At first, I wasn’t taken by this game and I almost regretted my purchase. However, after a couple of hours playing the game, I can say that I’m really enjoying it.

Assassins Creed Origins is lovely to look at and I’m enjoying the more RPG aspects of it. I didn’t realise the game had the dreaded micro-transactions when I purchased it but so far I haven’t felt the need to buy any. Yes,

Yes, it’s a slog but exploring ancient Egypt is great so spending extra money to upgrade doesn’t seem necessary to me and haven’t felt the need to do so. If you have enjoyed any of the Assassins Creed games of the past I think you will enjoy this one. Check it out!

So far this is the only assassins creed that has managed to surpass assassins creed 2. Its that good. Of course this is my opinion but it is absolutely amazing. Combat is awesome, stealth is awesome, exploration is amazing and the story is great. Bayek is one of my favorite assassins and dont even get me started on the graphics. Holy crap are they amazing. Best ive seen. Buy this game.

I skipped Unity due to the issues and never got around to playing Syndicate. I was very excited to see what that team could do with this game, given they took extra time to reinvent Assassin's Creed. I am glad to say that the extra year helped make this into one of the best Assassin's Creed games. The game takes a couple hours to open up but once you leave the tutorial area the game begins to shine. This is one of the best, if not the best open world I have played in. It is almost as good as the world in The Witcher 3. The main story is good but takes a back seat to the side quests and the open world itself. However, the ending is very good, especially for Assassin's Creed fans. The combat system is the most divisive change in the game. I personally like it as it takes more skill than previous games. For this first time in a while, getting surrounded can be very dangerous so it's smart to take the stealth option as long as you can. This game shows that if Ubisoft allows their studios more time to make their games, they are much better in the long run. If Assassin's Creed doesn't become annualized again it can become an amazing franchise again! Expand

I'm not sure I can ever buy another game at full price after this one. Here I am a month later and its already 20$ off. It probably should have been priced at 40$ to begin with.

    1. Microtransactions....again. If you want the cool stuff, or not having to grind for materials, you have to pay. 2. Combat? What is this? Its like the Witcher meets tomb raider. Clunky combat, weird

    1. Microtransactions....again. If you want the cool stuff, or not having to grind for materials, you have to pay.
    2. Combat? What is this? Its like the Witcher meets tomb raider. Clunky combat, weird timing...combat really isn't fun. I have more fun watching enemies kill themselves than actually fighting them.
    3. HUGE world, just really boring. Same thing, over, and over, and over, and over, and over. Go somewhere, get quest, find person, save them or kill them, repeat over and over with very subtle differences.
    4. Loading up from a saved game takes about a minute and a half. Loading from fast travel to fast travel takes about 30 seconds.
    5. The story was pretty boring, a few twists here and there but nothing memorable or spectacular. I have beaten the game and still dont quite understand what the protagonists goal was. (The person visiting the Animus.) Maybe I didn't pay enough attention, but I didn't really feel like I wanted to either.
    6. Easy. This game was just flat out easy using stealth. Nothing even had a chance with sleep dart or poison darts.
    7. They could have added more environmental interactions/traps/distractions/etc...The few you have (fire) gets old pretty quickly.
This game is just meh. I would buy it at 30$ no that I have played it, but due to microtransactions not a penny more.

Game really diminished my faith in buying a game on day 1 release. So much that I will never make this mistake again.

I read about loot-boxes and such: have not idea, haven't even clicked the store button and not sure I will. The game gives you any tools necessary to enjoy it without further cost. I am half-way through (level 27) and I have this old familiar feeling of "real life break - it's Ezio's time".

    Good effort.

This game is an amazing work of art. It has it's flaws but with time I'm sure they'll be ironed out and more content will be added on top of what is already initially provided. Well worth a purchase if you like games like The Witcher 3 and Horizon Zero Dawn.

This one isn't a perfect game, in fact in many ways it is a rather flawed game, but at its core it is fun to play and provides for 30+ hours of story game play.
The redesigned fighting mechanics is a welcome change, unfortunately it doesn't work as well with multiple enemies and it channels a lot of the Witcher however the interplay with the Ranged and the Melee makes for a challenge that for the most part is more fun than frustrating.
Exploration, Riding and the parkour mechanics are very improved and a lot of the frustration of the earlier games is removed. I mean for the most part you hardly have to do much, but trust me there is plenty going on in the game that you don't want to be distracted by broken climbing mechanics.
The Storyline starts very strong and draws you in but about 3/4ths through it just totally breaks. At about 15-20 hours in, I personally started getting bored and I had to take a couple of days off from the game, before the final 10 hours or so of it started. To be honest, i didn't get back into it for the story, because it had become a write off, the game was just fun enough for me to continue with that mishmash of a plot line.
The progression System is possibly, what is on most people's minds, the issue of loot boxes etc. Let's just say that this game is possibly at the borderline of what is acceptable. I bought the gold version and that version comes with really great in game advantages that possibly knocked off at least a couple hours worth of grinding. It also came with a Legendary weapon that i did not stop using till the final mission basically. So this inherently proves that real money changes/makes this game easier to play. Having said that, because of its core single player nature, I did not engage with the in game merchant, or spent any actual money in the store (You were given 500 Helix points for buying the deluxe version and again that is not an insignificant amount). The Merchant inside the game, can basically be ignored and the loot crates that he sells is purchasable using in game money, but its really a high amount and I never bothered with it.
Honestly, the fact this merchant who sells loot crates purchasable in game currency that is intensely purchasable using Helix Coins which are purchasable through Real $$, is basically gambling, but its impact in this game is reduced because of two factors. This is a single player game and the incentive to gamble is reduced and secondly you can basically spend real money to by helix coins to purchase actual goods in the store, without having to resort to this mechanic. So the store itself, that sells everything from weapons to crafting materials negates the effect of this In game merchant selling loot boxes. I am hoping that this loot box/gambling mechanic wasn't put in just to entrap someone who is addicted to actual gambling, because there is really no reason for this feature to exist in this game. I reduced one point in my review for this reason, I think if at all pay to win or as the game puts it timesavers are to be implemented they should be done the way they are in Assassins creed origins minus the in game merchant and his LootBoxes.
Overall, this game gives you value for money in that it is easily 30+ hours of gameplay that is fun and lets you explore some really beautiful levels that are really file like ancient Egypt. Egypt is the star here and frankly, while the mileage you get out of the game might be different, you will enjoy exploring Egypt, with a competent if not perfect combat system and a progression mechanic that is at times very grindy but just about stays honest.

