I’d swear it’s the Xbox crowd trying to give the PS4 version a bad name. The new update with HDR on my Sony 4K on PS 4 Pro is just stunning with fantastic frame rate. I just can’t believe such smooth gameplay with such awesome graphics.

The game mechanics and fighting is so real. The boats and travelling and climbing all so smooth. I’d give this game 100/100. It’s better than Tomb Raider and Unchartered and that’s saying heaps.

I did hear disgruntled Xbox X players saying for a $100extra their version doesn’t look any better than the PS4 Pro so they are really not happy. Maybe they came here trying to denigrate what is a classic.

There’s always day one bugs but I bought mine a week later so I have the update and it’s awesome.

Zero score is pure fanboyism and it’s sad that reviews of such a brilliant game is tarnished by these idiots.

But all the rest seems fresh and polished; the game has reinvented itself and drinks from a lot of sources, like Horizon and The Witcher - now you have a huge open world to travel and explore, filled with side quests, secrets, tombs, treasures, lore, gear of all kinds of rarity and a completely revamped combat system.

But none of that would work without a strong protagonist. And Bayek - as well as his wife Aya - never disappoint. He is a strong, mysterious, brutal man who can also show a lot of fatherly love and kindness. Through the kind, sad eyes of this hero, we see the quest of a man who is not interested in defending a creed and killing nobles, but basically avenging his son and defending his people from oppression.

I think Ubisoft did a fantastic job with this one and it was a very smart move to wait a while until releasing it. Assassin's Creed Origins is an almost flawless game which got me hooked for more than 70 hours.

I read about loot-boxes and such: have not idea, haven't even clicked the store button and not sure I will. The game gives you any tools necessary to enjoy it without further cost. I am half-way through (level 27) and I have this old familiar feeling of "real life break - it's Ezio's time".

    Good effort.

I skipped Unity due to the issues and never got around to playing Syndicate. I was very excited to see what that team could do with this game, given they took extra time to reinvent Assassin's Creed. I am glad to say that the extra year helped make this into one of the best Assassin's Creed games. The game takes a couple hours to open up but once you leave the tutorial area the game begins to shine. This is one of the best, if not the best open world I have played in. It is almost as good as the world in The Witcher 3. The main story is good but takes a back seat to the side quests and the open world itself. However, the ending is very good, especially for Assassin's Creed fans. The combat system is the most divisive change in the game. I personally like it as it takes more skill than previous games. For this first time in a while, getting surrounded can be very dangerous so it's smart to take the stealth option as long as you can. This game shows that if Ubisoft allows their studios more time to make their games, they are much better in the long run. If Assassin's Creed doesn't become annualized again it can become an amazing franchise again! Expand

Combat is still clunky, especially given how the series got combat right in Black Flag and now actually lost that touch. However, story, flow and overall enjoyment makes this one of the best AC titles, and a definite improvement from recent poor show. Highly recommended for AC fans.

