    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The original Last of Us has been one of my favorite games ever since it came out. I've played through it on every difficulty and multiple new game pluses. The same can not be said of Last of Us part 2. Gameplay wise there aren't many bugs and the game seems stable enough (only 1 crash just after the halfway point) but it fails to bring anything new to the table. The jumping mechanics and "improved stealth" barely work and the AI is just as bad as the original Last of Us on ps3. On the subject of the plot. It's nothing new. Tales of revenge gone bad have been around for as long as mankind has told stories. Violence breeds violence and dig two graves. We all know how that goes. Last of us 2 however has the brilliant idea that if they make us play as both sides of this fight we're going to get attached to both and want to see as many of them survive as posible. This might have worked but unfortunately the group Ellie is hunting down gets only a few minutes of screentime each and it all seems a bit forced. There's also the minor insignificant fact that we WATCHED THEM BLOW JOEL'S LEG OFF THEN BEAT HIS HEAD IN WITH A GOLF CLUB. If they hadn't made us watch that and instead held that back until the final confrontation and kept us guessing as to why Ellie is hunting them down that might have gone over better. As it is the entire second half just feels like an insult to the first game and the people who enjoyed it. Things come to a head and Abby lets a severely wounded Ellie and her companions leave with a warning to never let het see them again. A year later Tommy finds out where Abby is hiding and sends Ellie on one last ride.

    The final chapter in Santa Barbara was one big let down. I was half hopeing for it to be that big rage fueled massacre just like the hospital in the first game, a chance to use all those upgraded weapons youve spent the entire game working on without having to worry about ammo or of it's better to stealth past and leave this group alive but it wasn't. Instead you sneak through a compound of raiders that call themselves "rattlers". There are a few interesting bits where you can use chained up infected to kill some of the rattlers and spice up the fight with a rouge 3rd element but it ends up working against you more often than not. Finally it all comes down to a single fight, a weakened Ellie suffering from internal injuries and having lost far more blood than is healthy against a starved, dehydrated nearly dead Abby. In the end both sides just walk away Abby cut up and bleeding and Ellie having lost 2 fingers. Finally Ellie returns to find the new life she had build has been destroyed in her absence.

    I want to like this game, I really do. But as it stands now with broken AI and a poor story that we've all heard before I just can't bring myself to rate it anywhere above a 4.5/10 and even with that I feel like I'm being too kind.    … Expand

    Playing this game is like wanting a puppy for 7 years, getting one, learning to love it, then the person who gave it to you (Naughty Dog) tortures it to death, then tries to make you feel better by showing you videos of all the happy times you had with it.

    Lazy character development, lazy story line, the gameplay disnt change enough since the first game, literally added a dodge button. I feel like something is missing and also it is clear that they paid the critics to give it a 10/10 and thats why i give it a 2

    What an absolute disappointment! This game has how many release date delays? To make the game ‘perfection for the fans’..... and THIS is what’s handed to us (not for a small price either). 6+ years I have been waiting for this - and the hype train has been tootling for the last 2/3 years. This game is horrendous.

Si hubiera sido un juego totalmente apartado podía ser aceptable pero es una segunda parte que arruina la buena historia y atmósfera de su primera parte. Algo así como lo de Mulan 2 y El Jorobado de Notredame 2.

    Lo peor es que los desarrolladores no reconocen la macana que se mandaron y andan censurando todas las críticas negativas, incluyendo a páginas famosas pagándoles para que censuren las criticas negativas que allí se hacen. Y lamentable los youtubers de impresionante relevancia que se dejan comprar para hablar bien de este juego. Incluso a algunos se les nota ya que son anti-políticamente correctos y de golpe para este juego se vuelven diferentes.

    Increíble como cuando un juego es un muy mal producto, los desarrolladores hacen de todo para censurar en vez de reconocer lo mal que hicieron y pedir disculpas.

    I had to leave this review after witnessing THAT scene 2 hours into the game, absolutely atrocious indefensible writing and I'm not one for conspiracies but I'm pretty sure most of the positive critic reviews are paid off, must be.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let me start by saying that TLOU1 is my favourite game ever, rivaled only by Metal Gear Solid. But it's sequel, simply put, is an extremely unpleasant game in most aspects. From the story to the needless violence in most interactions. Here's why:

    First, they kill off Joel in the first hours of the game, one of the most beloved and iconic PS4 characters of all time. We don't even get any positive interactions between him and Ellie before this happens, as they are barely speaking, from what we hear. Then, the whole point of the rest of the game is this incessant search for revenge, which endangers every other interesting character in the game. Revenge itself it's a silly and overused motivation, in every realm, but here it feels specially empty. Even after discovering that Dina is pregnant, Ellie still won't leave Seattle and choses to risk it all due to some bloodlust that has nothing to do with her character from the first game. This was entirely off-putting. (Also, Joel would CERTAINLY be using codenames since everyone in that hospital from the first game called him by his real name. There is NO WAY that Joel would be this careless. It's just really hard to buy.)