Assassins Creed Origins takes place in Egypt around 49 BC, the time of Cleopatra and Julius Ceasar
You play as the last Medjay, Bayek and occassionaly as his wife Aya
Without spoiling the story, something happens that sends Bayek on a revenge quest.. a very personal one that makes Bayek feel real, and gives you a real connection with him…
Im going to get the bad out of the way first….
I found the story here to be the weakest in the series main line games…
As the name suggests.. Origins tells the story of how the Assassins Creed started…
But it sortve just goes.. okay.. the creed is a thing now.. heres an explanation of the symbol, bye…
It never feeks impactful or justified.,, it sort of just happens and left me disliking both of the games main characters
The story is more focused on Bayek and his revenge which is fine… it definitely pulled at my heart strings but the delivery of his story as well as the story of the creed felt so disjointed…
It has interesting characters from history such as Julius ceasar and Cleopatra…
But I feel these characters were never fully utilized in the way characters have been in past assassins creed games… theyre just there… which leaves this to be easily the most forgettable campaign
I feel this may mostly have to do with the game deciding to go the more RPG route.. where you cant just focus on the story as enemies 3 or more levels higher than you will just one hit kill you…
This had me going out and ignoring the story just to level up and clean the map…
And when I came back to play through the story it was over before I knew it
I put 40 hours into the game, not even touching half of its giant map and id be surprised if there was more than 6 to 8 hours of actual campaign content here..
Overall extrememly disappointed in the campaign, even though it has a powerful opening…
On a positive note with the campaign.. I loved that we got a peak into our targets minds after assassinating them.. reminding me more of the first game… and there is more of a Desmond Miles feel with the present day…
It sortve just feels there..not as intrusive as the desmond saga but I feel the potential for something here in the future and it’s a step in the right direction..
Now that most of my ranting is done..
    Gameplay and experience wise..
Assassins Creed Origins is one of the best games in the entire Assassins Creed series…
Egypt is huge, again there is nearly half of this game ive yet to even uncover…
But uncovering it all is what makes assassins creed origins so great..
It finally feels addictive again to discover, no longer is the setting just a background.. it’s a character for the first time since Assassins Creed 3
There is an ungodly amount of detail in this world… easily the best open world of the year, so much care and attention to detail..
Every inch of this game feels hand crafted rather than thrown into some algorithm
The world is full of question marks in a way that doesn’t feel overwhelming..
There are sidquests with real stories attached to them such as helping a suicidal widow get over her grief..
The characters in the world feel real.. the world feels alive, it goes on with or without you..
There are tombs and bandit camps for you to raid and captains to kill for weapons, there are the sync points for fast traveling.. there are animal dens, clues for treasure hunts, sunken ships to plunder..
And you have an egal companion named senu that can take to the sky and mark points of interest to lessen the frustration of searching for an areas treasure to earn that xp bonus for clearing an area
You can also fight in arenas or chariot race…
There is so much to do here in this gorgeous world…
Uncovering new locations will award you with xp so you can level up and use higher weapons and dump skill points into bayek,,
There is a skill tree that focuses on close combat, ranged combat, and tootls such as smoke bombs and being able to tame animals…
Assassins Creed Origins is so close to perfection..
I haven’t had this much fun exploring an open world in a long time…
of calling my horse or camel and setting off to uncover the next question mark and the secrets this world hides..
im excited to go back in.
But the poor campaign hurts my overall opinion of this game, as do the few annoyances I have with its climbing feeling unresponsive compared to syndicate and unity.. and not being able to interact with items until you get out of conflict when enemies are dozens of yards away… which is the biggest one…
Let enemies ineterupt me… stop locking me out of actions…
But this open world is the best open world since the witcher 3…
Assassins Creed is back to being an addictive map cleaner full of wonder.
    I give Assassins Creed Origins
    a 9/10

As an assassin's creed game it is a huge breath of fresh air while staying familiar in all the right places. As a video game in general it's beautiful too look at, fun to explore, and controls very well.

I did experience some minor graphical glitches in my play through which caused nothing more than a minor immersion breaker. I did not experience any crashing or other major glitches in my personal play through. The combat system being that of dark souls suffers the same downsides as it's application in those games. 1v1 the combat is absolutely fantastic but additional enemies can dampen the experience. The camera, like that in Dark Souls, has trouble with this scenario. I never felt like those moments were bad you just feel like the game is against you in those moments which, hey, if you are outnumbered, perhaps is the point.

I think this game is worth a full price purchase I had a blast and if it does see a sale for Black Friday 2017 I think this turns into a must buy.

The ending of the story leaves you pretty unsatisfied (you can check on reddit for a general concensus of that opinion), the new approach to gameplay which changes the usual and tried counter in fights is now changed to an action RPG with influences from The Witcher 3 but does not execute it properly, or at least I felt it so. The graphics also feel rushed and pretty lackluster.

If you're a fan of the series, I do recommend playing it, but most definitely at a lower price than it currently is. If you're not, you're better off playing The Ezio Collection or basically any other entry in the series and just read the minimal progression of the story this game has rather than play it.

Sorry to say this Ubisoft but no amount of money sent to reviewers will hide the truth of an uninspiring game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you want an actual Assassins Creed game, look somewhere else. A better and more descriptive name would've been Gladiators of Egypt or Angry Dad: An Egyptian Tale. I've platinum-ed the game on the PS4 and there this game have very little to do with the play style of what made Assassins Creed unique. Had the game not mentioned Animus, you would have thought it just an Egyptian Skyrim/Horizon Zero Dawn clone.

There is practically zero need to sneak around in the game, no penalties for being detected and most combat is spent in open conflict with some kind of heavy weapon. There's zero finesse required for any assassination mission, just kick down the front door to your target's location and hamfist your way to him with whatever weapon you choose.

