    Wow. Just wow. So I tuned out all the spoilers because I was looking forward to this game for years and I am a huge fan of the first game. I was surprised to see user ratings so low, but oh how right they were. My main issue with the game? The story. What were they thinking with that garbage?! You also play a character in the game that was extremely unlikable. Who the hell wants to play aWow. Just wow. Who the hell wants to play a game with a bad character? Reminds me of the Raiden/Snake switch in MGS2. I wanted to play as Ellie the whole time! Other than that there were ton of plot holes, did Joel a disservice, poorly written characters and a horrid ending.
    Graphics were great though. As for the gameplay, it was okay. Honestly I expected more. It did not really evolve 7 years later, just some stuff added. Between the horrid story which is important in a game like this and the dated game play, an abysmal 3 out of 10 from me. The games media must have been paid off to rate this game 10/10.    … Expand

    Terrible story. Spits on previous characters to make way for new ones which you won't care about. My opinion on this is getting worse the more I think about how great the original was and what we got after 7 years.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. that disgusting game, very cheap story and full of filler, having so much good material they made a trash, they killed the protagonist in the first two hours and they force me to play more than 10 hours with his murderer, I was very disgusted to play with her, She even let them kill her intentionally to see how she died intentionally over and over again, what happens to those of ND, are they upset or what ?, What ND did is show that they are mentally ill, a garbage of game, No buy the game so that they learn to do things well, disgusting game, I sold mine immediately and I will forget that it ever existed, I will never play it again, 7 years it took to make this garbage.… Expand

This game is a huge disappointment the first story was about endure and survive the second one I admit the graphics were great the soundtrack was amazing, but terrible story writing Naught Dog did whatever they can to make us hate Joel and Ellie, what Joel was going around killing innocent people, the people feel sorry for Abby, gave Abby better weapons, choke out people, better boss fights, better shooting games, nice to animals, as for Ellie they made her kill pregnant woman, dogs, she was just out of character, I can't believe what ND did to the characters we love and to introduce a new playable character we are forced to play, they did whatever they could to make people like Abby and hate Joel, I have never be so angry over a game, I waited 7 years for this? I hated playing this game it is complete trash never playing it again. If you have played this game, you can clearly see they gave Abby better weapons, better boss fights, target shooting at gun range, target shooting with bow, plays catch with dogs so you can enjoy playing as her, for Ellie she is going around killing dogs, smoking weed. I just want to wake up from a bad dream I can't believe ND destroyed a game I love, I will always love the first game Neil did say. "The first game is about LOVE the second is about HATE" he got that right because I hate this game.… Expand

    Easily one of the worst games ever. Bad story, boring gameplay, not-so-good graphics. Developers just took everything that was good in the original The Last of Us and just threw it in the trash. In the end we have a terrible game. Easily 0/10, not recommended to anyone

They wanted to show us that revenge never does any good by making us sympathize with the antagonist of the game but that never happened with me. I never liked Abby throughout the game because she killed such a beloved character. And while I’m talking about Joel, he was one of the smartest people in the first game as he was cautious of whoever he was with but in this game he literally went into a random person’s base and told them his actual name and I know he would’ve never done that.… Expand

Not to mention most of these things happen enough in the original already. Where was their innovation? A jump button and pregnant women?

    I am not a robot. I bought the game. I finished the first half part and stopped before Abby's part. So I guess I have the right to rate, am I right? Take my suggestion: don't buy it.     The story is just **** up. Killing Joel like this.. he’s the main character of the first part lol and never supposed to die. Even if so, NOT LIKE THIS and not in the beginning of the story. Neil made all the characters SO STUPID omg. Waste of money

    Gameplay is not anything new or groundbreaking despite the focus on details. The story is very generic and not necessarily compelling to have you connect with the cast of characters like in Last of us part 1. The lack of choices for your actions is something lacking in modern gaming where you can combine a great story along with having your choices feel impactful.

