This is a great game compared to most. This game has some of the most beautiful places you can see and the graphics are really good as well. Not only are you a samurai fighting to save the island from mongols your also the ghost and with that title come some repercussions. The gameplay is amazing and brutal but Jin is also smooth with his movements. All in all 10 out of 10

My expectations weren't as high as they have been for other games but I was very pleasantly surprised by how good Ghost of Tsushima is.

The combat is excellent. The variety of enemies you can fight with different combat styles added a lot to keep things fresh over the course of the 35-40 hours I had in the game. The stealth adds some different options to go about the combat as well

The combat is excellent. The variety of enemies you can fight with different combat styles added a lot to keep things fresh over the course of the 35-40 hours I had in the game. The stealth adds some different options to go about the combat as well and is only "forced" a handful of times.

The story isn't the best I've played but is very solid. A good job is done in getting you to understand the tough choices that Jin has to make over the course of the campaign and I think by the end most people would side with him. The voice acting is not up to the level of Naughty Dog but still good.

The side quests could have used a little variety in my opinion. There could have been some quests that you needed to find "X" flowers or gather "X" supplies/metals/etc. instead of the mostly combat focused quests. The only other thing that I would like to see improved is a way to dismantle charms. I had so many unused charms at the end of the game including some duplicates that they just wasted away in my inventory.

For a first stab at getting into the open world RPG game, Sucker Punch did an incredible job. i hope to see a sequel or another similar game from them in the future.

Ghost of Tsushima what you get when you mix Assassins Creed, Breath of the Wild, and even a the horse back riding from Shadow of the Colossus but set it all in the world of 1274 Japan. Right off the bat you're shown and play a very intense opening prologue that shows you and your allies being defeated by the invading Mongols and it's up to you to help save your island and your people before the Mongols decide to invade the Main Land.
Other than a pretty good story and moments that make you feel like a complete badass Samurai/Ninja, the visuals are out of this world. I spend more time recording and taking snapshots from this game than any other since I've owned the PS4 for about 7 years. The gameplay is decent and once you learn different tactics on how to take down your enemy, you'll want to try different stances, different maneuvers, and approaches to take down the Mongol enemy.
What Sucker Punch and their team devolved was a phenomenal open world that makes you feel like you're in 1217 Japan and the sheer beauty of the game takes your breath away and with all that being said, I can't stress enough that if you own a Playstation 4, you need to pick up this last great game before we enter the PS5 era.
Bravo Sucker Punch, and bravo Sony Entertainment Studios for ending this console's life with a BANG.

There is a ton of beautiful artistry and style that oozes out of this game and I love it.

The game's score beautifully compliments the gorgeous visuals as well. Also you should definitely try playing at least part of the game with the Kurosawa filter on, it's super cool.

Speaking of sound, the voice acting is all top notch, every actor here is giving a great performance. The game also has an excellent Japanese dub that is unfortunately a bit muddled by the fact that the lips don’t even remotely match up but despite the fact that I personally chose to play in English if you typically prefer Japanese the option is there and problems aside the acting is still great so I’d say it's still worth it.

The story focuses on Samurai Jin Sakai during the Mongol invasion of Tsushima led by Khotun Khan in 1274. This was an actual historical event but I mean they obviously took some...small liberties with it. Anyway the Samurai’s defenses are obliterated and the island falls to the Mongols who begin spreading all over Tsushima. Jin who is saved by a thief named Yuna is forced to shed his Samurai code and resort to methods he never would have even considered before to save his home and his Uncle Lord Shimura.

Overall this story was very engrossing. It's not the best story in any game I’ve ever played but it definitely is further proof that the bar for video game narrative has been raised this last generation. The emotional conflict within Jin is very compelling. The way he is torn between tradition and what's necessary is captivating. I also actually enjoyed playing through the optional storylines of Jin’s various friends, especially Yuna and Masako.

Okay now let's get down to it. So the game looks and sounds amazing and it has a really engrossing story but that would all just be pointless if the game wasn’t fun to play. So is it?...In short yes.

First off, Ghost of Tsushima is an open world, obviously, the map isn't massive but it's pretty dense and full of activities ranging from Story and Side missions, Collectibles, Challenges, and Mongol fortifications to capture.

I love the Guiding Wind, instead of using waypoints or markers to lead you to objectives the wind will actually blow in the direction you need to go and you can even make the wind blow harder by swiping up on the touchpad, yeah this game actually makes decent use of the touchpad.

The game does have fast travel but honestly I rarely used it over the course of the actual game because I really enjoy just exploring the map with the only downfall being the kind of annoying fall damage.

There are two methods of engagement, stealth or head on sword clashes. The stealth in this game, especially early on, is admittedly very basic. You do get upgrades later on that will help make the stealth more enjoyable but it never becomes super deep stealth but it does the job fine.

As for head on combat it is definitely one of the better sword fighting games I’ve played. Your goal is to get parries on enemies to break their guards which is especially necessary against boss fights where mashing the attack button will likely get you killed. It is more in depth than your average hack-n-slasher but not nearly as much as say Sekiro.

You can unlock upgrades to make your life easier by increasing your legend. Mongol fortifications, side quests, and story quests all grow your legend.

