoyed a whole lot of it, Joel's death was sad but I feel like it could very much be justified for his actions at the end of the first Last of Us. Good, not great. Expand

I loved the first game with all my heart. So much so that I considered naming my child after the characters. A ground breaking moment in video game story telling that has since set the bar for all other video games and there hasn’t been a video game since then that has come close to it in my opinion. Including this game. This game will not only live in its predecessors shadow forever butI loved the first game with all my heart. So much so that I considered naming my child after the characters. A ground breaking moment in video game story telling that has since set the bar for all other video games and there hasn’t been a video game since then that has come close to it in my opinion. Including this game. This game will not only live in its predecessors shadow forever but it will always be remembered, by me at least, as a hideous black mark left upon the face of what could have easily been one of the greatest video game franchises of all time. Being such a die hard fan when the leaks happened I naturally championed and defended the game as much as I possibly could for a month or so before it came out and unfortunately I’ll be eating all those words and then some. This game isn’t “woke” trash like it was made out to be. What this game actually is, from the story perspective, is a completely convoluted, contrived, ass backwards mess. This game was simply put together wrong. We are constantly asked to disband our belief through out the entire game for the sake of a story that is sub par at best. We are introduced to new characters through out the entire game and are asked to care about them just to have them die at an instant just so we have a route to the next section of this misguided mess of a game. The characters that return from the first game all act COMPLETELY out of character throughout the entirety of the game and on top of that the writing of these once beloved characters are treated with such tasteless disregard that by the end of the game I could not stand Ellie. The characters we got in the first are not what you get in the second. For what reason? Because revenge is bad? So in order to get that message across to us you have to completely rewrite established characters in to senseless, soulless, mindless killing machines? And then there’s Abby. I actually liked Abby unlike most people. The problem I have with her is more of the garbage pacing this game has to do with her rather than her herself. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this was put together completely backwards. I give Naughty Dog credit for trying to do something different but I also shame them for falling on their face and doing a complete disservice to the franchise and the fans. Yes, this is the best looking video game I have ever seen and I feel sorry for all of the extremely talented people who spent years putting this together (outside of the writers) and yes, there was parts of the story I did enjoy and the game play is good too. But you can only ask so much from your fans while you spit on them and the characters they love for 25 hours. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Alot of people who played this when it first came out 7 years ago on playstation 3 couldn't have asked for a better story driven game. That however is not the case with The last of us part 2. It has already been said so many times but how do you mess up so badly on a game that had potential to go so many different ways than what it got. I didn't look at any spoilers at all until after I was done with the game and by then I understood why people were upset, some maybe a bit more than others but I understood. What annoyed me the most throughout the game was that everything seemed somewhat predictable, the banter that Joel and Ellie had in the first game is non-existent in this game with Dina and Jesse it all felt so unnatural and you just didn't feel anything for these characters as you did with for example Sam and Henry in the first game. I actually had to stop playing for a few mins when Sam and Henry died because I was genuinely shocked in the way it was executed. The way Joel died was pathetic and stupid and I was honestly left emotionless with his death, I was in such huge disbelief that they killed him off in such a pathetic way. Hell i'm still in disbelief about the entire game and that this is what we got after waiting for 7 years. We didn't need to play as Abby for 10+ hours, you could've taken that time and put in some more screentime with Joel and Ellie. So why is it still a 5/10, well because I do believe that gameplay and graphics matter to a certain degree and the story was bad there isn't any doubt about it but it still made me feel a few things along the way. There were some great moments where naughty dog really managed to capture the horror aspect of the game. I was constantly sitting and asking myself ''when do the stalkers from the first game show up ?'' and they didn't let me down there. The infected in the game is a solid upgrade from the first game and combat overall felt good. However with that said what we got after waiting for 7 years could've been done alot better and it really makes me sad as a massive fan to the last of us 1 to say, we probably would've been better off without having to witness this story. The ending was disappointing and pointless I would rather have Ellie kill the woman who killed her father figure than to let her walk freely. Hoping there will be a DLC to see if Ellie gets closure and kill Abby. Other than that I'm quite disappointed with this game, and shocked with the meta score being so close to the original. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. “Si algún día te perdiera, seguramente me perdería a mí mismo”.
The last of us intenta.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After playing the The Last of Us Part 2 for 11 hours, my thoughts...

Gameplay graphics, physics, cinematics are beautiful. This is easily one of best looking PS4 games ever. Better than God of War, Marvel Spider-Man, etc.

This game has larger, open, more explorable environments. This is where the game shines. Deviating from the main path to explore another route or building proved quite thrilling at times. They weren't kidding when they said you'd need a horse to get around sometimes.

The musical soundtrack is pretty dull except when you run or encounter enemies. The gameplay feels exactly like its predecessor. However, this game is more refined and polished. Being able to dodge and go prone proves invaluable in enemy encounters.

The dialogue and voice acting is superb. Some of the best I have ever seen since the Witcher 3 and Red Dead Redemption 2. I will acknowledge this game is not fun to play. It's moody, depressing, and devoid of any jubilant emotions. It can be rather boring. I'd advise watching comedy movie after playing this because you'll likely be feeling down.

I will say this game has more intense enemy encounters than it's predecessor. Regarding the leaks, if you have already spoiled yourself then yes everything you heard or seen is true. That's all I say.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ok, so let's get this right. the graphics are superb. possibly the best atm and the gameplay is quite good and i honestly have no idea what else they could add. but there is a reason i did not give it a 10, and for which no one has given it a 10, and that reason is divided in a few specific points. 1) how brutal Joel's death was. i honestly felt almost as Ellie with the zumbing ears and all. it hit us all hard and all got enraged, which was the objective, this did not cause a lower score in my review though. 2) we all were quite immersed in the story, following Ellie's (and our) quest for revenge, when suddenly they clash with Abby and GD BOOM, we play as Abby, the character we hate the most. i get the point, we all did. Abby wanted to get revenge in the first place, but it did not make Joel deserving of such a tormentous death, more so when he and Tommy had just saved her. She killed our most beloved character in a horrible way. and then we are forced to play as her. this was the first game that instead of making me feel good and have fun, made me feel angry while playing it, and not angry at a scene or a bug, but at the game's design itself, because i had to play as someone i hated and no, i never grew fond of her, i simply kept hating her more and more. before being forced to play as Abby, the game had a 10/10 to me. 3) The difference on difficulty between playing as Ellie and Abby, when we start playing as Abby, we are already pissed, but what also pissed me off was the fact that Abby's journey was so much harder, making Ellie's feel like an introduction or tutorial. 4)The story, was not the best i can't lie. it had more than a friggin way to be so much better and intense. the insight onto Abby was completely unnecesary, and the ending, made it all look absurd. but honestly what i hated the most was playing as Abby. it was stupid and unnecesary, like at all. if a part 3 is coming, i doubt i'll play it. cause i don't see Ellie being there, i see Abby, and like Ellie, i only remember Joel's death when looking at her. playing as Tommy would have been so much better instead of her. so the game's great, until they make you play as Abby, force you to beat the **** out of your second most beloved character and then, when you have the chance to finally get revenge on her, let her live, leaving all the previous events as worthless. This game does a great job making you hate a character and then making you hate the game itself. other than that, the game is good and at least deserves to be played. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Graphics are the best of its kind. Gameplay is a little bit repetitive. It is still very fun to play. But the story and the way game serves the story is below expectations. First you kill the main character of the first game, then at the very important part of the game you put a 6-10 hours long flashbacks. It gets boring after a short amount of time.