Returning to its roots in more ways than one
Assassins Creed Origins takes place in Egypt around 49 BC, the time of Cleopatra and Julius Ceasar
You play as the last Medjay, Bayek and occassionaly as his wife Aya
Without spoiling the story, something happens that sends Bayek on a revenge quest.. a very personal one that makes Bayek feel real, and gives you a real connection with him…
Im going to get the bad out of the way first….
I found the story here to be the weakest in the series main line games…
As the name suggests.. Origins tells the story of how the Assassins Creed started…
But it sortve just goes.. okay.. the creed is a thing now.. heres an explanation of the symbol, bye…
It never feeks impactful or justified.,, it sort of just happens and left me disliking both of the games main characters
The story is more focused on Bayek and his revenge which is fine… it definitely pulled at my heart strings but the delivery of his story as well as the story of the creed felt so disjointed…
It has interesting characters from history such as Julius ceasar and Cleopatra…
But I feel these characters were never fully utilized in the way characters have been in past assassins creed games… theyre just there… which leaves this to be easily the most forgettable campaign
I feel this may mostly have to do with the game deciding to go the more RPG route.. where you cant just focus on the story as enemies 3 or more levels higher than you will just one hit kill you…
This had me going out and ignoring the story just to level up and clean the map…
And when I came back to play through the story it was over before I knew it
I put 40 hours into the game, not even touching half of its giant map and id be surprised if there was more than 6 to 8 hours of actual campaign content here..
Overall extrememly disappointed in the campaign, even though it has a powerful opening…
On a positive note with the campaign.. I loved that we got a peak into our targets minds after assassinating them.. reminding me more of the first game… and there is more of a Desmond Miles feel with the present day…
It sortve just feels there..not as intrusive as the desmond saga but I feel the potential for something here in the future and it’s a step in the right direction..
Now that most of my ranting is done..
    Gameplay and experience wise..
Assassins Creed Origins is one of the best games in the entire Assassins Creed series…
Egypt is huge, again there is nearly half of this game ive yet to even uncover…
But uncovering it all is what makes assassins creed origins so great..
It finally feels addictive again to discover, no longer is the setting just a background.. it’s a character for the first time since Assassins Creed 3
There is an ungodly amount of detail in this world… easily the best open world of the year, so much care and attention to detail..
Every inch of this game feels hand crafted rather than thrown into some algorithm
The world is full of question marks in a way that doesn’t feel overwhelming..
There are sidquests with real stories attached to them such as helping a suicidal widow get over her grief..
The characters in the world feel real.. the world feels alive, it goes on with or without you..
There are tombs and bandit camps for you to raid and captains to kill for weapons, there are the sync points for fast traveling.. there are animal dens, clues for treasure hunts, sunken ships to plunder..
And you have an egal companion named senu that can take to the sky and mark points of interest to lessen the frustration of searching for an areas treasure to earn that xp bonus for clearing an area
You can also fight in arenas or chariot race…
There is so much to do here in this gorgeous world…
Uncovering new locations will award you with xp so you can level up and use higher weapons and dump skill points into bayek,,
There is a skill tree that focuses on close combat, ranged combat, and tootls such as smoke bombs and being able to tame animals…
Assassins Creed Origins is so close to perfection..
I haven’t had this much fun exploring an open world in a long time…
of calling my horse or camel and setting off to uncover the next question mark and the secrets this world hides..
im excited to go back in.
But the poor campaign hurts my overall opinion of this game, as do the few annoyances I have with its climbing feeling unresponsive compared to syndicate and unity.. and not being able to interact with items until you get out of conflict when enemies are dozens of yards away… which is the biggest one…
Let enemies ineterupt me… stop locking me out of actions…
But this open world is the best open world since the witcher 3…
Assassins Creed is back to being an addictive map cleaner full of wonder.
    I give Assassins Creed Origins
    a 9/10

I think the user score should be in the 80+ region, and finds it difficult to understand why it is lower... sure, there are some quests that feels a bit bugged, but it would have surprised me more if there where none. I say as an Assassins Creed fan I was satisfied, especially with the change in direction. I enjoyed the more RPG or semi-RPG gameplay and leveling Bayek with attributes best suited to your desired play style was nice - although really its best to focus on every tree especially on a greater difficulty setting. The world is absolutely stunning and every region of the map was a joy to visit. I got Goosebumps the moment I first saw the pyramids of Giza off in the distance, not to mention the excitement I had once stepping through an entrance to explore the grandest of them all. The combat and physics were well done and satisfying. The stealth felt familiar from other titles I have played but that is a positive - I loved headshotting as many enemies when clearing out camps before anyone getting wise. The Story was interesting for the most part and I connected with Bayek and believed in his character.

But... some things kind of frustrated me. For example, this is the origins story. Bayek receives his hidden blade with no story or a quest or two of how exactly he should use it. Yes, he loses the finger but why was there no in depth side quest or main quest on who invented it? It was sort of a bummer not having a couple quest where you are tasked with testing the weapon out first before attempting to assassinate your main target. Another issue I had with the game is that the story was kind of short and rushed toward the end. There are no assassination side quest, no bureau to build and gains to make in that aspect like other A/C games. So it seems to me that Ubisoft added some new cool features to the game but took away some other cool ones. I also think many of the characters you meet along the way are kind of forgetful, as you don't really get a sense they matter in the world around you. Nevertheless AC:O is a great game and deserving of a high score. Taking a full year extra for development was a good idea and I hope as a big A/C fan they continue to improve without taking any serious steps backward. 8/10

One thing that I was really impressed with is the depiction of Egypt. Beautiful, starting from the river delta and taking a boat down is mind blowing. Egypt is just not desert, the river's are abundant with wild life and villages with people doing what they are suppose to be doing.

Story so far is good, again a similar layout to Ghost Recon when targeting bosses. Voice acting can be inconsistent, with people having Egyptian/Nubian accents then all of sudden have an English accent? There really isn't a certain order but you need to be a specific level range to complete some bosses. There is no level scaling, which I prefer.

Combat to me is a bit 50/50. I like the change, but the controls are a bit clunky in terms to enemy targeting (similar to For Honor) with a power gauge which gives you a power attack or increases your attack speed depending the type of weapon you're using.