"Crafting" in this game is just a grind fest, a better description would be more like a Upgrade Mini-game than actual crafting, you can only upgrade 5 pieces of gears anyways, and they just require a few different type of materials that you can obtain either from looting treasures or hunting animals around the world. The hunting was fun for about 2 hours then it quickly descends into a distracting job.

Progression of the story is marred by contact need to level-up your character or upgrade your gear due to the silly RPG leveling system Ubisoft decided to add to the game. While a metal blade through the throat of a lvl 10 Egyptian footman kills him, a lvl 30 Greek Soldier now has the power of the Xmen Colossus and becomes resistant to metal blade to the neck. There are no longer the lovely dance of death with counter kills and execution streaks. Ubisoft have devolved the combat of Assassins Creed to Call of Duty, if it moves, hit it with something heavy and sharp till it stops moving.

The story of the game is shallow, the characters are one dimensional. Compared to previous ACreed's characters like Ezio or even Haythem, Bayek is has about as much character as a piece of napkin with angry curse words written over it, and even less of an emotional range as Ronald Weasley, mostly stuck between very angry and very very angry. Unlike the cultured character we learned to love, Bayek has the vocabulary prowess as the typical American high school student, using mostly 4 letter words that can be commonly heard if one was working on a manure farm. Story can be summed up by a single sentence. "My son is dead, now I get to kill everybody I think is responsible." Oh, and we actually don't find out his son is dead until maybe an hour into the game after you kill a bunch of people which you have no idea why you're killing as a player.

The revenge mission of dead online players and instagram like feature of sharing screenshots in the game at best can be described as annoying, and at worst completely destroys immersion. Your mind has to decide if you're reliving the Ancient Egyptian past or if you're in some kind of facebook simulator skinned by an Egyptian theme.

The messages left by the precursor civilization that you can find by Bayek is long and cryptic to a point of being unnecessary. Imagine a typical technobabble on a star trek episode, then multiply that by 20 then topped again by useless references to everything "edgy" and "sciency" Ubisoft can think of that conveys a simple message of "Nothing is True" -Perception of reality is subjective, "everything is permitted" - All actions have consequences. And by the end you're not quite sure if its Bayek who found the message or they were build into the Animus because Bayek is simply not even responsive to the display of advanced technology or even puzzled by the technobabble, he simply stands there, like what Ubisoft wanted him to be, a large angry meat sack.

I have no idea how ANYONE can give his game more than a 5/10, but perhaps most people are easily pleased.

Egypt is a massive sprawling playground for you to explore, stealth and hack and slash your way through that you will be intrigued by. Sure, combat is a little basic with only light, heavy, dodge and parry in the meleé but you can also utilise your bows, of which there are 4 variations of, and attempt, later on in the game, to poison and send to sleep your enemies.

There are many missions in this game (125 in the vanilla edition) as well as tombs to explore and pilfer from, chariot racing, hunting (which is a part of the crafting system) and gladiator arena challenges too if you want a break from exploring and conquering but I felt that it could have benefited from something a little different to break up the monotony of its huge premise. Maybe a board game or two or card games would have been a nice addition but I am playing Devil's advocate here.

Graphics are a high for the series in its landscape but I can't help but feel that it is time for a new engine whereby the facial is concerned. Things just look a little dated on that front for me and this is only exacerbated when seeing the cut-scenes.

The skills and levelling system is handled well here giving you the freedom to upgrade the skills most useful to you over others. I would have liked the character level to have exceeded the hard cap of 40 which I reached after uncovering around half of the map but even after that there is plenty left to explore and witness.

All in all, this is a brilliant return for the AC series and will appease fans as well as welcome in new gamers to the franchise. This game sits as my second favourite in the series after the seminal AC2 and this is high praise from me. Dip your toe into this game and it will hook you.

i don't understand why people are giving this game low scores?!?!?! its definitely a refreshing game with a new approach on most mechanics. If you are looking for a fresh new assassins creed, well here is the game you will want to get. Bayek is a interesting character that will be remembered.

Nothing but beautiful landscapes.. very generic and soulless game. I can’t even finished it. Lvl 35 and u do the same thing over and over again. No sense of being an Assassin. Just poor open world action without an interest to play it.

AC origins doesn't deserve the praise it has received from the mainstream reviewers a lot of the game is just padding and it all got very repetitive and dull.

In conclusion if you enjoyed the last 20 AC games buy this! If you hoped for a change of pace and a solid story you will just be disappointed paying 100 dollars for one of the most disappointing sandbox game of this year considering shadow of war even with terrible loot box and real ending pay wall had a better story and minute to minute gameplay.

I may be hard on the game but with the bugs the bad mechanics and story players will be left wanting for a better experience after the promises and beauty of the world they created.

