the story is a mess. control is okay. most of the time you are just climbing and jumping around and doing fx#$ all. try uncharted 1, 2, 4 and the standalone dlc, they are much much better in story telling.

    The bad
Slightly better gameplay, but as far as action games go, it just doesn't cut it.
The story was doing alright, until the end, the end feels rushed and poorly thought out. No interesting side characters. It says something when the first game in the trilogy, is the best This is also Lara's third big adventure, she shouldn't act like she is clueless and has no idea what to do.

Raiding tombs still isn't really a major part of the game.
Even on the hardest difficulty it was still to easy.
Sometimes it seems like Lara just knows what she needs to, even if she shouldn't know it, and other times she seems to forget crutial information

    The good
    Great atmosphere
    Had some really fun moments
Fewer human enemies was a nice touch
Graphics were good but not great

La verdad esperaba mucho más de este juego pero la verdad lo único q los salva es la sensación de perderce en la selva buscar tombs y superar sus puzzles ya q ese es el ADN de TOMB RAIDER. Espero les sirva mi opinión Saludos.

After how much i loved the first two games in this series, I was disappointed by this one. I found it to be, by far, the weakest plot in the series. The graphics are strong, but that's about the only big positive I have for this game. It is the epitome of a forgettable game.

A great return to "original" form for the potentially last installment of the series.

I finished all 3 of the rebooted Tomb Raider series. I can safely say this third installment of the game does not disappoint. Is it an amazing Tomb Raider game? No, far from it. I finished all 3 of the rebooted Tomb Raider series. I can safely say this third installment of the game does not disappoint. Is it an amazing Tomb Raider game? No, far from it. But it sure is great.

Gameplay? As much as you can expect from the previous 2 Tomb Raiders, the same great platforming, puzzle-solving and combat mechanics are brought in and fine tuned in this last installment. Platforming is still awesome due to the fact that they have indeed improved Lara's animations. She glides, swims, rappels with great ease and you feel great controlling her due to the fluid controls. Combat has been put to the backseat in this installment, and it's not a bad thing. The only issue I have is the stealth kills could be more violent and impactful. Tomb exploring has been put into more emphasis now. And you will be invested in alot of it due to its great design.

Graphics? Great, very impressive. The environments have been vastly improved. Foliage, dirt, mud, surfaces and lighting has been improved. I played on very high graphical settings and its just a visual bliss. SOTTR world and its tombs is a great time to spend time in.

Story? Mediocre to be honest. Crystal Dynamic opted for a "apocalypse is imminent and we must stop it" thrope and its not exactly the most compelling story arc to be invested in. I do enjoy the flashback segment and also more character development for Lara.

Overall, Crystal Dynamics played it safe, and well. Not taking to much risks but also not exactly innovating. Its no Uncharted 4. But for a Tomb Raider game, its great and a blast to play. A solid 7.8!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game had EVERYTHING to be awesome, but the lazy developers prevent the game from reaching that level.
If we compare Shadow of the Tomb Raider with the first Tomb Raider trilogy (2013), we will see that the way Lara screams, the way she jumps and the way she walks are identical. Not to mention that her personality is very poorly crafted. In gameplay, she's a tough woman who uses a rifle, pistol, and coolly kills, but in dialogue and cutscenes, the way she talks and acts comes to seem like she's a fragile little woman. She looks like a simple university student who took a tourist trip in latin america. It's as if in gameplay she was one person and in dialogues and cutscenes she was another. I sincerely hope they work better on Lara Croft's nature and personality in upcoming Tomb Raider's projects.
A really nasty thing about the franchise's games are the bosses. A man who wants to take over the world or misuse a powerful relic of the gods. The boring eternal sameness. But in Shadow of the Tomb Raider it went a long way. The boss became a demigod on earth and had to take 300 arrows to die. Then comes Lara Croft and uses the power of the gods too and... aff.
I feel an immense disgust to see a franchise that could even win GOTY's being led to such negligence. Lazy Square Enix!

All the crafting and pointless little side missions that take time away from progressing with the main story get on my nerves. I like how they're starting to bring Tomb Raider back to its origins by focusing more attention on puzzles and and exploration, but for me they're going about it in the wrong way.

The mechanics were okay but could be quite glitchy at times, there's definitely room for improvement there; also, the feel on the stick when moving Lara around felt a bit too light, like I was moving around a helium balloon. The combat was so-so. The story was pretty bland, could have been a lot more gripping. The graphics were pretty good, but for 2018 even they felt lacking in certain areas (the character models for example). The main highlights for me were the puzzles and some very beautifully designed environments, could tell how much time and effort must have gone into them.

Overall, I found Shadow of the Tomb Raider an average experience at best.

Unfortunately, these games have always had mediocre stories, and this one is no exception. Lara Croft is unbearably shallow. Somehow, the writers thought that making her get hurt a lot would add some depth to her character, which is honestly a stupid idea. And unlike Uncharted, you can't argue that the story being shallow is the point. The writers clearly tried here, and failed miserably. As she is now, Lara Croft is whiny, unsympathetic and overall just unlikable.

If you've enjoyed the Uncharted games or the previous Tome Raider games, you'll probably like this one. If not, avoid it like the plague.

    More of the same.
Beautiful but easy game, which abuses the imitation of the cinema as Naughty Dog did with its Drake.
In the most frenetic sequences, trial and error is abused, which is little fun and frustrating. The plot is bland and the main character, Lara, is so upright, heroic and noble that it is impossible to empathize with her: that Lara is a pedantic and super nice young woman

But this game does have moments when it shines. Particularly when it gives you a big open area with enemies and allows you to get stealthy. It can make you feel like a predator hunting its prey and it can be so satisfying pulling off a good stealth section. But the issue is the fact that scenarios like that are few and far between. Most of them come in the final quarter or so of the story. Besides that, exploration is fun and the puzzles in the tombs are very interesting to navigate. There were also some smaller moments in the main story that i found quite charming.

Generally, the game is just fine but i think i preferred Rise more.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider should leave us wanting more from the rebooted Lara Croft game, but with some clunky controls and a lazy combat system, what saves the game from being below average are beautiful visuals, fantastic puzzles and tomb layouts along with true adventuring. It’s as mixed up of a bag as one can get.