Finally flashbacks are over. We're moving forward. Ellie makes a desicion that makes no sense and goes after Abby. Finds and tries to kill her with a knife when she is very weak already. At the very end she changes her mind and let Abby go. So why did she made this desicion from the start? It doesn't make sense.

If this was not a Last of Us game, I still wouldn't like the story. Basically there is an originally 30 minutes long story but they serve you this story for 20 hours by mashing it up with wonderful graphics and gameplay.

The awful thing is the story, the player don´t want to play with Abby is very disgusting play with her in the Seattle day 1, maybe that three days with Abby is not necessary. The inclusion of some subjects politically correct is not a problem, are well treated, and relatively necessary at this point of the human history, for me there is no a problem. Maybe if you choose to change the order in your mind, maybe could be a better story or begin the story again and understand more.

They’re are so many small details in the game that are so good but I couldn’t possibly list them all because nobody has time for that... The story didn’t stick with me as hard as the first game did. I felt like the pacing was off, and that the story might have benefited from being told in a different chronological order. However I respect the decision that the writers made and know it is meant to be more than a revenge story. With that being said, the game is almost too long, and it almost becomes a chore to play when getting towards the end because it has been drawn out so much. Lastly the gameplay can get a bit monotonous and stale, combat is fundamentally the same as the 1st game, and upgrading weapons is not as rewarding/fun as the first game.

Overall this game is pretty good. A ton of work went into the game and it shows. I understand the frustration behind certain aspects of the story (and those certain events pissed me off as well) but overall it is still a quality game. The game does get unnecessary hate and it is by no means a 0/10 game, but I wouldn’t say it is a perfect 10/10 either. If you’re on the fence about buying this game, I would wait for it to go on sale or something (or wait for the inevitable remastered ps5 version of the game).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Expand

Sounds 10/10 (best I had ever heard if not perfect, the closest it can get)
Lights 9/10 all of these things are amazing and top notch... but the story, man... I think it is a nice story, it was well done but very very poorly executed... Joel’s death... I understand these people hate him and the way they killed him, sure... Joel had it coming, he killed a lot of people, he was not a good guy but we still loved him, in our eyes he was justified, he was a good guy (objectively he wasn’t)... I expected and wanted Joel to die so we would have a purpose but just not this way... The decisions made by Joel in the second game was just plain stupid... and let’s accept that he **** up and got himself bashed by a golf club sure, the more blood the better but then I don’t wanna play as the woman who killed him for 10 hours... that is just boring, there is no redemption for Abby, I don’t wanna connect with her after she killed Joel, maybe if they made me connect with Abby first and then she killed Joel, I would still be angry but I would of not quit playing 50 times while playing as Abby because it was just pointless... I just hope the third game ain’t gonna be this dark and pointless, they just made Ellie suffer (Sure, she went on revenge instead of living her life and so when she comes back she has nothing left) I understand that but it was just not worth playing to be honest, I would have rather just leave everything as they were in the first game... In short, technically this game is amazing 9/10 (It can never be perfect), story wise (which matter to me the most) good story but super **** execution so 5/10 (-5 for **** execution, +5 for the story itself) and not worth full price...

Anyway, the second game is beautiful beyond belief and I am certain it was made for the ps5 first and foremost and that we will see the true magnificent visuals when that console arrives.

But stunning visuals only do so much and even if the game succeeds with representation and also have some really intense action scenes, the story is boring and really not even close to the first game at all. The story is a **** and I am disappointed and I never could have dreamed that the story would be so bad. Yes, the story is dark and gritty but that is also more or less all it is, there are no light to search for when the one is in the darkness. The ending is a catastrophe and I am certain most people will not be happy or even content with it.

I will be honest as I do not think this game is a zero nor is it a ten. People giving the game a zero are but hurt little spoiled brats and people giving it a ten are virtue signaling SJWs. I have nothing against any ethnicity, sexual orientation or religion and the game is not bad because of representation, it is bad despite of representation.

I would give it a 5 out of 10 because it is a gorgeous looking game with gameplay that is ok but not as good as one would expect after such a long time between the first game and this game. The story is literally trash and seems to been have written by someone that is both blind and deaf when it comes to have a feeling for the soul that was present in the first game. Do not buy if you loved the first game for the story, buy it if you really love the gameplay from the first and would love to kill hundreds of people and mushroom-people.

Voice acting is spot on and gameplay generally satisfying, although as the game progressed, it started to get a little repetitive. It mostly consists of getting to an area, clearing it of enemies or sneaking past and repeating this process. It's still fun, you can take them out silently, go guns blazing or set up traps.
This game is not a masterpiece, it's also not a total garbage as most user scores would have you believe - it's just worse then part one and that is the problem.

I’ve never actually felt the need or ever wanted to write a review for a game before.. but after finishing the last of us part II last night I felt a sad sense of relief and emptiness. I want to start off by saying everyone has there own opinions and rightfully so. Love the game or hate the game it’s just nice to have passion about something.

I started this game off already seeing very many leaks that I did not really try to avoid because I’m weak! I had a very negative mind set after see the leaks and was praying what I saw wasn’t real. Going into the game I tried to prepare myself hoping I can find some enjoyment, then it happened... the part everyone is so broken up about! I was pissed and felt betrayed by the company I have grown to love so much. But I trudged on hoping for some sort of real meaningful reason for this decision. I had many highs and lows playing as Ellie, from the many gorgeous sceneries of Seattle to some of the scarier parts like dealing with the scars. The game is beautiful and a lot of passion was put into its world. The soundtrack pulled everything together wonderfully and Ashley had some amazing moments singing and playing the guitar. Everything lead up to a moment where I thought I’d finally come around and it would all makes sense in the end. But it didn’t.. very quickly you are thrown in and force to try and side with Abby (which I really was not about in the beginning). Her story is one of many I’m sure in the world of the last of us that have very bad things happen, I mean it is a post apocalyptic world and nothing is ever going to go as we want it. It was interesting and at times fun and very scary to see the way her story played out. But there was one thing that really stuck in my mind as my time went on with Abby. It was that this game didn’t feel like the last of us anymore. It felt so much like a stand alone game like uncharted lost legacy. It was nice but I bought the last of us to play the last of us.. through all my time I was really just trying to get back to the moment we were all waiting for. I did come around to Abby eventually more so just kind of understanding that she just like everyone else has there reasons for doing things. But I wanted to get back to playing the game I bought. Finally I get back to the moment I was waiting for hoping for a meaningful and satisfying conclusion to what both of these character have been working towards for 20+ hours. But that did not happen, instead we got a very out of character and misleading End. So we thought..