    Despite not agreeing with Ellie, the game is ok until halfway through, which is when it really took a very sharp downturn to me and most people: you take control of Abby, Joel's killer, for pretty much the rest of the game. This shell of a character, who you are supposed to 'bond' with and care for her motivations and backstory, but in reality you hate and wish she'd just drop dead to the first Clicker she sees. You are FORCED to control her through FIFTEEN HOURS just as she has Ellie at gunpoint and kills Jesse with a headshot. FIFTEEN HOURS. Hence, a very unpleasant 15 hours since you're curious and NOT AT ALL interested in Abby and her dealings.

    This is when i started to rush things. Stopped exploring every single building, stopped being stealthy in combat, stopped reading notes - just stopped enjoying the game altogether. I did not care for any of it, i just wanted to play out the scene between Ellie and her. Nothing else. Therefore, it was impossible for me to care about Yara and her brother/sister. It felt like an attempt to prolongue the story with these bleak, non-interesting characters, of whom we've had plenty of in other games. It all felt very vague, especially the Abby-Owen endless interactions in the Aquarium.

    The ending: after being forcefully dragged through the entire campaing, having to do things you don't agree with and seeing, going on missions that don't make ANY sense (like the Ground Zero part to save Yara, another character you don't care for) and seeing A LOT of violence along the way, you finally get some peace at the farm. This is by far the best area of the game as far as character interactions go, as Ellie and Dina's relationship seems very real and you can almost believe that those are real people who, despite being scarred phisically and mentally, are attempting to have a normal, happy life. Which is why it makes you drop your controller and just say 'Get the **** outta here' when you realise Ellie is going to do the EXACT SAME THING all over again: chase the girl who killed Joel and who spared you TWO TIMES.

    At this point, i found myself simply not caring: not caring about Ellie after so many dumb decisions, not caring about Abby since she killed a fan favourite (and is just an extremely weak character all around) and not caring about revenge after everything that went down at Seattle. I was just completely uninterested in the closure, and definitely uninterested in the violence that would inevitably come with it. As it did.

    In that last hour of the game, Ellie loses everything. From the knife that her mom gave her (and was the only memento she had of her), to a couple of fingers (and the ability to play guitar like Joel taught her) and her family, since Dina left the farm with JJ. But i was weirdly unaffected by this, as the game had lost me entirely on this second vengeance run. None of it made any sense and it all felt way too forced. Hell, in that last fight i did not even care who won, as i came to despise both characters. THAT is how unpleasant this entire game was, despite looking amazing.

    Overall, Naughty Dog traded two deep, beloved characters for two shallow and uninteresting ones, in Abby and Lev. Both Joel and Ellie's characters came to an end, in different manners, but they did. Joel is dead and Ellie is no longer a character we love - quite the opposite. She's made so many dumb choices along the way that it became impossible to relate with her.

    And so it is. She wanders off into the woods, with the Fireflies symbol, implying she's gonna try to find them again and develop a vaccine, so her life has meaning again.

    Thee game looks amazing, has terrific gameplay and sound effects, but it goes out of it's way to make you feel TERRIBLE and, in the end, leaves you with nothing.    … Expand