Stealth mechanics are still there, with the use of a hawk to scout fortifications. The AI can be a bit dumb and tricked easily. You can go Far Cry style and release animals caged as a distraction.

MP is indirect, similar to Shadow of War/Mordor where you find bodies of other players and avenging them.

Overall, an 8. Something they can build on with future games. Hope they do an Ancient Greece, or China next.

On a serious, the game is a return to form for the franchise. The side quests are the best that Assassin's Creed has ever had, as you actually care about a lot of the missions and remember them. The main story is good, but nothing outstanding. The game is barely but you can find a few glitches here and there. But not like other Assassin's Creed. The only game I can remember didn't have any lag was Black flag, so this is also a positive thing.

The weapon system is fun and new, a breath of fresh air, same goes for the fighting system. The best thing about this game is the open free world. The world is straight up gorgeous and full of life

The combat is slick and truly feels like up-close and personal fighting. Which is a major improvement to simply counter killing/multikill your way out of stack of dead guards. Although it isn't anything close to the real thing, the feel is there and I felt it hit its mark well. I really liked playing in the arena, as it did a decent job of showing inspirations from the many gladiator movies from Hollywood. The arena will truly teach you how to fine tune your combat abilities overall, which helps in the later missions. Also, boss fights are now in the game and some of the "targets" even have a little Metal Gear Solid sort of abilities as an added challenge.

The stealth part of the game really hasn't changed, but it was seriously dialed back for the game. Thankfully, the hidden blade and a few of the assassin abilities do make a return, but assassinations and stealth are only really necessary for the VIPs and heavily guarded areas. Personally, I think it's about time the Creed developers look at revising the stealth mechanic, as it getting a little old.

As for the visuals and sounds, you'd figure that Egypt would be boring because of the sands. Thankfully, the world is filled with villages, bustling towns, tombs and many other wonders. Exploring the world always remained enjoyable and fun to do, even when I was halfway through the game. Like a lot of people have said on here, you can clearly see the developers had The Witcher 3 in mind, when they made this.

First of all I tip my hat to Ubisoft: They listened and took their time and effort to make this a game that looks and is very good and totally worth its money.

What I liked in comparions to former AC:
    - Detailed huuuge world. Much effort here, Kudos.
    - The main character is quite likable executed
    - The combat system is like a simpler and easier version of Dark Souls. It's better than in any AC game. *thumbs up*
    - You actually have progress to your level to be able to beat the enemies. You cannot hack your way thorugh the story without leveling up. As a lvl 30 you can be one shotted by lvl 35 guys. You evaluate your enemy before you strike now.
    - You can dive and explore under water
    - The wildlife is awesome

What I did not like or think it's "just the same as everytime":
    - open world fatigue sets in 'during' the game progression. Somewhere at 30-40h it just all didn't matteer anymore and I just wanted to complete it and get some achievements.
    - Despite the story being ok it's more or less the same as in every AC but strechted over 40hours instead of 15.
    - The present time / outside animus conspiracy stuff was poorly told and barely there. Best execution was in AC 3.
    - No sea missions besides those short fixed story ones
    - The later areas are far more interesting that the ones in the beginning. I don't know why I have to play for 30+ hours until there are finally bigger mountains and not only semi flat areas.

Though I can recommend this game without a second thought I fear that the next installement will become a generic open world game, or let's say if it's the same like Origins just with a different world that I would not like. We will see.

What I wish for deep in my heart is a highly story driven AC with a hightened focus on animus/conspiracy and with lot's of vertical gameplay.
This is the seventh AC game I own and so far AC 2 and AC 3(I'm serious) are my favourite ones.

ACO is a vast open world RPG. The scope of the map is quite intimidating. The graphics are amazing. I played at high settings and I notice occasional hiccups and bugs but nothing too major. The historical data is astounding. The combat is very fluid compare to previous entries and acrobatics are less twitchy. The sound and music is quite deep and influence with Egyptians themes. They are maybe too many side quests which can induce boredom but I didn't mind has long as it's a tool for exploration and levelling. The items loots and upgrade are well done and just enough to keep you strong but not entirely invincible. The main character take time to love but after the first 1/3 of the game you get to like him more. There are some naval battles taken from the pirate AC game. They are really enjoyable and change the pace quite a bit. Ubisoft did their work on this game. I was a fan of the first two game, and they lost me on the subsequent releases. Egypt is a massive sprawling playground for you to explore, stealth and hack and slash your way through that you will be intrigued by. Sure, combat is a little basic with only light, heavy, dodge and parry in the meleé but you can also utilise your bows, of which there are 4 variations of, and attempt, later on in the game, to poison and send to sleep your enemies.