I was worried because in my opinion it has been a long time since there was a good assassins creed game and I didn't want the potential of the great setting and historical to be wasted on another disappointing game in what felt like a dying series. On the other hand, I was hopeful due to the game being developed by the team which made Assassins Creed Black Flag, which in my opinion was the best game in the series. Plus they had an extra year of development on the game which I hoped would help revive the series. Thankfully, the hopeful side of me was rewarded and I was given a great game that is easily up there in terms of quality with Black Flag and the Ezio Trilogy. The game's setting and graphics are both incredibly beautiful. Egypt in this game is enormous and looks fantastic, with many different kinds of environments ranging from vast deserts to lush rainforests. The gameplay is a much needed improvement for the series. The best way I can describe it is a mix of The Witcher 3 and Dark Souls. It has a similar lock on system and fighting styles to the souls series, with different weapon types each having their own unique styles and are suited for different types of ways to fight enemies. The dodging and movement feels very much like The Witcher 3, everything feeling very fluid and natural. The combat isn't the only thing the game borrows from the Witcher, as in a lot of ways it feels more like The Witcher 3 than an assassins creed game. While this might upset some fans of the series, to me it feels like a much needed change of pace. the map and how missions work are the things that are most similar to the witcher. The map consists of various question marks across the map to investigate and each are has a level cap where you probably shouldn't go to unless you are at least 2 or 3 levels behind what it tells you is the recommended level. There are around 60 sidequests in the game, with some of the quality of them being hit or miss. Some are simple fetch quests that aren't super interesting, while others having interesting stories them. As for the story, it is one of the stronger stories in the assassin’s creed series. It is fairly similar to the setup in Assassins Creed 2, with it being about the main character Bayek going on a revenge quest. While the setup itself is nothing really groundbreaking, it is the characters that really propel the story into being one of the more intriguing one’s in the series. Bayek, the protagonist in the story, is very good. He’s family man who suffered a tragedy in said family that sets up his quest for revenge. He has a lot of emotion to him and you really feel for him in the struggle that he is going through. Thankfully, unlike Connor from Assassins Creed 3, he is not completely one note. He is very noble and has a strong sense of morality, who is extremely dedicated to his wife and to helping the people of Egypt. He is charismatic as well, not afraid to crack a joke once in a while and has good chemistry with the characters around him. Thankfully he is not too jokey, because he doesn’t fall into the dashing funnyman rogue archetype that the assassins creed series has overused with many of its characters. Bayek’s wife Aya is also a standout in the story. She is very capable in her own right and is very dedicated to helping people similar to Bayek. The chemistry between Aya and Bayek is great. While they love and are very devoted to each other, both have different opinions on how they should be doing things. This along with the stress of a family tragedy they’ve experienced, provides an interesting subplot to the main story with the characters having trouble trying to coincide the love they feel for one with some disagreements that they have with one another. She often steals the show in the scenes that she appears in, and some individual missions where you get to play as her is a lot of fun. Assassins Creed Origins is a great game and is well rounded in all areas. Hopefully Ubisoft will take the hint and continue to not release these games annually, as in my opinion this has helped the series return to the kind of quality that it used to have. Expand

Guys I'm being serious - my biggest problem with ACO is...there's just nothing to do in this damn game. Listen, they've removed the optional challenges (my favourite feature of AC games), ALL collectibles, most side activities like optional assassinations and things like improving your hamlet in AC3 or playing with your fleet in AC4. And they have replaced it with....nothing. I guess people were fed up with collectibles and side activities but when you remove it all and replace it with nothing....it's boring. It really is.

ACO is flashy and beautiful and pulls you in for a few hours but then you'll realize you're doing just two things all over again - side quests and looting lairs (animal nests, forts, villas etc.) Over and over again. There isn't anything else to do. All the interesting set pieces and closed assassination areas like in Syndicate are gone too.

Sure there are oodles of side quests but they are usually about "go to X, talk to Y, kill ABC and bring back the stolen stuff". Plus the story is not very exciting, the beginnings of the Assassins are kindda humdrum. And the characters are boring too. Bayek is grouchy and uncharismatic and Aya is smart and strong but also about as warm and likeable as a granite block. The villains are just one big grey blob and the villain alpha dog looks like a beta neckbeard. There's nothing quirky or interesting or distinctive in the characters or the writing, it's all just one big, smooth and featureless mass product.

I know most people don't like the modern storyline about gods but at least it made the game unique. I've always thought the problem with the things people got fed up with over the 10 or so games - the optional challenges, the collectibles, the side activities, the modern storyline - was not that they were there but that they were half heartedly implemented. In ACO instead of improving them Ubisoft simply took them away.

I had a blast in the first 10 hours, then lost all interest. I just rushed the end. I never thought I'll say it but ACO is probably the most boring AC game since the first one, despite the attractive setting and potential for the metastory. Even AC3 was more interesting, at least there was Haytham. In it's boringness and staleness ACO is on par with Revelations. Looking back at it I feel like going back to Black Flag or even Syndicate. I actually liked Syndicate. Sigh.

Positives? The combat is fine, certainly more engaging then in previous games (although I liked the Syndicate combat too). And the world is beautiful and just gigantic. Too bad they haven't filled it up with much.

Decent character development and nice side-characters with memorable and surprising twists did the game very well. The RPG aspect was nice as well. They've clearly taken some direction from the recent Witcher game; following it's success.

I felt the skill tree was nice and varied along with having a good arsenal of weapons that can be upgraded and changed based on your own playstyle. The micro-transactions... I felt weren't as substantial as other games as I never felt forced to purchase any extra things for the game... I simply went through it and enjoyed it. The side quests didn't feel repetitive as other games have made the mistake of doing and always kept you interested. Moreover the actual gameplay was very satisfying to play with after intially getting used to it., I found myself taking down captains and other standard enemies a lot easier which slightly took away a fun and challenging aspect of the game even when increasing the difficulty, however you feel that you have earned this power after all the time you have put into the game. Another great thing I enjoyed in the game is the free roam, being able to work on the extra abilities and upgrading Bayek's health and damage by exploring, intercepting bandits and collecting hides was fun, and I actually found myself saying "Just one more thing, actually just this last thing" more times than I care to admit. The Phylakes addition into the game was great as you did feel on edge, and their initial power is scary and you genuinely feel like you have to avoid them to stay alive. Moreover, the you cannot simply run through a huge bandit camp, assassinate your target and leave, you have to strategically scale the outskirts of a castle, taking out guards or stealthily make your way through camps and loot them, gaining more powerful and satisfying rewards and gear. Also, the ability to upgrade your weapons to your level cap as you progress was a nice implementation as I found a sword I really liked and wanted to keep without it becoming weak as I leveled.

The replay-ability of this game I feel would die out after a while and would indeed become very 'samey' after either finishing or playing the game for a while, as most enemies and camps are the same, and the loot you get at level 40 cap becomes old after gaining legendary gear. A couple of crashes here and there and absolutely stunning visuals made for a great game, and a memorable experience.

Which brings me to my next point, it's clunky. The combat is some of the worst in the series. I get it they redesigned the battle system, and yay! Hooray for them-but if you're looking for a challenge, well you'll get one because the buttons don't work, the collision system is like something out of a crappy WWE game. Even free running is less fun. All around movement fail.

Hiding in bushes..."press triangle to assassinate". ok. Pressing, Pressing. I'm pressing the triangle button now! Hello? Next thing you know the ultra stupid guard is right on top of me as I'm doing a dance in a damn bush. He says, HEY! Aaaaand now I've got ALL the guards on me. Awesome game. Don't even get me started on pressing triangle to chain assassinate.

