    Overall: 3/10. I weigh the story the most highly as it's (at least to me) the core of the game. Such a waste of 7 years waiting.

    Visuals:Easily only of the most beautiful games I have seen in a long time. The way they put Seattle together made it feel real and intriguing. Many of the vistas were simply breathtaking. From a studio known for constantly pushing the limits on visuals they once again knock it out of the park.

    Gameplay: If you enjoyed the first game then this is basically most of the same. There are a few additions like going prone and breaking windows, but overall it's the same as the first. And to be honest, I wasn't a huge fan of the first game's gameplay either. But that's not what made the first game special. I will say that in the first game Naughty Dog seemed to realize that their core gameplay loop wasn't exciting enough to take a huge amount of the game, so there were a lot more environmental puzzles (lots of ladder moving, some people liked it others didn't) that helped cut up the shooting and stealthing into smaller chunks at a time. This game feels like there is a lot more time spent shooting and stealthing with very very few environmental puzzles thrown in, which I feel like is a big missed opportunity. Overall a decent gameplay loop but nothing special or innovative about it, but again that's not why I nor others loved the first game.

    Story: Because I guess there was a story. Why does this story suck? For a number of reasons. Firstly, the killing of Joel. It was such a disservice and they spit on his grave. Specifically the way it was done. There is a world where in this game Joel dies and it is heart wrenching and painful but it is part of the story and becomes one of the most poignant events in modern video gaming history. It could have been done right. But how Joel dies is antithetical to who he is. The supremely cautious man who once ran over somebody because he simply thought it might be an ambush waltzes in to an ambush nonchalantly and is killed for it. Who Joel is as a character is not the type of person to be caught in this type of situation. Full stop. When Joel was killed I was so angry I almost put the game down. Not because he died, but because of how Naughty Dog did him. In a word, dirty. Then I have to play as Abby. Here is where the pacing and sequencing of the game break down for me. If this is the story they wanted to tell I needed Abby to be "humanized" before I see her kill Joel. I put that in quotation marks because introducing this character at the start of the game as the murderer of one of my most beloved characters in all of gaming leaves absolutely no room for her to become humanized anymore. At this point the next 10 hours of the game become a slog I have to get through because I no longer care about Abby, and the story they write for her is not nearly moving enough nor her character likable enough to get over the hurdle they themselves placed. But I continue playing. Why? Obviously so I can get back in Ellie's shoes and murder this piece of garbage. And they disappoint again. You don't even get to kill her. This robs me of the only payoff getting me through the game. Again, it's a story-driven game and that's why I'm here. The core gameplay loop isn't enough to give me a fulfilling experience, I'm in it for the freaking story. I don't get any more of one of the best written relationships in gaming history (Joel and Ellie), and I don't even get that much Ellie, or at least it seemed like it after playing as Abby for so long. Ellie herself kills so many people during her quest, but in the end doesn't kill Abby. Why? I don't know. Flashbacks? It's not what Joel would have wanted? I find this reasoning hard to believe as Abby has done just about everything a person could do to be deserving of murder and after leaving a trail of bodies behind her Ellie just walks away. Ugh.

    Tone:At this point I've written too much, so I'll keep it brief. The first game was beautiful because of the vein of hope that ran through it. In a grim, brutal world there were constant rays of hope shining through. Characters you would meet that could smile and cause you to laugh. Most of those moments revolve around Ellie (I mean, who can forget the giraffe?). So even in a very dark world you saw hope for the future. This game has changed Ellie to a much darker version of herself. I can buy this, but now there is no overarching message of hope, nobody to deliver it. There are almost no bright spots, and they are few and far enough between to be utterly forgettable.

    Conclusion: Naughty Dog took just about everything I loved in the first game and all my hopes for the second game and smashed them to pieces within the first two hours of the game. Beautiful graphics can't make up for that. Ugh.    … Expand

    Ma acabé el tlou 1 5 veces.... y con esa base puede decirles que no le hicieron justicia a Joel... no se merecía esa muerte, se pasaron el character development por el arco del triunfo,además... te ponen a hacer cosas que no tienen importancia... que lastima, tantos años esperando la secuela.

    this is an absolute atrocity of a game. after the success of the first one i genuinely did not want them to go ahead with this sequel, as the first was tied up beautifully. this game did not need to exist, and it should not have been released. the gameplay is exactly the same as the first, but my god the writing is atrocious. spare yourself the misery and don't play this.

