The sceneries are fantastic and the music is on point . It knows when to go wild and when to keep things calm. The game also offered it's players a free online DLC where you and a group of 3 can tackle survival waves or you and 1 more can attack legends in mini missions. Its honestly a game you should definitely check.

Wow . It's been a very long game that the story takes me to an another world. Just wow.
Combat mechanics + characters + story + music + depth of dialogues + graphics everything is great in ps5. Only enemy A.I is lack of intelligence, they don't hear you meanwhile you take out their friends 3-4 meters away. Gears+weapons+ skills etc. Everything is a masterpiece.

Some good graphics but some not so good textures too. I like the wind system.
Combat starts out really fun, but after a while, it becomes repeative and the game as a whole feels very samey too. I really wanted to like this but it's missing in more than a few areas.

Its recreation of Tsushima island is gorgeous and cohesive in its 13th century Japanese identity - scattered throughout the island are tons of fox dens, torii gates and hot springs. The character of the game just leads to a really immersive experience.

The game's story sees its protagonist, Jin Sakai, become the titular Ghost as he employs ever more dishonourable tactics to defeat the enemy and repel the Mongol invasion. It's a fun story to watch unfold, and it culminates in a genuinely emotional final duel that tops things off brilliantly.

Ghost of Tsushima certainly delivers on the gameplay front too - the combat is fluid and stylish, and the different sword stances afford it some depth. The bows feel good to use and there are enough other projectiles and abilities to keep combat fresh.

It must be said that the graphics and art direction in this game are excellent. The use of colour in particular leads to some lush, tranquil scenery, the vibrancy of which makes this recreation of Tsushima island a treat for the eyes. If you're anything like me, you'll be spending a lot of time in photo mode.

Another thing I'd like to praise is the guiding wind feature - swiping up on the touchpad causes the wind to blow around you in the direction of your current objective. This removes the need for a mini-map which helps to maintain the minimalist HUD, and I just think it's a smart little feature.

Ghost of Tsushima has a healthy amount of content, but it's not without some bloat. Some of the side quests are unexciting, and even though the open world busywork has a charm to it, it is still repetitious by nature.

Overall, this is a great title. It sticks to a tried-and-tested formula, but it does it so well that it doesn't matter; it's not a complete breath of fresh air, but it's a fitting swan song for the PS4.

The graphics are heavy impressive, that's the highlight of the game. Unfortunately a bad buy, I really thought that the game would be better than Assassin Creed .... Well, I'll play it through

Well, I'll play it through anyway, it'll be my game after work ... It's also not that I don't like Open World, it it's just that the game somehow has no soul. No thoughtful gameplay. So my two best Open World Games are, in 1st place "Red Dead Redemption 1" in 2nd place "Red Dead Redemption 2 and in 3rd place is" Horizon: Zero Dawn "... Ghost of Tsushima wants to be a good Open World Game , but in my eyes the story is the most important one that carries such a game and gives the game a soul .... Apropo soul, Dark Souls simply has the best combat system, it's a pity that I played that back then and all the games, also Souls Like Games, have to be measured against me ...

the art direction is phenomenal. i see a lot of comparison to assassins creed which really is a shame as ubisoft has watered down open world adventures games so much that people cant appreciate an excellent game, because it shares some of the same tropes as ubisofts yearly franchise.

It is an extremely immersive experience unlike anything I've ever played. A true tale of revenge as it were (unlike another game, which shall remain nameless), which is wrought via the blade of a samurai. Initially I thought the combat mechanics were very rigged from watching gameplay. However, after now having played it...they're not as rigged as I thought (slightly so). I guess one could say the movements are somewhat accurate since the combat is more realistic based than fantasy, It's easy to see that Sucker Punch are truly fans of Japanese culture since their depiction is so vivid.

