    To be blunt, the biggest problem with this soap opera, I mean video game is it is comically boring. If this game was less then 20 hours, I don't think I would have as much of a problem with it, but this thing drags on way to long. Between the solid, yet insanely repetitive gameplay, petty dialogue, and massive sections of gameplay that should have been just cutscenes, by the time I wasTo be blunt, the biggest problem with this soap opera, I mean video game is it is comically boring. I'm not saying that every minute has to be balls to the wall action, explosions and **** flying everywhere, but when your game is 25+ hours, and the vast majority of it is inconsequential interpersonal BS, you really got to trim some fat. Most people seem to hate the story, and while I personally despise the dialogue, I don't really care that much. I enjoyed the first TLOUP, but wasn't in love with it like some people, so I guess I didn't care as much about the characters or story in this game, or because I was in a near catatonic state by the final act of the game, haven't really figured out which one yet. I will say, one of things I noticed with the story was that it felt out of order, like they had all the major story moments in a file somewhere and accidently scrambled them.     The best graphics on ps4 era, and gameplay and combat is great , the visuals and landscape and lightnings little details are also great, but a big BUT the story....     It's joke on the players. **** plot, as well as characters. And this is not to mention the crooked animations and the ability of the protagonist to deploy any opponent with his back to him, despite his size and the fact that he faces the player.

    Ridículo, em protesto aos fãs de the last of us 1, irei dar nota 0 (zero). Pelo fato de neil tirar sarro dos fãs. Part III esquece, só se focar em outros personagens.

    Gameplay muito boa, mas como esse jogo é focado no single player, nota 7.

It's the same thing we had 7 years ago, it's the same box puzzles, the same kill some npcs quietly and kill some zombies not so quietly. The only differences are new locations and skin.     Good picture on old 2016 hardware. Disgusting plot. Drama in the original Last of Us pinched my heart, I bought PS3 for it, bought PS4 to play again remastered original game years after. But "Part II" is a totally garbage and waist my time. Is that all you can do now Naughty Dog? Pfff.

The execution was as lazy as it can get. What changed after 7 years of waiting? Nothing. Gameplay is a copy and paste from the first one, the only thing thats changed are the graphics, which look amazing of course but thats about it. You play the whole game thinking you might be getting some revenge but no, the game just..ends. You do all that chasing & killing for no reason at all. It’s okay for Abby to get revenge but not for Ellie? The game just reeks of lazy writing & uses some manipulative ways to make you like Abbys character & justify what she does. The first game was one of the few games that I played for 6+ hours straight the first time I started it because everything made sense, the story felt real, the writing felt natural & not manipulative. You felt like you were part of that world & couldn’t wait to see whats next. TLOU2 on the other hand, I just wanted it to end so I can return the disc & buy something else instead. Dull, lazy, uninspiring & I wouldn’t recommend paying more than $20 for this useless cash grab. We all know that the only reason TLOU 2 sold millions is because of TLOU 1. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have an issue with anyone dying. I have an issue with HOW they died. If it was executed properly & with some thought, it would make sense but it doesn’t.     Pro: good looking graphics, the world and characters look just awsome, some really gross moments (even for me as a video gamer verteran), still some hints of a good story design....
    Contra: .... which could have been good if they did it like in TLOU1 where you WERE Joel i mean they just nailed it in this part you were so invested in the charakters Ellie&Joel especially that you just wanted to get them through the story and survive and even at the end (I wont spoil) which was debatable I was very excited and happy/adrenaline fuelled. But the Story in TLOU2 oh man... i dont even know where to start so Ellie is mad at Joel for the end of the first one which for me is kinda fkn **** he just saved her life period. (Spoiler) Killing Joel in the second half is not too bad of an idea if they did it correct but it was just so underwealmingly bad written, even more after that you had to play his killer to see her side of the story i mean like come on thats the least thing i want to do i just want revenge. Even more of a thing that bothers me is the end which denies you as a player the revenge Ellie just decides like "nope I m not gonna avenge the person that was like a father to me" but killing everybody else on this journey to revenge was ok ?     The first game, made you fall in love with the synergy of Joel & Ellie, made you feel like these 2 characters cannot be seperated and are bonded together together in a post apocalyptical world.
    This game completely butchers it.

    There is no Character Love in this game.
    Im not even exaggerating with this review, the game just makes everyone lose who took the first The Last of Us as a baseline.