    Сразу оговорюсь что механика игры мне субъективно понравилась, но только по тому что она ТАКАЯ ЖЕ как и в первой части, игра за Элли осталась из первой части, Эбби по сути это Джоел, ничего нового там нет.
    Так вот:
    1.Старт игры и тут же убивают одного из центральных персонажей, и с этого момента ты уже не веришь в происходящее. Чувство такое что тебя кинули: Эбби находит в огромном регионе именно Джоела, Элли направляется именно в сторону Джоела, куча моментов нечем не подкреплённых и абсолютно абсурдных. И в дальнейшем таких моментов будет море,чего стоила только оставленная карта в аквопарке.
    2. Игра за Эбби - ужасный рудимент который абсолютно не нужен, он скучен и ненужен. Это в пустую потраченные часов 10. Замысел разработчиков понятен, но он просто слит- я не хочу играть за антагониста, даже если нам пытаются впарить что у него был мотив.
    3. Финал - это просто УЖАС. Когда я дошёл до финала, и меня абсолютно не было жалости к Эбби - она и как персонаж вышла с гнильцой, в чём меня убедила сама игра и как же я был удивлён когда Элли её отпустила! И я опять же понимаю посыл разработчиков, но в данном случае он опять не работает.
    Я извиняюсь за возможную путаницу и разбитый ответ, игра оставляет после себя чувство разбитости, как будто меня обманули.
    В принципе если воспринимать игру не как полноценное продолжение, а фанфик фаната и убрать часть за Эбби, оценка бы была примерно 7/10.
    В сюжете есть и хорошие моменты - это воспоминания, КАК НЕ УДИВИТЕЛЬНО, с Джоелом. И как не странно но за отношениями Дины и Элли интересно наблюдать, люди которые оправдывают игру что оценку занижают шовинисты- это не так.
    В общем надеюсь что про эту игру просто забудут, но всем и так понятно разработчики рубят деньги и не остановят поток бреда.    … Expand

    This game is disgusting! Using politics as a selling point is a cheap and a disgusting way to advertise a game. Naughtydog should be ashamed of themselves for attacking their fans. The only good thing about the game is the graphics. This game is absolute trash! Would not recommend to anyone.

    I really did not expect such a poor story after all these years of waiting. While there were a few genuinely good moments, majority of game filled up with plot holes. It just took elements of what worked for the first game without understanding what made them compelling.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I made an account specifically for this review. I can't believe the absolute mess of story telling that this game was. We've waited almost 4 years for a follow up to a game that's close to many of our hearts. The story telling is more interested in pushing a political agenda than being anything like the original which was extremely disappointing. I will be referring to the main female antagonist's name as "A" pr else my review many not be published. I will also state that she was never present in any advertising which attributes to some of the hate we as fans feel towards her.

    Joel's death to "A" happens around 2 hours within the game. And for those thinking Joel had a heroes death, he did not. All the knowledge he had in the first game of being able to spot a trap before walking into it went completely out the window as he and Tommy strut right into "A's" base with her crew giving them their real names and the location of their camp. As a result Joel gets a shotgun blast to the knee and beaten to death by "A" with a golf club. One of the other protagonists then spits on Joel's corpse as Ellie screams in anger and Tommy lays unconscious on the floor. Naughty Dog in this scene spits in the face of any of us that were looking forward to this game. To add insult to injury, "A" is about as swoll as Kylo Ren in The Last Jedi which symbolizes the strong independent female antagonist eliminating the "evil straight white man".
    Oh yes, in the end, after slaughtering all of the enemies and having "A" on death's door, you just end up letting her go because killing is wrong. I wish I was making this up, but the game doesn't give you a choice.

    Just I mentioned The Last Jedi earlier, this game is what I would consider to be the video game equivalent of such. They even have a similar beginning to their titles, ironic.

    All in all, save your money. I bought my game day of release, then sold it two days later after being disgusted, heartbroken, and in sheer disbelief.

    We deserved better Naughty Dog. Joel deserved better Naughty Dog. The Last of Us 2 deserved better Naughty Dog.    … Expand

There are multiple ways to understand Abby’s story but this for sure isn’t the right way. Many people are attached to Joel and Ellie than this new character! But the graphics are noice tho.… Expand

Watching my boyfriend play and return the game within a day after waiting for years, I have never seen anyone so disappointed in my life by such an anticipated game. It is even safe-spaced to the highest degree possible in any game I have seen in this day and age. Why can you not shoot a painting because it is religious? Have you seen Saints Row? Imagine if every game in the near future took this approach, you'd be playing a simulation and not an actual game. This should've been a Netflix series, the writer is one of the most imcompetent people I have ever heard about and that's saying something coming from who they are.

Really bad story, i mean the first series has really deep story telling and detail, but this game just no near from the first one. Well i was lucky enough to play this game without payed it. I just played it for myself and boy I tell you it was disappointing. First off, people like me that hate the game don’t hate it because Joel died, it’s how he died, he died like a side character. It was a failure, I don’t mind seeing Joel die, as long as it’s done properly and that’s not it. It was stupid, like the first game didn’t happen, and I hate how they make you play as Abby afterwards like what????     Despite 4 points out of 10, I’m not sure if I still have any positive emotions after this game. It is unfortunate that the titanic work of artists, designers and other people responsible for the technical part and gameplay crashed into a strange vision of Neil Druckmann regarding the plot and lore.