There have been some who said combat is easy, but it's not...compared to Way of the Samurai 4 it is leagues harder because all enemies rush you at the same time (again more realistic based combat) versus enemies attacking one at a time. That said I give GOS a 9 (it would be a 10) because I feel like SP didn't go far enough with enemy deaths, such as cutting off limbs or decapitation from katana. I also feel like they stopped short with aesthetic customization's in that you can't color things the way you want, it's only preset colors. Overall though a solid game, very reminiscent of Tenchu...but also sets it's own benchmark.

*Note: You really have to be a fan of either the Samurai culture (old Samurai movies) and or Japanese culture to truly appreciate this game.

It may have similarities but what game doesn't anymore? Assassin's Creed wasn't the first for anything. It was just the most popular.

    Onto the proper review now.
Ghost of Tsushima is a massive open world game based on a real Japanese island. The story is intriguing but I found it could be buried in the countless hours of other things to do. Which wasn't entirely a bad thing. My largest issue is particularly the movement system in some situations, crawling through certain gaps requires the camera to be moved strangely and the parkour isn't extremely responsive or accurate. The swordplay is well done and the use of "Ghost weapons" compliment the combat system. The ranged weapons are simple and effective. No complaints there. The stealth combat is highly effective. I personally recommend playing on the "Hard" difficulty with expert HUD for a more immersive experience. The landscape and visuals to this game are quite pleasing to the eyes. Very colorful but also can be gloomy when need be. One thing I must compliment any game on is the lack of microtransactions. Nothing in game is purchasable there is no unfair advantage in co-op and no way to get ahead in this game early on. Without spoiling the story I can assure you it's quite interesting but if you like it will be down to you. None the less it's an extremely fun game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. So we have a great story of the "first" shinobi who gave up his past to create better future and on the way we meet lots of colourful characters that will help us in this journey and we might help them as well in their struggle. Overall I would recommend this game to everybody and 100% I will play it again (not seeing much sense in ng+ and connecting it sometimes with soulslike which I love but this is great story game) I can see a great series leading to 15th century when we might see story of Iga Province.
I've finished the game with all side stories and upgrades etc. and I have few minor issues with this game :
    - Walking on ropes is very risky and not as smooth as it should be. Game require you to jump from one rope to another even if they are almost connected which might cause a fault.
    - There would be great if we could turn off the yellow bird. I get the intentions but it became monster to what it should be, instead of big arrow pointing us to the place we have big arrow with annoying sound. Wind is enough and it's one of the best mechanics in game.
    - Quiver is something that bothers me in every game like this. I would love to see it being off when we take out the bow so we can have nice neet aesthetics.
    - Dialog options are often not intuitive. I couldn't predict and sometimes was surprised what my option lead me to.

This game was made by a team that seemed dedicated to providing those who played it with a remarkably smooth, seamless and overall engaging experience. And while it is not a perfect masterpiece by any means, so much of it works perfectly even as the game apes tired tropes from similar games.

Ghost of Tsushima's story is consistently engaging, hard-hitting and nuanced. Without spoiling the game, the most that can be said about it is that it is both memorable and filled with tried, tested and true standards for storytelling - this does not lead it to be filled with cliché story beats, however. In the most praiseworthy way possible, it avoids many tired, overdone tropes without being avant-garde, making it a gripping and powerful tale that does the rest of the game's quality justice.

While the story is fantastic on its own, the game's mechanical stability (its remarkably short load times are particularly impressive), its open world, its fine-tuned, hair-raising combat and its sense of progression are all strengths that this game puts on display at every turn. The allure of some new means of increasing Jin Sakai's strength or adding to his vast array of costume choices draws players to exploring the island of Tsushima - while that kind of bait is interesting enough on its own, the astonishingly beautiful environments beg to be explored in and of themselves.

For all the praise this game has rightfully earned, however, Ghost of Tsushima suffers from what could be called "Naughty Dog Syndrome." The Uncharted-style cliff-climbing occasionally found in this game is so rote and by-the-numbers that it is painful. In a game that thrives upon allowing players to explore feudal Japan as a skilled samurai, this highly restrictive and forced approach to exploration feels like a slap in the face, especially when considering the impact Breath of the Wild recently had on open-world exploration.

