I believed that I could relive my childhood again...clearly not.

I remember being frustrated as a kid when playing the Crash games, that was expected since it was a great franchise yet you needed a lot of skill. Yet in this remaster, as the game description states, the developers decided to mess around with the slide jumping, WTF? Such a needless emphasis on a function that wasn't so important in the original. Crash cannot respond to fast button movements at all, so why make a double jump and slide motion the same action? All this does is create needless frustration and takes the genuine fun away from any of the games.

I can't fault the graphics on Crash 2 (the one I played the most) at least, as it's more or less a spitting image of the original. I had also noticed that crash was larger in the original...more than likely to compensate for the precise movements need for the game play. Of course this isn't honoured in the remaster either.

In the level, The real Eel, the comparison of the game play is dramatically different. One example is the two machines that float vertically. You must jump over them then they descend. In this remaster that is not a remaster but a remake, the machines are rendered way too large to make even a competent jump to safety. The rotating fan blades are far too thick and fast to dodge without needlessly losing a life.

This is also the same for enemies that require jumping on to destroy. The spitting plants, machine octopi and spiked turtles are a prime example, and not the only ones. The area in which to jump on is way too small to adequately destroy these enemies.

The last straw came when playing the bonus round of the Piston it Away level. You must near the end of the bonus round and spin on the exclamation mark box. Then you must take a U-Turn and bounce on a deliberately unbroken box to be able to jump over a tower of instant death Nitro boxes. Of course this crucial box does not have the bounce it needs to jump the nitro.

I wish i could refund this game, but "unfortunately" the PSN network will not issue a refund for bad game developing. Crash Bandicoot is no longer fun; negatives outweigh the positives way too much and this is the last game that I ever download digitally. I paid £17.99 for these games (unbelievably, it's a sale price!?) and it's £17.99 too much,

    I feel cheated and poor.

It lost sight of the basic elements that make a collectible platformer enjoyable. This game doesn’t promote curious or keen gameplay, the movement isn’t smooth, and gathering collectibles never feels rewarding. Ultimately, the game winds up being an unpleasant nostalgia trip that nobody should pack their bags for."

To say this game is "slipshod" is probably doing it favors. Why no 60 fps for PS5?
When you (Activision) has the accountability for one of the greatest franchises in gaming history, and you just neglect it, you are not worthy of such a title. How hard can it be to unlock framerate on PS5? The game has unlocked framerate on Xbox and PC. Come on

A Great remastered of the original 3 games although it's not 60 fps the game compensates for that with improved graphics and save system.

It’s sad, but the collision box of Crash seems to break the entire game.

This is less of an issue on the third game, but very infuriating in the first one.

Crash Bandicoot N. Same Trilogy is a great blast from the blast. While it might not be as inventive as a modern platformer, these games are still as good as they used to be. Crash 2: Cortex Strikes Back is the highlight, with the other two games also being quite fun. This is a must play for all Crash fans and anyone looking to play a PlayStation classic.

The sensitivity of the controls have completely ruined this game for me. For something that used to be aimed at kids back in the day, you certainly wouldn’t recommend that they play this trilogy.

Crash Bandicoot was Dark Souls before Dark Souls was a thing-- and by that I mean, the difficulty can be absurdly unrelenting. Crash Bandicoot is the epitome of "trial and error" gaming, and to get through most of the game's levels, you have to memorize them.

Back when I was a kid, I managed to achieve acquiring every single gem, crystal and platinum ankh in the second and third games, and when trying to do the same today, I marvel at the patience I must have had, because I had forgotten just how RIDICULOUSLY unfair the series was.

Toe barely over a cliff edge?
    You fall and die.
    Didn't jump far enough?
    You die.
    Jumped too far?
    You die.
Barely touch the edge of an enemy?
    You die.
Run past one enemy only for another one to suddenly surprise you over the hill because of the horrendous camera angles?
    You die.
    Jump too soon?
    You die.
    Jump too late?
    You die.
Spot an enemy on the screen as your sliding across a patch of ice, but you can't slow down in time?
    You die.
All your lives are gone. Game over.

And yet, somehow, Crash Bandicoot is still less forgiving than Dark Souls ever was. Gathering lives is a pain due to how many times you fall into pits. Gathering Aku masks is pointless for the same reason. Most of your deaths are due to falls, and this was always true in Crash Bandicoot games. When re-releasing the series, Vicarious Visions did nothing to update this, I imagine because they wanted to stay true to the original game's "spirit."

Well, the spirit of Crash is definitely there, and for that I'm grateful... but I'm also this close to chucking my controller across the room whenever I play these. I remember them being annoyingly hard, but not this harsh.

Still, a lot of the pain is worth reliving some of these games. The visuals are fantastic, and I never thought I'd see Crash updated to this level. And I'd be remiss if I didn't say I had a smile on my face when remembering myself as a kid, sitting on the floor with a Playstation controller in my hand and playing the hell out of these.

Are they as fun as I remember? Eh... sadly, no. They're a LOT more painful than I recall them being, and I don't know if that's intended or not. Do they reignite my love for old Playstation games? Absolutely.

Still... if you haven't played these games in the past, I actually wouldn't recommend them. They're at times insufferable and anger-inducing. Few games are as nonsensical as the Crash series nowadays, and there's a very good reason for that. Trial and error is really not any fun.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is nothing more than a cash grab by Vicarious Visions, in a pathetic attempt by Activision, to try and make Crash Bandicoot himself relevant again, when he's been forgotten and irrelevant since the PS1 Era ended. Do not buy.

The difficulty is still in these games and it can be weird playing with an analog stick since this game was used with a d-pad back in the day. But for it's price, you get 3 solid games that give it just the right modern touch to be enjoyable again

Good old vicious Crash Bandicoot. All three of these games for 60 or so dollars? Definitely worth it. The only reason I docked it a point is because if you want all the trophies be prepared to lose your sanity. Gold or better relic on the High Road... Good luck...

Got this as part of the PS5 collection. It is very telling to me that all these glowing reviews mention "childhood memories" in one way or another, because you have to have massive nostalgia for these games to hand out such high scores for a title that feels incredibly archaic to play in this day and age. I guess they stayed very "true to the original" because releasing these as new games nowadays with these controls and this camera absolutely would NOT fly at all. I never played the Crash games as a kid and I just find this game incredibly frustrating because you're supposed to make jumps with absolute pinpoint precision with less-than-stellar controls and a lack of depth perception (due to the fixed, zoomed-out camera) that is just absolutely infuriating. I think overall this is a great trilogy for platformers fans ! I think however that you should skip the first game completely and only focus on crash 2 and crash warped. The first game is too clunky and outdated...but Crash 2 and Crash 3 are good remasters in my opinion. I completed the trilogy in around 17 hours by focusing on the main mission.

Good game, but even as a remake, you can feel it's age. The controls and gameplay feels sluggish sometimes and there are several hitbox and depth problems. Nonetheless, it's a good game with funny characters, great visuals as a remake and the platforming - although I said, aged - isn't bad. But it's challenging.. So if you don't like hard games, you won't have a good time with this.