Neil Druckman clearly felt his own agenda was more important then the love for the original lore of millions of fans. He might have wondered how he could top what happened with Starwars. And he did. The story was ok for the first 12 hours, but kept getting worse after that. Naughty dog, skip Druckman, and find someone who loves games, the fans and writing a beautifull touching story. But if your goal is to get your fanbase as depressed as possible, you have succeeded.(not talking about myself) And for what its worth, i don't care about gender, sexual preferences or ideology. Focus on a good story. Naughty dog had every tool available to create the most epic game ever, and yet brought us a forced tale of weak morals. A tale of lost opportunity.     Mechanics and graphics were good, but story overall was bad and new characters were bad af too, except from Jesse and there was no necessity to kill the main character of the series

    Neil Druckmann destroyed a great story that had one of the GREATEST CHARACTERS of videogames, and then he excusses his ineptitude as a director and writer saying that everyone that does not like this game is being homophobic and bigots, 7 years of waiting to get this hot grabage

    In an attempt to subvert expectations the story of the last of us 2 ends up losing its ability to be enjoyable, and its ending results in one of the most pointlessly frustrating moment's to date. Its gameplay is mediocre at best, numerous other titles have both a better story and better gameplay.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First, Joel is not Joel, Ellie is not Ellie at All!!!! I will say The last of us never has the second one. I don’t admit this game’s storyline. The reason why I gave 0 score:
    1.The trailer has fake contents. It has Joel in the game for further cutscenes. But they charged Joel to Jessie ( The Asian man). It is lying and misleading the players.
    2. Joel and Ellie’s relationship totally changed. Joel was very cool and keep his feelings in heart not on the mouth. And Ellie was really like Joel, she used to be the one to follow Joel. Now Joel turns to be a kind daddy following Ellie, which is so not Joel.... 3. Joel is Waaaay smart than this! Save unknown stranger, and follow stranger to her place and telling them his real name after he killed so many ppl? Seriously?! I won’t even do that in the ending world. 4. The story is telling us not to revenge. But how can Abby killed Joel like a dog just after Joel saved his life??? Her father was holding his knife and preparing to fight with Joel, but Joel won! It is a fair fight. Why she got the anger to do revenge that that??? There are more things I disagree and feel super disappointed with the game. Especially knowing the background story about Neil Duchkmann ( Whatever he is) I feel he added too much of his own opinion to the story and totally changed Main Character‘s personality and IQ! He is trying to force ppl who play the game to learn his life lessons and won’t give us a chance to pick our own story. I literally cried after I saw Joel’s death and feeling super sad for few days. That’s why I am here to review this game here. I don’t really think Joel can’t die. He can, but not stupid like that! I hope you won’t waste your money on this game.     Unlikeable characters, almost filled to the brim with pandering, bad story telling, and smart characters being dumbasses for the sake of the plot alone. My biggest gripe about the game is this is Naughtydog. The same company that made the first game, and the entire Uncharted Series. Timeless classics. Proof that you KNOW they COULDVE and SHOULDVE done better here.

Jogabiliade ok, sofri alguns bugs durante o jogo mas nada que me deixasse com vontade de não jogar o jogo, entretanto achei a história do jogo horrível e o final pior ainda, vi uma narrativa forçada em cima de uma personagem que fez oq fez p no final deixar a abby viva, jogar com a abby não foi uma experiência boa p mim, por mim não deveria ter existido esse jogo, bastava o primeiro game que realmente foi bom… Expand

