I just finished the game, and this is a soulless piece of junk. The story sucks, (you can just mash 1 button the hole time and win every fight) the game tells you every time how to beat the enemy in every fight with helpboxses and messages, it requires you to buy lootboxes for the last 25% of the game.

Microtransactions in an $60 single player game is like buying a nice car and then after driving it for 1 year, a message pops up on the dashboard saying you can only drive a maximum of 40 mph unless you purchase more "credits".

    Unacceptable filthy greed.

The game might not be great, but giving it from a 0 to a 4 is simply stupid.
It has a lot of issues, but i think has more improvements than problems.
It's fun, it's not the best, but it doesn't need to be.

This is a DISGRACE to the AC series!
It lacks everything that the previous games had!
No open world, no lore (item drops), no stats (STR/DEX..), no complex skill tree.. Nothing...

This is simply the most horrible game I've ever played!
Complete waste of money and time. Don't bother.

It is sad that we have reached a point where games publishers think that charging full price for a game isn't enough; instead they want more money by giving the player incentive to pay for loot boxes. It is especially sad because the game itself is already a buggy, glitchy mess. Jeez Ubisoft, you make Bethesda look good.

Gonna be honest here, I'm a gamer first and foremost and I enjoy playing games every time I can. What I hate here is how they've gone absolutely nuts with microtransactions and other silly, stupid shticks. The optimization and lag are also terrible, especially on a mid-end gaming PC like my Windows 7.

Game's becoming more expensive than the Console itself. It's ridiculous.

Stop supporting such things, ask for refunds and stop feeding such greed this is totally not acceptable at all. I have not bought a game from Ubisoft since the last Rayman game. I thought they came to their senses, but NOOO! I already asked for a REFUND and I am done with Ubisoft and never buying their trash again. What makes it epic:

    - the hero is a real badass (and it's very pleasant to have him breaking enemy's bones)

    - the open world is unique and mesmerizing

    - quests are varied with always a good storytelling behind

    - you learn things about ancient cultures while playing (and this fun/educational aspect is unique these days)

For me this is definitely the best AC and probably one of the best game this year (just behind BotW).

Sure there are still some weaknesses as every game has had but the strengths greatly outweigh those weaknesses. The game itself does not entirely feel like an assassin’s creed game. It feels like I am playing Witcher 3 with Assassin’s Creed mechanics, in terms of character and mission depth. The glaring weakness in this game is stealth. Seems like Ubisoft took a step backwards when it comes to stealth but then again, you must realize this character does not start off as a trained assassin who know how to operate stealthy. I have never felt anything repetitive in this game which has been a downfall for previous games. The looting is quicker, the customization is endless, and the ability tree helps regulate story and character flow.

I've been playing the Assassins Creed series from the beginning, only having missed the "Rogue" entry being on last gen systems. Up until this point Revelations and Black Flag had been my favorite installments with fantastic storytelling and intriguing gameplay mechanics.

When I booted up Origins, the first reaction I had was wow there is a overwhelming amount to do in this game. The sprawling map has been separated into different "provinces" that all have an RPG like character level suggestion. It allows the player to choose their own direction along with a great risk/reward aspect in adventuring to secret tombs, hidden animal lairs and taking on enemies that are a higher level than you.

So far after about 16 hours in the story has felt like a slow drip of information getting you to care more about the characters (main story and side quests) then the overarching narrative. I look forward to seeing where they take the present day storyline at the later stages of the game.

As with some previous Assassins Creed games I've seen lots of comments and reviews mentioning bugs and glitches. Thankfully I've been fortunate, playing on my PS4 Pro, and haven't had any game breaking bugs, or crashes. The largest extent has been some slow-down and frame rate hiccups during cutscenes. Gameplay itself has been smooth and excellent.

The heavier elements of RPG and Loot based gear has been an absolute joy for me being a big fan of the Borderlands and Destiny franchises. Now granted, the loot in this game isn't on the same level as those mentioned, but hopefully it's a reward system they decide to continue with in future games. Also the expansive skill tree has been a delight, really allowing you to tailor Bayek into the style of assassin you enjoy playing as. Seeing an enemy Fort and being able to tackle it any way you want with your diverse skill-set has never felt better in the series.

Lastly the new combat system. It's slower, more brutal and definitely more "janky" then it has been in previous games, but I've actually appreciated the change. It makes fighting certain enemies and "bosses" feel more like a Dark Souls game then a "QTE" choreographed dance from this action genre. After a few hours once you start to get the hang of the different weapon classes and new abilities, you'll enjoy taking down each Phylake bounty hunter you encounter.