The game has some positives: I don't know what other negative reviewers are talking about, the game LOOKS beautiful, as long as it's not frozen. One guy said there's too much brown...WTF? The colors are gorgeous, the Nile, both above and below the surface looks and moves incredibly.

The voice acting is pretty good. The story is a bit weak. I never, ever felt connected to the assassin's nor to Bayek as a character. And as usual modern times gameplay is just the worst, and does nothing to further the story unless you want to read through 100 emails. Ubisoft. Why in the holy hell would I want to pop in your fresh new assassin's creed game, and spend any amount of time, literally checking emails. Am I at work or am I playing a video game?

My two sense. Worth a red box, don't buy it.

I found a workaround. Starting the game, plugging out and in the dongle from the headset helps.

After this first issues I can say now, that the game seems pretty amazing. The sound is not awesome but still very good. The graphics are really good and the graphics menu is the best I have ever seen. You have now an ingame fps graph which you can open with F1.

I play in 4k with everything maxed out and an average fps of 50.

The storytelling of the side quests is well done and understandable. It's always a full little story.

The main story after completing 30% of it, I don't know, It has it's good and bad sides. It would help, if you would get more information about egypt in that time ingame. But the characters are definetly better than in the last ACs it feels good to be a medjai.

    BTW:
If you google Medjau you will find the word written in hyroglyphes on the german wikipedia page and there is a hidden blade in it.
    Really good research Ubisoft.

    UPDATE2:
The main story is... ok. Not **** like in the Ezio Trilogy but ok.

But and that is a BIG but:
You can find several tombs and in some of them are underground constructions from the ones that where before and they are talking to the women that lays in the animus. But it is all just bla bla that references some theories that the modern science currently has. The reaction of the character is ZERO. Just ZERO. Ezio was mindblown as hell and your medjau just listens (like: i don't f***ing care).

So it is a good step back to what AC was and the historic part is really good, but the sci fi part is just cold bla bla. No soul, no heart, no mindblowing. A shame.

On a serious, the game is a return to form for the franchise. The side quests are the best that Assassin's Creed has ever had, as you actually care about a lot of the missions and remember them. The main story is good, but nothing outstanding. The game is barely but you can find a few glitches here and there. But not like other Assassin's Creed. The only game I can remember didn't have any lag was Black flag, so this is also a positive thing.

The weapon system is fun and new, a breath of fresh air, same goes for the fighting system. The best thing about this game is the open free world. The world is straight up gorgeous and full of life

Even if you're not a fan of the series I think you'd have a great time with this, and this is obviously a must-have for Assassin's Creed fans

The graphics overall are amazing and Ubisoft did a great job at recreating ancient Egypt, the atmosphere is phenomenal and the environment is spectacular and I would definitely recommend that you stop in your tracks and just go around discovering the vast and gorgeous world of AC: Origins. Now let's talk about a couple things that aren't so amazing. The combat is...interesting, it's not perfect, not by a mile. It was a bold decision that the devs made but it didn't pay off entirely, due to the lock on combat system you'll get yourself in a lot of sticky situations, when you're fighting multiple enemies at once you're gonna find yourself struggling to dodge and parry every attack being thrown at you. With a couple of tweaks here and there I think that the new combat system has the potential to be really good. Other than the combat I think that the story is kinda weak compared to other AC games, I don't really want to spoil anything so the one thing that I'll say is that the list of targets that you have to assassinate in Origins is by far the weakest of any other AC game. I haven't encountered any game breaking glitches or bugs so far, or anything that would ruin the experience that this game creates for the players, however one other thing that you should know is that though Origins tries really hard to promote stealth it's near impossible to actually be stealthy, enemies can very easily spot you when you're hiding, even if you're behind a wall there's a high chance you'll still be spotted. Overall AC: Origins is deserving of an 8.75 in my opinion as it's a fairly decent comeback for the AC franchise. As an AC fan Origins has definitely gotten me excited about the future of AC once again. Expand

Fantastic game. Such a charm going through Egypt and riding around on my camel and really feels like a step back in history. Love the fighting as seems easier to control now and the graphics are amazing. Really enjoying this game so far after around 4 hours into it. My favorite so far just ahead of Black Flag.

As a long time fan of the series, i can tell you Ubisoft haven't had the best luck in their past couple of games. AC3 being average (or even below), Unity being a disaster and Syndicate just being Unity but without the massive bugs.

Origins was the hit Ubisoft needed it to regain the fans trust in the series. The Map is very, very large with a variety of stuff to do. You can either do side quests, discover tombs, hunt animals, climb pretty much everything or you can just simply ride your horse and enjoy the beautiful graphics. The combat is bit difficult to get use to but eventually you'll figure it out. This game is by all means an RPG, which if you are not a fan of then you probably won't like but i love that aspect.

However, that doesn't mean it's perfect. Bayek as a protagonist is extremely bland, shallow and very boring. The Story is pretty much a recycled version of AC2, a revenge story in which you hunt down and kill shadowey figures who were involved in the murder of your son.
And finally we have bugs, it just woundn't be an Assassins creed game without its bugs. The game can get a bit buggy sometimes, E.G freezing for a minute then resuming, constant FPS drops (especially when you're fighting a large number of enemies) .
Micro-Transactions never were really a problem here, the game really doesn't force you to buy anything, unlike other games (looking at you Shadow of War).
But all in all i find myself satisfied with the game and it is definitely worth a buy.

The graphics are beyond anything I have seen on the PS4 so far, with the possible exception of Horizon: Zero Dawn. It's interesting to see two games from such different corners converge on phenomenal open world magic, and i can't wait for game developer details about the underlying engine.

I am really please with the main story line and side quests - both are extremely well scripted, and don't have the feeling of rote going through the motions I've had in recent Bioware games. I just played through a series of side quests in the wrong order, discovered that they still worked real well and was amazed at how they were tied together (if you had missed the first two that I did you would find them as part of doing the third and they would logically tie together). Some people appear to have put a lot of thought into this, and they clearly were very successful.

I have not encountered bugs or performance issues in gameplay, which for a game of this scope this close to release is quite frankly astounding. I supposed playing the console version helps (controlled environment), but the experience is rock solid and compares favourably to the previous two iterations of the franchise.