A final (minor) nitpick about Ghost of Tsushima worth mentioning is that the game's replay value feels limited. Once Tsushima has been fully explored and the game has been beaten, the only remaining thing that might be worth would be to slay roaming bands of enemies that linger after completion of the main campaign. And despite the game's remarkable combat system, fighting enemies alone (without the felt sense of progression that is accrued via filling out the skill tree) cannot prevent this game from feeling either short or lacking. Having said that, the 40-or-so hours you might derive from Ghost of Tsushima will be thoroughly enjoyable - so little of this game felt like a drag, which, again, speaks to its remarkable quality - a testament to the effort put in by its developers.

Despite the most recent criticisms I have levelled against Ghost of Tsushima, this game is remarkable. It is readily accessible, reasonably challenging without being off-putting, entirely compelling and fascinatingly engaging. Any slight against it is easily countered by a bevy of standout positive qualities, and it is an easy recommendation to just about anyone who enjoys playing video games. It may not have the lasting appeal of some other open-world games (i.e. Skyrim), but it will grip you tightly and unrelentingly all throughout its main campaign, and perhaps even a little longer.

Ghost of Tsushima is by far the best game I have ever played in 2020 because of the satisfying combat and the incredible views that you will see in the game. I think Sucker Punch made an excellent game after the Infamous second son. The only Bad thing about this game is just sometimes game repeat itself but I didn't felt like that much but overall this game is enjoyable.

Ghost of Tsushima offers a beautiful looking world that is worth you're time exploring. The soundtrack is top quality and so too are the graphics. The side content was good and so too was the story. A few bugs here and there did hinder the experience but it wasn't excessive and there where a few repetitive world tasks that weren't all that great.

This is my personal game of the year

There are a few things that stop this from being perfect: firstly too many similar encounters on road (gets tiresome by end), lack of a lock on, and for me the worst thing is that dying in combat often lead you re-starting with almost no health (what’s the point - if the encounter was hard before, it then becomes impossible... especially in the boss fights. Wasted my time having to quit and reload from a prior save point. However the story was great - though it ends to suddenly (though the game is also too long if 100% ing). I really preffeeed the Japanese VO... couldn’t play with English. The game just had a fun and engaging flow/mechanic. And perfect at 60FPS on PS5! Expand

The rest of the world (when you aren’t completing the same tasks) has you on the search for a number of different collectibles, of which there are over 100+. Don’t get me wrong, the game does some interesting things such as combat stances and mythic tales, and the story’s finale is great, however I can’t help but feel this game is overachieving, it’s not bad but it’s already been done time and time again in this generation. I’ve platinumed it because it was achievable, not because it was extremely enjoyable. Nowhere near the 9.2 it currently has. Expand

Fantastic game from start to finish. Rich in story telling and environmental design the game is almost without flaw that will leave you stunned many a time through it's lengthy campaign.

The story is a fresh tale that has many organic story telling elements that derive from Japanese legend. It is carefully weaved and sewn into the game with such finesse that even minor side missions will leave an impact on you. Upgrade system is well structured and is fitting when you max out your abilities, you earn the title of the Ghost. Voice acting is also superb, every emotional syllable is delivered with such raw emotion and tone that it's easily one of the standouts of the game. The side objectives and collectibles are done with such care, it didn't feel like the usual chore such as other monotonous games decide to include to pad the game time. SuckerPunch was the Developer that kept giving by providing a free Co-Op Multiplayer mode that required skill, communication and patience but resulted in much fun with a well executed game modes and concepts. The New Game+ feature that was also added was just the cherry on top.

The rare minor criticisms that I have of the game is that the text or other HUD icons would duplicate shadows around the vicinity of it's origin when sprinting making the gorgeous scenery somewhat tainted. Also, despite me praising the collectibles earlier I will note that there is too many and treads alone the line of becoming overwhelming. On the plus side not all collectibles need to be found in order to receive the coveted Platinum Trophy. The Hook mechanic seems to be very finicky and seems to be responsive only 3/4 of the time resulting in missed jumps to death. Also objectives in Legends are transparently convey, I had to resort multiple walkthrough to understand how to progress further in the chapters.

