For fans of an open world RPG this one is on steroids. The main reason I bought this title was the video the devs had on the PS store explaining the game, what you got with it, what you get with season pass, and a roadmap. Lame story, feels like the quests are just there to be there, I can't feel the motivation of the characters, the characters themselves are mediocre, nothing special. Gameplay is good, except for the fact that you can't stick to the main story because you need to be a certain level, which you can reach only via pointless side quests. The graphics and the world are good.

Yes, it’s a slog but exploring ancient Egypt is great so spending extra money to upgrade doesn’t seem necessary to me and haven’t felt the need to do so. If you have enjoyed any of the Assassins Creed games of the past I think you will enjoy this one. Check it out!

+. A very good trip across the ancient egypt
+ The open world is really huge
    + Waouh the hdr
    + The combats are improved
    + The eagle, the nature

    - The framerate is not very good, 25/28fps on PS4 Pro
    - The quests are repetitive and not very interesting
    - The load of textures are pretty bad
    - The textures of rocks and mountains are pretty ugly
    - Induced to kill innocent animals

This Assasins creed is much better than Sindycate and Unity but is worst than the Ezio trilogy. If you want to have a gret time with a game, get this game out and try with other open world games: Horizon, Breath of the wild, Odissey

I love how they went back into ancient times as it is here where the series truly shines with their weapons, scenery and allowing the developers to run wild with their imagination. The main character Bayek is the most realistic AC character in the series. Yeah he might not be the playboy bunny like Ecio ,but he is neither the dull justice addicted Konnor Hathaway. Bayek is just a caring husband with his few moments and that is honestly enough for him to drive the narrative. So is the game truly a 10/10? No. But many reviewers below me complete the game on platinum with +100 hours and still rate it a 2/10 which is ridiculous. Of course it has it`s problems like the side quests that are just mindless grind without any sense of importance ,but it gets an A for effort to put a fresh taste into a dying series. I recommend this game to veterans and newcomers alike even on full price. Now only if they could delete those loot boxes... Expand

You have probably played Division or Destiny in the past and you like to get those purple blue and yellow weapon loots, this game has stuff to loot like shield, swords, bows, spears etc. Great stuff.

Be prepared of getting lost since there is no minimap to guide you, only a small compass on the top center of your tv screen..

You should concider playing this game on weekends or whenever you got enough spare time to be a couch potato, this game is a huge time sink if you get too immersed. Forget about the alarm clock.

What i would like to point out though is that the game seem to have some framerate issues at times and another thing you should also like to know is that if you are having issues starting up the game and you get black screen upon startup and crash to a destop, then try disabling fxaa on the nvidia setting on your computer or if you have some other card like amd just try to disable the fxaa feature on your card and let the game do it instead, it might help or it might not.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There are many wonderful things about this game, and as a software developer myself, I am in awe of a team that can make such a large complex software project work so well. It's a spectacularly good effort. Having said that though, I feel the design of the game as a game lacks quite a lot, and decreased my enjoyment. In this review I will go into some detail about the parts that I enjoyed and those that I did not.

I have never played any Assassin's Creed game before, so I didn't bring many preconceived ideas. I did expect there would be skulking in shadows and assassination. I also admit that I am not a skilful gamer, but I expect that most games are within my range of capabilities. When I played Horizon: Zero Dawn, I chose an easy mode, and then the game was so easy as to be boring, so I played Origins on Normal (with exceptions as will be noted below).

First, the positives. The world is beautiful! I completely love the way the Origins team has taken what is known about Ancient Egypt and reconstructed it and painted in nice colours. It's just wonderful. I love that there are so many different human models, and so many different actions they do, and so many different environments they interact with.

The quests are generally good. As I find main quests in games to be the worst, I prefer to do side quests. However the side quests were strongly related to the main quest, and tended to expand on the story, rather than being some random radiant nonsense. I feel the side quests did a great job of explaining what was happening in the world to the people who weren't the famous people. I also loved the scroll puzzles, and sorta like the revenge quests even though they were a bit out of place.

I loved the transport! In most games with horses, the horses are just too hard to control to bother with (looking at you, Breath of the Wild) so I either run places or fast travel. In Origins I regularly summoned my camel, or stole a felucca, or used whatever was at hand. The vehicles were a success.

I loved the birds! I loved how when you walk into a flock of herons, they flew away, and you could count on them doing it for other humans as well. I would very much like to see a stealth game which placed more emphasis on interactions with the world - skittish animals, creaking stairs, visible shadows, audible grunts - rather than just "push the stealthy button".