Cuando un juego tiene un final agradable se vuelve rejugable, siempre deben tratar que exista un equilibrio en cuanto a lo que te dan y te quitan. 1) El papá de Abby, las luciérnagas y Marlene merecían morir? Sí, porque querían sacrificar a Ellie para desarrollar una vacuna (aunque Ellie quería hacerlo, la decisión la estaban tomando ellos). 2) Joel merecía morir? Sí, porque mató al papá de Abby y ella tenía derecho a cobrar venganza.
    3) Abby merecía morir? Sí, por matar a Joel que era como el papá de Ellie.
    Tres desilusiones:
    A) Ellie debía matar a Abby y su grupo, porque no solo lo mataron a Joel, sino que lo escupieron después de matarlo como si fuese una sucia rata, algo que Joel jamás hizo con nadie, ni siquiera con quienes quisieron hacer daño a Ellie.
    B) Para mí la peor desilusión de todas, Ellie no quedó en buenos términos con Joel. Algo hubiese reconfortado saber que lograron superar sus diferencias y que Joel hubiese muerto sabiendo que Ellie lo perdonó. Esa última escena, en el cierre del juego, si Ellie hubiese abrazado a Joel y le hubiese dicho que lo ama y perdona hubiese sido un mejor cierre para lo que significa Joel en the last of us.. Algo hubiese reconfortado. C) Tratar de hacer ver a Abby como la víctima no me gustó en lo absoluto, no disfruté el juego con ella,... No lo quiero volver a jugar estoy decepcionado y me siento estafado... Primera y última vez que apuesto por naugthy dog en compra anticipada.     The story is the absolute WORST I've seen in any video-game. Who the f tought it would be a good idea to make you play for 6 hours with Abby, it doesn't matter how much she has suffered, I want to end the game with revenge, not with her as a friend. This isn't the last of us, it's an ethics class for primary school with violence.

    The gameplay, graphics, environments, sound and music score are all amazing at in the 10 bracket. What lets this game down is a massively long and dull story which misses all the important beats from the first game and ruins the bond we had from playing the original.

    This game does nit follow any story fundamentals, Hayley Gross did a horrible depiction that i believe this game is a excuse to seem progressive when i truly believe that this damages the LGBTQ

    To put it simply no one buy this **** game, Buy some other game that prides itself on its story heck even indie games are 100 times better than that of this game

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I bought this game and played the 40+ hours of the Story. The Story honestly has no purpose. The game was very predictable. Indoor areas you fought infected and outside area Scars or the WLF.

    The game is fun until you play as Abbey. You really can’t enjoy playing with her, because you hate her the entire time for killing Joel. That goes for her friends as well. Honestly this game has no emotional connection to any of the characters. All the new characters have no character development. Their character development is getting revenge on Joel for saving Ellie. I just can’t see a point or a conclusion on why this game exists. The game literally total pointless story about revenge. I’m not sure if I’m stupid but what was the point they were trying to get across.    … Expand

The game play and graphics are very good, however half of the campaign is very irritating when you are forced to play as Abby (Joel’s killer) after a scene that builds up so much hate for her. The games storyline does not allow you to properly build a connection or relation to her that would make playing as her better. Another issue I have with this game is the lack of multiplayer. Factions was an amazing and special multiplayer experience in the first game and brought something that you really couldn’t find anywhere else. I really wanted to love this game. I played it twice and really tried my best to relate or understand Abby but I just couldn’t get past how much I hated playing as her. Sorry Naughty Dog I just really didn’t enjoy this game and had higher hopes.… Expand

Вместо того, чтобы поменять порядок частей, дать сначала отыграть за Эбби и проникнуться мотивацией, нас заставляют (а это игра, где нельзя скипануть геймплей) играть за персонажа, который считывается сразу. Все ее поступки предсказуемы. И ты играешь, надеясь на глубину, а ее нет. Просто тратишь время на однообразный геймплей, который работает только в связке с острым сюжетом и переживаниями. Как только они исчезают, геймплей начинает раздражать. В итоге, получается плохая работа, которую, конечно же, защищают тем, что мы просто чего-то не поняли или слишком неэмпатичны , чтобы прочувствовать. Но история, за всей мишурой глубины, очень и очень простая с обеих сторон: со стороны Элли и со стороны Эбби. Просто в первой половине есть эмоциональная привязка, во второй ее нет.

    Концовка, вообще, раздражает.