As this point in the game I’m frustrated and confused but still trying to understand where there going with the game. We see things left off on a higher note with Ellie and Dina on a beautiful farm. But it was very short lived.. out of character and misleading again.. we are yet again sent on our mission to continue what we started this journey to do. Somewhat saddened that we left what would have been a good ending and a “somewhat” satisfying conclusion to this story, I set off to finish what was intended of this game. Finally coming to a conclusion after 25 hours of play time we were mislead once again in thinking we might have some sort of relief.. but once nothing happened and you’re left with the question of why?? Why did I did all of this? What was the point of it? I’ve been trying to figure out what the point of it all was but still feel that there was no rewarding aspect. No actual conclusion. The last scene of the game left me saddened. I don’t feel that there was any care or respect put towards these characters.. I felt cheated and felt that naughty dog through Ellie and Joel in the mud. FOR WHAT?? I don’t believe that every game needs a sequel and I feel this is proof of that.. This next part is going to sound really stupid and I’m sure I’ll get a lot of **** for it.. this may not make sense but the game is a disastrous master piece.. it’s very beautiful and made me feel a lot of things most games don’t make you feel. It will definitely stay in my mind for a long time But it issues are so huge that it hurts it. In other words the best parts of the game are so amazing there masterful but the worst part feel so so low..

    ________
I really want to rate this game higher.. The game is incredibly atmospheric and customizable for how you want to play it - have a true survival experience or breeze through the game as if it was nothing. a ton of accessibility options, the best I've seen to date. Lots of eye candy. Definitely for mature audiences only.

    The good:
    ________
Gameplay felt really good, I liked the crafting and upgrade system and the fact that you had to explore to get resources and improve your skill tree. Several collectibles, which, I will give you points for ingame unlocks of some artwork and concept art along with some behind the scenes insights. Some of the puzzle mechanics were really nice, rope puzzles made me feel a little creative. and combat felt tactical and stealthy. There are times when it does give you a fair amount of action gunplay to change the pace, but I felt like it was almost my choice of how to approach each step. Cut scenes are skipabble and are completely seamless between each encounter/puzzle and gives you complete immersion while telling the story.

    The critique:
    _________
I really wish we had gotten an ending where we could have just somehow sided with one or the other character getting their sweet revenge. I thought the story was okay, after reading many reviews from other players and fans of the original, I understand their unhappiness with some of the character's actions. Its a game thats meant to shock your system as much as possible and prove a point. Its cool to have 2 completely different, badass girl characters and very different perspectives. I wish you could replay the game just from one or the other's characters perspective, and have an "alternate" ending where you actually go through with the revenge kill at the end. My first impressions of the game were actually very positive, I couldn't put the controller down, it was captivating. I would say that some of the story/ending felt a bit dragged towards the end or maybe a little incomplete even. They really really tried to one up on their previous TLOU title and they *almost* made it. Unfortunately, the way the game ended was a complete downer after making you go through a large amount of adrenaline-packed gameplay. It has some replay value, so there's that, too.

If you haven't played the original, this game will definitely blow you away.

    - Amazing graphics
    - Breathtaking animations
    - Great voice acting

    Cons
    - repetitive gameplay (based in one area. never feels like you're moving forward in the story.)
    - unlikable characters shoved down our throats
    - lack of character developments (not once did I care for any other character besides the ones from the first games.)
    - questionable gameplay decisions (making us fight a character we love making them feel like the villain. made for one of the most uncomfortable gaming experiences.)
    - poor story (final sequence felt like it was made up on the spot. There is still little known about the rattlers and why they are so important in that moment.)

    SPOILERS ALERT

I never wrote a review in my life, I never wanted to go on the internet and talk about a game or how a particular game changed me for better or worse. But this time I could not hold back the sadness that this game carries.

In the first game you build love between Joel and Ellie. I ask you now my dear player, if someone took Ellie from Joel, if someone dared to hurt Ellie, do you know what Joel would do? If you played the first game you know what he would do because he did what had to be done to save her, and in the second game he says to Ellie that if GOD gave him another chance to change things, he would do everything the same, exactly the same way, and with those words at the end of the conversation he is crying because he knows that he is not perfect but he loves Ellie and nothing else matters.

I know it, the fans know it, Ellie knows it because when Joel was already dead and Ellie was talking to Tommy, she said if it were any of them, Joel would already be halfway to Seattle to settle things. This game has no replay factor, do you want to play for another 30 hours watching Joel being massacred, tortured with golf club on his head? do you want to see people spitting in the face of Joel while he dies? Do you want to remember the face of Uncle Tommy after surviving a gunshot to the head asking for your help in your home while you refuse to avenge Joel? Do you want to see Ellie for 20 hours passing through the valley of the shadow of death feeling guilty for not forgiving Joel and the day she forgave him, the next day they kill him ?? do you want to see Joel's last scene being him crying ?? Want to spend another 10 hours playing with Joel's killer ?? Want to play a game where they lied in the trailers making animations that do not exist in the game suggesting an adventure between Joel and Ellie ???

The last of us part 2 founded its bizarre success on lies. Towards the end, the director still has the courage to take Abby and make her crucified, tortured, starving, having the skin practically leaving her body by being trapped in the sun in the middle of several bodies for when you arrive at your destination with Ellie and get her revenge, feel like **** and feel guilty about wanting to fight her. The fight starts with Ellie passing the knife several times on Abby's body, who doesn't have the strength to even stand, the director puts you in a position for you to feel trash and feel like a bastard even at the time of your revenge, keep putting flashbacks of Joel's disfigured face to create hatred and in the final scene you lost 30 hours and nothing happened, Ellie let Abby go and still lost 2 fingers, even the damn guitar she can't play anymore. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't find it right to kill Abby in those conditions, I wanted a fair fight between Abby in her ordinary state and Ellie in her ordinary state, Ellie calling the Joel's killer out of her boat and saying that it would end there once and for all. Have you seen john wick? Imagine him reaching the end of the film's story, after having killed hundreds of people, finding the killer who killed his dog and saying that he will let him go because revenge doesn’t lead to anything. The last of Us part 2 has no replay factor, unless you want to spend another 25 hours watching everyone you know die and in the end do not avenge the death of the guy who loved you most in all the last of us story .
So far, Uncle Tommy's face has not left my head in disappointment when he finds out that he can no longer count on Ellie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us 2 is not a bad game, it's just not a great one.
Visually, it's stunning, I have no idea how they got these kinds of visuals out of a PS4, the sound design is also fantastic and really added to the horror of the game at times. Both these things really help to sell the atmosphere of this bleak, miserable and destroyed world. But this is pretty much where my praise ends.

