II think 8 is the perfect score for this game. It was good, but it didn't left impact on me. I mean, i got bonded with the creature but it was not a emotional rollercoaster as i thought it would be. But game is unique, which is good.

Look, if the ending wasn't as satisfying it would have gotten a 6. 7 max. Yeah the controls are frustrating. The puzzles are good. Not amazing.

The Last Guardian is the latest game from Fumito Ueda, of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus fame. It is definitely echoing ICO (I loved that game!) in its basic structure. The player controls a young boy and along with the giant beast named Trico they have to escape from a castle and a mysterious force that keeps them trapped. The story background is vague but its centre plot is really touching.

The game is based on environmental puzzles and a bit of platforming in some huge areas. Therefore you have to treat Trico as a giant moving platform/ladder that you can freely move around and scale. You will be amazed when you and Trico jump over big chasms, it's a new sense of gaming scale. You can also give some commands to Trico, but it is programmed to behave as a real animal instead of the always obedient horse in Shadow of the Colossus, and this can lead to some frustrations. There are times when Trico will act on his own, jump to some place only to come back at the same spot. Thankfully this isn't anything gamebreaking, but still it's an issue that appears from time to time.

The biggest problem for me is poor frame rate on standard PS4 and heavy controls, along with a laggy and cumbersome camera. I am not fanatic about fps numbers, I can forgive the constant 20-25 fps, but the controls are a bit floaty. Since the same issues were present on both ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, it must be a Fumito Ueda trademark. At least PS4 Pro owners can run the game at 1080p and locked 30fps, for a more enjoyable experience than the 4K mode.

The Last Guardian is a clear 10/10 score in terms of concept, art, architecture and the whole Trico animation, but the aforementioned issues bring it down to an 8/10 score. Still these are not able to seriously detract from one of the best and most moving experiences in videogames. The game suffered from its nearly 10-year-long development and numerous delays, but it has finally delivered Fumito Ueda's vision for his kind of games. Let's hope Ueda-san comes back with another adventure.

Of course, I am sure there are exceptions to this, but they feel too similar in terms of gameplay, movements and environmental puzzles.

Trico's movements and AI should be praised as it is a technical marvel. It feels alive, it is not your everyday AI companion. And the way Team Ico makes the relationship between the boy and Trico develop through gameplay feels genuine, organic and human. This alone gives a lot of life and humanity to the game.

The art of the game is what you can expect from a Team Ico game. Both the music and the environmental design is fantastic. Personally, I finished the game wanting more from this world, from its culture, its creatures, and I feel this universe has potential for an animated series. The world feels so well crafted that 10 hours of -good- gameplay don't do it justice. I simply wanted more.

There are a few things that prevent this game from a higher score in my opinion:

    - A few minor frame drops. It does not happen all the time, but they are likely to occur in outside areas.
    - Trico's instruction and command system. I feel this system has a learning curve and eventually you will learn which commands are most useful in certain circumstances. However, I feel the game fails to make this system more accessible for everyone.
    - Camera issues at some points.

Despite these problems, the game was an amazing experience for me, and I definitely recommend it. For those who don't enjoy puzzle / platforming games, I still think you should give it a try because of its story, character development and, of course, Trico.

The camera is often difficult to control, there are glitches and controlling Trico can be frustrating but the story is masterfully crafted. It gets progressively better the further you get. I can't think of any games in recent memory that gave me such an experience of wonder and made me want to learn more about its world.

While it is certainly a game with flaws, the Last Guardian is the definition of being more than the sum of it's parts. Just like Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, it is a game that is far more about it's mystery, imaginative concepts and emotional journey than it is about gameplay. There were times that I was frustrated by the controls, camera and gameplay restrictions but at the end of the journey those complaints seem minor compared to the unique tale that I had experienced.

