Story : Simple, to the point, easy to understand, very good endings, all the character is very likeable, but sadly it's kinda short.

Gameplay : I really like that they give different stances for countering specific enemy, the throwables is very easy to use, and what a fantastic design of armor they had in this game.

    Cinematic : Absolutely fantastic.

This game is good, graphics are a bit old, but fighting system is fun, you really enjoy to kill these enemies, even with a bow, but there is one thing that this game is good only for single playthrough, when you start it from the beginning for second time it feels boring already.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

The graphics are fantastic and the world just looks amazing, especially with the ps5 update, however, even when I played this on ps4 it looks absolutely fantastic. You can clearly see the attention to detail, care and compassion which has gone into making this game.

That includes the amazing music track which really just suits the game 100%. My only slight grip would be some of the story elements and how things unfold, however, that's a personal preference and overall the story is strong and delivers what it sets out to achieve.

All in all, I can highly recommend this game it is something any game player should look to experience for themselves.

(I have been Travelling around Japan as of writing and I can see they have done their homework and where they have got their inspiration from. They have done Japan proud with this game based on their culture!)

I think this is because unlike other open world RPG's like Horizon, Skyrim, and even God of War, in Ghosts of Tsushima you fight the entire game with the same weapon. And the only "stats" you can progress are really just health, melee damage, and amount of damage taken by an enemy. And this is mostly based on which armor you're wearing. I didn't find much use for most of the different armor sets you unlock, since again--there isn't a lot of variety of stats for them to affect. And the gameplay is pretty basic, so it doesn't impact the gameplay all that much either. I upgraded the default armor all the way and used that a majority of the time.

The game has a few extra things to help you in battle, like wind chimes, firecrackers, bombs, etc. But you can only carry about 3 of each, so it's not really game changing to have them. I honestly didn't even use them much aside from the final boss fight because I was desperate to fight off the waves of enemies. I was making due just fine with the basic stealth kills since the enemies were spaced out a lot most of the time.

The missions are extremely monotonous. I never felt like I was doing a whole lot, despite the long cut scenes that you can't skip, of characters telling you how important these missions are to them. And the game itself wasn't very long. You can do the main story missions and finish it pretty quick.

Then finally, the main story is pretty basic and kinda stupid. Your uncle is mad that you're saving everybody just because it isn't the samurai way. It's annoying to hear him complain so much about it while you're out here saving lives.

A fairly underwhelming game. I hope the sequel has more of a variety of things so that it feels like you're actually progressing. Made me wanna play something better once it was over, TBH.

The elements of this game are not groundbreaking but are presented in such a distilled and detailed package, you just can't let go of it. I'm not too fond of open-world games, they're a chore. A friend gave it to me to try it out. I've seen trailers, but, then again, it wasn't my intention to buy it. I've never been more glad I was wrong.

The game respects the player. It's not trying to fill the map with time-wasting activities but with genuinely interesting events and small-scale findings that fully represent what the developers wanted to do. That is, to give you a single-player, story and character-driven game, with grounded and believable motivations, in a rich, beautiful map. I wanted to see most of the content because it's presented in a very organic way. This game went above and beyond your ordinary open-world bore-fest.

Well unfortunately, the Open World is just a very beautiful wallpaper, there's no risk or depth here, it's the same old formula that gets tedious after a while.

To be frank, there's a big variety of tools when it comes to combat, and the feeling of the Katana is excellent, smooth animations and many abilities to unlock, it's a very enjoyable experience despite the repetitive and shallow quest design, which is by far the biggest problem of the game.

As for the story, it's pretty simple, predictable and very forgettable, the pacing is all over the place and most characters are uninteresting, but there are some pretty great emotional scenes that are very well done.

In the end I was left a little bit disappointed, because honestly, I couldn't get attached to this game, but I really had fun playing it, that being said, it's a solid experience overall.

    Final Rating: "Good" ~ 7/10.

The standoffs are great fun, and the timings are generous. I loved everything about the combat in this game. Killing enemies with headshots using your longbow, using your kunai and special abilities in the heat of battle, and parrying your enemies and counterattacking in a duel, this is all mechanics I enjoy immensely. I got the Platinum and except for maybe way too many Inari shrines, it was a very natural trophy hunt, very fun and filled with the kind of tasks I enjoy doing on a platinum hunt. My favorite character is Lady Masako. Her character development was at another level, and each and every step of her quest line was way beyond my expectations when playing a videogame. Maybe I should adjust those expectations in the future. Expand

There’s little to no problems with this game, in fact the worst thing I could say is the enemy variety is not great and their ai is dumb af, but then again it makes you feel more badass with less of a learning curve than sekiro. Sekiro is a perfect game but it’s far too difficult to get into. Play both for a true ninja-samurai experience.

Expand

Well, the first thing that will draw your attention is the art direction. It's crazy how much the wind impacts how the game looks. The world seems alive and unique since you feel like a samurai. More than that, the mechanics encourage you to explore naturally. You wanna find your mission or health places? just follow the wind. That way, HUD is almost unnecessary for most of the game. The use of colors and cinematography is top tier either. I can't remember another game that drove me so many times to just appreciate the scenario and shoot a photo of it. Also, the photography mode here is almost perfect. So many choices you can do, with a pretty volatile engine. Weather is a good example. It changes the game so much that it looks like another map sometimes.

The graphic is not the only satisfying thing. Gameplay-wise, this game shines. Combat flows amazingly most of the time and the techniques made it a lot deeper than it would be without it. Boss fights are good, especially the scenario and context involving them. Its difficulty is relative, but I can't say it will demand knowledge and caution.

And about the story? It's ok, to be honest. The dialogs are kinda unnatural sometimes, and I believe that's bad considering the deep discussion that the game brings. The character development could be better. It's not bad, but abrupt. Happily, even with those flaws, I believe the discussion about honor and family - and overall the way of living - is beautifully set. I couldn't hold my tears at the very end, and both choices are so deep that it makes the journey worth your time.

Negative points? Fps drops and Stealph missions. Since the game is handled beautifully by and 2013 console, I will disregard it. But the stealth, man... those sections are bad since the game ends if you are caught. Good stealth games are volatile and the is not sometimes.

    Anyway, I totally recommend it.

Ghost of Tsushima is a flawed, but fun, game. While the gameplay itself was solid, and the story was decent, I definitely expected a lot more from Sony’s final PlayStation 4 exclusive. It had enough to keep me hooked, but lacked the polish we’ve all grown to love from a Sony first party game.

Ultimately, it feels like the game could have benefited from a smaller scope or a more linear structure. Focus on the duels could have created a more engrossing product, especially if it honed in on the narrative for a more concise and cinematic experience. But as it stands, Ghost of Tsushima is another AAA open world title and doesn’t seek to define itself as anything other than that.