At the end of the day if you haven't been a fan of the Assassins Creed franchise in the past, this might actually be the best one to dip your toe in and try. There are certainly better true RPG's on the market right now but Ubisoft has done an amazing job taking great pieces from multiple genres and creating a wholly unique and engaging open world game. The setting, characters, side quests and atmosphere are all top notch, and I'll be spending hours upon hours in this virtual desert for the foreseeable future.

First off, just like with AC4 this game simply doesn't feel like an Assassin's Creed game and the protagonist never really feels like an assassin. As a fan of the series who has played every installment, I can tell you for a fact that this game feels much more like a cross between Farcry and AC, and this isn't a good thing. If you were hoping to experience dashing across the rooftops of Rome or Venice, like in previous titles, then think again. There is very little in the way of verticality in this game and unlike in AC4 where you had verticality in the wilderness, in ACO you have desert, flat, dead desert. Those who are comparing it to Horizon Zero Dawn are correct, as most "assassinations" happen by whistling people over to the tall grass and then assassinating them when prompted. And with the new level system there is no more walk up slowly and assassinate two guards simultaneously with your double hidden blades like in previous titles. Quite frankly, you never really feel like an assassin in this game, but rather a warrior who sometimes murders people quietly. The combat system is also garbage. Granted, the combat system in other AC titles wasn't excellent either, it's just that this also takes huge cues from Horizon ZD, and the leveling system ensures that you will simply be murdered by anyone who is too high level for you restricting where you can go and what you can do in this "open world." On the positive side, the world is definitely the biggest we have ever gotten in an AC game, and the graphics are beautiful. The colors and detail is very vibrant. However, the crafting, leveling, skill points, loot system, and leveling up/looting higher level weapons and gear all feels out of place. I see what they were trying to do, they were trying to expand the AC franchise and what can be done, but I can't help but feel like they could have done it better and in a way that would have felt more like an assassin's creed game instead of assassin's farcry. Honestly everything in this game feels like it is mediocre and rushed. I know Ubisoft took a year off to better polish this game, but honestly for what they were trying to accomplish with this game, it needed at least a 4 year development cycle or more to be able to pull it off, without it feeling cheap like it does. There is some fun here, and the story is. . . decent? Because of this I give it a 4, mediocre at best, and only worth a buy after a couple of price drops. Honestly, you would do better to just go get Horizon ZD if you have a PS4 or just skip this title until it's in the sales bin. Expand

I thought he was serious when he needed to be serious and very charming and funny when he needed to be funny. A great blend of serious and charismatic. I have been asking for a Assassin's Creed in Egypt for a long time, and wanted it more than the Japan and and Future. I am glad we finally got it because Egypt has countless possibilities to do. I am a little disappointed they chose 49-46BC rather than Ramses II and Moses 1280BC. Where there could of been the plagues of Egypt, meeting Moses, the parting of the Red Sea. Now that would of been something to see, but maybe that was pushing it to far with the time. With that said I am happy we got an Egypt AC game and I am stoked it turned out this good. That two year break was much needed for everyone and for Ubisoft. Expand

This is the first time in a long time I wasn't yawning halfway through the main story. This has to be hands down one of the greatest settings for a videogame. No more lame buildings with the same look every 2 minutes. Each zone has its own unique look and feel. The combat did feel a little clunky at first, but honestly, I was just bad at the game. Levels 2,3,4,5 I was getting schooled 1v1 by some enemies. Once I got out of the old habit of trying to spam kill and adapted strategy, by level 6 I was 5v1ing these enemies. They also streamlined gathering too. No crappy animation to wait for, just kill and loot. Oh, and the skill tree is actually a skill tree with something to look forward to. No stupid 5% damage buff crap. You actually get new skills. I was actually thinking about passing this up because that's what I've done the past few years. I'm so glad I didn't. This game is a blast to play. Oh, and to the crybabies whining about micro transactions here's a little tip for you... You don't HAVE to buy them. I don't get why anyone would but obviously people do or they wouldn't be in the game. Look at it this way. If you could get paid a little more money for your work, would you? Now shut up and go make a better game. Expand

Obviously it's beautiful to look at. I'm playing it on my Epson 8350 1080p projector on the base PS4 and it looks so good that it convinced me I don't need to upgrade to a 4k projector until the PS5 comes out.

If you loved Blag Flag, I can't see how you would be disappointed in this game. I'm baffled by the critics giving it a score in the 60s. I have to wonder if they are just trying to make a name for themselves or draw traffic.