The gameplay though initially satisfying with vicious kill animations quickly gets stale when you realise that there is a single stealth take down animation and that this is just a 2013 PS3 game with a shiny new coat of paint, after 12 hours I was more then ready for it to end, but I was all too aware of the fact that this game boasts around 20 hours. I was similarly bored by the gameplay of the first game as the first time I played it was in 2019, however the story and characters made me stick around as I was engrossed in their struggle. And this is where the game's largest issues pop up.

THE CHARACTERS are just bad, they are not interesting, they are not enjoyable to see on screen, and when eventually I kill off he vilains I feel nothing as I know nothing about them, and the game knows this, that's why we get shock twists like 'she was pregenant, aren't you a monster'. My largest issues with the characters come with Ellie, I like Ellie, but not the Ellie you play, I like Journal Ellie, because now Ellie has a journal where she draws and writes down her thoughts amongst other things, but the Ellie in the journal and in-game Ellie feel like 2 completly different characters, because Journal Ellie says a lot about how she feels, but in-game Ellie never acutally shows it, they are 2 seperate entities. You get to learn more about the characters you slaughter later in the game where you play as Abby, and this was just an absolute slog, I did not care for abby and I did not care for any of her firends, which really did not help when I was supposed to feel bad for killing them.

The ending is also just a massive cliche like most of the story, I've seen this story before, I've seen it done far better before it's just a very generic revenge thriller.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After my first play through I thought it was a good, but not great game with a lot of story issues. Ultimately the gameplay and graphics are both 10/10 but the story just falls flat for me.

First, the things that I liked:

    1. I loved the visuals and graphics. It's definitely the best looking game on the PS4, along with U4, RDR2, and TLOU1.

    2. I loved the entirety of Ellie's part of the game. I could honestly play as Ellie for hours and never be bored. I think she's definitely my favorite character.

    3. I liked that all the characters have motivations, are morally grey, and have motives behind their actions. That is something I've always liked and I'm glad ND decided to do that to their characters.

    4. The actual gameplay, especially the combat and the stealth, seem improved from the first game.

    5. I actually liked a lot of the new characters, especially Ellie's group. Not so much Abby's group except for Owen.

    6. I actually loved the final fight between Ellie and Abby and liked the ending. I'm ok with Ellie deciding not to kill Abby even though I felt like Abby should have died.

    7. The worldbuilding was an added bonus I didn't expect. It felt very Fallout-y, which is a good thing.

With that said, there are quite a few negatives that also brings this game down significantly:

    1. I don't buy Joel's actions in the prologue. I find it odd that Joel and Tommy were so willing to give up their names to a stranger even if they were trying to help her. They had to have known that people were coming after him to try and kill him, so I don't know why Tommy and Joel didn't have aliases for strangers that they don't know. Especially since both Tommy and Joel know what Joel did in the first game.

    2. Abby isn't a bad character, I empathized with her and understood where she came from and why she did certain things, but I didn't really enjoy playing as Abby. So it was quite a chore for me to play as Abby for 10-12 hours straight. I much preferred Ellie, and I found it a strange decision to have all the Ellie Days first, then switch to Abby for essentially the rest of the game.

    3. I hated fighting Ellie as Abby. I guess it's mainly because I really like Ellie and I think she's a much better person than Abby is so it was frustrating playing as the person I thought was morally worse than Ellie and trying to kill them.

    4. While Lev isn't a bad character, I honestly didn't understand why the entire Abby storyline revolved around him and Yara. I found it an odd writing decision to not even mention Ellie at all during Abby's storyline, or at the very least, not mention that a "trespasser" is causing trouble in the WLF portions of the city and they don't know who or what it is. The only time we see Ellie is at the theater when Abby confronts them.

    5. Other than Owen and maybe Lev I didn't really like any of the characters in Abby's side.

    6. There were some serious pacing issues with Abby's part of the story, which I felt dragged for a while with no real plot progression to the main storyline.

    7. Not having a moment where Abby comes to realize that killing Joel wasn't worth it, especially after helping out Lev and Yara, was a missed opportunity and an odd writing choice. Especially since we could have empathized with Abby even more if she came to realize in the end that killing Joel wasn't worth it.

    8. I had quite a few glitchy moments.

I think I'm being generous with a 7/10. Its a fun game for the first half, but playing as Abby for 10-12 straight hours is quite a chore and messed with the pacing of the game. It is a fun and entertaining game though with great visuals and gameplay. So I think a 7 is appropriate here.

The game is quite fun to play, the animations, graphics, sound design are top notch, with me being personally fond of ellie in this game and filling in some the blanks of what happened after the first game. But when characters that seem important to the story turn out to just be set pieces it isn't very satisfying and playing as the second main character seems more annoying to me than anything in the game

SPOILER REVIEW: the beginning of the game seems nice at a moments glance but as it continues it picks up to much pace with Joel's death seeming very rushed and forced for the plot, when he died i was more disappointed than sad. The rest of the game with dina and ellie is fun i like the chemistry between them and how it feels more real than some games which is a welcome addition. Then comes the part in which you play as Abby, Joel's murderer. Abby is unlikable from the get go as should be of no suprise since she killed a beloved main character from the first game, her only redeeming quality being the friendship formed with lev who is much more likable than abby. The ending seemed like a slap in the face, with ellie about to kill abby and then says 'nah nevermind' and they all go home. With ellie being left completely alone like she said she was afraid of happening in the first game and with abby having a happier ending than ellie, with abby being able to start over with lev as a person, but ellie is just left depressed and alone. Overall the game is great for its presentation but is not so great for it's substance in storytelling being more disappointing of a game than anything. Again, this is my opinion.