It has been 11 years since the Shadow of the Colossus was released so in light of that expectations were rightfully very high. The Last Guardian, admittedly, should have been far better than Shadow of the Colossus and Ico considering how much time it took to make and how far technology has come. To be perfectly fair, it isn't better than those games but I would say it is just as good. I think the reason that it didn't get a better average score is simply because it came out too late. If it had come out three years after Shadow of the Colossus it would have been ranked as one of the best games of all time just like that game is. I was one of the people that was frustrated by the wait for this game and I still think it took way too long but playing it was like returning to a magical world that I was once kicked out of ten years ago. Once I got in a ways, I was just happy to be back.

How you feel about this game will likely depend a lot on what type of person you are. This isn't a game for everyone, it doesn't have something to satisfy every type of gamer like GTA or Zelda, it isn't a game with mass market appeal that tries to have it all. Yet for those who appreciate this type of game is a rare bit of magic that only comes around a few times in a decade.

The Scenary is AMAZING, you feel small on the giant map. It's a awesome, shocking, experience, but a little ruined by the framerate drops and a confusing camera. The game looks as good as it did in its E3 showings, so while the graphics aren't top of the line they never lied to you about it, which I appreciate a lot.
A complaint I'd levy is that there is extremely little real exploration, and what little there is is almost never rewarding. That, along side the almost auto-play of the game when riding your pet thing, makes the game feel too closed. Re-playing the game through those long bits sounds like a chore because... I mean what would I really miss?
Overall, got what I expected. The story and world were the selling points and it REALLY hit home on those points.

    Pros:
    - Wonderful art direction. This game is so full of stunning scenescapes that it's a shame there isn't an included photo mode
    - Excellent character development. The relationship between Trico and the boy is built believably and with solid pacing.
    - Perfect animations: whether it's the boy's clumsy running, Trico scratching behind his ear, or the far too realistic gait of the living armor, this game nails the animations, lending realness to every piece of this fantastic world
    - Cinematic set pieces; repeatedly felt like you were playing cut scenes at the best times
    - Trico; the beast itself is amazing to bond with. The number of times I laughed at some small action, excitedly perked up when he came to my rescue, or feared for his well being were innumerable. I truly cared for him.
    - Intriguing world
    - Good voice acting - this whole game could have gone south very quickly if the boy's voice was annoying. Thankfully it was spot on, as was the narration

    Cons:
    - Terrible camera. Had to spend far too much time fighting the stupid thing to see where I was trying to go.
    - Poor controls. Jumping, throwing and climbing all felt loose and too often unresponsive
    - Numerous low-res textures can break immersion at times

    Mixed:
    - The puzzles can be infuriatingly hard sometimes, but they almost all make sense. They just require thinking outside the box.
    - While commanding Trico is very rewarding when it works well, it can be endlessly frustrating when it doesn't.

Though flawed, The Last Guardian is a unique and emotional experience that should be undertaken. The game does an excellent job creating a real connection with the characters, and its a friendship no one should miss out on.

So the story is incredible, it might be my favorite game story of 2016, it's touching and has a few twist and turns to keep you interested. The visuals and sound are also incredible, it felt like playing an animated film most of the time.
The main characters the little boy and Trico are extremely likable and have great chemistry, people complained about Trico not responding to you when you ask him to do something...well that's kind of the point of the game, it starts of with Trico not obeying you but as the game continues, he starts to trust you and listens to you.
The puzzles were actually creative, they were well done and fun, and the gameplay was also pretty good, sometimes the little boy was stiff to control but I got quickly used to it so I considered it acceptable...

What wasn't acceptable was the freaking camera, that's what stopping this game getting a higher score because this camera was just awful, it kept getting stuck in objects and walls, it just made the entire experience less enjoyable and sometimes painful to play.

It's sad that this one little detail made this game less enjoyable to play, I'm sure it will get patched at some point, but for now it really pissed me off, the rest is amazing, it's charming likeable and touching, I would wait a price drop because it's pretty short but if you find this game for like 40 or 30 dollars, definitely pick it up, it is worth it but you should expect that your greatest enemy will be the camera.