There are many missions in this game (125 in the vanilla edition) as well as tombs to explore and pilfer from, chariot racing, hunting (which is a part of the crafting system) and gladiator arena challenges too if you want a break from exploring and conquering but I felt that it could have benefited from something a little different to break up the monotony of its huge premise. Maybe a board game or two or card games would have been a nice addition but I am playing Devil's advocate here.

Graphics are a high for the series in its landscape but I can't help but feel that it is time for a new engine whereby the facial is concerned. Things just look a little dated on that front for me and this is only exacerbated when seeing the cut-scenes.

The skills and levelling system is handled well here giving you the freedom to upgrade the skills most useful to you over others. I would have liked the character level to have exceeded the hard cap of 40 which I reached after uncovering around half of the map but even after that there is plenty left to explore and witness.

All in all, this is a brilliant return for the AC series and will appease fans as well as welcome in new gamers to the franchise. This game sits as my second favourite in the series after the seminal AC2 and this is high praise from me. Dip your toe into this game and it will hook you.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I had kind of given up on the AC series and only picked this one up because I saw some amazing environments shown off, and I wanted to spend some time in ancient Egypt. And I have to say this game was a very nice surprise.

It is very clear that they were aware of the reputation AC was getting (and really all annual series get) and they really tried and succeeded to improve their formula. The open world feels much more alive this time, the sidequests are much more substantial, and there is a lot of variation in the gameplay.

    The World

The world looks absolutely amazing. I've not seen a single area that didn't look like someone spent time to make it look interesting. Of course there are the famous areas to visit, like the pyramids, but every area of the game is packed with interesting things to discover.

    The Side Content

The sidequests are more interesting as well, they've clearly tried to give them some more depth and they're a lot less repetitive. Some even had a connection to or gave more depth to the main story.

I also love the trial of the Gods, maybe because I had not heard anything about it, so when I came across the little icon and curiously went to look in on it, and suddenly had to face off a giant god, it felt very epic.

    The Main Story

The only major complaint I have with this game is the main story and the way it is told.
The main story feels incredibly boring, especially for what it is meant to be, the origins story of the Brotherhood. And I feel the game releases this as near the end it suddenly rushes through some events that should feel epic, but don't because they barely spend any time on them.
After spending who knows how many hours on the first targets - all of which feel underwhelming to say the least - we barely get any time during: the attempt on Cleopatra's life, the siege of Alexandria, the betrayal of the Cleopatra, the last two targets, a chariot chase, a sea battle, the creation of the Brotherhood, and the murder of Caesar.
All those events sound like they'd be very interesting to play through, except they are so crammed together with so little time it just felt frustrating and even boring in the end.

One of the main things wrong with the main story - besides the pacing issues I just mentioned - are how they tried to implement Aya.
The Aya segments feel like they at one point were planning a story DLC with her as the lead but scrapped it, and kept the finished parts to stuff them in the main story of AC:O. The Aya parts of the story feel either completely disconnected from the main story, or unnecessary. I really liked Aya, but I could not enjoy playing her because of the clunky way she was implemented.
The worst offender is having to play her epilogue. We have to fight against someone we already defeated, and then quickly have to assassinate Caesar. I can't help but feel like that should have been a separate DLC, or even in a separate game with Aya as the lead. I don't understand how they thought people would enjoy spending 100 hours building up Bayek to then spend the final moments of the game with another character.

Bad as those portions were, the Layla portions were even more crammed in with no real sense to them. It's too bad because the Isu tombs were very interesting so I had hopes they'd implement the sci-fi element better this time.

    The Main Characters

I did genuinely like both Bayek and Aya, and I feel they wanted to go for a 'mother and father of the Brotherhood' feeling with them, but they didn't do them justice in the story. At times their characterisation felt inconsistent, and in the end we only get seconds of seeing them in their new roles.
I don't understand how the story goes from Aya being the one who is more ambitious to then having Bayek basically assemble the brotherhood between some NPCs (most of which needed a bit more time to be memorable).
The relationship between Bayek and Aya worked so well that it also felt really jarring to suddenly have Bayek announce he can't be with Aya because her face reminds him of a dead loved one (not even their son, oddly enough), but then on the beach he suddenly wants to be with her again but now she doesn't want to be with him. It's just a very odd note to end on, 'oh we have just formed a very strong brotherhood but we're also going our separate ways.' I would much rather have seen them stay together and be a power couple leading the Brotherhood.