    Here a quick Summary :
    The Graphics are really astonishing
    The gameplay overall is not bad, but very repetitive.
    The Puzzles are sadly very ... boring, especially considering how much you can do with the enviroment in videogames nowadays.
    Despite many people claiming that the game is badly reviewed because of the Lesbian action going on with Ellie, i dont think this is an issue and never has been an issue in the first place.
    Every other TLOU game has pretty damn good reviews despite us all already knowing that Ellie is not Heterosexual.
    Abby kills your favorite Character in the Story, Joel pretty early on in the game, and then tries to sympathize you with her for an insane 10+ hours.
    Noone with the last braincell would say "yes, this is a good idea, lets kill the favorite character, and lets make us play her for half the games duration".
    There are also so many plotholes in this game, that it just gets so stale and boring after some time, unbearable.
    The simple actions Ellie takes in this game make no sense whatsoever either.

    Overall, the Storywriting in this game and the *very badly* designed and repetitive gameplay made this game a 2/10 for me personally.
    As much as i want to like this game, it behaves like an abusive Relationship.

And it has nothing to do with what most vocal people say about the SJW themes or characters, is just that the "boldness" they were trying to bring was straight up bad. Gameplay and story aren't connected, you spend the entire game killing, and only in the "key moments" do Ellie or Abby feel "regret" or pain. The game does not give the player a "choice" to kill or spare (knock out) an enemy; like in Death Stranding, where you CAN kill enemies but it has a penalty, so you try to avoid it. In THLOU2 you just kill and nothing bad happens. And at a point Abby even kills her own comrades, they say her name when she holds them, meaning they know her and she has a relationship with them, but she doesn't feel bad about killing any of them? Only at that key moment she feels "bad". Both Ellie feels bad for killing a pregnant woman, and Abby draws the "same line", but then what about all the other women they've killed? Any of them could've been with child, and neither would have known, but both killed them without remorse. And I kinda can get behind the decision to kill Joel. But to do so liked that, was weak and rushed. Also Ellie was a character that didn't wanted to have to face loss again and again, and she treasured good things in that horrible world, and she can get mad at Joel for his confession, but still she wouldn't have done what she did, lose everything just to win, I don't buy that. There's no character development for the characters that we love, there "some" character development for the new ones but it is so lazy and bare boned. Some side characters die so suddenly, that as a player you don't care, showing that nothing would've changed if they weren't in the game. The sex scene had no point to being there, it had no consequence, or cause. It's a shame what they decided to do woth the story, and the characters we loved from THLOU. The game has good things, but they are dragged down due to that poor story and lousy writting.… Expand

    Good graphics and the gameplay mechanics work well, but hardly an improvement over the original. The story is terrible and seeing as I have no options to change it in any way the whole experience was an unpleasant one. Such a massive let down after all these years of waiting.

    My impressions (no spoilers because I honestly think that you should play it if you really want to judge it):

    Delivers and convinces in terms of atmosphere, world, violence, exploration and attention to detail. Feels old and outdated in terms of gameplay, gunplay, AI and crafting. Feels strechted out in terms of game length.     Completely screws every character from part 1 and introduces new characters everyone hates and cutscenes you just want to skip at some point. Everything left over from part 1 is destroyed/violated/abused in this part to push a new story "direction" that I honestly didn't like at all. It feels cheap, rushed, superficial and irrational. I hate everybody in this sequel, including (or especially) Ellie and how she reacts / what she decides to do. If you play this, prepare to be butthurt. A lot. The story is a complete catastrophe.

    Final verdict: Medicore at best, I enjoyed about half of it and the more I played, the more I wanted to quit and play something else. Also leaves a very bad aftertaste after the ending. 4/10    … Expand

    Also to note the clear difference between critics and users shows how utterly out of touch or bank rolled critics are; a terrible game.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part 1 had a great story and I was super excited to play Part 2. This excitement turns out to be almost for nothing. The story is not at all what I was expecting, and has so many flaws and problems that it almost ruins the game.

    Now for the good. The visuals are outstanding. There is so much detail in the game that it looks like next-gen graphics. Also, the gameplay is very smooth and is almost cinematic-like which really brings the player into the game. I would like to see some different animations (especially when executing zombies) but that is almost nitpicking. Overall the artists did a great job and pretty much carried the game.

    Now for the bad (Spoiler alert)

    Killing Joel that soon into the game makes zero sense. Now saying that sure Joel probably should die at some point however after saving Abby it would be hard I think for a rational person to beat someone's head in after they saved your life, and brought you back to your group. I feel like it would have made sense if they made maybe another game before this one which the story was exclusively about Abby up to the point in which Joel killed her father. That way we have a direct motive. I feel that them trying to justify Abbys actions by explaining why she did it was useless especially when we had an entire game dedicated to Joel and Ellie the two characters that the fans fell in love with. This major flaw kind of spurred the rest of the game to just seem erratic and depressing (kind of like GOT season 8) .