Overall, fantastic game with minor setbacks. One of the freshest single player open world games I've played in years.

Extremely overrated game, awful camera, only reason it got so many positives was thanks to last of us 2. Without last of us 2 this game would have been forgotten, even tho it is already forgotten. Only bots are giving it 10/10, but hardly anyone actually plays it. Ironically this overhype somehow convinced some people that it's actually something special.

TLDR: This game is incredibly aware of itself. It knows what it is, what story it's trying to tell, what vibe it's trying to establish, and it executes those things fantastically.

When I heard of Ghost of Tsushima, I wasn't really interested that much. Then I heard it was made by Suckerpunch and that pricked my ears up a bit. I loved the Infamous games, but this one seemed a bit different. Then I got this game as an unexpected present for my birthday and I'm incredibly happy that I did.

After finishing it, I'm left with many enjoyable memories. To be honest, when I first started playing it, I was a little underwhelmed. I wasn't hooked immediately and I felt a few graphical decisions and things such as map layout were clunky. They also played sound through the PS4 controller, which sounded pretty bad. But these were very short term downsides.

The more I played Ghost, the more I liked it. The world, gameplay and story really built on itself the deeper into the game I got.

    GAMEPLAY:
The shining star of the game. You really feel like a samurai on an epic quest. A well measured drip-feed of new mechanics keep the game fresh and right when a mechanic is starting to feel old or overused, the game moves on or the mechanic is renewed in some way.

    PERFORMANCE:
Never had any issues with lag, crashes or anything of that sort. I have no memory of load screens going too long or anything. Performance was great.

    STORY:
Both the main story and the side quests were well told through the characters which are kept elegant. You're not swamped with 10 million unique characters you can't remember and ever quest feels a bit personal to the character too.

    GRAPHICS:
Again, Suckerpunch knew what this game was and built it accordingly. The aesthetic of the game brings out great beauty while hiding some poor graphics. You don't get high-res zoom ups of peoples faces every single cutscene like some games try for, but this game doesn't need it. The world of Tsushima is beautiful and feels diverse and vibrant.

    CONCLUSION:
Sucker punch of honed their skills since the Infamous games. Ghost of Tushima, while not perfect, really reaches for perfection and gets very close. Every time I put down to controller for the day after playing Ghost, I just wanted to sit by a river and write Haiku.

Overall it reminded me of the first Assassin's Creed game. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. LETHAL MODE REVIEW (Completed it, so don't tell me to "git gud").

8.5/10. A very good game; a franchise with a lot of potential. But not without frustrating issues.

    Easy stuff:
    1) Music and audio - great. no complaints.
    2) Visuals - astounding. every few seconds is screenshot-worthy.
    3) Acting - (played in japanese, can't imagine playing in english) very good.
    4) Gameplay - good. it's like assassin's creed, but it's the sword combat that sets it apart.
    5) Free DLC that is actually good.
    6) Game launched as a complete game, even before DLC.
    7) No abusive microtransactions.