    this game is like watching avengers endgame, but just imagine this..
    thanos wiped-out 50% of all living creatures, and he murdered all the avengers in a very horrible way except for thor & thor was watching thanos when he killed all of his friends, so thor goes out for revenge kills everyone standing in his way & finally gets the chance to revenge, but changes his mind at the very last second for wtv reason..
    doesn't make any sense right?
    they are trying so hard to justify what abby did and show you that she is not a bad person, so they force you to play as her to see her point of view to all of this.
    imo.. making the vaccine should've been ellie's choice but since she was drugged, it was joel's choice, he is the one who traveled half of the country with her, who kept her alive & they bonded together, he was like a father to her.
    it wasn't marlene's choice, and sure as hell it wasn't "Jerry" choice either so both of them can go die or wtv.
    what he did was kinda justified because he was just protecting his "daughter" & when this doc tried to stop him, joel had no choice but to shoot him.
    so joel is on the right side here not this stupid doc or his daughter.
    other things that i didn't like is..
    almost none of these new characters had a backstory which is just stupid lol *except for abby ofc haha"
    i don't like how they won't lot you choose or do anything, you just keep playing until you reach this stupid ending, like if it was up to me to choose i'd have stayed at the farm & that's almost good ending to me..
    i also don't like how they edited the storyline idk that for sure but "Official Story Trailer" looked different from the final game so yeah..
    i also think that naughty dog is one of the best studios out there, but i don't think i'm going to trust them or buy any games from this studio anymore until they kick "neil druckmann" out & i'm pretty much done with pre-ordering games.

    this game takes about 25 hours to beat, half of them are wasted because of "locked doors" and trying to find a way in, fighting infected, & trying to find materials, it can be really boring.

    i just finished the game so i'm sorry for any grammar mistakes i'm still processing this stupid sad ending can't believe i've waited 4 years for this bs..    … Expand

The graphics and game play are excellent. But come on, the trailers are fake. They lead us to believe that our beloved people would be kept safe and instead were not. If anyone out there want's to buy this. Before you play it prepare to be disappointed so Naughty Dogs cant. We the player have to sit back and watch the man who could kill waves of highly trained military soldiers to some friendly low IQ man who acts like he is not in a room full of random people. *Warning* *Spoilers* *Ahead* We have to watch Joel die. Leading Ellie on this revenge mission against his killer, Abby. Through the story we are switched between Ellie and Abby. But they make us try to feel for Abby and make Ellie the bad guy in all of this. Leading to her killing everyone involved in Joel's murder but the person who killed him. Then the dev teams blame the users not liking the game on homophobia. The only person in this game that is LGBT+ is Ellie and we all love Ellie. But then we have these paid off IGN and Critics giving the game 8+ out of 10. It's just crazy. I waited 7 years, to see Joel get killed by a 9 Iron and then get forced to try to sympathize with his killer. Also having to watch a sex scene with Abby. Was just, awkward. Tbh bad game overall, save your money. Thank the saints who leaked this bogus game for us.… Expand

    Huge letdown. Spits all over the legacy of the original. It’s also dull due to the unlivable characters and drab story. Very pretentious. While it looks pretty and exploring is fun, the experience itself was a miserable one, and not in a good way.

It made you care about Joel and Ellie so much that if there was a sequel you would think that it would be a rollercoaster of emotions including both Joel and Ellie for the majority. That is where this game falls short. Joel’s death is not only done so dirty for all the fans to watch, but just done to advance the plot with this game. Joel’s decision should haunt him but the route this game goes with in doing so is not the one many fans wanted. This game makes Joel out to be a horrible person and makes Ellie’s final decision of mercy just seem like she is spitting on his grave and that he didn’t matter. Along with killing the main character in the first game this game introduces transgender girl named Abby who is introduced before shortly killing Joel. What this game does is makes Ellie do horrible things to get revenge but then paints Abby as the protagonist forcing the player to agree with her which is difficult considering what she did to Joel along with the game making her overall not even that likable when showing why she killed Joel. The fight where the player is Abby against Ellie is something nobody wants and is very forced. The point is the game should not have to force you to like a character and you should be able to do that on your own. Naughty Dog should have just given fans a game where you play half as Joel and half as Ellie with a good cause to want revenge with Joel dying in the end and Ellie living with Dina. Instead they give a forced plot with forced characters is Abby and Ellie in a few parts. The game goes a route no one wanted and doesn’t do a good job with the route it takes. It hurts fan watching characters whom are loved getting pushed to the side for a new character no one cares about. This sequel shouldn’t exist as the first game ended nicely and makes fans feel played themselves when they wait 6 years for something at least good.… Expand

    The gameplay is pretty good but at ties get repetitive. The story is horribly thought out. You play as the antagonist for half the game trying to get you to like her.