    Finally

There are some other minor things that bothered me. Most of the outfits are boring and it feels like they did that to tempt you to buy them from the e-store. The combat is clunky and somewhat unresponsive. Some of the abilities should have been given to you from the start.

For most games these issues and the issues with the main story would be a bigger misstep, but this game made up for it in all other areas and I'll probably spend another 100 hours in it before getting bored.

The graphics overall are amazing and Ubisoft did a great job at recreating ancient Egypt, the atmosphere is phenomenal and the environment is spectacular and I would definitely recommend that you stop in your tracks and just go around discovering the vast and gorgeous world of AC: Origins. Now let's talk about a couple things that aren't so amazing. The combat is...interesting, it's not perfect, not by a mile. It was a bold decision that the devs made but it didn't pay off entirely, due to the lock on combat system you'll get yourself in a lot of sticky situations, when you're fighting multiple enemies at once you're gonna find yourself struggling to dodge and parry every attack being thrown at you. With a couple of tweaks here and there I think that the new combat system has the potential to be really good. Other than the combat I think that the story is kinda weak compared to other AC games, I don't really want to spoil anything so the one thing that I'll say is that the list of targets that you have to assassinate in Origins is by far the weakest of any other AC game. I haven't encountered any game breaking glitches or bugs so far, or anything that would ruin the experience that this game creates for the players, however one other thing that you should know is that though Origins tries really hard to promote stealth it's near impossible to actually be stealthy, enemies can very easily spot you when you're hiding, even if you're behind a wall there's a high chance you'll still be spotted. Overall AC: Origins is deserving of an 8.75 in my opinion as it's a fairly decent comeback for the AC franchise. As an AC fan Origins has definitely gotten me excited about the future of AC once again. Expand

+ Start of the game and story is strong
+ Bayek, His act and voice is superb
+ Egypt, it's recreation and graphics are awesome.
+ Music and ambient sounds are perfect
+ The redesigned fighting system fits so well and I like it (It's more personal maybe)
+ So many other gameplay options like: changing the time and people behavior about the time, their routine life, one key for parkor system and it's fluid animations, ...

    - Lack of sprint for horse, camel
    - No option for how much time you want to pass
    - AI and enemy behavior could be much better!

For me this is the best AC there is, just because it's an open world where you can do and see everything, from animals to pyramids and the gameplay is fluid. It's a 10/10 for me. Expand

The story is really bad, disappointing, and stupid. But the side quests are good, well done, and the overall gameplay is one of the best I've played in an Assassin's Creed game.

Come on guys! Really!? Don't be such cry babies!
If you liked previous Assassin's Creed games, then you will love this one too. You can play it in many different ways: Play it like Witcher 3, put more accent on the side quests, explore wonderful world of ancient Egypt, explore tombs, mountains forests and cities, help people along the way, collect goods and advance Bayek’s abilities. Play it in Ezo and Altair style and be an deadly assassin using stealth, sleep darts, poison, smokescreen, parkour and climbing.

Maybe you like direct approach so, use melee type of fighting. Shields, three types of swords and four types of heavy weapons like blunts, scepters spears and blades should be enough for even fierced Warriors.

Don't like close combat? No problem! You can be deadly (and stealthy) from a distance: use variety of bows and arrows (you can choose between four types of bows).

You will learn to appreciate Senu’s eagle vision more than you think, but be warned: scouting with Senu can ruin some exploration delights.

Love Lions? Then tame one! It's a deadly companion! Horses and camels are too slow for you? Use chariots instead! I can write a dozen tips like this.

There is fiew bad things too. For exsample, fighting with some enemies feels awkward, like you are connected to each other with a rubber band. You cannot escape series or blows and will most likely end up dead.
Fire. Bayak’s outfit (no matter which one) acts like it is made of paper and catches fire pretty damn quickly so avoid those god damn, in floor level, brassieres!
And last, supernatural cut scenes. You will see plenty of those. I won't spoil anything, but that was a bit too
much for my taste. Ubisoft should left it out or make it in some other way.

This game was not meant to be played in a rush. You have to be patient with it. Learn fighting mechanics, plan ahead, use tactics, upgrade your weapons and skills. Enemies are not so dumb anymore. In other words take your time and enjoy gameplay. It's not a perfect game, but Ubisoft made this one really good.