    Не стоит так откровенно заигрывать с такими темами. Такими темпами ваша студия может опуститься до уровня подмены понятий EA, Ubisoft, Bethesda и прочих. Как вы видите, никто не ведётся на такие вещи. Люди , ради которых вы эту игру делали , такого поведения не одобрят , а те , кто одобрят - не купят игру. По итогу хочу сказать : Саркисян - зло в чистом виде.Не стоит так откровенно заигрывать с такими темами.     Game looks amazing, quality is fantastic (no bugs or glitches or something) but that´s are the only things the game has to offer for you if you enjoyed the last of us story.

    Story 3/10 - None lovable characters.
    Game-play - 5/10 Story killed the game-played for me.

The game itself is gorgeous, and gameplay has been slightly improved over the first game. All the idiots claiming haters hate their favorite game because of the gay representation don't seem to understand that their favorite game can still **** suck. The whole point of playing a video game is to have fun and experience emotion. When the ONLY emotions I feel are hate and sadness, you **** up. Critics claiming that you feel a rush of emotions every step of the way mean that every hour you play you get filled with more hate and rage. The game has decent storytelling until a character you met literally **** 10 minutes ago bashes in the head of your favorite character with a gold club. I feel Joel needed to die in this game and feel the consequences of what he did in the first game, but to make a useless ass npc who has one line of dialogue in the first game this super important guy who just so happens to have a daughter that joins the apocalypse version of the mafia is really lame and lazy writing. Naughty dog could have done so many different things with Joel's death, but they chose to kill him like a SIDE CHARACTER. He dies in the first goddamn HOUR. Don't even get me started about the pacing. Ellie goes on a basic ass revenge plot story where she kills all of Abby's friends, and I mean ALL of them. You then play as Abby for a whole ass 16 hours or so, a character you just met and only feel hatred towards, and it makes the player want to stop playing immediately. I had a good time sitting and **** around for a good half an hour just throwing Abby off a cliff. If I have more fun doing that than playing the actual game we have some serious problems. We then see all of these characters who we JUST killed get character development when playing as Abby. I don't give a **** either way as they are already dead and giving them character development now is pointless and a waste of time. The game constantly tries to make the player feel like an **** when what happens is forced and can't be controlled. Like, a dog will roll up on you and your forced to kill it, no matter what. The owner then comes back and starts sobbing at the sight of his dead dog and it makes you feel bad. FOR WHAT? I didn't want to kill the dog, but the game forced me to and then made ME feel like the **** It constantly nags at the player about what the story is forcing me to do, and I have no control over any outcome. The only feeling of satisfaction I had when playing is when Ellie put that **** Abby's head in the water, only to LET HER GOOOOO. WHAT. Abby tortured and bashed in the head of Ellie's FATHER FIGURE, and she lets her go. Lazy ass writing and a lame way to set up a third game. Ellie lost everything, INCLUDING HER ABILITY TO PLAY THE GUITAR. The only thing she has left of Joel is that guitar, and she can't play it anymore because Abby was hungry during their fight and bit off her fingers. Joel would have killed Abby in a heartbeat if the roles were reversed, so don't tell me JoEl WoUlDn'T wAnT hEr To dO tHaT, because HE WOULD. I also felt Joel was out of character in this game, as he literally walked into a room with one exit with like 7 armed strangers, then told them his name. Tommy also told ARMED STRANGERS where they LIVE. IN A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE. The only redeeming quality story-wise is the flashbacks with Ellie and Joel. Those parts made me feel true emotion. I get that some people enjoy the game, and that's fine, but you don't have to lie and say the story and characters were on par with god himself.

    It would be an understatement to say this is a disappointment. The first game is hands down the best narrative driven video game I have ever played. IMO the first one was so loved because of the writing, characters, decision making was all perfect coupled with great atmosphere and good gameplay.     Terrible story takes away from all enjoyment of the game. Gameplay is better than first but the story and characters are poor. No multiplayer either. Don't buy and I wouldn't recommend watching on youtube either. Only pick this up when/if multiplayer ever drops.

    Except for the graphics everything got worse. The story feels rushed and is filled with flashbacks which makes the story incoherent. The game also suffers from introducing forgettable characters. Overall a huge disappointment.