    I trust naughty dog so much,so I spent 60$ and pre-order this **** game. This must be the worst story I ever seen in my life. When I forced to play as someone I hate so much, i just stop playing and turn off my console. It really hurt my mental heath. I gave 1 point for the fascinating graphics.

    Forcibly using the death of the previous generation to sublimate the game is something that the weak will do. If you feel that such a storyline is used to perfunctory players, you have done it.
    Isn't playing games full of sensory stimulation? Why bring the set of your real hobbies into the game?
    If Ellie was killed, Joel will use his life force to destroy the opponent.

My issue was having to play this new character called Abby. I couldn't care less about her and approximately 50% of the game you play as her. She's hollow, uninteresting and unlikable and I just couldn't connect with her the same way I did with Joel and Ellie in part 1.

    I ended up reducing the difficult to very light. I had no desire to improve skills and gun specs. I stopped looting vaults and cupboards/drawers altogether. Despite all of this, her parts still felt like an eternity. It completely ruined the game for me.    … Expand

    Narratively speaking, this sequel should not exist at all as the ending of TLOU 1 was perfect.

The gameplay becomes repetitive and tiring very quickly, and when I think of it, it would probably have been the same with TLOU 1 if it wasn't for how invested we were in the story and the relationship between Ellie and Joel, on top of being accompanied with some excellent narrative elements.

    The best bits of TLOU2 are precisely the flashbacks featuring Joel and Ellie... if you decided to make a sequel, THAT was the game you should have made as that's what I would have been interested into.

    Instead, TLOU2 is a soulless return to the same universe of the first game but with characters and a story I just don't give a damn about and without being invested in the story it makes this game far less enjoyable, to the point where I found it repetitive and tiring...    … Expand

The way Joel is killed is really disappointing and downright disrespectful and being forced to play as Abby for hours was awful I didn't care for her story at all I hated playing as her and then not even being able to kill her at the end of the game was stupid and a real letdown.     With all this new technology and moderate gameplay improvements (but no one really played for the gunplay tbh) it had set the stage to completely outshine its legacy and create a true game of the year or even decade, all of its hard hitting emotional scenes fall flat or worse, induce a feeling of dis-satisfaction and disappointment, the relationship between the players and the characters was handled with utter contempt, with no saving grace between them, if we can even call them the same characters, many of them do not act consistently and often jump to irrational and illogical decisions that have been shown repeatedly to be against their entire backstory and demeanor.