10/10 Because this game deserves better than a 7.9. this is my attempt to bring the average back up. It is a solid 9/10 game. It is a flushed out RPG, compelling/ memorable main & side quests, much improved combat, and a wonderfully crafted open world.

This game is akin to the Witcher 3, the best game ever made, and that is a great thing.

And after that every AC game was the same. Few activities repeated over and over again. AC 4 was little different but it was still same boting ass AC I know. With ships.

I bought Origins because it was first AC game that was released after 2 years and not after 1. And it shows.

Combat is more refined. It's not just right clicking over and over again like in previous games. Nor it is button smashing like in Syndicate. Combat here is actually fun. And FINALLY you CAN DIE during combat. In previous games unless you were retarded somehow, it was almost impossible to die. Stupid fall from high place killed me more often that fight with 10 or more enemies at once.

Graphics are amazing. Egypt look beautiful. Often I just stare at the scenery. And there is something great with desert contrasting with green terrain near rivers.

Quests finally are interesting. At least they are not copy-paste and have some real backstory. It's not like "you need to go and listen to this guy" over and over again anymore. Still there is a room for improvement.

Story is actually interesting and I keep track of it. In all previous AC games I did not care because it was always about "killing X important people from the templars"

Your AC costume actually make sense in this game. In previous games your costume always had same style. Because of that you were looking like a drag queen in kids party on the street. Why guard did not recognize You all the time - i have no idea. Here all make sense. People here carry weapons and cover themselves because of the sand.

So in the end... this is kinda fun game to play. And I think I will actually finish it. It's much better than all previous AC games in my opinion. Worth checking.

People keep saying "that year off really made a difference." Well, Origins wasn't made by the same team who did Syndicate and Unity. It was made by the Black Flag team, and they've been working on this one for years. I'm not sure why these people think this game could possibly have been made in just two years of time.

For those (like me) who've been waiting for the next evolution of the series since Assassin's Creed 2, look no further. I'm gonna be sinking a whole lot of time into this one.

In Origins the only game loops are happen when you explicitly pick up a mission (be it main mission or side quest). I feel like I'm at work, constantly looking for someone to give me orders.

Also, all the other AC titles had this neat feature where you could basically push forward on the joystick and your character will do this aesthetically pleasing free run over buildings, or climb a building, or whatnot. That doesn't really happen here.

I don't object to the new leveling system or tech tree. But the fact that I can't just run around and be amazed at my characters agility, and have a nice little 10 minute game loops, really disappoints me.

I really can't understand how people rate a game that has more than 50 hours gameplay a negative review with just 30min in game or as soon as they see a bug!!!
    Come on guys!
*I will write my review for this after I've played it completely, but for now everything looks awesome* Ok, as people like to know about the game, I'm listing some of my opinion after about 5hrs gameplay: +

Ok, as people like to know about the game, I'm listing some of my opinion after about 5hrs gameplay:

+ Start of the game and story is strong
+ Bayek, His act and voice is superb
+ Egypt, it's recreation and graphics are awesome.
+ Music and ambient sounds are perfect
+ The redesigned fighting system fits so well and I like it (It's more personal maybe)
+ So many other gameplay options like: changing the time and people behavior about the time, their routine life, one key for parkor system and it's fluid animations, ...

    - Lack of sprint for horse, camel
    - No option for how much time you want to pass
    - AI and enemy behavior could be much better!

Отличная графика, уникальный сетинг древнего Египта, огромный открытый мир с интересным контентом, который не хуже Ведьмака 3. Лучшая игра в серии, деньги свои отбивает на все сто!

One of the best gaming experience of the year. The story is beautifule if you explore a bit and find hidden clues about Bayek past. The music is amazing too its exactly the theme that you can imagine for ancient Egypt. And at last but not least its one of the most living open world i ever saw.

Assassins creed origins is fresh, dark and keeps it self interesting. ancient Egypt is beautiful and full of life. there are surprises and twists for you to encounter i'm pretty sure you'll love it. the story is rich, side quests are plenty and the game is one of the best assassins creed game after ac 2 and ac 4 black flack. i recommend to everyone

Assassin's Creed: Origins is the best game in the series, but it's a mediocre action RPG at its core. In this sense, it both succeeds and fails at being a much-needed franchise shakeup.

Origins is the newest installment in rather worn out series and a much appreciated and needed refresh. New combat and graphically fantastic environment with tons of content will gave you some nice moments. The game is not a blast but it is a proof that AC is back on the right track again, for now.

With a beautiful world you'll repeatedly die for and lethal toys to play with, Assassin's Creed Origins finally delivers the game you always wanted from the series. Brilliant. [Christmas 2017, p.87]