I tried everything to like it but I just found it very boring and dry. 25 hours of gameplay with a badly written story, characters with no depth that I never felt a connection too (unlike all previous naughty dog games) false advertising in the fact it was shown from trailers etc that Joel would be in the game not Abby, the 10 hours of Abby gameplay that wasn’t revealed as I just mentioned and the awful ending that makes the whole game completely null and void. A story about revenge and true horror of the human psyche which just crumbles into nothingness and Ellie never gets her revenge it’s ridiculous. Worst AAA title for a long time. I’m glad people like it but to me that story was just not up to my standards. Everything other than the story was phenomenal the graphics, the music, sounds and gameplay were 10/10 unfortunately the story was 4/10 so I tired to balance it with my 6/10. 7/10 at very best. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The last of us part 2 from a narrative perspective...is a mess. A beautiful mess. This story could have been so much more but due to poor direction and risky decision making by Neill Druckmann the end result simply didn’t quite hit the mark.

By having Abby kill Joel relatively early on in the story it automatically makes her hated by the player. So making said player have to take control of her for 10+ hours was an idiotic decision that frustrated many players( including myself). I feel that this could have been somewhat fixed if the story had been told in a different order. Allow the player to get to know Abby and her connection to Joel before she kills him; that way the player can actually understand to an extent why Abby does what she does. It may not change how you feel about her but at least it gives the player an appreciation for her actions before you have to play as her for half of the entire game. As for Abbys storyline...IT IS COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT TO THE ENTIRE GAMES PLOT!The Seraphites storyline has no impact on the fights between Ellie and Abby or the ending whatsoever! It’s as if Neill Druckmann came up with two entirely different games and decided to cram them both together. It simply DOESN’T WORK! The games ending was poorly executed as well. I don’t mind that the game has a sad ending as it feels rather poetic. What isn’t poetic is that I had to go through the Santa Barbra portion of the game facing off against ANOTHER group that once again have NO BEARING ON THE OVERALL STORY/ MESSAGE OF THE GAME WHATSOEVER! I wish that this section was cut out from the game as it feels tacked on and only serves as a way for Ellie and Abby to fight again. This could have easily been remedied by having a Seattle day 4 where you play as Ellie still hellbent on killing Abby. Then, have the fight scene take place, Ellie let’s Abby go and then have the game finish with Ellie and Dina at the farm where they can finally be happy. As the game comes to a close, we get to watch the flashback between Joel and Ellie where they somewhat reconcile and just like that... the game ends. That’s just my personal take on how I feel the story should have went but to be honest I would be happier with probably anything other than what we got. As for the characters in the game, I felt little connection or interest in any of the side characters besides the ones established in Part 1 as well as Dina. Jesse is a solid character but his only real character trait is that he is the father of JJ and his only role is to serve as your AI partner while Dina rests. However, despite what I just said, I did have quite an interest in Lev( the seraphite defect). His backstory is quite interesting and despite what many people think of Neill Druckmanns supposed “LGBT agenda”, I feel as though Levs sexuality and how it affects him as well as the others around him is the main thing that made me interested in the seraphite storyline. Don’t get me wrong, it is by no means a bad storyline, it just simply didn’t belong in THIS story! The best part about the plot in my opinion is the flashbacks we get as Ellie. Seeing her go to the dinosaur museum warmed my heart and I had a smile on my face the entire time. Truly a beautiful scene and my personal favourite part of the game. It’s unfortunate however that the best parts about this game are the flashback sequences as Ellie. They really put a lot of time and care into crafting these segments and it sucks that that care is not reflected in the main story.

In terms of gameplay, the game controls similarly to the first TLOU with enough newly added enemy types and gameplay mechanics to keep the formula fresh. Approaching encounters is so much fun because there are so many different ways you can play them. From killing enemy’s silently one by one to going on a shooting spree, it really feels like you are the character as they traverse through the game and I love that. The game from a technical standpoint runs great, the audio is spot on and the graphics are breathtaking. These qualities really make you feel immersed in the experience.

Unfortunately, however, these great qualities can’t save TLOU part 2 from being a game full of waisted potential. I don’t think it deserves all of the mass hate that it has been getting, but I can certainly see why some players have reacted negatively to the game. I hope that TLOU story ends here or if they decide to make a 3rd instalment, that it be centred on entirely different characters or that it be set in the past where we can take control as Joel once again.

Generally speaking, the game is good. Maybe it doesn't end up in the way the players want. On the contrary, it's a story of revenge. If Allie wins in the end, she may be waiting for revenge from more people. The story will never end

By no means is it a "bad game" but it is surely very flawed. The gameplay is almost the same with the first game, with added features that are useful and fun to use. The graphics, of course, are never a let down and is argued to be one of the best on this console's generation. The first Last Of Us if my favorite video game of all time. The story itself and the choices made however are very questionable. The gameplay is heavily restricted by a corridor system that pushes you in one specific way, often preventing you to backtrack even the slightest bit. Often I would accidentally go through a point of no return before fully exploring / looting the area before. I would have to reload a previous save and replay that part in order to not miss out on loot / collectibles. This is very frustrating and feels very restricted / claustrophobic (in a bad way). In the second part the story goes on and on and feels pointless. The game wears you out with repetitive looting, non explorable corridors, constant tension, lack of music, bad pacing and horrible character choices. I thought of quitting the game a couple of times.
In the end the storytelling is very engaging and gripping nonetheless. This game has a weird mixture of things I love deeply as well as things I hate just as much.

I think most of the new characters are shallow at best and forgettable at worst, except for Lev who was the only new character I enjoyed learning about. If this story had been about other characters in the same world it would have been a good story but since it, about Ellie, Abby, and Joel I feel cheated out of the story that was portrayed in trailers and set up at the end of the first game. Some of the best parts of this game are the flashbacks where we see Ellie and Joel grappling with Joel's betrayal of Ellie's trust. In these scenes, the masterpiece of the first game shines and I just wish the whole game focused on that story instead of what we got. In summary, this is visually one of the best games ever created I just wish it had a narrative that was as enjoyable as the graphics. Expand

Considering that is a sequel, it is difficult for the gamer to empathize with Abby. The story could be better, do that we have been waiting 5 years for a great story. Losing Joel at the begging is something that the gamer can't deal with and that's why we expect more from Ellie during the whole story.
Graphics, BSO and the gameplay are great for PS4 pro and HR tv. I also expected more from the end, as having a face to face super deep conversation (Abby and Ellie) or to know more from Ellie's new life. I have been waiting 20 minutes for the final credits and we deserved a final scene.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game could've been so much more, it had so much potential and unfortunately just missed the mark.

The visuals of the game, graphics, world building, the tiny stupid little details that make all the difference are absolutely on point, the new variations and behaviours of the infected is intense, the stalkers in the school and the rat king were some of the most intense game play moments I've had in a long time, the seraphites had such an interesting and different aura surrounding then with all the whistles as they hunt you. All of this, was absolutely fantastic, and were worth waiting for. And the fact the game released perfectly polished seems to be a rare gem in this day and age.