    I don't know if the original writers were bought back for this game, but i heavily doubt it, TLOU was not a game that can stand up based on its gunplay alone, 80% of its core was a compelling story with relatable and consistent characters, its successor needed to be handled with the utmost care and tact, of which it failed to the point that im not sure if they were even trying, i feel bad for the coders and programmers that poured so much of their heart into it, because that does show, the writing team had failed the game, the company and their co-workers, its madness that no one tried to pull them up on it.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. We are December 3rd, 2016, during the Playstation Experience, we finally discover the first trailer of TLOU2. Do you remember the cheers of the crowd and the happiness that we all felt when Joel finally appear? Do you remember the scream of joy when we saw in another trailer Joel saying "You think I would let you do this on your own"? This is how TLOU2 has been advertised for us fans of the 1st game and in love with those two characters and this is how we thought the game would be and should have been.
    I will talk about the story because I think we all agree that graphism and the OST are incredible and the gameplay mostly good.
    We arrived in an apocalyptic world where some people are mad against Ellie for being lesbian and where Ellie is disrespecting Joel because she has her puberty maybe. This already puts the tone of the story. After 1 hour and half-interesting, we meet the second playable characters of the game, Abby. I didn't expect to play another character since the director of the game said explicitly that only Ellie would be playable. The biggest problem of this game is the incoherence in all character's actions and I will explain why it's inherent to justify my grade of 3.
    Joel is a survivor that is able to guess an ambush in the first game and that told Ellie to never gave her name or trust strangers (We see that she follow those rules during the Winter Part in the first TLOU). Nonetheless, in this game, he follows a stranger into a lodge and give his name to everyone there and follow them into a room without escaping possibilities. After the massacre that he did to the hospital with the fireflies, he must know for sure that some people might want him to die. Ellie is a lost character in that game. She smokes weed and has sex in the middle of a building crowded with infected and where she can die every second, which is stupid and incoherent with the situation. She followed Abby around all the countries and kills thousands of innocents and a dog (The studio said that you are not obligated to kills any dogs in the game but it's false, you are obligated to kill one which I didn't like since I have a german dog too). All those deaths to reach Abby and when she reaches her and can kill her she doesn't.
    Abby finally, is incoherent in her decision. Every intelligent person would have killed Ellie like Joel killed Marlene in the first game. It was sure that Ellie would follow Abby for revenge and after killing all her friends, she decides once again to not kill her. (Maybe because she is a girl because she killed every guy but not Dina & Ellie). The game tried to make us have compassion for Abby but it's impossible after what she did. It was torture to play as Abby for 10 hours after what she did and it would have been more suitable to put that part with Abby before she kills Joel.
    Dina looks more like a love interest and isn't an interesting character, Jesse is interesting, Tommy is useless and Lev is here just to promote transsexuality and inclusivity because the only thing they say about her is that she shaved her head and is a man. The game gravitates around revenge and tries to tell us that revenge is bad but doesn't succeed because Abby got what she wants by taking revenge so we as players want to have ours too. The final let us frustrated and we felt very down when we think of all the lives lost, all the sacrifices done and all the hours we played. We lose so many characters, some with very bad injuries such as Ellie and Tommy and we lose everything as Ellie finish alone. This game doesn't accomplish anything and the only happy ending is the one of Abby that has her happy ending thanks to revenge. The game tried to make us have compassion for Abby and make us realize that Joel is a bad guy but Joel only killed for surviving and by love while Abby killed by hate. The only "innocent" life that Joel took was one of the surgeons, the dad of Abby. I understand the volunteer of the studio to deal with feelings such as remorse, compassion, and self-identity but this is totally not coherent in a world such as The Last of Us. To survive you have to kill and don't have places here. Self Identity about being a guy doesn't have its place, you talk about an apocalyptic world, I don't think it's the primary issue on someone mind here.
    I think that this game has been ruined by the agenda that the studio had and all the contributors that give their touches to the game. The person playing Lev had racist tweets, Ellie in the flashbacks has a more masculine face because of some feminists activist and I truly think that the idea of the game was to get rid of the male character to put a woman that breaks the rules with a man body. I waited 7 years for the other game, I trusted Naughty Dog on it because it's my favorite studios and all my favorite games are from them but they let us down with this one. I truly think that this game was made for people that didn't even play the first one or knew 2 years ago    … Expand

    I was looking forward a story with positive meaning ... but this is a story of losers. You learn that revenge is not the answer but it never was! Abby is infact the character I hate the most. She ruined everything for revenge and she knows It because she kept loosing people due to it!

    I just feel very frustrated after playing it ... you do not want to see your heros defeated and also playing as the one ruins everything is something I don’t understand.

Killing of Joel right after he saves Abby's life (it's not even a quick death, its a slow torturous death) doesn't get justified by the 10 hours + or so of game time that you "have" to play as Abby. Those 10+ hours are pretty weak narratively as well. I don't get how someone who played the first last of game can potentially like this game. The backlash is completely justified and a lot of things seem forced. The DLC was nicely done and when it's revealed that Ellie is gay it was a really wholesome moment. However, the Dina/Ellie chemistry is just lacking and lot of times is completely forced. I would say steer clear of any Naughty Dog games, never pre-order, and save your money to support other game developers.… Expand

A fan of the first game and hence I will review this as a fan of the first game and what made it special and what it built.

    Graphics: 9/10.

    Graphically the game looks very good. The details to the environments, the light, the textures, the models, the fluid animations. The physics is incredible. All is top notch.

    Gameplay: 7/10.