    В сухом остатке, сценаристы банально не справились с двухсторонней подачей элементарной истории, видимо, из-за того, что давным давно потеряли связь с реальностью. Жалко потраченного времени.    … Expand

I've been contractually obligated, under NDA, that with ND's guidance; I'm supposed to write something around the lines of "This game poopy dookie SJW **** SJW **** SJW **** Keep this **** out of our video games"; so that our journo friends have ample ammo to bang out a few hit pieces.

    But let me tell you something, this game falls on a blunder that is typical for amateur hour to pull, and that's when we get to the "this is where we're gonna kill Joel", you'd expect that the writers expect Abby to monologue to Joel about who she is and why she's about to murder him. But instead it plays on the audience/player expectation to connect the dots and reach that leap of logic. In the game's story, Abby could have taken out any random Joel to suit her revenge, but it just so happens she lucked out. That's risky writing since that can come off as lazy, rushed, and amateur.    … Expand

Regardless of the message the writers were trying to send to the viewer about "revenge" none of the games characters that existed in the first game ever felt true to the original. Joel and Tommy in the second game come off as idiots with an affinity for wanting to walk into lion dens with meat around their bodies. Which ends up being the biggest plot point in the entire game. The entire reason things pan out the way they do is based on a writing flaw. If you wanted to kill a character at least make it true to the character. In this case that wasn't done. This also doesn't take into account the pregnancy fetish that the writers seem to have. For almost the entire game you're escorting around a pregnant woman while you're both being "total badasses". While I am all for making women look strong in video games. This felt so forced that it leaves a bad taste in almost everyones mouth. We might as well talk about how poorly paced the game is. You are for about 12 hours of gameplay playing through a 2 day period through the perspective of two different characters. Both being insanely unlikable. While doing absolutely ridiculously unbelievable **** Like having a pregnant ally running around doing more work then an Army soldier in the trenches of an all out war or getting surrounded my enemies and someway shooting yourself through it all as a teenage girl with 12 rounds of ammo in a semi auto revolver. For this 12 hour time span you also have to play as the anatagonist for half of it. (HOW COOL. VERY VERY ORIGINAL DEVS.) With the anatagonist somehow being even more unlikeable then the now main protagonist Ellie. The time spent playing as Abby (The antagonist) is painful and will leave the player questioning if it's even worth making it to the ending of the game or if they should uninstall the game and play something else. Now I will say this idea isn't entirely bad if the gameplay wasn't insanely repetitive. Literally the entire game is. Go here, Kill People/Infected, Do the objective, Oh wait can't do this objective til I do this other objective there, Go there, Kill People/Infected, Do the objective, Go back, Kill People/Injected, Complete objective. This cycle occurs constantly through the game. The only nuance that exists between combat encounters is whenever you finally get a new weapon but even then it get's boring quick and it happens so unoften that it doesn't improve really anything. With all that being said. To the devs I must say. Playing as Abby was a horrible idea. Killing Joel was done so bad that it's unjustifiable. Pregnant women aren't Superman, Your characters aren't as likeable as you think they are. Your pacing choices made the game so grueling to play that the FBI could legitmately use your game as a torture method. The message about revenge you were trying to convey isn't new or cool or necessary. If you had nothing story wise. Just don't make another game. Your franchise is dead now. The devs look like complete jokes. Good job. Thanks for wasting everyones time and money.… Expand

While the graphics are amazing that means jack when the story is utter garbage. Gameplay felt the same as first so that didnt bother me but as a single player game the story is so cruical to its success and this story failed miserably. They turned joe into a complete idiot to get him killed. Then ellie goes on a revenge spree and doesnt even get the pay off at the end. Sorry in a post apocalyptic world you dont let a person just walk away out of mercy. Thats probably the dumbest crap ive played in a long time.

    Notice how i didnt bring up any LGBT or anything else like that? You know why? Because it didnt bother me but the fanboys apparently think since you didnt like the game you are some homophobic person which makes no excuse. I was such a big fan of the first game, played it countless times. Loved everything about it. As a huge fan of the first game, this game just hurts. Characters you fell in love with, they lose. They lose everything. And it gets worse and worse for them as you play through all the way to the very end. And the characters you dislike, the villains, they win. And i just don't understand how this could have gone in the direction it did. Its disgusting. When i got to the end, it just felt like i was staring at a big fat game over loss screen that i could not go back to and win. I just lost and now i have to deal with that.

