It's sad to see this kind of ports released this way, i'm almost finished with symphony of the night, and it is really bad, the controls are the same as the psp (meaning there is no L2/R2), the control keeps vibrating with each movement from alucard, the sounds the ps4 controller makes should be a "good" idea, but it sounds awful, there are a lot of sound and graphical issues, it was a badIt's sad to see this kind of ports released this way, i'm almost finished with symphony of the night, and it is really bad, the controls are the same as the psp (meaning there is no L2/R2), the control keeps vibrating with each movement from alucard, the sounds the ps4 controller makes should be a "good" idea, but it sounds awful, there are a lot of sound and graphical issues, it was a bad port, and as some other psp ports to the ps4 i'm going to asume they are using a psp emulator with some extra tweaks for the ps4 controller functions, konami is taking a really shameful approach to his recent games/ports/remakes. To be honest i really regret getting this "remastered" collection (as i already own the psp dracula x chronicles. Expand

Only worth buying for the Symphony which is terrific. Rondo of blood is a very cheap and frustrating game with some very questionable design choices.

This is not the PlayStation version you remember. This is a port of the PSP version. The voice acting and dialogue has been changed in small but impactful ways. If you want to hear Dracula’s cheesy opening speech, you’re out of luck. No “What is a man...” speech here.
Still a great game. But was hoping for the original PlayStation version, but this will do I suppose.

There's no separate trophy list for the games contained in this collection, meaning you're forced to play (and complete to 100%) the absolutely atrocious and severely outdated Rondo of Blood if you want to pick up a Platinum trophy for Symphony of the Night.

I've seen people getting bashed a lot for saying that Rondo of Blood sucks, but speaking as someone who didn't play it back in the days, it really does. SOTN has some of the same issues, such as cheap enemy placement and attack patterns, but you can take a lot more hits in that game, and you can upgrade you character to get even stronger. Here, you die in just a handful of hits, and after dying 3-or-so times, it's Game Over and you have to do the entire stage over again.

However, the biggest issue by far are the controls. If they were decent, I could probably endure the other stuff, but it feels like they're constantly working against me here, making things a thousand times harder than they should be.
Some people may say it's just a matter of getting used to them, but if "adapting to clunky controls" is a skill, it's certainly one I don't want to have enforced upon me.

Rondo of Blood really doesn't hold up to today's standards, and anyone claiming otherwise must simply be blinded by nostalgia. For me, this was one of the worst gaming experiences of my life, and considering the fact that I've been a gamer since the NES era and have seen my fair share of horrendous games throughout the years, that should probably tell you more than any further words possibly could.

Castlevania Requiem combines two of the best games in the Castlevania series. However, it does just that. The bare-bones presentation and weird mistakes keep this from becoming a must own collection.

For die-hard fans of the series, there is nothing new to be found here, but for those who never had a chance to get their hands on any of the Castlevania titles, this collection would be a perfect start to enter the Castlevania world.

Castlevania Requiem is a decent port of two classic, beloved games. At $20, PS4 players are getting a lot of value for their money. Both games have a lot of content with optional levels & a secret playable character in Rondo of Blood and a massive, open-ended map in Symphony of the Night. Castlevania fans wouldn’t be making a mistake by purchasing this collection.