The game has a lot of content and when I say a lot I mean a lot. The campaign will take you roughly 15HRS, but with so much side content this can easily be stretched to 30+. I personally liked Bayek. I thought he was serious when he needed to be serious and very charming and funny when he needed to be funny. A great blend of serious and charismatic. I have been asking for a Assassin's Creed in Egypt for a long time, and wanted it more than the Japan and and Future. I am glad we finally got it because Egypt has countless possibilities to do. I am a little disappointed they chose 49-46BC rather than Ramses II and Moses 1280BC. Where there could of been the plagues of Egypt, meeting Moses, the parting of the Red Sea. Now that would of been something to see, but maybe that was pushing it to far with the time. With that said I am happy we got an Egypt AC game and I am stoked it turned out this good. That two year break was much needed for everyone and for Ubisoft. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This review is partial and coming from a non AC player in the past, but have always been interested. I have played this game around 8 hours since picking it up on launch day.
My first impressions where that the grapics were amazing on my PS4 Pro, even though I have only been to two sections on this huge map , Siwa and the following area. There was plenty to do in this part of the game including main quest and side missions.
I have really enjoyed it so far as I have always been interested in ancient Egypt. I'm hoping missions do not get too repetitive. So far I see a variety.
Traveling to enemy controlled areas/bases have been fun. Sneaking around and assassinating soldiers, although not complicated, while your charatcter hides in the tall grass. During these parts of the game a main boss will need to be eliminated. Difficulty of a boss is based on rank. XP allows you to gain a higer number rank which I am currently at 8. Of course trying to take on a higher ranked character than yourself usually turns out for the worse for you.
With that being said you usually have to explore, complete side missions, and level up to move on. It will definetly be harder to just complete the main quest portion of the game in order to finish the game faster. Get ready to grind!
Combat for the most part works. Hit and dodge is the tactic here. You have the ability to lock on to one target at a time. There are many weapon variations to loot along the way. You can use a bow and arrow and switch over to a sword, axe and several other melee weapons based on the situation.
You travel from place to place on your horse, camel or other means and have fast travel options.
You also have a sidekick in the form of a bird that is seen in third person. This allows you to search the map for locations, enemies and most importantly scout ahead.
From what I have read this game is dramatically different from the previous AC titles. Hopefully this review has helped you decide if this game will be of interest or a waste of time and money. I personally am excited to venture farther into this game and huge map !

Things like skill trees and crafting systems have been slipping their way into Assassin's Creed for a while now. Origins however is the first game in the series to fully embrace the RPG genre. Boldly redefining the franchise while taking us back to the earliest days of the Brotherhood.

As interested as I was in seeing how the Assassins got their start, I didn't care about the protagonist Bayek, his wife Aya, or even his quest to avenge his son's death. This is in part because the game picks up a year after he already set out to destroy the Order, giving it a bit of a non-linear quality. I got more out of the side-quests and historical setting. A lot of effort went into making the characters you come across in both the main plot and the mini side-stories scattered across the world feel real and memorable. The best part of the narrative though is definitely the origin story of the Creed. Seeing how all of these different things we've come to associate with the series over the years came to be is a lot of fun.

On the gameplay side of things the biggest change that can be found is the combat system. No longer are fights a dance of well-timed parries and counters. Instead we get something much more free-flowing with a mix of light and heavy attacks not unlike a SoulsBorne game. A wide variety of weapon types allow you to experiment with different playstyles and find one that best suits you. This is true of ranged combat as well. The new bow and arrows are probably my favorite addition to the series. Being able to put some distance between you and your foes can be life-saving. Pulling off headshots never gets old. Especially when you dive further into the skill trees and get crazy new abilities like the power to control arrows mid-flight.

Origins is a massive game that's filled with things to do. Admittedly you're just completing the same handful of tasks over and over again, but the action manages to stay fresh due to how diverse the environments are. Each section of the map is unique. Affectinf things like enemy patrol patterns and the kind of terrain you'll maneuver through. Entering a new zone for the first time and getting caught up in it's beauty and how different it was from everywhere else I had previously explored was enough to keep me going until I got that platinum trophy.

The new modern day segments return to a format similar to that of when Desmond was still around. They introduce a new protagonist for this side of things, but man is she annoying. Like Rebecca and Shaun levels of bad. Not much happens in the few brief excursions outside of the Animus, but it's nice to see signs of Ubisoft potentially doing something significant with this part of the series again.

Origins marks the first real evolution for Assassin's Creed since introducing multiplayer back in 2012. With a better story and more variety across the board the next entry could be talked about as one of the best RPGs of all time. Some excellent groundwork has been laid here, making the franchise feel fresher than it has in years.

Factors that puts AC: Origins ahead (some might frown) over GTA V and RDR is the immersive game play. Hunting, Climbing, Interaction with envt, weapons, Combat, Enemies, Soundtrack are to name a few.