The locations are another high point for me - the different provinces each have a unique feel and the elements (houses, furniture) don't feel repetitive. To add sugar on top, you can see other provinces from pretty much everywhere.

Assassin's creed origins is an RPG. Now this is not an action adventure stealth game. ASSASSIN'S CREED ORIGINS decided to compete with The Witcher 3. The game does not even hide it. The developers also do not hide it. But I have one question: why? Assassin's creed was supposed to change in Uncharted 4. And then that would be great! Assassin's creed needs to compete with Naughty Dog, not CD Projekt RED. Assassin's creed needs to be an adventure and cinematic adventure like Uncharted 4, not overgrown and poteryavshie as textures RPG. But ASSASSIN'S CREED ORIGINS has all the elements of the genre. There is no variability of the plot and options dialogs, no consequences. The plot is linear. From an RPG we have a huge open world, combat system, lots of loot and crafting. it is a natural development of the series Assassin's creed, but I wish it was less, but more, prorabotano and cinematic.

The plot of the game is simple. And once again, we played as a character who's out for revenge. This is not a problem - he's got good reason for revenge. The story of the game consists of the gradual destruction of our goals, as it always has. Story missions interesting, made a very creative (Yes, that huge snake in the story missions). The story in ASSASSIN'S CREED ORIGINS very Mature. in it aremany drammatichnye moments. this is a very personal story. The protagonist himself Byek adult, wise, just, the protector of Egypt. this is not a frivolous guy, and see the life of a man. The plot has a few minus: 1) the Beginning of the game completely crumpled. If we were shown consecutively, as were all the carnage at the beginning would be better. 2) The End of history. At the end of the story the Bayek's wife - Aya. Yes, we also played, but to put an end to the story needs exactly the character that we control most of the game. 3) Poorly disclosed historical figures. The trailers gave the impression that we will long to spend time with Cleopatra and Caesar. But no. If Cleopatras we are a long time, Caesar just popped in for a few minutes. 3) Oren and the mysticism of ancient Egypt (I would like more mystery and hallucinations).

Additional tasks. Since this is an RPG, but a lot of them! Very much! It is good that these tasks are interesting. Not all, but most. There's no stupid "bring, bring". Each job has its own mini story. There are no dramatic level of The Witcher, but the writers have done well and some of them are memorable. although by the end of the game is a significant uniformity in the gameplay - every time you sneak into the enemy camp and to do something.

Changed combat system. She was vdohnovlaet Dark Souls and The Witcher, and the whole change came rather good than not. Now the combat system gives you a challenge. Now not easy to kill everyone by pressing a few buttons. In ASSASSIN'S CREED ORIGINS you have to plan every action. And each weapon has a different weight and the speed at which the impactors. But, for me, the combat system is not repaired until the end, it has quite a few flaws (especially the camera, which is becoming "Japanese").

The main thing in ASSASSIN'S CREED ORIGINS is Egypt. And recreated it perfectly! Let it rather monotonous (oases, similar to the city of palm trees and desert), but this is Egypt. Open world is very beautiful, the artists are great games its work. If textures are not quality, the scenery and draw distance is simply magnificent! Have a NPC has a daily routine that can help and assignments, and the simulation of life increased. The story of the characters, and those who give additional tasks can vstretil on the street. The developers have managed to fill in Egypt and it is not boring to travel.

ASSASSIN'S CREED ORIGINS is a good adventure. And a great tour of Egypt! Yes, the game was released early, she needs at least another half a year to be in development (the game has problems with animations, problems with the combat system, there are bugs). But for the game in an open world is a good result. It's not the best Assassin's creed since the story could have been done better, but this is a game that takes you in the world. I enjoyed studying all of Egypt, examined all the pyramids and performed all tasks. It is a good return after a year break. Assassin's creed has changed so much that if not the name, it can be difficult to determine what is Assassin's creed.

Come on guys! Really!? Don't be such cry babies!
If you liked previous Assassin's Creed games, then you will love this one too. You can play it in many different ways: Play it like Witcher 3, put more accent on the side quests, explore wonderful world of ancient Egypt, explore tombs, mountains forests and cities, help people along the way, collect goods and advance Bayek’s abilities. Play it in Ezo and Altair style and be an deadly assassin using stealth, sleep darts, poison, smokescreen, parkour and climbing.

Maybe you like direct approach so, use melee type of fighting. Shields, three types of swords and four types of heavy weapons like blunts, scepters spears and blades should be enough for even fierced Warriors.

Don't like close combat? No problem! You can be deadly (and stealthy) from a distance: use variety of bows and arrows (you can choose between four types of bows).

You will learn to appreciate Senu’s eagle vision more than you think, but be warned: scouting with Senu can ruin some exploration delights.

Love Lions? Then tame one! It's a deadly companion! Horses and camels are too slow for you? Use chariots instead! I can write a dozen tips like this.

There is fiew bad things too. For exsample, fighting with some enemies feels awkward, like you are connected to each other with a rubber band. You cannot escape series or blows and will most likely end up dead.
Fire. Bayak’s outfit (no matter which one) acts like it is made of paper and catches fire pretty damn quickly so avoid those god damn, in floor level, brassieres!
And last, supernatural cut scenes. You will see plenty of those. I won't spoil anything, but that was a bit too
much for my taste. Ubisoft should left it out or make it in some other way.

This game was not meant to be played in a rush. You have to be patient with it. Learn fighting mechanics, plan ahead, use tactics, upgrade your weapons and skills. Enemies are not so dumb anymore. In other words take your time and enjoy gameplay. It's not a perfect game, but Ubisoft made this one really good.

Unity and Syndicate both introduced small changes to the AC formula, while keeping the core principal untampered - find your target in a sprawling city, stealth your way to him vertically or horizontally and try your best to assassinate him by stabbing him in the back with your hidden blade, or if push comes to shove, use your assortment of other weapons to dispatch your target(s).