You will also get a bunch of different armor variants to work with as the game goes on but the only ones I found to be worth it are the Sakai armor, Ghost Armor and travellers attire.

There are a variety of collectibles. There are bamboo strikes which increase your resolve. Resolve is used to pull off certain abilities and to heal yourself so it's worth having. There are Inari shrines which you will be led to by foxes you bump into while exploring which give new charm slots and powerful charms, charms being pieces of gear that have various effects like increased damage.

There are also Shinto Shrines that involve a lot of crawling and swinging with your grappling hook which you get fairly early on in the game, to complete and reward you with a particularly powerful charm and plenty more.

When all is said and done if the PlayStation 4 had to go out on something You can’t ask for much better than this. This game is truly the swan song of the platform. The visuals are stunning, the score and voice over are top notch, the story is captivating and the gameplay is positively addicting.
I highly recommend this game to any and all PS4 and eventual PS5 owners out there.

My only explanation for the user score being 9.2 is that the majority of gamers love Japan because anime is from Japan, which makes them weebs (because let's be honest, every anime is weeb, except Castlevania that's not Japanese), which makes them unable to objectively see anything involving Japan which makes everything 10 out of 10 IGN.

If those individuals were able to see things clearly, they would have no problem noticing all those major flaws which make the game look more like an indie title than what it actually is.

    A few examples:
    - One door opening animation that's repeated every single time you or any other NPC tries to enter any building with shoji entrance. (Now imagine following 2 NPCs into a building and seeing that 3 times in a row in 5 seconds)
    - Pathfinding that makes NPCs run in straight lines till they hit the edge of their path, so they could unrealistically turn 30 degrees and continue in another straight line.
    - Dull stealth gameplay which in combination with maybe even worse enemy AI that doesn't know how to behave after you break their line of sight results in one of the least enjoyable experiences I've ever had in any game that offered stealth.
    - repetitive side activities that make you constantly follow foxes, birds that get stuck in every single tree or rock (just like any other animal you encounter) that appears in their way, or the most annoying old fart ever created as a game character that howls the word THOMOEEEE every 2 sentences.
    - Interactivity with the open world that includes only following NPCs, clicking on prompts to investigate, sitting down to click on predefined sentences, taking your clothes off to bathe, and climbing up 1997 platformer-looking stumps on a rock.
    - No interesting or genuine characters except some of them during the duels that just look cool for a few seconds before you kill them, and after defeating 3 of them you quickly notice that there's not much variability in their moveset, so it becomes another routine activity.
Other than that, next to the THOMOEEEE shouting passive-aggressive moralizing grandpa is a bloodthirsty lesbian running around in samurai armor (at least her storyline is not that bad), and another old fart preaching honor, disciprin, and toradishon also every 2 sentences for a change, not even speaking of the protagonist himself, whose personality is at best 1% of commander Shepard.

I may have forgotten about a half of things that had some negative impact on my experience from the game, nonetheless, it's a boring stereotypical adventure that only looks nice and has some impressive combat mechanics (in case you play how the developers want you to, which I suggest, otherwise you'll break the game) that would've been pretty cool if a game called Sekiro hasn't already been released. However, not to only insult everything this game stands for, it's pretty funny at the beginning that it won't let you enter stealth, because you're a samurai, therefore you need to introduce yourself and your whole famiry to everyone you decide to attack.
Also, to my disbelief, the game has one game-changer, and it's the wind mechanic that completely eradicates the necessity for any kind of HUD elements, which is something other games should learn from... But again, in those games at least you can find an epic quest in the corner of the map instead of a retarded banner to upgrade your saddle that nobody ever in the history of gaming cared about.

Unfortunately, regarding new gameplay mechanics introduced after the intro, there is only a grappling hook. But it's not just any grappling hook - It's the least satisfying grappling hook out of hundreds of games that started implementing grappling hooks in their games 5 years ago, when it was cool. Not counting upgraded combat moves, it's all you encounter throughout its 30-hour campaign filled with repetitive missions to ultimately chase down and kill an Asian version of Steven Seagal in a way that the shogun doesn't like, so he bans you from writing haiku and drinking sake for the rest of your life, because that's what samurai did when nothing was happening.

Considering the number of Japanese names in the final credits, which is close to 0, despite it just being not a good game, it's not even close to being authentic, and I'd gladly change it for a million Naughty Dog LGBTQ dramas in an instant.

Take a bow SP, take a bow. I can appreciate a game like this may get tiresome and repetitive for some but I found the length just right. Beautiful landscapes, lots to explore, various ways to play and more than enough customizable options. The ability to play in full Kurosawa mode alone is worth a replay but I'm going to save that for the PS5 version.

Ghost of Tsushima is a flawed, but fun, game. While the gameplay itself was solid, and the story was decent, I definitely expected a lot more from Sony’s final PlayStation 4 exclusive. It had enough to keep me hooked, but lacked the polish we’ve all grown to love from a Sony first party game.

Ultimately, it feels like the game could have benefited from a smaller scope or a more linear structure. Focus on the duels could have created a more engrossing product, especially if it honed in on the narrative for a more concise and cinematic experience. But as it stands, Ghost of Tsushima is another AAA open world title and doesn’t seek to define itself as anything other than that.