Combat is pretty challenging. I suggest play in HARD mode. Every enemy has a difficulty level. If they are 1 or two levels above you, then combat is tough, if further above, you'll be killed like a mosquito. One death per hour is more or less certain. Even the same goes with animals.

You can climb pretty much anything. Yes!! Anything. Now you don't need to take a long route to reach atop of a mountain. Simply can climb vertically.

SENU the Eagle is what we always wanted in Assassins Creed. In origins we do not have eagle vision, bur actual EAGLE's Vision. Use Senu to track, follow, set markers, even fast travel (if senu is within 300mts)

A.I is absolutely amazing, for instance: In a side quest when an NPC is asked to go home after the quest, the NPC actually runs home, rather than just disappear. You can follow the character with SENU (the EAGLE) and can even listen to his post quest conversation with another character.

Bayek is always on running mode. No need to press any other keys (AC fans will notice the difference).

How to play: Ideally play all the side quests, explore areas, loot transporting, hunt and reach higher levels.

I reached level 8 before leaving the first area (SIWA). Even at level 8 there are two places in SIWA that you cannot approach. Enemies have SKULL over them (Too high for Bayek)

I played almost 8 hours (in detail, solving puzzles, upgrading,dying- a lot) before "Leaving SIWA".

This game is Massive. Awesome. Challenging. Accurate to a great extent (even the interiors of Pyramid of GIZA

To use DELUXE CODE-> In game, go to store and enter the code and you get 1. A Legendary Sword, Spear and a Shield, Desert Cobra outfit and A bad ass horse. A Naval Mission

I can go on writing, but i suggest buy it to experience it.

First of all, massive kudos to Ubisoft's art department! The effort and talent that went into creating the universe of Origins is nothing short of impressive. You can get lost for days just roaming around in the world, admiring the beautiful scenery. The game looks simply amazing on my 4KTV.

There's an unbelievable amount of content as well. Main quests, side quests, tombs to raid, treasures to find, enemy camps and forts to infiltrate, horse racing... If you love huge open world games with hundreds of secrets to discover, you'll love Origins. The characters and story are pretty interesting as well!

The great audio-visual presentation is accompanied by smooth controls, and it's just as much pleasure to play this game as it is to look at it. There are some minor graphical glitches (NPCs spazzing out, pots of oil randomly spawning in the air and then slowly descending into water) and once I got stuck inside a wall and was unable to get out, but this was quickly fixed by simply fast-traveling to the nearest vantage point. They're not frequent, though, and the beautiful world itself makes Origins well worth your time. I'm absolutely in love with this game and I'll be sure to give the franchise another try.

    Pros:
    - absolutely beautiful open world
    - massive amount of content and a vast area to explore
    - good controls
    - great sound and visuals

    Cons:
    - occasional glitches
    - the RPG elements aren't very deep, it's just basic "level up to unlock skill points to buy abilities" and "gather stuff to upgrade equipment"

As a funny little anecdote on the freedom this game offers vs other AC games, I actually killed my first "main quest mark" by mistake, while testing out a new bow I'd looted somewhere... with a headshot. I was so confused because I forgot to set the main quest as active, and was messing around an ol' temple, when I see some dudes. I get ready to pick them off one by one, and just as I get the first one in the head - mind you, there was no indication that this was the main mark; his lvl was just a little higher than the others - the game goes into a cut scene!!! I've never laughed that much in an AC game, especially after being told by another main character that I needed to prepare well to assassinate this guy.

First things first - This is an open-world, Action RPG; whoever still believes this game to be along the lines of old AC titles has completely missed the influences from Witcher 3. Moving on.

The visuals are incredible. This game almost feels as though it is running the same engine as Just Cause 3, but adapted for 2017. By that, I mean it can be quite astounding sometime, whereas other times, textures get strangely drawn. Speaking of drawn, even on the PS4, the draw distance is damn good. I don't know if they accomplished this by pulling back a little on sky-related visuals, but sometimes you can be at an Synchronization Point (Eagle Point) and watch as a small group of horses walk along a road really, really f*cking far away. For a moment I thought I was playing on PC with max settings.