Unfortunately though, the story itself leaves alot to be desired, the way the game was advertised was that we would get another game with us following our favourite father/daughter duo take on the world, and that wasn't the case, disappointing yes but not a deal breaker, losing Joel, I could've been alot more ok with that if it was done the right way, it just seems to have been done for shock value, and the whole game seemed to be, Ellie bad, Abby gooood, even down to the smallest things, Ellie kills dogs (ND said we wouldn't have to which was **** ), Abby plays with dogs, specifically the one Ellie kills you have no choice at all but to kill thanks to the quick time event. But I digress. Just to get this out of the way, I have no problem at all with the LGBTQ+ characters, I had no problem with Ellie finding herself in the first games dlc, so why would I be negative about it now, Abby being an absolute unit is not a bad thing, she's a soldier, so yeah she works out, alot so she can be fit and fight, and it also gives her an outlet, cool, it doesn't make me feel anything negative, Lev being trans is not a bad thing he was also an interesting character, bit the ones who base Thier opinions on this stuff bing negative are just dicks, end of.

I think realistically, I would've preferred not to play as Abby in the main game, as a dlc absolutely, I think that could've worked but have it from where the first game ends, where father dies and follow her through her transformation, with her journey to Washington etc.

Not sure what else to say really, I loved the game play, how it looked, ND are fantastic at that stuff, unfortunately the story was just poorly written, and expected even worse. I expected more, we deserved more.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. "See, there was a sequel. Wasn't as good." Like many of my peers, I was excited about the TLOU2. Then ND's crunch horror stories emerged. Then the leak happened. Then I rented the game. Then my desire to finish became quite the struggle. I have no idea why reviewers are giving such glowing reviews to TLOU2 when there are such glaring issues to behold.

Of course the graphics are 10 out of 10 quality. It's a given. ND did an amazing job. Even the most hardcore of PC only gamers have to admit TLOU2 looks amazing. Sound quality is amazing as well. The clickers, infected, voice acting, environments, gunfire, and animals sound incredible and clear. Again, ND excels at this. But that's where the greatness of TLOU2 ends.

Gameplay is painfully average with no fleshed out additions. You sneak, you scavenge, you shoot, you craft. That's it. Its gameplay feels more like TLOU1.5 rather than it having any meaningful improvements. They have a jump button now. So what? The way characters' jump is both humorously parody and unrealistic. I can upgrade and improve my weapons like I can in a dozen other games (eg: Rise of the Tomb Raider, The Division 2, Far Cry 4). Dodging is a welcome addition, but when your AI partners don't aid you (and further break immersion when enemies should blatantly see them while you're stealthing) it becomes a mixed bag of reliability. What fundamental changes have been done to help garner perfect review scores?

Oh, it has to be the story. The lazily written, poorly formed story. Does giving veteran characters utter stupidity and naivety that they didn't have before pass for perfection? What about that really early death that felt undeserved and had zero context? Or how about playing ten hours through a game with one character only to play another character whom a lot of us don't care about for an additional similar length of time? How about shoving down our throats how wonderful this new character is and that we should care about her? What about completely destroying a character people do care about to repeat a common trope in pop culture that "revenge is bad, m'kay"?

Yes, the story sucked. Tied together with coincidence and irrational character moments, TLOU2 seems to go out of its way to emulate The Walking Dead television series. When the first game had such strong writing and characters, the sequel is a shadow of TLOU. To add further insult to injury, the marketing from this game was manipulative. Changing character models, making it seem like Joel was with Ellie in Seattle, and claiming that Ellie is the only playable character in the game makes this experience worse.

To ND leadership I say shame on you. Not only for misleading gamers with your ads and comments, but for your despicable crunch practices. Your developers deserve better. They work too damn hard for that kind of treatment. Gamers deserve better. What we PlayStation owners have enjoyed from exclusives are single-player games set in amazing worlds filled with rich lore and fleshed out characters. That includes Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us.

TLOU2 is one of the most disappointing and underwhelming games I've played in this console generation. This is not the way to help bookend the PS4. Here's hoping that Ghost of Tsushima will prove to be a better game worth your time and money.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am so disappointed with this game, I had high expectations for this game but the game didn't meet it. I always like to start on a good note, so let's start with that. First, I honestly feel this is the best graphics the PS4 can produce, Uncharted 4 impressed me so much but this game takes the win. I didn't experience no glitches and no slowdown, I do want to bring up that was I was playing this on the PS4 pro. The gameplay mechanics are very familiar to anybody who's played the first game, very easy to pick up and play. The game is one of the few triple A games that has a lengthy campaign and no lootboxes waiting for you to help you progress, aside from the different game versions you can purchase in the beginning. Now the bad side. the story is so convoluted and has no fluidity. I don't understand how they can come up with a great story with the first Last of Us and come up with this story that makes no sense. Our favorite characters from the last game are put in the back burner, and we are forced to play a hallow character that has no depth. If you're going to kill a main character, at least make a good story that flows in to it rather than just killing a character for the shock factor. Another negative to the game is the monotony of scavenging and crafting, I did not look forward to scavenging to upgrade my weapons since I figured it out earlier that Abby gets all the good equipment and Ellie doesn't get crap, at least distribute the weapons evenly. Overall, if I knew what I know now, I would not buy this day one. Learn from my mistake and wait for this game to go on sale and keep your expectations low as far as the story and replayability. This game has seriously made me think twice about buying another Naughty Dog game since I feel like they don't know how to tell a story anymore. Makes me sad that well respected companies like Naughty Dog pander to the SJW culture at the cost of losing loyal customers. Expand

    Negatives

» Less diverse gameplay which makes the experience very repetitive and downright boring after the first 15 hours of the game.

    » Absolutely terrible character development:
    - characters seem to take completely irrational decisions all the time for the sake of creating a story and nothing else;
    - characters are deprived from any emotion at all in all circumstances, which is a stark contrast to the first game. Not only that but characters that were part of the original TLOU have seemingly lost their whole personality and values, replacing them with one single goal of getting the petty and useless revenge that fuels the storyline;

    » Equally bad story:
    - it is filled with plot holes;
    - it has an incomprehensible ending, given the plot of the game before it;
    - it attempts to make the player rethink about the events of the first game with a new and negative vision but in a way that is seemingly guilt tripping the player itself for even playing said game and downright trying to decrease our enjoyment of the same title, for no apparent reason. It also adds nothing in return, making the player wish they had never played this sequel.
    - While trying to do what is mentioned in the above point, it introduces new characters but the timing for that is way off. For instance, 15 hours into the game, Naughty Dog makes you play as the very antagonists of the first part of this title, while also trying to make you emphasise with them. This falls flat, as it is near impossible to show empathy for this character after several occurrences throughout the story. Moreover, this part of the game is 10 hours long, feels completely expendable to the main storyline and makes you wish you weren't playing at all;
    - At all times, the story unravels with seemingly no end point other than making the player itself miserable, while hinting the responsibility of all the cruelty of that chaotic game to the player himself.