    Cons:
Sword Combat. Again, very good in general, but there are issues that become prominent in Lethal Mode. Be warned, because it can be very frustrating.
    1) Enemies have homing, sliding feet while they do their combos. You do not when you do your combos. Rolling out of the way is rendered pointless. Your sidestep must be pixel-perfect. They should have instead added a stamina bar to prevent roll spamming, instead of making cheesy enemies.
    2) Enemy attacks are lightning fast, to the point that this game is not about reflex - it is about manipulation and anticipation. Attack windups are literally less than half a second. Red and blue glints are even less than less than half a second. Unless you're 24 (age of peak human reflex), this game is far, FAR too fast. The devs failed to consider the latency of the dualshock 4, plus the fact that the ps4 runs at 30 fps (even less at times). Put these things together and the game is simply too fast. Lethal mode was clearly not play-tested enough. Lightning fast attacks would be fun on 144hz, and a wired keyboard and mouse; but not on aging hardware like this. What made the Dark Souls games great was that it felt good to dodge and block attacks. It felt good to memorize and know the patterns of bosses. Ghost of Tsushima ruins that tried-and-tested formula by speeding things up way, way too much. What happens is you must spam attack to force enemies to block and respond with only a limited number of moves. This way, you are able to eliminate a lot of their unpredictable and unreadable combos. In short, it feels bad to lose in this game, not like Dark Souls.
    3) Sword Stances feel undercooked, visually don't make sense, and don't mesh well with stagger system. This one is difficult to explain, but these two things put together feel really, REALLY silly. Moon Stance Kick staggers Fat Guys a lot, but it doesn't Stagger much Smaller Guys? Powerful-looking Twirling Slash from Wind Stance hurts Spear Guy a lot, but nobody else? Nonsense. Awesome Water Stance flurry hurts Shield Guys a lot, but nobody else? It's arbitrary. They didn't think it through. Use a combo system and moves list instead.

    Other Cons:
    1) stupid banner collection. 80 banners hidden around the world. pointless padding.
    2) stupid firefly mechanic. the firefly is way, way too slow, plus it forces you to put on the Traveller's Attire, which sucks for combat, so you are forced to swap in and out of it.
    3) stupid plot moment in act 2's ending. very avoidable, unearned, and emotionally manipulative.
    4) stupid plot moment regarding poison in act 3. very dumb - every culture has poisons.

If you're looking for a good time, GoT will deliver. Good job, Sucker Punch devs. Hoping GoT 2 is even more awesome. There's still room to grow. It's refreshing to get a ps4 exclusive that can wash off the bad taste of TLOU2.

As amazing as this game looks and as hooked as I am on the story, what really addicted me was the fights. The combat in this game is fantastic! I love learning new stances and new moves but even the basic block+attack strategy is so much fun. My favorite part of this game are the one on one showdowns... the samurai shodowns if you will ;) The strategy and camera work is next level.

This game has a lot of stealth too. You can play it how you want for the most part. Go in guns ablazin’ (if you’re good enough) or stealth or chip away at the enemy forces by attack and retreat tactics. There are some parts of the game that force stealth but overall you can play it however.

The only other stealth game I’ve played is Metal Gear Solid 1 on PS1 back in the day. So I won’t comment on it, other than to say that I enjoy it and am inexperienced with stealth in games.

There are a lot of cut scenes and dialogue. I’m not sure if it’s skippable b/c I haven’t tried. To me, it’s all necessary for the plot and many side plots and don’t see any filler.

This is the game that’s making me start paying attention to open world games again. Although I may have trouble finding another one as fun and visually stunning as this is. My sympathies to the Xbox owners out there. If you’re a PS4/PS4 owner then you should absolutely buy it.

Beautiful, fun, tense and well written in my opinion. Played for 8 hours straight and didn’t get bored at all. Exploration is rewarding, the map is huge and every random encounter you come across gives you multiple paths of achieving completion. Fighting gave me a few issues at times where I would swing at an enemy but would go off to their sides instead. Not like they dodged, more likeBeautiful, fun, tense and well written in my opinion. Other than that, it’s the best game of 2020 so far. Expand

The best samurai game in a long time and a great fun for all, who love action. Love for Japan and its history is a big plus, but its knowledge is not necessary to enjoy every minute of this beautiful game. [Issue#305]

Ghost of Tsushima is a flawed, but fun, game. While the gameplay itself was solid, and the story was decent, I definitely expected a lot more from Sony’s final PlayStation 4 exclusive. It had enough to keep me hooked, but lacked the polish we’ve all grown to love from a Sony first party game.

Ultimately, it feels like the game could have benefited from a smaller scope or a more linear structure. Focus on the duels could have created a more engrossing product, especially if it honed in on the narrative for a more concise and cinematic experience. But as it stands, Ghost of Tsushima is another AAA open world title and doesn’t seek to define itself as anything other than that.