    Its tragic because i actually loved a lot of things as i was initially playing the game. The gameplay, the graphics, the voice acting, the horror aspects, the musical score. So many things i was enjoying, but the story was so poorly written and executed that it was actually a distraction from these good features of the game.

    So lets talk about this story. Its hard not to talk about the first game during this because the story of the first game got so much right. It built up characters that the players fell in love with and cared for. Characters that we could relate to, with flaws that we could understand. We witnessed the journey and shared the emotions of the various characters we encountered throughout the game. It was so enjoyable and because of this we were excited to see how this story could continue.

    What we got instead was poorly written revenge story with shallow characters, that the players didn't know and never care for. We weren't built up to like any of the new characters. And the characters we came to love from the first suffer and they suffered as a result of not being the characters they were in the first. Players are forced to witness a tragic, gruesome death of one character as a result, and its a death that was hard to watch. Players wanted revenge just like Ellie. They wanted payback for this hurt. Instead we are forced to play as the killer for 8-10 hours? Forced to fight and try to kill Ellie and Ellie's friends? Then we let the killer get away and we leave Ellie with nothing.

    Why? How does this make sense as a good story to tell to your fanbase who loved your first game so much?I understand for some stories, especially in a world like the last of us, characters will die. That's fine. But what was the point in this? We suffer, and these characters we care for suffer, and nothing enjoyable came from that whole experience. Many people dont care for whatever message this game was trying to communicate. It sacrificed too much to try to deliver this message and instead players are angry and hurt and NaughtyDog is going to have to deal with that.

    I'm done talking about it. I'm going to redownload the first game now and experience what made the FIRST last of us great.

    Sadly with all the great game mechanics and beautiful graphics, it really gets overshadowed by the story line that feels messy. The first hour really felt disappointing the way Joel and Ellie was used, by you get to Abby, it just feels like you're just going through the motions. I don't have much of a reason to care for Abby. but whatever.

    While the AI is amazing, the graphics and sounds are nothing short of a technical achievement, and the game is very cinematic, this is completely ruined by: being forced to kill a dog when we were told we wouldn't have to, bad story, and bad writing, and incomprehensible reasons and situations that led up to the death of Joel AT THE START of the game.

This game does have great visuals and great gameplay, but the main focus needs to be the story. The story just isn’t good and it tries too hard to make you feel sorry for people that you immediately don’t want to feel sorry for.     I loved the first LOU game and can definitely say it is masterpiece. The characters were great, the story was great. Overall it was one of the best zombie survival games i have ever played. When i saw they were making a new one i was so hyped, but im disappointed with Naughty Dog. The LOU 2 is not a Masterpiece (Critics please stop sucking Neil Druckmans dick and saying this game can compete with the first one because it cant.) It has its good moment (the flashbacks) and some parts are fun. But it does so many things wrong. First of all Joel dies in the first mission (WTF) im not angry about him dying, its the way he dies (Joel the alpha male who travelled across half the US, slaying hordes of clickers and hunters and then fighting his way through hospital filled with heavily armoured Fireflies all the while protecting a young Ellie is taken down by a golf club.) So stupid. Then you are forced to play as his killer and experience why she wanted to kill him, no one gives a **** about her. Im pretty sure the first thing everyone did with Abby is kill her using a pipe bomb just to redeem the game a little more! Then the ending...so you (Ellie) kill everyone involved in Joels killing in brutal ways. But as soon as you get to the person who actually did the deed, your like "eh, i cbb to kill you so ill just let you go and get no revenge whatsoever" This discount Greta Thunburg gets away with killing one of the most beloved characters in the series. wtf is this.

They use a random character as the antagonist, someone who we never see or hear about from the first game, but suddenly has an in depth back story, and just appears then kills Joel after the first hour. It's all in an effort to make you feel bad for the antagonist and try to make you switch sides as you go through the game.