    Positives

» On the bright side, it has the best visual effects you will find on PS4 - absolutely stunning.
» It is also filled with lots of tiny and somewhat fun details, that are a welcome addition to this otherwise completely cruel world, and reflect the attention that was given to this game.

However, all things considered, this game is disappointing. It captures the gameplay of the original but no element of that game's story is expanded upon, nor taken as inspiration.
It doesn't feel like an actual sequel, while simultaneously ruining the magnificent open ending of the first TLOU, the characters we had learnt to love and our overall enjoyment of that first title.

    Do not recommend.

The Last of Us Part 2 suffers with a lack of focus and introduces too many characters with little time with each to actually learn or care about. The first game showed that it took a full game to invest in two characters, and this one tries to develop character investment within the main story with at least nine characters and fails to establish that with the exception of maybe one character. Now of course, this is just my opinion and credit where credit is due, the performances, motion capture, animation and visually fidelity of this game are incredible and deserve praise. But for me the environmental and creature sound is the star of this game. The sound engineers deserve the highest praise for elevating the horror and making the locations of the game feel alive. As a conclusion I do think it is a game worth experiencing but I would recommend lowering expectations if you are a fan of the first game. I hope Naughty Dog don’t disregard all criticism for the game as mindless hate as I believe there is one criticism from many reviews that I have to agree with and that is; the game is too long. Quality over quantity is what Naughty Dog has always delivered, until now. Expand

Great game brought down by a toxic community. The graphics are great and the gameplay is absolutely amazing. It's pretty obvious that the people who hate on Abby barely found out that women can get buff, and they don't seem to like it. Gameplay tlou was Great nice over kill i enjoyed killing the Dogs pretty nice stuff, very fun killing infected
GOT was fun pretty nice creative ways to deal with enemy as well. although i did find it repetitive at times it gave me for honor vibes but still fun 10/10 for both Games

    Reasons why people like GOT
nice Game, good Graphics, Great story, The surroundings are engaging since its open world .
    Reasons people like tlou 2
Dark story it will help ellie character development in the future or a dark side was needed while i see the tributes of ellie and joel i start liking the story somewhat but my opinion of abby hasn't change i personally don't like her character but i do admit she is cool her finishers are bad ass but personally i don't feel any emotion towards abby dads death. i'm ok he died or her friends died.
she does have some of joel's move like in the first game but thats't about it only like able character for abby's side is lev

Reason people don't like tlou 2
The fact ellie lost her finger or The fact ellie let abby alive or the fact that joel act different for plot or for a stupid dum reason "I dont wanna kill dogs, oh she kill a pregnant lady".
or others just wanna jump on the tlou 2 meme or for the leaks i saw the leaks.
and also cuz the story was a little messy there were parts that should of been different and scenes that should of been different like when ellies story was getting good we jump into abby that kill the mood

My honest rate for tlou 7/10 story is good but would't say is a happy master piece its mostly a sad masterpiece still good ass game tho
My honest rate for GOT 8.5 / 10 good **** good stuff good samurai fking story

The first game had sadness, desolation and melancholy ... but also hope, there were gray scenarios but also colorful scenarios. This new game does not have that mixture, everything is gray and violent, perhaps with the exception of the flashbacks, but they do not fit perfectly.

Druckman made a risky decision and he failed. He made decisions without limits (for example Bruce Straley) and he did not tolerate any criticism that told him that his decisions were not in the right way (from the Nuaghty Dog workers themselves neither from the testers). Directors like Druckman are successful once, but not always (because no worker will tolerate those conditions).

When i was playing this game my fillings was like im playing well made remaster of the first part. So there is literally nothing new, i mean fundamentally new mechanics. The second minus about the plot. When i was playing the first part i was filling the synergy between myself and the character im playing for. In this part i cannot do this. Even trying to force myself. Maybe if Naughty Dog wouldn't concentrate on things which are not deserve it, so plot could be much better. Now i can say that there is the worst plot and charactets created over the past 5 - 6 years. I realized what they wanted or try to do, they just fail miserably. What bothers me is how the developers of this game wanted the players to feel engaged with a poorly in-depth perspective? Showing Abby's father saving a zebra is insufficient for what the story needed, even more in comparison to the story we know about Joel and Ellie, who were so well developed in the first one. Abby's father was a stupid NPC in the first one, who the **** is Jerry? where his background? His relationship with his daughter, their past, where did he come from? We know he's the surgeon of the first one and Abby's father and that's it lol. How can I relate to a story characters this way? Technically it's the best game I ever played and also the most beautiful, but that's it. They say that 70% of the team from the first game leave (including Bruce Straley) maybe this will help to understand even more why this game was disappointing. Unlike Neil Druckmann and Halley Gross, the actors did an extraordinary job, too bad that it doesn't save the mistakes. The game has received many awards, I fear that some of them "disguise" the mistakes that were made. The Last of Us part 2 is not as good as you think. Despite my criticism, I'm not a hater, I wish everyone the best of luck without exception to those who were part of this game. There is no reason for hate. After all it's just a game, even if is a very bad sequel, a wasted potential. Peace ✌️ Expand

Excellent gameplay and a beautiful looking game. I'm impressed with the risks Naughty Dog was willing to take. The story in my opinion is a little tedious and it's hard to emphasize with the characters. Overall I think it's a good game, but it doesn't live up to the expectations when you compare it with TLOU1.

What stops this from getting a 10 is the story, which by now you heard is very controversial. I'll give the creators props for taking chances and really hitting you in the gut with some genuinely shocking moments. However, the way the story was executed left a lot to be desired. I get what they were going for, but in the end, I was left unsatisfied and not really all that stoked for the next game. The major issue with the story isn't the themes, it's how they were done. The first game was a masterpiece in visual storytelling and character arches that really made you invest. In this game, all subtlety is replaced with beat-you-over-the-head preaching and excessive amounts of cheap storytelling tropes that frankly make you despise every character. By the end, I really didn't care who lived or died, I just wanted it to end. I can't even say if this game has any replay value because I beat it a week after finishing it and have no desire to relive it, a far cry from the epic journey I wanted to go on countless times in the first game. Hopefully, the third installment takes the "less is more" approach. Expand

That was a game that I could continuously play, trying to get every trophy possible. Not going to lie but the leaks and story spoilers gave me some reservation about the sequel. However, I was willing to give the Last of Us Part 2 it’s fair chance. After finishing the game, I am in the middle when it comes to how I feel about the game. I did not hate (loathe) the game but I did not love or enjoy it as much as I had been hoping for. Rather, I was indifferent to it.