When you are in about the middle of the game, you will see that the game is only based in "finding a way to go forward". There is no fight, no challenge. You only run from some stuff, pull some levers, tell Trico to jump and that's it.

Is The Last Guardian the legendary experience that we were all hoping it would be? No way, not even close. There are way too many things wrong with it that prevent it from shining at its brightest. I will say though that, unlike No Man’s Sky, I am wholly satisfied with the final product and feel that it was completely worth the wait.

The Last Guardian requires a particular mindset when going into the game. It is more puzzle than action, and the fantastical beast is better seen as an independent entity from yourself as the player.
Trico is not an extension of your ability, but something that will require compromise and patience, not unlike a real pet.

No he visto nada similar en otro juego.

Despite technical difficulties that are more frustrating than easy to ignore, The Last Guardian makes up for its plunder with heart. This is a puzzle game, but the puzzles are hardly difficult. You will face enemies such as animated suits of armor who will try to grab you and drag you into a door, and uncover a secret about Trico’s kind that explains your entire friendship. In conclusion, The Last Guardian is rather faulty in its programming, but the game stumbles none as it presents a heartwarming story between a boy and his gigantic friend.

Great game with bad controls and movement. Worth playing all the way through to the end though. The general atmosphere and bond you develop with your furry friend make you forgot about the controls

Stuck in almost 10 years of development hell, I never thought this game would be released. Excited to finally get my hands on it, I dove in this past week and ended up binging it all the way through.

The follow up to Shadow of Colossus and ICO has improved upon its predecessors in many ways in narration, graphics, and story. The interactions with Trico, your bird-dog friend, are incredibly believable and life-like. I've never felt such a strong attachment to a virtual animal before. They really nailed the animations and AI on Trico.

Unfortunately, it also suffers from the same glaring issue in all 3 titles: the controls. The control scheme is so incredibly awkward and frustrating at times that it can really hold the game back. If you can power through it and train your brain to it it's not so bad but it does take some patience.

Looking past the control issues, The Last Guardian is an incredibly unique game with a touching story filled with many jaw-dropping moments. It doesn't have the prettiest graphics or stable framerate but it makes up for it with life-like animations and an interesting story that starts off slow and goes out with a bang. One of the most unique games of this console generation.

    8/10

Final Verdict: Looking past the controls, it's a unique slow-burn experience that requires dedication but pays off in the end with an unbelievably life-like attachment to a pixelated animal companion.

The "trilogy" of Fumito and Team Ico ends with a title that seems to take references and mechanics of the two titles that precede it (Shadow of the Colossus and Ico, PS2), creating a good combination in the gameplay, in fact it feels something very fresh and fun, with a plot, which as always, leaves many doubts, theories and details that seem to be left to the interpretation of the player. In the end the experience, in conjunction with the audiovisual, is beautiful, however it doesn't feel as epic as Shadow of the Colossus.

It seems that Team Ico still can't develop a control and a functional camera; they are still two frustrating elements and although the game looks great, I feel that graphically is not up to the console and the year it came out, maybe because it's almost visually as it was developing for PS3.

After 7 years in what seems to be development hell, Team Ico finally introduces us to the majestic Trico and its heartfelt relationship with a young protagonist. While the long development cycle does show its age in certain parts up to a point of some frustration. The experience as a whole is one of the most unique ever.

The Last guardian is indeed suffering from some technical and control input issues, but its warm, beautiful adventure filled with countless touching moments is something we’ll never forget for the rest of our lives. The Last Guardian is not just a game, it’s an absolute work of art.

The Last Guardian doesn't just live up to its forebears' legacy, it goes further. Despite the callbacks to Fumito Ueda's previous works, it is a unique creation. Outside of indie experiments, we don't get to say that about modern videogames often enough.