    The gameplay at first is very good but after roughly half way through the game, it becomes quite repetitive. You have to always repeatedly press square fast in close encounters. To use melee you press square. Every quick time event is square. And these occur very often in the game. The puzzles also start to become very repetitive and monotonous. And a lot of your time is spent in cut scenes which is not gameplay.

    Story: 0/10.

    The biggest problem with the game is the story. This game is not isolated on its own, in the sense that it already established the personalities of the characters and also a fan base with the first game.

    Joel gets killed very early in the game by acting out of character in trusting complete strangers. Now, five years after the first game, you cannot tell anyone that within five years a person makes a complete 180 turn in terms of his personality. It just does not happen for adults. For teenagers, yes. But certainly not for adults who are living in a post-apocalyptic world which is unforgiving. The way Joel gets killed is very brutal and most importantly it does not do justice to his character. If you are going to kill off a beloved character, then make his death impactful, honorable, and memorable.

    The character Abby is not likeable and the unraveling of her motives do not redeem her. She comes in as a complete stranger, murders Joel in the most brutal way, and sets the revenge story on its path. The worst part is that we have to play as her for a substantial amount of the time. She murders just as much as Joel and Ellie have, yet she never actually has any mental breakdowns from her slaughtering. She seems plain and fake. Whereas Ellie kills a pregnant woman (in self defense I may add) and after she finds out that the woman is pregnant she pretty much suffers from what she has done. Ellie is much better written than Abby and there is no connection whatsoever with Abby.

    The story finished off by Ellie slaughtering her way through to get revenge for Joel's death, gets her fingers bit off by Abby and in the final fight against Abby, Ellie all of a sudden reaches the moral illumination that revenge and killing is bad and lets her walk away; Ellie comes home to just find that she is all alone and lost everything. The story is bad. Really bad.

    Score 4/10:

    Note also that this is a story-driven game. So the story has to be weighted more than gameplay and graphics. I weighted the story twice as much as gameplay and graphics since this is not an online fps where the story does not matter but the gameplay does.

    Hence, the final score is ( Graphics + Gameplay + Story + Story) / 4 = (9 + 7 + 0 + 0) / 4 = 16/4 = 4.

    Final score 2/10:

    Thus, the final score of the game that I would give is a 4. If there would have not been false marketing from Naughty Dog's side, that is. And this issue has to be addressed too in the final score. Naughty Dog has deliberately swapped models from the trailers which correspond to in-game scenes in order to manipulate fans. In trailers, we see some scenes with an older looking Joel. However, when we reach those particular scenes in-game, then we can see that those are flashbacks from the first game with the younger Joel from the first game. Such "grey zone" manipulation and giving a false sense that Joel will be much more in the game than he actually is should not be tolerated. It is immoral. Since the game does not exist independently of its developers, marketeers, and publisher, we have to include their reputable actions into the final score too. This immoral behavior cost the game 2 points. Hence, my final score is a 2/10.

    Final thoughts:

    I do not recommend this game to anyone who has played the first game and is a fan of Joel and Ellie. For those who have not played the first game, your experience might differ and perhaps you will enjoy the game as a standalone independent piece. But even then, this is most certainly not a 9.5-10/10 as these critics make it seem. Any rational person will give it a 4-7/10 (if you wish to ignore how the game was marketed; if not, then subtract 2 points).    … Expand

It's the same level of betrayal and disappointment I feel as a fan.

    The technical side of the game is where it shines. I love its visual, graphics, voice acting, music, motion capture, all top-notch work, even next-gen. It's the only reason it still scored a 4 for me. But its storytelling failed spectacularly. The first 10 to 15 hours of gameplay was fun, then it became so repetitive and predictable. All you need was the knife actually to beat the game. The gameplay became mind-numbingly dull, it became something I had to endure just to see the horrible story progress.

    Midway through the game, players are forced to play as Abby. A character I was led to despise for her brutal killing of Joel. I hated it. It's such a low-ball emotional manipulation effort I felt I was forced to accept. I hated every blow I delivered to Ellie. The worst part was the grand finale ending. The story just doesn't make any fxxking sense. It felt like emotional cheap shots with no real purpose.