I feel The Last of Us Part 2 had a lot to live up to given the really high bar the first game setup. My biggest critique of the story is that it was too convoluted for what it should have been. Naughty Dog tried to throw too much story at once, rather than tell a good solid story in one game to establish Abby's character and her motivation as she hunted Joel, more than likely setting up a showdown with Ellie in The Last of Us Part 3 for example. I also feel that Ellie’s falling out with Joel would have made for an even better DLC.

Whatever momentum was built by playing as Ellie or Abby gets reset as the game changes from character to character. After a while, the game just became about upgrading all weapons and abilities and exploring every nook and cranny for secrets and even easter eggs. So by the end of the game I wasn't attached to anyone and felt indifferent to the story and all of my actions as playing as each character. The fact that the last confrontation did not give me the choice on how to deal with Abby, lessened Ellie's story to me and added to my indifference to the game. The game could have easily ended on a much higher note with Ellie and Dina living on their farm post the first confrontation with Abby.

My sole rant about the game is that I hated being accompanied by other characters. I found them constantly getting them in my way. It didn’t matter if it was Dina, Jesse, or Lev. They all annoyed me beyond belief because they somehow kept moving in front of me and impeding my movement, especially in stealth mode...

The narrative structure is a mess, if the devs wanted me to empathise and understand Abby, they should have opened the game with the flashback of her father, and allowed the player some time to warm to her before having her do something horrible. In the original, Joel is thoroughly humanised in the opening sequence for a reason - first impressions stick. And there is a reason why his worst act (decimating the fireflies) is saved for the final sequence - by that point we can understand his actions, even if we can't agree with them. Introducing a character as a murderous psychopath and then redeeming them is a tall order, but not impossible (see: Jamie Lannister). But it needs to be done with finesse - hamfisted sequences with pet dogs and former lovers sprinkled between further atrocities did not work. The game asks players to consider the cycle of hate, how it can damage a person, and how there are two sides to any conflict. It is ironic that these themes obviously took precedence over plot and character in development, but fail to land because of the shambolic plot and characters.

Given a 7 for the beautiful visuals and improvements in mechanics, and for having some passable characters and story beats. I expect the lowish user score is due to its mediocrity being so disappointing considering the masterpiece that was the original. Surprised to see the high critic scores, I won't be trusting critics again.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I played this game with very low expectations due to the review bombing that suffered. I should've known better, the game is really good. Not 9 or 10 good, but good nevertheless.

The story and plot is compelling if you bother in having an open mind and try to understand. The game-play is way better than in the first one and also is the level design.

Why people in this comments keeps repeating the nonsense of Joel being out of character and entering Abby's gang hideout? He is no longer a survivor, he lived safe and comfy in Jackson for 4+ years already. Plus he is old. Just pay attention to the story and stop whining.

The story is great, makes you feel miserable, yes, but that is not manipulation. Plenty of other stories in other media and in games try to achieve the same. And that is great! You cannot just rate 0, 1 or 2 a game because it was not the cliche story with good vs evil. It is a very humane story, we are all good and evil.

Graphics, acting and music are top notch.

    My complains:

The secondary characters are my only real problem. They all are quite empty and shallow, with maybe the exception of Lev. (-1)

Game-play: well, this is nothing new, even improved from the first game, in the second it is still quite repetitive. It actually helped that Abby and Ellie had different weapons and styles to approach conflict. But still. They should have approached the game with more open-city like in the beginning, it would've been much better (-1)

Companies should stop f***ing up their employees. With happy employees you get higher quality products. With crunched employees your projects get delayed and they suffer in quality (-1)

Patch it for PS5 please! it was even slower and lower quality than in PS4-pro, i will definitely play it again and go for platinum when that happens. (this does not subtract)

    My review about salty reviewers:

    - they are not open minded, hence they don't understand the story. You don't decide the story, writers do.
    - I have the feeling that having the 2 main characters being strong women made many kb warriors salty.
    - false advertisement claims are nonsense. A game isn't finished until they go gold. Everything before is just work in progress subject to change.
    - developers owe us nothing as fans, period. You don't like it? don't buy it. I am pretty sure that at least 40% of the negative reviews are just kb-warriors trolling.

To put it into perspective what i mean by that, if TLOU 1 did not exist, this games story would be great not excellent but great, its a sequel and its not treated as such character development wise and even in a more "macro" point of view it just does not feel natural to me the way it progresses. Their message is clear, Payback is bad, because we say so and we are gonna try in every way possible to make you agree with us, witch makes it feel forced, and for many they failed at that as well. Basically it is a right vs wrong story written by some hot-headed teens that think they're always right. Other than that it was fun to play through but at times, especially at around the mid section i quit the game for some time, reason being you are made to do whatever you already did for 16 hours, for another 12ish? hours gameplaywise , from a prospective of the game that to this day even after all their tryhard to make me care with some stupid manipulation i still don't give a single f about..... and only to get back and rush this part hoping the ending would redeem it, but nope.... Is it wierd if you aske me yes its worth the playthrough would i buy it again ? no, does that make sense ?

EXTRA* Advertising this game like you'll be playing with Joel for a reasonable amount of time was a dick move and should be illegal, i would call it false advertisement.

It has amazing graphics and a beautiful soundtrack for fans of guitars. The most controversial part of the game is its story, in my opinion its nothing to special, it has extremely beautiful moments like when Joel and Ellie are in the museum, but It also has many faults. Killing of Joel early in the game was a mistake in my opinion, as I very much would have wanted to spend more time with him, as even the one time you do is the best part of the game. As a follow-up to the magnificent Last of Us 1 it forgets most of the character-building done in its predecessor and throws coherence out the window.

The primary issue with this game is that the story makes little sense in the setting of a continuation story when it forgets wat the foundation was. Had this been a spin-off instead i believe it would have fared much better in my personal opinion. Naysayers will likely mark this as blasphemy and state it is a perfect masterpiece. And I would agree if it had been a standalone game. However it is not and it therefore lacks proper coherence.

That said, the game as it stands is fun. Don't get me wrong, the game has massive story issues. However, it is a fun play regardless which so some degree overcomes the story issues. The technical side is in large parts gamer perfection. Just not the narrative side of it The forced brutality will at times seem superfluous and shows the sloppy job with the story rather well.

If you are able to get past the story issues the game is rather good. Most likely you will be getting quite a bit of fun out of the game. Just do not expect the story-telling marvel that the first game was as this one falls way short of that accomplishment.

How would you feel if one of your favorite characters of all time was killed two hours into the game with a golf club to the head and then his lifeless corpse spat on and told to go to hell??? Once I got over this the game was ok. I loved the cutscenes but they were a little out of order it seemed to me.