Which brings me to the bits I didn't like. The stealthy button didn't work most of the time! So many times I would poke my head into somewhere to have a look at what was happening, and be instantly noticed and end up in a melee. I adjusted from taking stealth-based abilities to taking melee ones just so I could keep up. Being stealthy didn't seem to be a viable option.

Furthermore, Bayek's parkour didn't help. The guy can't walk in a straight line, he's forever leaping up on something. He can't use a ladder to save himself, preferring to jump up onto a wall or a box, and he can't go down. I spent a good proportion of my time just trying to get Bayek go where I wanted him instead of somewhere stupid. It's really hard to sneak around fort when any intrusion messes with your movement.

The combat was okayish, but the lock-on functionality was way too eager to unlock itself. When you're badly wounded and staggering, unable to hit anyone, and Bayek insists on standing in a brazier rather than fighting or escaping, the game really is at its worst. And then while you're pressing all the buttons, the game decides you want to take a photo. NO! World's stupidest feature!

Much has been said about the game's level system, which was about the worst level system I've ever played. For an open world game, there's a too narrow window of things to do that are viable and interesting at your level.

Picking up loot doesn't work very well. There is click loot and hold loot, and you have to watch to see which the game is currently offering you. Very annoying. Then what you picked up vanishes so quickly you probably missed it anyway. Which is OK, because nothing you pick up is of much interest. The weapons are the most interesting, and they're so strongly tied to the level system that they're never of much interest.

And finally, the main quest. Like HZD and BotW and even Skyrim, the game loves its main quest and throws all of its tricks at you while you do it, by which I mean painful boss fights and dull cut scenes. Those are why I avoid the main quests. I like Investigation areas and Eradication areas, I don't need a fight I can't win to make the game interesting. Act IV of Origins was painfully dull, and I tried to avoid it.

It distresses me that game designers can make lovely and interesting things that I will do for hours, yet make the meaningful parts of their story so dull that I wander off to the kitchen instead. Origins may be a new direction for the AC franchise, but I wish in that regard they had chosen to lead rather than follow.

Each area having its own distinct looks, people, economy, and politics. This truly feels like a genuine recreation of those times and places. The story and characters are wonderful as well, keeping my interest until the end.
The game is slightly brought down by some awkward glitches and mechanics here and there, as well as the overabundance of side quests and unlockables which feels very overwhelming at times.
In the end though, this is probably the best game in the Assassin's Creed franchise, with so much beautiful stuff to see and do, and so much detail that it hurts. History nerds (such as myself) will also find so much to enjoy.

But, graphics are not enough to make a game great. The story has some intriguing elements but I found myself skipping cutscenes and Aya in particular I found to be an annoying character with her obstinate obedience but that may be my subjectivity.

The gameplay and missions are where it gets interesting. They have attempted to move away from mechanics found in earlier AC games but it's like the mechanics are holding on by their fingertips. As a game about assassins, it should not be surprising that most missions seem to involve travelling to a location and assassinating a target, but this does not impede the onset of boredom. Furthermore, the level cap of 40 deterred me from doing any more missions than I had to. I see they raised this cap with DLC, but I really don't like paying for that kind of thing since I'm already tired of the game itself.

Despite an attempt at rejuvenating the series, AC: Origins still relies on familiar concepts and mechanics such as collecting items and open-worlds full of inane side quests as well as crafting and looting. It was the locations that probably intrigued me most and the impressive visuals made me want to continue exploring. I did get over 40 hours out of the game, so it's well worth it if you can get a good price; just don't expect to be blown away.

Like its sub title ORIGNIS, Assassin's Creed made a huge change in this title and starts a new era for the whole franchise. Changing is always good but one thing I really hate is that the RPG mechanise made EXP becoming everything in this game. If your enemy's level is higher than yours, you probably cannot assassin him.

Assassin's Creed: Origins is the best game in the series, but it's a mediocre action RPG at its core. In this sense, it both succeeds and fails at being a much-needed franchise shakeup.

Origins is the newest installment in rather worn out series and a much appreciated and needed refresh. New combat and graphically fantastic environment with tons of content will gave you some nice moments. The game is not a blast but it is a proof that AC is back on the right track again, for now.

With a beautiful world you'll repeatedly die for and lethal toys to play with, Assassin's Creed Origins finally delivers the game you always wanted from the series. Brilliant. [Christmas 2017, p.87]