The fighting mechanics are simple. AC has come a long way, and by "a long way" I mean it has finally realized people don't enjoy these weird moments where you clearly just slashed the enemy across the head but he got the same amount of damage dealt with. In this game, hitting an enemy from the side or over the head or on the arm deals different damage. That being said... ARROWS will be your best friend for the first time in an AC game! (Now where have I seen that before? Zelda BotW...:cough cough:)

Speaking of arrows, and weapons in general. What I meant about this really being an RPG in disguise, is the simple fact that there is crafting in this game. There is hunting for materials, and then crafting. There is hunting and then selling what you hunt. There is enhancing your own equipment with what you loot or hunt. There are many, many side quests and the lands are vast. As in many RPG games these days - Witcher, for example - there is a clear symbol letting you know an enemy is way too OP for you and will OHKO you; a lvl 19 Lion versus a lvl 8 Bayek is a great example of this - trust me, I know.

The music doesn't jump out as much as past AC games, and this is good. These guys took a page from both Witcher and Zelda BotW for this. It's effective. Music plays only every now and then, and then it's quiet. Trust me, you're gonna want to pay more attention to that Crocodile Lair you almost just jumped into instead of pretty music.

So all in all, I give the game an 8. It does a lot of things well, but then there's the cash grab aspect (don't feel like wasting space on that here), and of course, some things can be a little repetitive, as with all open-world games; just look at Skyrim, Witcher 3, Zelda BotW, GTA V. None can escape it. Not till games are fully streamed and incredibly vast in data size.

So far this is the only assassins creed that has managed to surpass assassins creed 2. Its that good. Of course this is my opinion but it is absolutely amazing. Combat is awesome, stealth is awesome, exploration is amazing and the story is great. Bayek is one of my favorite assassins and dont even get me started on the graphics. Holy crap are they amazing. Best ive seen. Buy this game.

The time I spent playing the game, it really excelled what I had in mind, the seamless parkour and hand to hand combat seemed like the Assassins Creed game we needed, but there were a few notable, shall we say, disappointments.

The story was, interesting, had a lot of history to it, but the down side was it was a bit jumpy at the beginning, I didn't quite grasp much of what was happening, and being thrown right into a battle, is alright to learn controls, but from a story standpoint, a bit confusing.

Leveling in this game, was a nice addition, worked well with the progression of the story and the harder missions, but, what lacked was the fact that just by doing the main quests, did not set you up for the next main missions, for example, you hit a major point in the story, and your level 10, but the next mission is level 15, the gap is too big, which has me thinking that there is not much in the way of a composed story,

On the topic of leveling, to be able to match with the recommended level, you have to do side quests, now that's fine because some play well with characters you've met or have quirks of humor about them, the only real problem is that they take away from the main story, it's like, now we can go and kill the final boss, but wait let me kill some hippos for a village so I can be ready for the boss fight, seems silly doesn't it.

Note: I have not finished the game, but i'm pretty sure this is how it will continue.

On a final note it is well rendered in visuals, and the story in enticing, but the leveling progression can be tiresome at times, probably rate this my third best AC game.

    Pontos negativos do game:

Well for one the world is very large i was blown away by how big the map is its BY FAAR the biggest AC game weve ever had and among the biggest openworld games todate the gameplay as i mentioned previoulsy is phenomenal it differs ALOT from the previous AC titles this time around going for a more dark souls style combat where your level and your gear ACTUALLY MATTER while some old fans arent really fond of it i think its a welcome change to the franchise, exploration is also rewarded by loot coins crafting materials and other things, the game is also very polished and graphically stunning framerate is thankfully stable on ps4 and i havent had too many bugs with the game there is also a big variety of animals weapons and outfits wich is greatly apriciated i also have to mention that ubisoft has definetly taken some notes from the witcher 3 and far cry, the side quests are decent they mostly serve as a way for you to gain xp fast soo none of them are really memorable like in the witcher 3, and of course there are the filthy microtransactions now i understand ubisoft wants to make money but for gods sake why put it in a single player game (i think we all know why)
thankfully they arent intrussive at all and i never once thought about buying anything from the shop
but i have to mention it still because it seems that this is becoming a growing trend amongs games and we need to draw the line in the sand NOW. now if you liked the prevous ac games i think youre gonna like this one too however wait for a price drop before buying the game just to make sure you get your moneys worth 8/10 great game.

Nice appropach toward RPG,; Ubisoft did learn a lesson and tried to make quests richer in little stories but here still something remains to be done and polished. For the final better feeling of the game these things should be improved: 1. better npcs models 2. better facial animations 3. Better little stories of the quest givers and 4. Assassin's Creed: Origins is the best game in the series, but it's a mediocre action RPG at its core. In this sense, it both succeeds and fails at being a much-needed franchise shakeup.

Origins is the newest installment in rather worn out series and a much appreciated and needed refresh. New combat and graphically fantastic environment with tons of content will gave you some nice moments. The game is not a blast but it is a proof that AC is back on the right track again, for now.