    The reason why I gave the game such a low rating is because if I am reading the book. The book itself the binding, the pages, the ink, the cover, the artwork could be perfect. However, if the story in that book is bad it does not matter how good those other things are I am going to stop reading it. That is the best way I can describe why I rated this game so low.

    I hope that they decide that this game is not canon to the actual story because I would love to see a part 3. However, if they decide to keep this story as canon I'd rather not. Even if they decided to go back in time when Jole and Ellie were still together I think that it's too late now to do that since in the future the story just falls apart and the game makes no sense.

    Naughty Dog had a license to print money with part 1 and just tore it up in part 2.

    Background, I am an avid lover of the first last of us, the story was amazing.

    However, there are a ton of significant issues related to this game

    Graphics: Graphically speaking this game is amazing it is one of the best produced games for the PS4 that I have ever seen. Grass flows realistically, areas look spacious, etc

    Sound Design: Again, no issue here, same as the first last of us, detailed and perfect. Sounds are realistic, everything from reactions from personnel and bullets wizzing overhead, death sounds, All incredibly detailed and realistic.

    Gameplay: The same as the last of us 1, only with the added prone position. Combat is improved, but nothing remarkable. Easily considered mediocre of all the things you can note.

    Story: The story is disjointed and hot garbage. At the midpoint in the story you have Ellie kill a pregnant woman which evidently affects her negatively despite killing hundreds of people before getting to that scene in graphic ways and using expletives. The game drags on, instead of ending at 15 ish hours or so. This could've been effectively two different games and the motivations dont seem convincing at all. You jump between flashbacks, and different characters

    Overall: People play the last of us for the story, everything else in the game (gameplay, sound design, and graphics) are intended to complement the story to make it more realistic. The story is an unconvincing, disjointed mess and is a poor representation of what the series could be. Skip it and buy something that remains true to characters and doesnt just write "surprises" into the game to generate views.    … Expand

But in the game, there is just an incredible glut of tolerance. I didn't like the game. For at least half of the game, your girlfriend Dina (also terribly annoying) shows lesbian tendencies every twenty minutes and she makes a pass at you. This is incredibly infuriating. About the plot, too, everything is very so-so. Except for Joel's death, nothing really cool or exciting happened. The plot is based on revenge. You go, go, go to the final, then just get revenge. New characters, too, no, just uninteresting and all. Compared to what the characters were in the first part, these are not interesting. From the pros, only the graphics, atmosphere and cool semi-open world. The game is crap, for me personally. The first part is much better. As a stub in the form of the second part, received the same ratings as the first-a riddle. Maybe if the first part didn't exist, this part would be cool. But, when there is a masterpiece of the first part, it is, a stub for fans and a chic game for tolerant gays, lesbians.… Expand

In all my life of gaming I haven't dealt with such a cliche story with nonsense sprinkled in as a poor attempt to “subvert expectations.” In my mind, the great reviews from all of these companies have been bought out or were formed from sympathy over the leaks that obviously annoyed the community. I played through the game since midnight launch and the story was nowhere near the impact of the first game. There were shoehorns, forced representation that didn't fit the game, a nonsense death of Joel that was reminiscent of if a storm trooper just hunted down and killed Luke Skywalker at the start if the Empire Strikes Back for the destruction of the death star. Political correctness is a cancer that ruined this game along with bad writing and poor lore decisions that feels like a slap in the face to every fan of the original game. It’s hilarious that Naughty Dog was phenomenal with the Uncharted series from beginning to end but let their biggest title slip this hard. The only redeeming quality is some of the gameplay is pretty fun but even then its pretty bland and uninspired. Im deleting the game and never playing it again and I hope many people will read this and decide to not put themselves through the effort this game takes.… Expand

If you enjoyed the first game because of the story, characters and relationships, this game is not for you. Due to some questionable story-line choices, the game feels like a slog to get through and tries to force its players into a middle school ethics class rather than engross us in an enthralling story. The graphics are some of the best this generation, but the game-play rarely features anything innovative and feels like more of the same as the first game. Overall, averaging everything out I would give this game a 5/10 and similar to Game of Thrones season 8 and Star Wars - Rise of Skywalker, this is one sequel that will sorely disappoint even its most loyal fans.

    Objectively its 6/10. Lovely graphics, visceral animations, haunting sound design. Gameplay is a bit outdated, but good enough. Story is the main problem... really poor writing. lt feels like a cheap fanfic. Joel's death is simply insane, playing as Abby was mentally exhausting i would've preferred to be able to skip that part (yep, lose 10 hours of the game willingly). Ending is simply nonsensical, you kill over 200 people and yet you do not finish the job? At least they could've given us a choice to kill or not kill that roided up monstrosity.
    This game never happened, Last of Us is a sequel-less title as far as i'm concerned.