Origins takes the core idea and builds around it a larger scope of gameplay variety, while placing it in an open world environment. These are no subtle alterations, nor are they a departure from what makes an Assassin's Creed game an Assassin's Creed experience. Everything is still here, but bigger. Previous titles had upgrade mechanics, while Origins has a skill tree separated into three branches. All three compliment the core gameplay mechanics, thus alloweing the player to mix and match his favorite style of gameplay.

The setting for this installment - Ancient Egypt - is probably the most popular historical period in my personal opinion when looking back at the previous games. The world is sprinkled with amazing sights. While exploring, the player can come across a plethora of side activities that are not as cumbersome as in previous games in the series. That is because the development teams at Ubisoft drastically downsized the amout of collectables and opted for a larger emphasis on side quests, where each has its own unique storyline that ties with the main plot.

Overall Assassin's Creed Origins is a healthy return to form for the series! It feels like a true sequel that builds upon the core concept of the series.

For one this AC has the best map, the open world I feel is perfected in this entry. Being able to see the massive pyramids from many different locations far away on the map makes it feel like one big neighborhood and ties everything together nicely. The combat has been redone as well to make it a bit more challenging and in depth. Before the combat was merely like Batman and relied heavily on counters, now it has more of an action rpg feel to it where you lock on to targets and fight a bit more tactfully. There is also much more variety, 4 different types of bows, and a gear system.

Egypt is probably the most beautifully done areas they have presented thus far. I have not encountered any bugs, although I know many AC games have this I have yet to encounter any. I would not take reviews seriously that overblow this or act like they played half the game and saw bugs everywhere. It simply isn't true. This is a fantastic return for Assassin's Creed however people will hate on it because of the name alone, 10/10 for me. Awesome new display of currently technology. Forgot to mention that the designs of Egypt, weapons, outfits.. are OUTSTANDING. I’d swear it’s the Xbox crowd trying to give the PS4 version a bad name. The new update with HDR on my Sony 4K on PS 4 Pro is just stunning with fantastic frame rate. I just can’t believe such smooth gameplay with such awesome graphics.

The game mechanics and fighting is so real. The boats and travelling and climbing all so smooth. I’d give this game 100/100. It’s better than Tomb Raider and Unchartered and that’s saying heaps.

I did hear disgruntled Xbox X players saying for a $100extra their version doesn’t look any better than the PS4 Pro so they are really not happy. Maybe they came here trying to denigrate what is a classic.

There’s always day one bugs but I bought mine a week later so I have the update and it’s awesome.

Zero score is pure fanboyism and it’s sad that reviews of such a brilliant game is tarnished by these idiots.

All in all the game is an rpg with a level, skill and crafing system, where you have to level up so you can take on a higher leveled enemys. And the soundtrack is also beautiful. The game has microtransactions which isn’t something we want but they aren’t noticeable at all and you can play the game fine without them, they are just there to speed up your process if you don’t want to spend too much time on crafing or leveling up.

On a personal note, don’t listen to all the bad user reviews because it’s mostly hate.
I’m a big Assassin’s Creed fan myself but when I saw Origins for the first time I was a little bit worried that it wouldn’t play like an AC game but since the day I got it, I couldn’t let go of my controller, it’s so much fun. And after a week of the release I yet have to encounter any major bugs, I might had two npc that clipped through a mountain and an enemy that was stuck behind a ladder but that was it, nothing major. Every new game today has bugs that’s just how it is. But people love to hate on Ubisoft even if there’s no reason, like in AC Origins. And micro transactions, people give Origins so much **** for this but almost every game does it today and much worse because in Origins it’s not even noticeable. But with all said, I’d recommend to just go ahead and buy the game, you’re doing yourself a favor.

And no, I’m not paid by Ubisoft to say that, just wanted to clear that up because some people think we can’t have our own opinion. I just feel bad for the developpers that put so much love and time into game and then get so many bad user reviews from haters that are still pissed about the facted that the Ezio games had to end at some point.

1st: Why is the PS4 area buried in PC reviews? See all those 0's? That's PC people complaining about framerates etc. Metacritic user scores are getting to be irrelevant with all this 0 and 10 crap.

I honestly cannot understand the negative reviews. Honestly, I can't. ACO is a marvelous game. The environment is astounding. I have had no bugs or framerate problems. The gameplay is smooth

I honestly cannot understand the negative reviews. Honestly, I can't. ACO is a marvelous game. The environment is astounding. I have had no bugs or framerate problems. The gameplay is smooth and slick. The combat has been refined and is fun and effective. The side missions are interesting and fun and far superior to just about anything else out there. Every side mission is different and unique. There are no fetch quest side quests. Some may start that way but turn into something else. The world is alive and immersive. The hunting to craft is handled well and a nice addition. The story so far (I'm at level 24) is compelling enough and I'm interested in what is going to develop. IMO no game is a 10 unless it is groundbreaking in a spectacular way and no game is a 0 unless it is a completely broken pile of poops. It's ridiculous to rate a game a 0 without good reason. ACO is a great game, it looks great, works great and will provide 100's of hours of fun. There is an enormous amount of things to do. I say Bravo! Buy it, you won't regret it.

AH MAN!!! This game!!! I expected this game to be so bad when they first showed it at e3, but boy was i wrong. I lost hope in this franchise after unity, but this game has brought me back to this franchise.
The story is very engaging, gameplay was great , side quests were rewarding and just Egypt is beautiful. The main protagonist Bayek is so much better than Connor , Arno and Jacob

The story is really bad, disappointing, and stupid. But the side quests are good, well done, and the overall gameplay is one of the best I've played in an Assassin's Creed game.
This game made me want to play AC Brotherhood, the good one.

What is up with this negative review bombing? This game has had incredibly positive feedback pretty much across the board. I myself have put in over 20 hours so far and have loved every moment of it. Don't buy into the negativity. If you even remotely like open world games, try this game. You won't be disappointed. Can't wait to dive back in and explore more of ancient Egypt.