    I rarely write reviews, but I feel like Naughty Dog needs to hear this. They've made a horrible game that I waited for 7 years but did not want to waste my time to finish. But I have watched enough walkthroughs that allow me to understand the direction of the story. This fact DOES NOT make my opinion less credible than someone else's because I know what I was looking for in a part 2 (which was the story) and Naughty Dog did not deliver on it. With that being said, here are my issues with this game:

    PROBLEMS: * Ellie and Joel do not have enough gameplay. Their relationship is what makes the first game great. But that is not built upon and ends prematurely in part 2. Flashback scenes feel like hurtful jabs after what transpires.
    *Supporting characters are dull and uninteresting. (Jesse, Dina, Owen, Manny, etc.)
    *Abby as a character fails to make me feel sorry for her. She feels no remorse when she takes lives and is motivated purely by her lust for blood. Ellie feels regret for her actions which is the human element that is missing in Abby.
    *Very disturbing sex scene. Extremely difficult on the eyes and has no purpose for storytelling.
    *Joel's death is dehumanizing to the character and makes no sense. Joel is very experienced with sketchy situations but somehow is oblivious to the danger of entering the company of complete strangers. Joel is tortured and killed in front of Ellie without a chance to mend their relationship after Ellie learns of what happened at the end of the first game.
    *After Abby kills Joel, bashes the head of a pregnant lady, kills the father of the baby, shoots Tommy in the eye we still play as her fighting Ellie. One of the only characters left that I am emotionally invested in. And we are still supposed to like this character?
    *After Ellie's revenge quest, killing all who was involved in Joel's death, the actual murderer is spared for seemingly no good reason. This robs the audience of a final conclusion.
    *Ellie is treated like the villian and loses everything. Loses her fingers so she can't play guitar like Joel taught her, loses her family in Dina and the baby, loses her bestfriend Jesse all for nothing in return.
    * All of these factors not only impact part 2 but the first game as well. I can no longer play the first game and look at these characters without thinking about where they will be in part 2. I can no longer save Ellie at the end without thinking, killing this one surgeon will ruin the franchise completely.

    CONCLUSION: All of these factors are the ingredients for a horrible storyline that is betraying to the fans and the characters. I'm sure that I haven't even stated all of my issues within the game still. I have also decided to leave out Naughty Dog scandals and real life mishaps even though they have destroyed any respect I have for the company. What angers fans like me the most is that the outrage was predicted and intentionally instigated by Naughty Dog and Niel Druckman. With that being said I will not buy the game and I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy either.    … Expand

    They initially said that ellie is the only playable character, player doesnt have to kill dogs and when the leaks came out in direct contradiction to these facts they tried to abuse the DMCA system to suppress it. This is disgusting behavior and needs to be called out and reprimanded sternly.
    On to the game.
    The games review will be divided in two parts. Story and gameplay. The gameplay is awesome but quickly becomes repetitive but what doesnt become repetitive is the at times breath taking vistas the game offers. This is by far a graphical masterpiece.
    The story is like **** donkey coming and **** all over the place. Abby kills joel, while showing no remorse. Ellie kills all her frens with a lot of remorse, in the end they fight but ellie now decides to let abby live? She loses joel her two fingers her partner and her kid meanwhile abby loses nothing.

No character development at all too many plot holes no likable characters except for Jessie. You are forced to play with Joel's killer for 10 hours smh that makes you wanna rush thru it because you find yourself not having fun anymore with her perception of the story and you just wanna get back to ellie perception of it. The whole second half feels forced upon you which throws off your whole experience with this game. the flashbacks are really boring at times as well. the ending makes you keep playing because you wanna kill abby sooooooo bad because she killed people you loved, so you keep at it until you reach the ending.     However what is the point to this if the most important things to a single player story driven game (story and character development/interactions) is one that NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY OR TAKE PART IN. This game will leave a bad taste in the mouth of any real fan of the first game.

    No spoilers not going to write a long review. I played the first game 5 or 6 times including the remastered version. I loved it. Waited 7 years to continue the experience. This game does not do that. It takes everything that made the last one great and changed it. I’m amazed at the lack of effort put in by the reviewers themselves looks to me they all gave it a 10/10 for the sole reason of liking tran ny co ck.     The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