This is honestly a very solid game. it is a little buggy, mine crashed twice in a 35 hour play through and has some minor intermittent freezes, and a little annoying because of some crazy weird enemy attacks. However, I really enjoyed this game the new combat system really makes you play like an assassin would. Instead of just being able to run in to the middle of tons of huge enemies and kill them all without getting hit, the combat actually takes a little bit of skill, not a ton but enough to keep it interesting. Also the story is actually very good, I found following Bayek and Aya's journey to be very enjoyable. I can understand why some people are mad about the micro transactions, essentially just because they want them out of all games. I don't like them either and think they should be banned from games, however, I never even looked at the screen with the micro transactions in this game and was still able to have a good time with it and not struggle too much. This game is a solid assassins creed game and if that is what you want you will love it, however, if you wanted something completely different and revolutionary you will most likely be disappointed. Micro transactions absolutely ruin an otherwise playable game. I'm not even sure what the story is and I've been playing for about 10 hours. I stopped caring.

It has redeeming qualities but I can't get over the microtransactions.

After, the almost 2 GB Update on Nov. 2nd, it began to play more polished. Before the update, the FPS was terrible, everything looked like slow clay animation. The audio again before the update was scary bad. It sounded like a CB radio wrapped in foil, at the bottom of the ocean and stuck under a fish bowl. The combat is a mess, very frustrating at times.

Beside the bad things I have come across. The game is very beautiful, the story line is good and the side missions are fun. The game is overall fun and Ubisoft does do a good job with the exploring side of things. The map size is crazy large and shows promises for the future completion.

Played this game for about thirty hours now. I have really enjoyed AC:Origins in general, but sometimes I feel like, the game pushes you do a lot of side quests, even though you don't want to do it. On the other side I find the Open World and new combat system of the new Assassin's Creed game really successful. Ubisoft, you did a good job this time!

Came to this straight from the tedious loot box nonsense of Shadow of War. An epic game, beautiful visuals, best creed game since Ezzio, fully realised open world. Lets hope the ending is not hidden behind some cynical paywall.

I was highly doubtful when I picked up this game, but I'm glad I did. The graphics are amazing, the story and combat system are good, voice acting is mediocre and the bugs are few and acceptable.

My first Assassin's creed game, I feel this game is good. I love Ancient Egypt so much, Combat is fun, map is so huge you have to put a lot of time on it. It's so like Horizon and Witcher 3. I dont like Ubisoft much at all, but this AC you can really give it a try.

Pretty good game and I would actually put it above Black Flag but below the legendary Brotherhood. I really like the new ARPG elements but really hated he progression based main mission constraints. Ned to level up before I can progress the story. Having said that the game does not feel like a chore to me and I am already 28 hours in. I see some complained about the new combat system. Again I love it because it's very Witcher 3. Horizon Zero Dawn and Dark Souls like. You really need to choose the right weapon for different enemy. Heavy blunts for shielded foes and roman blade is good enough for low level guards.

It's the change that AC needed after Unity and Syndicate were pretty much just by the numbers sequels. I am sure some AC hardcore fans will hate the major changes but lets be honest that the new game is more challenging and fun. Now let's hope Ubisoft will keep the 2 year cycle because you can see the big changes they made. NO more incremental annual release.

A note on microtrancs. I never used it. You can get the same rare gears as sold by Nomad Camp by talking to him once a day. A unique 24hour mission will be open to you and the loot will either be rare or legendary. Pay to win? Sure if you are too lazy.

Assassin's Creed Origins is amazing, clearly the best game since the Ezio Trilogy. Everything about this game is beautiful, lots of hidden secrets, and side quest is not repetitive at all.. remind me about The Witcher 3.

Ah and don't forget, we can pet cats!

Thanks Ubisoft, Ashraf and the team, you did a fantastic job!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This review is partial and coming from a non AC player in the past, but have always been interested. I have played this game around 8 hours since picking it up on launch day.
My first impressions where that the grapics were amazing on my PS4 Pro, even though I have only been to two sections on this huge map , Siwa and the following area. There was plenty to do in this part of the game including main quest and side missions.
I have really enjoyed it so far as I have always been interested in ancient Egypt. I'm hoping missions do not get too repetitive. So far I see a variety.
Traveling to enemy controlled areas/bases have been fun. Sneaking around and assassinating soldiers, although not complicated, while your charatcter hides in the tall grass. During these parts of the game a main boss will need to be eliminated. Difficulty of a boss is based on rank. XP allows you to gain a higer number rank which I am currently at 8. Of course trying to take on a higher ranked character than yourself usually turns out for the worse for you.
With that being said you usually have to explore, complete side missions, and level up to move on. It will definetly be harder to just complete the main quest portion of the game in order to finish the game faster. Get ready to grind!
Combat for the most part works. Hit and dodge is the tactic here. You have the ability to lock on to one target at a time. There are many weapon variations to loot along the way. You can use a bow and arrow and switch over to a sword, axe and several other melee weapons based on the situation.
You travel from place to place on your horse, camel or other means and have fast travel options.
You also have a sidekick in the form of a bird that is seen in third person. This allows you to search the map for locations, enemies and most importantly scout ahead.
From what I have read this game is dramatically different from the previous AC titles. Hopefully this review has helped you decide if this game will be of interest or a waste of time and money. I personally am excited to venture farther into this game and huge map !

From what the reviews are saying, there's some pretty hardcore fanboyism going on here, so lemme put it straight:

DLCs and Microtransactions have no place in gaming.

Day 1 DLC? Microtransactions? Needing more than Win7 to be playable, let alone run properly?

What the hell is ubisoft doing?

    Big waste of a game.

Even if it seems cool to drive through many things, but this doesn't even include crash effects. This is, as I should say, a truckload of glitches. You drive though bridges, even from above, hills should've slowed you down, driving in reverse in a speed of 2005 mph is too mind crazing, and no level boundaries. This game is so bad that you can get dumb after playing it for 30 minutes.

Day-one dlc? AND microtransaction? WTF? Disgusting greed. Never AAA games again... EA and Ubisoft games... How did we admit it?

Dont buy. Ever. These companies should go bankrupt.

Guys and girls... go indie. We wants real games again.

Assassin's Creed: Origins is the best game in the series, but it's a mediocre action RPG at its core. In this sense, it both succeeds and fails at being a much-needed franchise shakeup.

Origins is the newest installment in rather worn out series and a much appreciated and needed refresh. New combat and graphically fantastic environment with tons of content will gave you some nice moments. The game is not a blast but it is a proof that AC is back on the right track again, for now.
